Your post is ehhhh a little confusing. But from what I understand you ARE NOT rooted right now that you are completely stock. if this is the case, then no you cannot downgrade because of your bootloader. IF you want you can try to run the RUU from your computer to your phone and see if it will let you do it.

The manual root process for 2.02/2.10 hboots includes image files with downgraded radio files. I guess it is possible that the new hboot is blocking the radio downgrade during the flash.

If I flash an older rom, can I then use an older RUU?

I wasn't sure about the answer to this question, so I thought I'd just go to Q&A and ask. I searched and didn't find anything on this specifically. I'm a bit worried about using the latest RUU since the whole 2.02 HBoot thing (though I'm not sure if it would update older phones to that version). I was wondering if I'd be able to use the recovery to flash an early rooted rom and from there use an RUU and unroot it to that earlier version.
Sorry if that doesn't make a whole lot of sense, I'm just wondering if I can trick the RUU into letting me install an old version. A botched unrooting left me with the 0.93 hboot instead of my usual .76 eng hboot.
I don't think that this will work for ya, you need to downgrade your hboot. From my experiences by downgrading my hboot i was able to flash older ruu files.

Oh well, I'll just flash the latest PC36IMG.ZIP. I found it on the 2.02 hboot thread. It doesn't really matter, I only need to unroot this thing long enough to have Sprint accept it. It's been rebooting so much lately that I can barely use it for longer than 30 minutes. This was my last resort after wiping repeatedly, changing SD cards and other things.
just remember to flash the Unrevoked S-On tool too.

Radio ?????

ok im really new to android, i have managed to install a Rom. but what do i do with the radio file
A clear step by step guide would be great.
thanks
Install ENG HBOOT (S-OFF) >>Step 2 - ENG HBOOT (S-OFF)<<
If your flashing a radio I strongly recommend >>Radio S-OFF<<
Then follow >>This Guide<<

No, he needs ENG S-OFF, not Radio S-OFF
Yes, as far as I know, ENG S-Off is must to have to revert (downgrade) radio.
Apologies, Eddie1506 is correct you only need ENG S-OFF.
However, I still recommend Radio S-OFF. If your unlucky enough to flash a radio that prevents root & downgrading, Radio S-OFF comes to the rescue.
thats only if you flash the OTA update if you flash the radio sepereately you dont loose root and S-OFF
You can't do radio s-off after upgrading the radio so best to do it before. If you don't you won't have any opportunity to downgrade the radio again if it gives you any issues. It's unlikely you will get issues but better safe than sorry.

There is no sense 2.3
You'll need to downgrade, root the phone and then upgrade to a stock unbranded rom. try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905003
Downgrade to earlier version.

Oops sorry I meant sense version 2.1.
I had a search but it came up with so many different methods, it was a tad confusing. I'll back up my phone and sd card and give this a bash.

So if you have Radio S-OFF and ENG S-OFF, you can then put stock roms on?

Technically you don't need either (as long as you are rooted) but I would not recommend doing so without them.
With Radio S-OFF (often referred to simply as S-OFF) and ENG S-OFF you can flash both ROMs and Radio's.
Make sure you have clockworkmod recovery installed to make backups and restore should things go wrong.

Revert to stock hboot but with broken touchscreen?

I need to get back to stock hboot for warranty, but can't find a way to flash it without using the touschscreen. All the ways I have found use terminal emulator once booted so I can't use them. Is there a way to flash it from fastboot?
Thanks,
Rory

Doesn't flashing an RUU overwrite HBoot with stock one? I know it will leave radio S-OFF but I'm pretty sure that it overwrites HBoot, I could be completely wrong and please correct me if I am.

Nope, did RUU update and stayed with eng hboot with S off
Running the 1.32.405.6 RUU will restore Ship S-ON.
Running a 1.32.405.6 RUU will revert hboot (ENG to SHIP) to stock, but it will not revert S-OFF to stock S-ON if you have Radio S-OFF.

sigh. yet another how to unroot and revert to stock question

Hi there, I'm just going to get to the point. I want to unroot and revert to stock, however, as I've researched, I'm just slightly confused. I know there's a million threads but I can't seem to find a straight answer.
What I have:
hboot .76
radio 2.15.00.05.02
PRI 2.15
I rooted using some kind of flash exploit when the evo was still newish (summer 2010).
I've looked into using revolutionary's unroot option, but i'm unsure if that's the best way. If it is, after I get S-on can I go ahead and flash the latest official rom and radio package via recovery? If not, what's my best option?
Thanks.
Since you have Hboot 0.76 and rooted with some kind of flash exploit method (It was either Toast Method or Simple Root, which is Toast Method inside a program), you just need to run any official HTC PC36IMG.zip file or RUU and your phone will be unrooted with S-ON. However, since you want the latest radio package, you should probably run the latest RUU or PC36IMG file from HTC.
that simple? Thats a relief then. Thanks
