[Q] Battery/Case Questions - EVO 4G Accessories

Which would you get? Also Does The Knockoff Batteries with the door fit in the seidio extended cases without modifications? If it doesn't fit can I just buy a seidio extended door and use the knockoff battery? I appreciate the feedback and sorry if this has been posted I'm just having a hard time choosing.

Does anyone know if the chinese batteries with back can fit the seidio rugged extended case or would I have to but a seidio back to cover the chinese battery?

hey man if youre after sprint extendeds then I seen them on ebay for like 20-25 bucks maybe? I cant remember. But also, there is a battery door and an extended battery for like 10 bucks.
chinese extended: http://cgi.ebay.com/3500mAh-Extende...Accessories&hash=item2c59076a4b#ht_4542wt_907

That's a good deal I found 2 3500mah, 2 doors, 1 external charger, a warranty, and getsu delivered in. 1-3 business days for $33. I was trying to figure out if the chinese batteries can fit in the seidio rugged extended case with the backs they came with. I don't want to mod the case

I bought the sprint extended battery cover for $10 on ebay. It will fit with any of the ebay battery's with no mods.

Hi
I bought this battery almost a week ago from this seller.
3500mAh Extended Battery + Cover for Sprint HTC EVO 4G(this is my first post and it dosen,t aloow me to post a link
I bought mine for only 10$, and the seller shipped that really fast. The only probleam with china batteries is that those battery die relly fast, like for me it can keep my phone up only for 8 hours(I usually watch alot of movie, video, and internet serching).I tried every way that you can get better battery life(advance killer set setup to kills all app uto, GPS off, 4G off, churg battery for 8 hour and turning phone off and churg the battery for another hour). But for me that battery is fine as long as keep the churg for 8 hours(Its alomt 2 times keeps churge better than stock battery) but if you want to spend 30$ and get 2 junk battery why you don't spend 50$ and get a battery that it can keep churge more than 2 junk battery?

Do you have a link I've been searching or what did you search?

I wouldn't buy from those manufacturers if I were you. Check out batteryboss.org. Some guy evaluated those battery capacity claims and a lot of them are flat out lies.
I have been a Seidio customer for years and have always being very pleased with their extended battery solutions for all my devices. My experience is that they did extend the battery life of my devices significantly. Without a reputable protocol and some raw data I will trust my previous experience over "some guys" who did "some tests".

Sorry to tell you this, but...
http://batteryboss.org/ These guys are testing a variety of aftermarket batteries for their true capacities, and the one you purchased is included n their test. They only got 1100 mAh out of the actual battery, under the name TP2 Andida, new in their chart.
Good thing you only spent ten bucks, though.
No kidding, the TP2 battery fits? That's the EXACT same battery the hero uses!!
Luckily, I bought two of them, and just got a TP2 as my work phone. That means I suppose, that I have four batteries
btw, those batteries probably aren't 2000mA, but they're nearly as good if not a little better than stock, and for ten bucks each, not too bad.
EDIT - Duh, I see you said you got it from the Hero forums.
Seidio hasn't released their 3500 mAh extended battery for the Evo yet. I'm patiently waiting, as I bought that battery for my hero. I went from charging every day, to every other day.

I like what they did with the rear door. I hope they bring out a hard-case to also work with this battery. To keep it then, they could just cut out the back of the case in the middle where the battery extrudes. The rear cover will provide significant protection anyways.
the seidio batteries are awesome but they are worthless if you dont have the extended case that goes with it.. id just wait for the 3500mah for the evo instead of the one for the eris cause your gonna have the case problem
I wish they would add two more mm to the battery and do 4500mah because at that point the little bit of bulk added doesn't really matter.
/b
i wonder how hot that 3500 will get, i'd rather the 1750 and not change the dynamics of the back case.
apparently only a couple of the batteries on batteryboss come close to their rated mah, i wonder what the evo 1500mah will come in as....
what is the biggest mAh you can buy without changing the back cover? I like my EVO thin.
I believe the highest mah you can get while keeping the evo slim is the 1750 by Seidio. But for 40+ dollars I dont think an extra 250 is worth it
I just wish they would make the battery 1-1.5mm thicker and add whatever they can to that... Then we wouldn't have to change the back.
*Here's where I am horrified to find out I am the only one who's battery cover doesn't really fit on the phone*

Id just wait for the charging case thats comming out.
I wonder if the 2150mah OEM for the TP2 will fit into the evo, and I wonder how much the case will have to be extended. It is the only battery that tests at 100%.
Will the 1350 battery for the Eris work on the evo? I know the capacity is smaller, but will it fit and work?

