I have the pershoot v1.2 running on euro DZ with stock sense since yesterday.
I can confirm : no issues whatsoever.
WiFi, bluetooth, FM-radio, GPS, Overclocking to > 1.5GHz all working perfect.
Are these kernels compatible with the US T-mobile G2 Stock ROM? Sorry i just need to clear it out of my way. thank you

So if you like the kernels and are planning to donate, please make sure you donate to them and not us. The work we've done and continue to do to assure Sense/HTC compatibility is minuscule in comparison to the upstream work by the actual maintainers.

I don't use Sense myself, but I think it's important that the Virtuous team is recognized for all THEIR hardwork. As humble as you are in your post, you & your team deserve recognition for your efforts too.
Your contributions are definitely not without merit and appreciated by many, many people. You guys are important in your own way for making the community (G2/DZ & beyond) what it is, so thank YOU for your hard work.
BlueTooth won't turn on for G2 Stock ROM with both Pershoot and Cyanogen Kernels
Thanks for the work though.

Deleting my post. I believe the ramdisk needs to be different.
Hi.
Excuse my ignorance, but trying to find out how to update stock kernel to this.
Tried searching, but rather new to Android and there seems to be a lot of varuois advise.
Am I to understand that all I need to do is download for example the pershot kernel, put it on my SD and make a fastboot update? Since it contains a "boot.img"
Or is ADB involved?
Simply put, how would I upgrade my "old" stock kernel?
And before upgrading, how would I go ahead and backup my old. Nandroid?
Thanks for your time.
If your sig is current, then your first step should be to S-Off. Check one of the stickies.
Then the easiest way to go about updating the Kernel/doing a backup would be to grab Rom Manager off the Market and flashing ClockworkMod.
Thanks alot for the kernals everything works on desire z fine fm radio etc..
the only problem i am having is the phone freezes if i set the max fre over 1094 mhz on set cpu it allows over clocking to over 1400 mhz right? well i am a proper noob though so maybe i am doing something wrong? i need to change a setting perhaps? or maybe this kernal is not for overclocking ?
thanks
or maybe i am just unlucky and 1094 mhz is the max my phones cpu can handle since every cpu is unique?
Random black-screen on wake-up
Tried both 1.2 and 1.3, same problem.
The issue is: When I wake up my phone from sleeping( either using Power Button or D-Pad), I have random chance to get a black screen. It's special, unlike those "freeze black-screen", the "home,MENU,Back,Search" buttons below the screen light up normally, open the keyboard and the backlight will turn on too ,but not the screen, it just remain black.
When I press the PowerButton again, the screen light up for about 0.1s (I can see the lock screen) then back to sleep.
Sometimes I have to press the Powerbutton several times get the screen on. but sometimes it works just fine.
I have no problem with the "Unmodified kernel" from ROM Manager, but when using these two kernels, it happens again.
Is there any solution or similar case?
Just installed the CM kernel on my DZ with stock sense rom. Everything seems to work perfectly. Setcpu works great with it. I can OC to 1.5ghz with small steps.
What are the difference in between the kernels??
Using 1.3 atm and no problems at all whatsoever. However I would like to know the differences in between kernels. Does anyone know?
Thanks in advance
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
I can confirm this black screen on wake up as reported by jzhyok while I am test running right now the CM 1.3 kernel on my german DZ with unmodified Sense ROM, perm root, s-off.
I used setcpu with 1.5ghz and 1.2ghz with same results, just in case this could make a difference.
One more thing. My DZ instantly froze when I changed the governor from on demand to smartass in setcpu while I was at 1.5ghz with this CM 1.3 kernel, so I removed battery and now stay with the on demand governor.
Any fix for this anoying black screen wake up problem and any hint for the smartass governor? Which governor would be better, on demand or smartass?

What apps are you running in the background? I used to have the same setup you have a little while back and I never had that problem! I don't recommend you use a task killer but go under settings/applications and running services and see what you got running.......you may have a lot of apps running at the same time like Skype, Game Emulators, any Navigation app, and things like that......you have to remember that some apps take up a lot of memory/ram and you can't run them at the same time with other ones.......
Also, try flashing a different kernal and see if you run into the same problem.......Just so you know, not all kernals are perfect and they have bugs depending on what hardware you have and what rom.....is a trial and error for me at least!..GOOD LUCK!!
Also, instead of a task manager, you can try Autostarts.

