"Really!"

Depends if its sold out because of lack of stock, like what happened with the Euro launch. Not really worth mentioning unless the number of units sold is known.

actually it still shows demand is higher than expectation, regardless of the figures this is still a good sign. MS is putting in this much work on something they expected to have low initial sales shows they are looking at a longer picture. I still firmly believe that this first batch of devices is just a soft launch and we will soon see the real push once MS has patched the holes that are being used to attack them. I think MS are doing a great job with the software and if they can get the right push then the sales will show reward for there effort. I don't think it will be to long before we see stands in shopping centres demoing phones and pushing the brand but MS will want everything in place first.

I am one of Thai who rushed to buy HD7 on the first day it launched.
It seems like a good news that HD7 has been sold out. Anyway, what I know is that only 500 units are coming into Thailand, just to test the market.
Many people delay their decisions to buy WP7 as there is no Thai (also east Asian language) support. WP7 now cannot display Thai language. Thai can be typed via the third party application that allows posting only to SMS, e-mail, facebook status, and foursquare shout.
Also, we cannot buy any applications from marketplace as it has not yet supported Thailand.
It sounds strange why MS has chosen to launch its product in Thailand without Thai language support. I'm quite sure that East Asian language support is still not yet to come in this coming minor update in February.

Mobbyway : a new and efficient radar detector

Hello everybody,
just a message to announce a new freeware to detect speed camera. it's a french software, with live update for the mobile radar.
you can find this jewel her : http://www.mobbyway.com/
the soft is under development, and the skin is enough "rustik", but it should become a must have.
drive and enjoy !
the image is too large so it wasn't upload on the first post
French software meaning, not compatible for us users living in United States?

The only needs is to be many users on the road and if your data account is free, you can use everywhere.
Just hope to be enough users in front of you to give information to server but it’s everybody problem

I realize not everyone lives in the US, but not everyone lives in France either...
I always thought XDA was a non-US site to begin with...
Hi guys,
4 months since the last answer on this thread... It's time to "up" this thread once again !
First of all : don't use the zip file provided in the post #2, because it's really really too old now.
Go to www.mobbyway.com to download the latest version (v21 for the moment !)
Many things have changed with this brilliant software...
About 4 to 5 new versions release, a growing and growing amount of users (especially since the beginning of september) and an android version release . And a really reactive forum and team.
Iphone version should be available in November and the amount of informatics dummies that are using "this high technology phone" (hum hum) will, I hope, really increase again the number of users.
I use this software for 3 months and the number of user has amazingly increased !
Nevermore alone on the road ;-)
As said previously, it's a software written in France but also used in Belgium, Netherlands.
If the law allow it (for instance in Germany this kind of software is not allowed), I think you can use it all over the world (it's just GPS coordinates that are transmitted, and I think they will not be stopped at the border ;-)
You should give it a try, because it's really impressive (and free).
Remember that this kind of software is "cooperative" so, even if there are not many users in the beginning, continue to use it and this will reinforce the community.
That's what we call in French a "snow ball effect" (if this snow ball downs a slope)

10 Oct 2010 - Windows Phone 7

Sorry about the title, typed in the wrong date.
It's confirmed. Windows Phone 7 will launch on the 11th of October in New York. T-Mobile is one of the launch carriers. AT&T is confirmed to be the second.

This seems more like speculation with a bit of truth. Don't really care though I'm on Tmobile, because I know it will come soon.
I plan on upgrading , but I won't do it until I see a device with a 32GB option. If not then I'll just get the Zune HD2 64GB (If it is real) with a Android Device.
T-Mobile is definitely not the only carrier for WP7.

It very well may be that AT&T will be exclusive for a bit with T-Mo getting devices later. Maybe AT&T is getting them the same date as Europe (October 21st) and T-Mo is launching November 8th?
I don't believe its a lunch. Its just a press meeting for people to see what the finished devices are like.

Depends on your definition of "launch". In this case, they're showing off the devices and announcing retail availability, etc. Everything about the v1 release should be fully open... no more of this "we can't tell you that" (except in regards to future updates).

