Finally!!!!! Working Themes using a Vending-2.2.7-signed-testkeys.update.zip FILE - G2 and Desire Z Themes and Apps

Here it goes.
I have a G2 running Android 2.2.1 with CM 6.1.1
Vending.apk was originally 2.2.6 so I updated it to 2.2.7
Check version by going to Menu/Setting/Application/Manage applications/...
Look under Downloaded if not check under Running for Market. Click on it and check Market version (your version)
I tooked the Vending.apk file from Vending-2.2.7-signed-testkeys.update.zip and replaced it with the Vending.apk from Black_market_3.zip.
You can use 7zip,Winrar or any program that will access these files.
system/app/Vending.apk <- change this file.
Run BlackVending-2.2.7-signed-testkeys.update.zip on ROM Manager
Let you phone reboot check your market and let me know.
Over six themes have been tested and work.
I would like to Thank all developers and everyone that has made this possible. Thank you.

screen shots?

I recommend an explainer for blackmarket in the op. Most are unaware of it, imo. From us who do... nice work!
Wait a minute... if this blackmarket or the new market themed black, lol?
Nevermind... its just a themed market apk, oh well. Blackmarket is a warez related app so I better not bring it up nor would it be posted here. My bad...

if I am replacing vending.apk within Vending-2.2.7-signed-testkeys.update.zip, then wouldn't I be flashing that one instead?
Never mind. I figured out what you did...
Sidenote, can we not have this suitcase for an icon but have the original icon? That would be nice if it's possible...

I think he was just giving you an option for a themed one and regular 2.2.7... why there is a 3rd file is a mystery to me. In other words there are two black market apks that are the same version, lol! They are all 2.2.7... there is no need to flash one and then the other... very redundant...

There is no need to flash all three files.
BlackVending-2.2.7-signed-testkeys.update.zip is a working update with a black theme.
Vending-2.2.7-signed-testkeys.update.zip is just a normal udpate to 2.2.7
Black_market_3.zip is a update to a black theme market but, for some reason this file doesn't work for many.
Taking the Vending.apk file from Black_market_3.zip and copying/replacing the Vending.apk file from Vending-2.2.7-signed-testkeys.update.zip
I made a working BlackVending-2.2.7-signed-testkeys.update.zip files and others as well check the files below:

There is an app called MetaMorph in the market that allows one to apply themes on top of each other. Most themes modify a file called framework-res.apk in the /system/framework directory, and most themes simply overwrite the file. MetaMorph actually unpacks the file and changes only the required files within the package. MetaMorph also does this with other .jar files and .apk files.
The problem with MetaMorph is that is usually reboots the phone or crashes while applying a theme. In most cases, the theme is applied despite the crash. Sometimes it isn't, in this case, the only option is to try again.
Also, some themes are device specific, so caution is recommended.
I recommend you Nandroid before you do any morphing.

[LIVEWALLPAPER] ORIGINAL Livewallpapers.apk Nexus S

New port. It's the LiveWallpapers.apk from Nexus S, the ORIGINAL. Very smooth and zero problems. Had to decompile and fix some lines.
Back up and Delete your original LiveWallpapers.apk Then Push to /system/app with the usual permissions. Enjoy.

hello, I need a clarification: I have to rename the file from NexusS.apk to com.android.nexuss.apk before installing it? I also noticed that the animation does not start where I touch the screen, but a little to the right.

Works on CM7 vo-1 flawlessly, I just wanted to see a list of paid apps that aren't installed like there where on older versions.
Thanks, installed without the need to push it to system app on my nexus 7.
Thanks. As said, you can now view the details of an app in My Apps and return to the list without it leaping to the top. I still miss being able to see a list of purchased apps though.

In my system/app the playstore is named phonesky.apk, not vending.apk (using s'perience rom). What should i do?