Overclock for [ROM] Virtuous Fusion ROM v1.0.0 [5/6/11]

Hello all, I installed rmk and Flemmard, Diamondback, Cappychimp, eViL D:, siulimagic, rafyvitto, and 911Sniper Rom of Virtuous Fusion. Well I could not post anything on that thread because they consider me a noob. So i decided to help those who would like to overclock their G2, and possibly Desire Z, but as i do not have one and did not test it, i cannot confirm it.
So anyways i downloaded: boot-2.6.32.39-amazinglarry-042611.zip ,from another thread which allows the G2 to be overclocked to 1.708 MHz. Since then the Sense 3.0 exp. rom has been blazing fast. it was great before, but amazing now! only issue is its broken the camera and camcorder. So if you cant live without those, then dont try this!
Also just as a precaution, i am not responsible if your device blows up, attacks you or gets bricked =) Just thought i could help those who keep asking for an OC kernel.
Oh and btw, read the article http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1052647 to set the profiles right, you need to have your screenoff setting at 245 min and 806 max, the reason is because the device can freeze when jumping from 245 min to 1708 max.
My Install method
1)Download OC Kernal from above
2)Flash with ROM Manager and ClockworkMod Recovery 3.0.2.4
3)Dont wipe dalvik cache or anything!
4)Device resets and you now have an Overclocked G2
5)Be sure to set your profiles correctly with SetCPU or whatever else you use
6)Enjoy Blazing fast Rosie =)
If anyone can help fix the cam and camcorder after applying this OC, Please let me and everyone else know! I will keep working on it myself and will report back with what I come up with.
So good luck to everyone, hope this helps! =)

LOL...why did you post a donation link. You have no contribution to the kernel or rom.
Sorry, But everyone here knows that aosp (maybe modded) gb-kernels work with sense but break functions like camera and so on. So wth should someone donate , Also we don´t have the source code of the official test gb sense kernel to extract functions or mod it...
Sorry for my bad english. I´m from Germany.

I stated that it will break the cam, camcorder, etc.. but so many people were complaining and asking about the overclock. So I just posted how they can get it. If you dont want it, don't get it. Simple as that. Remember Simple is as Simple does. =P Have a great Day! And Thank You Spastic909, Freedom of Anything and Everything, After all we live in America! Happy Mothers Day as well =)
Most if not all the people know that you can apply gingerbread kernels to gingerbread sense roms. Most people know that it breaks most core functions (as previously stated).
Seeing as this is not a fully functioning overclock, nor a question as to how to make a functioning overclock, why is this thread here, in the Q&A section? It is not an answer to the request for an overclock kernel for Gingerbread sense, so I am stumped as to the point of this topic.
Can anyone confirm this works for desire Z as well just like g2. No mind if camera is not working. As long as wifi works im happy, i use wifi may not have internet abbo.

Instead of a facepalm reaction an answer would be more appriacted.
Definitly when there is mentioned "not sure if desire Z gives same result",
Or atleast something in that direction. So could you do answer the question or leave your comments away. Thank you.
This thread should be closed, all of the devs can confirm that older kernels will not work with virtuous fusion, xboaders or rmk stock roms. You can try them but things will break definetly wifi and camera and probably lots ot other things. Hope fully it won't be long until we have the source code for the newer kernels, the DHD has all ready got there's so hopefully we won't be far behind.

Hey soulbody, it will break the wifi on desire z, it did on my friends phone anyways. But you can try it. If it does break, all you have to do is hold power and volume down to boot into recovery and reflash your rom from zip off your sd card. Making a backup of your current rom would be wise. I hope that helps. Take care

Hmmm ... If someone will read a half of any custom kernel for G2 thread he will find out about everything you've just written. So no doubt you post here only for donations but as someone above written do what you wanna do and make suckers pay you for it
rmk has pulled the form DHD final leak and has built a kernel allowing overclocking and trackpad wake.