Mugen 3200mAh battery for TP2 works in EVO

In case you need an extended battery now, I can report success with a Mugen 3200mAh unit that was intended for a Sprint Touch Pro 2. It cost $70 or 80 when I bought it around Christmas time from an eBay vendor (couldn't find it anywhere else online). Turns out the person I got it for had a Touch Pro 1 and this battery was not compatible so it's been sitting around the house ever since. I just popped it into my EVO 4G and it works perfectly as far as I can tell. Boots up normally and is charging as expected. Of course the back plate does not fit over the fat battery so I left that off and replaced the jelly case which stretches over the whole thing well enough.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280492889203&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
I bought these a while back.. worked great in my hero and work just as good in my evo. Plus now I have a standalone wall-charger. Took about a week or so to get here since its coming from Hong Kong.. But it was well worth the ~$10 for 2 batteries and a charger..
ok, i stole its soul for you.
well im glad i order mine from seidio since it comes with the back case but this is good info so i can pass my oem battery to my wife for hero hero with weak battery life
Lol. Nice evo . It's the humpback of xda.

that is disgusting! but more power to you hahaha...lets hope seidio lets you buy just the ext battery cover
oh sweet mother of god i would feel all grossed out if i tried to handle my phone and it was all squishy at the parts that aren't touching the battery or the frame...
How's the battery life with the 3200? After doing some battery life tweaks and mods mine seems to almost be sufficent with the stocker, but it can always use some improvement.
If you don't mind sacrificing the case, I would try cutting a rectangle in it that would leave the protruding part of the battery exposed and let the case hug the phone the way its supposed to. If you cut it just right, the batt should stay in place since it looks like it has a bit of an edge for the case to grip on to.
I'M starting think I should just cancel my order for the 3500 battery and get me 2 1500. What do you guys think?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I'm using the battery from my tp2 as a spare, and carry it in the smaller pocket in my jeans,i don't even feel it there sometimes. With battery tweaks and charging it in my car (usually around 30 min at a time), I only have to occasionally change to the 2nd battery. If you are sensitive to bulk, then go for 2 batteries to split the load, otherwise a bigger battery is more convenient.

Given some of the results from BatteryBoss, I'd say that the battery isn't going to perform at a full 3500mAh. It will still be more than an OEM battery, sure, but I couldn't justify doubling the size of the phone to put it in. You might be better off getting another OEM battery, HTC seems to give about 99% of what they say.
if that site batteryboss is accurate then Mugen's batteries are crap. twice the size for 50% more juice. however, some anecdotal evidence to the contrary: after buying the wrong one, i bought another Mugen extended battery that does work for the TP1 and the recipient is very happy with it. reports that the 3200mAh it lasts about twice as long as the OEM battery.
probably smart to just get another HTC 1500mAh. after the latest update battery drain is much less of an issue anyway.
So can I just go in to a sprint store and ask for a hero battery For free?

The batteries + charger that was listed earlier in this thread work GREAT I've been using them for a few days now great freaking deal ($10 shippped)
Anyone know if the Tilt battery here will fit the Evo with a modified case / back plate? http://www.amazon.com/HTC-Extended-Li-Ion-Battery-RHOD170/dp/B002Y24MJ2
I know Seidio makes a modified back plate that looks like it would fit this and according to battery boss this is the gold standard of extended batteries.
Also confirmed, the Mugen 4500mAh battery for Sprint Touch Pro 2 works in the Evo as expected. It's very... thick. About as thick as the Evo with a jelly sleeve on. Put together it's like the Evo has it's own little podium to stand on.
Assuming batteryboss tests are accurate then true capacity is closer to 75% or ~3375mAh. Main purpose for me is a power supply that can run GPS tracking apps like Cardio Trainer all day uninterrupted. Thickness not an issue since the whole package is tucked away in a Camelback.
Got it on eBay, I don't know where else to find them. Mugen is OOS and ridiculously expensive anyway. An alternative would be an external battery pack that supplies power through a USB port, then cable it to Evo.

Yeah I wouldnt deal with those amazon batteries they are okay, but your performance wont be what you expect, when you need to do is dish out the extra bucks and either get the Seidio extended battery which I suggest, or the sprint one sold at sprint itself!

LAZA makes amazing extended extended batteries and normal battery repacements. plus they also make extended battery cases.
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=bl_sr_wireless?_encoding=UTF8&node=2335752011&field-brandtextbin=Laza
After trying a few extended batteries my self, my Seidio is by far the best one I've used. With heavy usage, aka 8+ hours of streaming pandora and at least 500 sent texts a day, I get around 40 hours. Oh I also keep my brightness all the way up.
LAZA all the way. Lasts me all day with heavy use.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Laza with medium use, it last for the entire day
I have had the Yao-Bao since a couple of days after launch. They last at least one day with texting, calling, facebook etc...usually last me at least 2 days with light use. I can play music for 12 hours during work, and next day be down to about 30% with some texting and internet during the 12 hours. But do not drop them. I dropped one and the contacts moved and do not make contact with the phone contacts, take the grey tape off and it looks like it is cheaply made! Also I use Seido external battery charger.

