[Q] Desire Z - How to arrange apps AFTER I added them to folders? - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I created some folders on the desktop and added some apps there. Is there a way to re-arrange the apps inside the folder? When I add a new app, it will always be last and I couldn't find a way to re-sort or at least sort them alphabetically.
Do you know something I don't, or is this another HTC software failure and I should search for another folder app in the market?

No reply, so I guess it's not possible to configure the folders after created, right?

I don't recall being able to config folders much other than renaming. This is not Windows.
This ain't no htc software failure.....believe me. That's like blaming amtrack because your alarm clock didn't go off.

Any way to change the order of items in folders?

I've got quite a few folders on my homescreen for bookmarks and apps etc and would like to change the sorting criteria of the items or even better sort them how I like so they are placed in the folder how I like.
Anyone able to do this or have any ideas?
Cheers
For Apps in a folder I have not yet found a solution.
For Bookmarks I am using the LiveBook app (a Live Folder). It will show all Bookmarks alphabetically - which is exactly what I want, but your needs may be different of course.

are folders for apps/games/utils possible?

Hey,
im trying to do a nice theme and what id ideally like is the option to have on the main page to have shortcuts to folders containing just specific items such as games/utils/general apps instead of linking to the full app catalog and having to sort through.
at the min im just using one of the main pages thats full of games and it looks untidy so id like to sort it out
cheers
Touch the screen for a prolonged period of time and it should pop up a menu with "folders" in it
As above or get Smart Shortcuts from the market....
or search for apps organizer in the market, this allows you to create folder and add any app you want to them. from there you can use these folders as widgets
there's this "folderorganizer" in market...... lite is free, but pay for full features...

In your app drawer? not possible (yet) as far as I know
On your homescreens? Android does that natively, no need for an app to make a folder for your games.
What I do to keep things organized and keep my app drawer from looking like a scrapyard of apps is I make folders for stuff (right now I just have tools and games) then I hide all the apps in those folders, as well as any other apps I don't need to see in my drawer (like chrome-to-phone, its a one time setup). I use LauncherPro which lets you hide apps in the drawer.
best solution I've found is an app called apps orginaizer - best app management tool out there imho. Does exactly what you're looking for.
Ok maybe this will be better looking for a app so I don't see so many when I bring up apps I rather see a folder with all games in there not see 5 games when I hit home than bring up apps that's where I want to see the folders

[Q] Folders in HTC Desire HD Launcher

Hi, my name is Danny.
I'm new to this forum, and i am looking for some information.
I've searched everywhere i know, but never found the answer for my question.
First of all, i am setting up my own custom ROM for my Desire HD.
And i hate the fact that HTC does not integrate the feature to add folders to their launcher menu (like Blackberry), and that it does not to allow to sort Apps in your own way (like i.e. Samsung Galaxy S Launcher menu).
That's why i was looking for the location on the device where i can find some kind of referring file or folder where potential shortcuts or commands are stored wich refer to my installed apps. (If it exists wich it probably does)
I'd figure that if there are shortcuts stored, it might be possible to edit the directory and add folders where i sort out my apps, or if there's a file which stores the command's for the launcher, i might be able to add folders to the list.
This whay, apps would not be displayed sorted out alphabetically, but displayed all categorized in the folders i created (BB like).
I hope everybody understands what i mean and that somebody can answer my questions.
Kind regards,
Danny
Just instal CM7. It's very customizable.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
yep, custom roms like cm7 would give you that extras you search for

Sense Home Widget Issues

Hello,
My Sense Home Widget is not working properly. Pinned items disappear. Also, how am I suppose to add new folders (and apps) to the widget? Every time I remove something some other app automatically gets placed in there. I figured a work around with apps by creating a folder with a current item and the new item then removing the one I don't want... but that is a stupid design. I suppose I could do the same thing and recreate all the folders, but you think it would be easier... why cant I just drag them from another home screen. Anyone else having these issues?

Sense Home is designed to automatically populate with the apps that you use most in the particular location you're in. If you want to use it, then just set your locations and use your phone as you normally would in each location and the widget will learn which apps you use where and populate the widget accordingly.
If you want total control, then just place shortcuts directly on your home screens, but you won't have the location-specific feature anymore.
I understand it is meant to auto populate, but that doesn't account for pinned items disappearing or the lack of an intuitive way for manually adding items to that widget.