Inverted Holo Blue Android Market v4.1.10

5/17: UPDATED to v4.1.10
In case anyone is interested, I found a very nicely themed (inverted holo blue) Market v4.1.10 on the SG3 I9300/I9305 Forum... link below. Works perfect and looks great on the GNote2 (I'm running CleanROM ACE v4.9, but I'm sure it will work perfectly with any of our roms). I pulled the "Phonesky.apk" out of the zip and installed it (via Root Explorer) to /system/app. (first copying to /system to fix permissions (rw.r..r..), then moved to /system/app). Reboot... walaa. Enjoy and be sure to hit Kryten2k35 (UltimaROM developer) THANKS ! Remember to backup first (just in case) and copy your current Phonesky.apk to a safe location if you wish to revert (but Google appears to be rolling out the new v4.1.6 now anyway). If you already have the new Google v4.1.6, you'll need to uninstall updates, then move this inverted v4.1.6into /system/app. I opted to install this way as I'm not sure if the install scripts are the same between S3 and GN2... so didn't want to flash his zip strait way. Enjoy. Screenshots in Post#2
Update: see posts below... other have reported back you can flash the installable zip on the Note2

It's in an installable zip for another device... so not advisable to flash (not sure if the binary scripts / partitions are the same as our device). I just picked the inverted theme zip I wanted and downloaded it. DON'T FLASH IT. Extract it and pull out the Phonesky.apk (in Ultima/app folder). Go to Manage Applications and Uninstall Updates for Google PlayStore... then copy the new Phonesky.apk to /system... and fix permissions (to RW.R..R..)... then MOVE to /system/app.... reboot. PLEASE REMEMBER TO DO A NANDROID (backup your system, data, boot partitions) FIRST... in case things go south you can restore.

Dark MMS.apk for 4.2.2

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1745830
A while ago I tried to find a fix for using dark themes (saves battery life) but MMS text always turned out black on black. Making it unreadable.
So after a some investigations I am happy to say I have a fix that works with sending images

Curious,
just installed this and the icon on the homescreen is still that green default native app one.
I really dig that ics colored icon, is there a way to change it within the app as opposed to using something like desktop visualizer? I'm looking for it to install that icon by default.
I know i can decompile the apk and change it that way. But I'm prepping to do a reinstall on my pc and don't want to install an apk tool till after.
If not that's cool, just figured I'd ask

i dont think u can change the Icon of the Messages app ... the icons come from Framework-res.apk .. you have to change it there or use a theme :good::fingers-crossed:
Here's another hmm for y'all. And I'll mention that I pulled the native mms apk from the phone first.
Does anybody have the app going back to the light colors after a reboot? I still have the native apk but it's on my sd card. So I can't see where it could be influencing the dark apk. But sure as the sun rises in the east, when I have to reboot for some reason it reverts. If I reinstall the dark apk it all goes back to what is supposed to be, and I retain all my messages. Just curious if it's just me. Or something I did
Oh, figured out how to get the ics icon to show on your homescreen.
Before you flash your Rom, go into system/app and pull the green mms.apk, and replace it with the dark version. When the phone boots it'll use that apk and viola. Ics icon and dark mms.
Hope this helps somebody. Personally I think the dark version actually sends the msgs faster. Maybe it's in my head, but it sure felt that way,
Update: for clarification, this needs to be done on your pc. Don't have to unzip the file or anything, just open it as you would a normal file/folder. I is definitely say to do this before transferring the Rom file to you device. It seems to take forever otherwise. Plus one on the phone, it seems you can't change the name of the file. Which I'd definitely recommend. Just name it "mms.apk" the device seems to take care of the permission stuff itself.

Using root explorer you can just paste it into the system/app folder, also if you use Titanium backup then once its installed you can incorporate the update into the rom. This means it will always boot with your new .apk
I have just installed the BlackOut clear theme with mms.apk and all the rest. You can install all the zips etc for GAPs as well

http://www.slimroms.net/index.php/downloads is where I got mine from, there is a little variation from rom to rom but generally pretty mint. Plenty of dark gapps in there as well, I used most of the 4.4 ones in the SlimRom except for the camera which I got from a normal google apk.

Hi Rohov, its in the rom.zip all the mms.apk s are in the /system/app folder. You can use any zip program to open them and pull the apks out. Once they are on your phone you may need to change the permissions to -r -rw -rw itll make sense in the root browser if not post me.
Here as requested is my current fav mms.apk tho.
