anybody else having problems with the android xda app - Gen8, Gen9, Gen10 Themes and Apps

is anyone else using the xda app here I can't get it to do much of anything once I log in.

Since updating to 2.0.71 from 1.0.84 the xda app has been pretty much useless.
It force closes often while trying to view threads and ALWAYS force closes on exit if I'm logged in so it loses the login data. Start up time is also excessive.
Had no problems on the 2.1 firmware whatsoever.
Market problem? Firmware problem? App problem?

Confirmed... alas, it didn't work from the start, even with 2.1.

Same problems here.

It never worked for me, either. I remember with my Eris that when we got Froyo we had to use an older version of XDA for a while. My first Archos died before i could investigate, and i just got my replacement yesterday. I will try to find an older version.
If anyone has an older one they could post...Im too scared to search the XDA forums with any of these keywords "xda, apk, developer, application"...

Xda app is never work once I logged in, failed.
I use tapatalk, working perfectly on my A70IT. Xda app is based on tapatalk, it looks identical.

doesnt work for me too

Thanks, that certainly works better! Although, with this version theres no favourite forum feature? So you have to navigate to the required forum each time - unless I'm missing something?

No good for me either. Constat force close

I have two Android tablets, an Archos 101 and a Zenithink ZT-180. Neither one works with the newer XDA application - FC after a few clicks. This older version does run, though devoid of most features that makes it useful. Is anyone embarassed?
Bye.

It's a shame, the new version is so much better, the old version works but lacks off all the practical features ,is this apply even in further development or is it frozen.

New on here .
Xda app works perfect on my desire, but the app fails every time on my archos 70 as soon as i sign in .

Speed up Market Place and Paid Apps Tab

Speed fix for Froyo Roms on MARKET
After playing with alot of Roms one thing i noticed is the incredible slow speed of market loads and searching. LeeDROID rom has excellent market speeds. The attached file is a grab of Market files from the LeeDROID rom and then packaged up to flash.
This has been tried on multiple roms and gives EXCELLENT SPEED WITH LOADING, SEARCHING and even DOWNLOADING. It is also know to give you back that illusive PAID TAB in some instances (has worked for me every time)
Give it a go and let us know what you think. Countrys with no paid apps may not add the paid tab.
Also once rebooted it may take half hour to sync up with Google before you notice the speed. But once its going it is alot faster
ENJOY!!
Install - Flash zip from Recovery or ROM Manager
of course always nandroid first before flashing anything.
I take no responsability for bricks
Big thanks to LeeDroid (and congrats on the new baby) and also dancedreamfly for helping with packaging

Does it actually remove the Market or can it work alongside (for comaprison purposes it would be useful to download the same app within each)

i couldnt tell you, i have only ever tried on Sense Roms, Previous users have told me it worked on non sense roms such as Defrost so I should imagine it would work fine as it doesnt edit any of the framework of the rom.
Ill try it tonight and see but if you wanna have a go nandroid it first and let me know the results

The new youtube app isn't the only one that was updated. Most of the gapps also have new versions on the market. For example, the shopper app or the street view app had new versions on the market that I wasn't aware of until I searched pub:"Google Inc." You guys should probably download those as well.

Yeah probably, but the apps weren't linked to the market so I had no idea that some of the other apps were updated too. For example, maps always updates itself so I assumed the rest of the gapps would do the same.
Try avoiding the use of the "back" button while you're in the YouTube app. It hasn't crashed for me since I stopped. I'm sure an update will come pretty soon. This is an entirely new version of the app, it may take awhile to get all the bugs worked out. Looks promising, though. I like the UI.

New market update

New market update confirmed and coming soon according to Google. I think it looks pretty awesome. People are already yelling about the WP7 comparisons, but I think its pretty slick.
I think it looks quite smart. Bring it on
yup its very pretty, so us rooted users wont be able to rent movies?

also if you're rooted you can try to wipe market data in titanium backup and reboot. or wipe cache and reboot and try that.
Works pretty dam good on non-rooted stock.
Video is nice and smooth. Couldn't really tell I was streaming on mobile data. (Which was probably 4g)

dang! Im running the pyro rom but cant get this to install. it just says "Application not installed" anyone has any ideas how to fix this?
Anyone having issues updating apps? I've had 2 apps now show up in the 'update' heading, but when u click thru to the app the top dialogue boxes are 'open' and 'uninstall', as if that page doesn't recognize that there's an update.
Once 2 apps were available for updating, the "update 2" button comes up and it allows me to hit it. 1 of the 2 updated. the other still won't. Tried wiping Market data and rebooting, no luck. bleh.
UPDATE: Well after doing several reboots and etc. etc., I just simply went back to the file (From this thread) and re-installed the market again. Now the 'update' button shows up! Not sure what I did but it works now.

new market, what do you think?

Hi there! Just saw that theres a new market for android and thought id start a thread where everyone could share their opinion!
http://googlemobile.blogspot.com/2011/07/new-android-market-for-phones-with.html
New market:
http://www.4shared.com/file/We4ubY3v/comandroidvending-1.html
Old market (from gapps-gb-20110613-signed_rc1):
http://www.4shared.com/file/jpMBtIzA/Vending.html
for me, the new market look is really neat, the way things organized is better than just lists like the previous one.
but at the first use, it might take a while since the market needs to cache the images first, but downloads now are top notch
Aside from the look -- like it or hate it -- had trouble with search locating apps.
actually i liked the old one better because of its simplicity and the new one lags until it has loaded the pics. it will take some time to get used to it. but well see
Looks good but slow and fc must if the time.

Yes, old one is better.
Old one was more faster. I miss too while i'm looking for some, while tiping, no hits come on the new market. But it is more kind and i think it have a better organize from the app's.
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
The new version of Market looks good but slower than the older version. I think I'll keep using the older version until google improve the stability of new Market.
The old market is better and faster the New one is to complicated to find apps
Send from my brain using Tapatalk
I would rather have the old one, when you do a search now you get app, books, and ??? (don't remember) then you have to click again to see the apps. Looked to see if there was an option to not see the books and whatever in the search but I couldn't find it,
I think it is slower and take more clicks to find what you want. Guess I'll just use the web version until they mess it up too.

Hulu App: G2 CM7

How do I get this app to work on my G2? I'm rooted and running CM7 2.3.7. I have an identical G2 with the same program on it running the same mod and hulu works on it. I would be using that phone but the volume button is broken so I had to root this one I have now to replace it. I don't understand why it runs on a rooted G2 before but doesn't on this new one I have. The only difference I see when I go to "About Phone" is the Baseband Version.
The baseband version on the one that works is 12.28h.60.140fU_26.06.02.27_M
The baseband version on the one that doesn't work is 12.22.60.09bU_26.02.01.15_M2
Is this a factor?
Is there a patch? A zip file of some sort or a work around Cyan has found to fix this?
What do you mean "work"? Are you not able to install it or run the app or watch shows? If you can't watch shows, it's probably because you need to have subscribed to Hulu Plus and then logged into the app.

WOW ... sorry ... I don't know what I said but I didn't mean to offend you.
I've been looking around and there doesn't really seem to be a clear answer for those peoples issues with Hulu Plus.
One of the simplest fixes appears to be turning off any Ad-Block apps you have running. Make sure after you turned that app off that you reboot your phone at least once to make sure that the app is turned off.
A lot of the other fixes for Hulu appear to only be to play it through the browser.