High battery drain when using a 3.0 kernel

Flashed the ROM from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1492461 which uses a 3.0 kernel. It runs smooth on my device. However, if I use my phone to listen to music, my battery drains very fast (about 40%/h) although I'm not doing anything else with the device. It also gets quite warm as if it had a high CPU load. However, the CPU load is low as you'd expect. The CPU clock is also OK, most of the time it runs at 245Mhz.
I then downloaded the very same RO with a 2.6 kernel. This time, battery was good when listening to music (1%/15m) and the device stays at a normal temperature so I assume there is a problem with the 3.0 kernel. Did anybody else also encounter this? What can I do to help debugging this problem?
Personally I'd suggest to move over to a similar but better/more stable ROM. Two that come to mind are mimicry and elitemod ICS, both are great and have far less bugs than the ROM you are using. But to each there own... I'd suggest contacting the developer, either within the thread or via pm and ask him why he implemented the 3.0 kernel when it is just far to buggy to use as a daily driver? I'm not hating on him just seems as it was put in his ROM and well... not supported much thereafter.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
The 3.0 kernel isn't as stable as 2.6. If the battery drain issue is that bad then I would suggest moving onto a rom that still uses 2.6. Or if you feel lucky, go test out Andromadus JB which also has the 3.0 kernel. It might be better there. Considering you're testing this with a music app, why not try another application? Try changing the overclock settings. The unofficial CM9.1 and Andromadus are mostly in testing right now. You'd have to be willing to deal with these problems if you use those roms, and report the bugs to the authors.
I would suggest using Mimicry. It may not have all the new bells and whistles like 3.0 kernel, but at least it's stable.
For the record, the 2.6 kernel that Mimicry uses has a *ton* of 3.0 kernel patches merged into it.

Thanks for the replies! Forgot to mention that I first also blamed the audio player (Apollo) and changed to the app I used with the stock ROM but the battery drain was just as bad. So: sorry Apollo
My intention was to help the author of the ROM to track down that issue. But since I'm new to these forums I wasn't allow to reply to the original thread so I wanted to ask first if this is a known general issue of the 3.0 kernel. I'll PM the author and point him to the thread. If anybody knows a good thread on debugging battery drain issues or knows how to do this, please feel free to post links here, I'll also search further.

SetCpu makes my HOX shutdown failure!?

Hey Mates,
After rooting my phone and installing SetCPU to underclock it so as to save some battery time..I created Screen OFF profile and a Battery level profile..
It works fine for some time(like a few hrs) but after that my phone goes down...I cant even power on it by simply holding the power button!
It doesnt show up anything while I do that..
I have to hold the Power button for 10-15 seconds so it makes a hard power on by blinking the Capacitive buttons On and Off!!
SetCPU worked very fine on my HTC Wildfire S...but donno why is it troubling me in HOX!
Has anyone else faced this problem? or what do u think is the problem and what would be an ideal solution?
Help would be greatly appreciated!!
Dont face this with setcpu, and there is not much info about your phone rom. But pls try trickster or no-frill softs to see if problem's gone or not. Then, we'll have more info for solution.
In case of customs rom, go searching in the rom thread if any similar problem?
Alternatively, reflashing rom might clear the issue.

oops sorry about that!
Im using a Stock Rom JellyBean with recent Sense 5 update..
Yeah...as u suggested been using No Frills for the whole day..no sign of Shutdown of Restart so far...and its working fine..
So..I guess SetCpu is the culprit...but I really like the profile feature in it..I dont think even the latest version of No Frills has such..
Would you suggest any app with that feature?? Or a solution for SetCpu with my current provided information?
Help would be great

- No-frills cpu has no profile function, but i'd prefer the soft as it's very light (small size) and battery friendly (not running on background). I can simply open nofrill to change when needed. Also, profiles are not really in frequent usage (the stock rom can manage battery effectively enough, and profiles even consume battery during monitoring the "if" conditions to be matched for activation).
- If you like profiles, go with setcpu. Try to uninstall and reinstall to see if it works. If not, try previous setcpu versions. Worst case, try reflash stock rom if no luck. My phone is also on stock 4.2.2 and no problem with setcpu so far.
- Trickster is more powerful with lots of settings to play with, but requires you more knowlegde to make the best out of it.

Screen off profile saves me a lot of battery rather than it consumes it!!
Tried with a stable previous version of SetCpu which used to work fine on Wildfire S..but that too didnt help..Same problem
How to reflash a Stock ROM? Custom Rom flashing is the thing I know ..but this is new..
And would changing kernel helps? If I should try whats a stable for HOX?
(sorry for the num of questions!)

Flashing stock roms are similar to stock: download rom and flash with custom recovery. But flashing stock rom is just one of some other ways to return phone to stock (restore nandroid backup, running ruu, flashing ota update zip..)
You can find more details on Sticky post -general info of htc one x, including kernels and many interesting stuffs (mod, scripts...) if you want to go deeper.