Right. But it won't be available to consumers right on that day will it? That's what I meant. I associate "launch" to "consumer-availability"

Omnia on Orange

Just a quick question to others who have the Omnia now from Orange.
Is it just me or have Orange removed the Samsung Daily Briefing hub on other handsets?
Also is it possible to re-download this?
Thanks.
Has it been released? I just looked on their website and it says that its coming soon.
Yeh it is. If you ring up you can get it.
Me and my sister both got one delivered today. On both our handsets the Samsung apps have been removed.. quite annoying really. Would really like to get them back.
Not on my one either, so definitely looks like they've removed it,seems they've replaced it with Orange Daily. Not exactly a fair swap I say!!
Tell me about it. Even on marketplace through Zune the Samsung store doesn't have it. All you can download is the photo share app and some app from the 3 network.
Guys it's available!..
Marketplace -> Samsung Zone -> 'Now'
EDIT: It was there and I downloaded it... but now it's gone! Along with the network settings app...
It's still on my device though quite fast too
It's called 'Now' and it's just that the tile image has a picture that says Daily Briefing

Gutted, not there
Hopefuly it will re-appear at some point. I would like having all that info in one hub. The Orange "replacement" is... lacking
Will be interesting to see If It comes installed on the unbranded sets. Just waiting now for the stock to come in and be sent out.
And I wish there was a specific Omnia forum on here so we don't have to fill up the general forum.

Agreed, whilst similar the Omnia and Focus are different.
So the Omnia is definitely branded and locked to orange I guess (?)
Well, yeah on Orange, who let's face it are notorious for 'branding'. This is however less of an issue with W7 to be honest (apart from the obvious removal of 'Now').
Be interesting to see if the T-Mobile version has the 'Daily Briefing Hub' left intact.
It certainly is Branded by a glowing orange stamp lol
But all orange software can just be uninstalled like any other app, although 'Your Orange' is really useful! It shows you of how many remaining minutes and texts and bundle you have!
Is there any way to buy one...but traveling to uk?
HTC HUB
Any idea how to install HTC HUB on Omnia 7 ?
Any idea of a process to get oulook contacts and calendar on W7 ?
Thanks
PS please Microsoft continue to develop windows mobile for peaple who are not using a phone just to pass time as a game pad !!

My guess is you can't, that's one of the very few way OEMs can differentiate WP7.
Well, the 'Now' App appeared on my Marketplace under the Samsung Zone today, so grabbed it while waiting on the bus.

Leaked Asus WP7 !!

This is what they have to say:
“We want to be more focused, so we do a lot of integration in terms of the software and maps. This kind of integration takes time, so we won’t launch a lot of models like other competitors. We want to be focused and provide the best location-based services for our customers” Fei Yen, Garmin-Asus

Let me translate that for you: "We are going to mess with the software until WP7 will be completely unstable and lagging as hell. Furthermore we are trying to determine what the competition has been doing wrong to be sure that we are able to make the same mistakes. Then, months late, we will provide an ugly handset with outdated hardware and crappy software, just like we always did."
I don't think it looks that bad at all. Just a bad picture of it
Thanks, but that picture already got posted months ago...

I'm from Cologne (Köln).
Maybe the event will be at the (2008 opnened) Microsoft building at the Rhein in Cologne.
Yes, it's a giant M(icrosoft) with its own Lufthansa Check in and Marina.
If its in a smaller location it can be at 4010 (a new Concept Stor by Deutsche Telekom).
http://4010.com/home?loc=Köln
sorry but Nokia do not show any devices to this event
http://thisismynext.com/2011/08/02/nokia-microsoft-windows-phone-gamescom/
I really hope we see some WP7 devices from Nokia, soon. I always liked their phones in the pre-Smartphone area and hope that their Windows phones will be as good as their old stuff used to be.
More to the point, Nokia need to get there devices now, certainly before the next iphone, as soon as that comes out it will be game over as far as building any momentum is concerned. If it comes out before hand and its the n9 design as leaked (great design by the way) and its pushed heavily with advertising across the board then they might stand a chance.
Its all well and good being hush hush on future devices, but on a launch like this with a new phone on a new os (for them at least), they need lots of stock, lots of advertising, and they need confirmed dates that the public can await and look forward to. So far Nokia have been far to slow yet again to react, which is the reason there in this mess to begin with.
my 2cents anyway.
Unless I am WOWed, I'll stick with old HTC...good dependable phones for the most part....
I hope the first Noika models to the US are fully maxed out with front camera and all the bells you can wish for. Not the low end, low price point models they are talking about.
Mayby they show a N-GAGE like Windows Phone 7.5 for Gamers!?
IMO a phone with Joypad-like Buttons and Xbox LIVE (more great games will come after Mango release with all the new API) would be THE phone for Gamers.
Day one for me!
I will be there with my hawkeyes. Strength of the hawk
