Swype OEM battery question - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been a beta tester for Swype. While it has gotten better I still notice more of a battery drain with Swype installed. Has anyone noticed this this still happening with the build in the new OTA that was recently released?
Sent from this here Evo!

I never noticed this problem. How did you discovered swype was the problem?

Each time I installed the beta two things happened for me. The sleep time decreased and the battery life got shorter. I decided to run neocore with and without the beta and it did decrease battery life for me. It was not a tremendous decrease and I have an extended battery but on the stock battery I could see a potential issue. The latest beta is the best so far. They have been addressing battery life. The swype forum has some info about battery life but I didn't see anything about the version on the OTA update.

Cyanogenmod question

I figured since Cyanogenmod 10.1 wild for the night has less apps and is stock that it would have better battery life, but why does it have such bad battery life. By bad i mean why do i get more on Gingerbread than CM10.1 Wild for the night.
Is it because its running more updated software?

There's a WFTN Q&A thread. You might get a better response there, though I assume most of them will be folks telling you they get great battery life.
There are also threads that are dedicated to battery life. Perhaps you'll find some insight there.
You probably have an app that is keeping your phone awake. Most of us use Better Battery Stats from the play store to track those down.
You could also try carat, http://techcrunch.com/2012/06/14/carat-battery/ but it needs a week or so to collect data before it starts giving useful results.
Location service, the LED, facebook are known battery killers.

[Q] Lollipop Reboots

Just curious, if anyone has seen any random reboots since upgrading to 5.0 or 5.0.1?
I've played around with lollipop for week or so now, and I haven't experienced one single reboot... Unless, I've initiated it myself that is.. How about you?
Not that but bad battery life is affecting my tablet dramatically.
No reboots to speak of for me, and battery life has been about the same if not slightly better.
I got one on 5.0 (kernel panic). Haven't had any yet on 5.0.1.

Weird. My battery's been the best it's ever been.
All location, syncing, wifi etc left on I'll get 7 hours screen time over two days no problem, with no gaming 8 hours. Idle drain is like nothing compared to all previous versions.
Find out what app is draining it or what wakelock is keeping it up. If you haven't already, flash the factory image without keeping data.
5.0.1 is ****ing NICE.

Battery drainage after upgrade to android nougat

Hello!
I didn't seem to find some threads on this matter so I started this one, if it's already discussed please move this question there.
After the nougat update the battery drainage increased very much and from 2 days it went down to 1 day battery life.
Is there any fix to this problem?
Build number is CAN-L11C432B350
Hmmm Not having this, but then again im not on that particular build of nougat. would be helpful if you gave screenshots of your battery useage

Battery life in 9.0.9

Battery life in 9.0.9
Hello all,
I'm trying to find out how is the battery life out there in latest stable update
Right now.. i have a pretty bad battery life ..not sure how to fix this.
I went through few pages in Google and OnePlus forums
Here is one of the links
https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/...our-stats-how-to-improve-battery-life.681970/
But still stats are like below attached screenshots
Steps I have tried so far
Cleared cache in recovery
Cleared cache and data for Google Play services
Joined beta for GPS and upgraded to latest version
Factory reset
Also used Oreo for a day or two.. battery life seems normal in Oreo...
Issue resurface as soon as I update to pie
Appreciate all your help on this!
Google Play services constantly run in the background
So far its pretty good for me...
5t is still one of the best phones i think!
Thanks for the reply. Yea 5t is still one of the best phones out there :good: your stats looks solid. I'm thinking where mine goes wrong.
Updating Google Play services to 19.8.28 beta has improved screen on time and battery standby time in stable 9.0.9, hope it remains same with future beta versions.
My 2 cents. Great battery life.
I picked up a used 5T on eBay a week ago. It did the OTA update to 9.0.9 on day 2 or 3. I don't know how it was before the update, but this is the best battery life I have ever experienced.
Full charge last night. Unplugged before bed. Google maps on the way to work (75 mins). Light use throughout the day. Still about 50% left. Better than any phone I have ever had.
I wonder what other apps or settings that the OP has changed to shorten the battery life. Mainly so I don't change those settings.

Question Anyone using Helluva OS Android 12? How is your experience?

I'm curious about flashing it, but I'd rather get some opinions, experience first
it has huge battery drain issues and some bugs, but it's android 12 so i'd recommend waiting until the full release or flashing it if you only use it at home
edit: battery drain was just a furry venti issue. it's fixed.
Actually I have been using it as daily for about 4 days now. Battery life was great 2 days, bad one day, rebooted device, and now battery is ok again. I like it allot.