I've been using the Seidio 3500mah. While it adds bulk, I'd say well worth it: extends my battery life about 60%.
One thing I can report is the accompanying case is rather useless. It only covers the side of the device and just adds bulk.
Anker
I heard a lot of good things about Anker batteries. Here's their website: http://www.ianker.com/index.html
I have been using the Seidio 3500mah for over a year now and am happy with it. It does add bulk and weight to the device and forget about using an regular case/cover as it will not fit. The only thing I have noticed is that for the last 2-3 months I get an early drain of the battery at the start of the day by about 20%. It still lasts me all day but find that I now have to charge it at times a few hours earlier than I use to.
Doc
Another vote for the Seidio 3500mah extended. Best purchase for my EVO ever. Especially if you tend to overclock on occasion.

(Q) OEM 1800 Mah vs. 3500 Mah

Im Looking into the Stock OEM Samsung Epic 4G Touch versus any 3500 Mah Battery i already have the Gorilla Gadgets one and its alright but i was wondering if the OEM would last just as long? If not than its not worth it.
I noticed Mugen Power is like a 100$ for a 3500 Mah
Seidio has a 3300 Mah which is 75$
Hyperion has 3500 Mah which is 25$
I noticed when i slide my keyboard out if i let it fully slide out and that spring motion kicks the battery outta place and turns off.
Yup. I had to put a little piece of thin cardboard like a matchbook cover to keep mine tight. You only gain 20% with the 1800 mAH battery but you slim down considerably. I got an OEM from Amazon for $18 shipped.

Speaking of amazon i had ordered a linux book for school and they charged me a dollar to use their prime service? and i had cancelled the order. But i ended up ordering it again because i realized it was good for the price and will receive it tomorrow. but they charged me again for a dollar? and when i went to re order it it said it was an duplicate order but when i checked in my orders there was nothing so there shouldn't been a duplicate seeing how i cancelled it the 1st. time
I don't want to end up with two books and have a payment for both.
i got 3500 and its great no complaints hear year of use and i still get 20-30 hours heavy use out of it 3 day standby

The battery contacts (metal things inside the phone that keep the battery in place) must be screwed up. Sprint replaced my phone with that problem for free, but I have noticed that the store I typically go to is nicer than other stores, so idk if that is just my store.

I got one from an Amazon seller for $12. I think it's 3,700 mah and I easily get a day out of it. However, it's stupid to use something that large and that adds weight and bulk to such a thin and light device. Especially when it's just as inexpensive and easy to simply buy 2 or 3 stock-sized batteries and a wall charger on eBay. I carry 1 or 2 spare batteries in my back pocket and don't even notice they're there. Why wouldn't you do this?
im currently testing this one.
on my 2nd cycle right now with 26% left im at:
21hs up time, 3hrs screen time about 1hr Pandora. been on 4G/3G the whole time with all my radios on but GPS.
it seems like im getting about 30% more life out of this batt vs the OEM. which seems to be getting me over a full day of use with out needing a charge.

MUGEN is a great brand, i know because i own their battery for my G2 and S2, you get what you paid for man. on test i found that the MUGEN outlast the SEIDO by 30-40 min screen on time under hard benching...now this data is of course base on S2 battery.
right now i am testing Hyperion, look for my post, i will give more update soon as i am on my 3rd full charge right now, will bench by the end of the week. I am in talking with MUGEN and Anker to give me a free sample to do a review on their battery,
id agree that "namebrand" batteries tend to yield better results.
in fact i would have personally preferred a Samsung Extended battery. but i cant see spending $100 one a 4000mAh battery from Mugen when a replacement 63Wh batt from Samsung for my M11x is $125.

Just throwing out counterpoints: It can be a hassle to have to shut down, take the phone out of a case (if you have one), swap batteries and put it back together, etc. With an extended, you don't miss a beat. Also, since the phone is thin and light, having a big, heavy battery isn't so bad -- makes it feel about the same as a lot of older phones.
That said, I'm using a stock battery, but have been considering a nice extended battery eventually.

These are my exact gripes with multiple batts.
Has anyone tried this battery/company in general? http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00757ERD2/ref=aw_ls_1_1?colid=3EACYNGZLF0SP&coliid=I2TMXT0T6H4NMI

I just don't see how any one can justify carrying extra batteries on a +600$ phone?
I mean the battery life is great already, not shabby by any means. I got 1d 11h with 3 hour screen on time on my Verizon phone this weekend on stock battery. But no call or hotspot like I do during my work day. But a ~2500mAh would probably last me the whole day even on a work day. I'd pay $45 for that with nice cover. (slightly thicker won't be such a bad thing on this phone)
I have few more days before I can return this phone to verizon for full purchase price of 600 bucks. But it's making me think twice about returning it because it's still 2x better than my rooted galaxy nexus.
Carrying extra batteries, at least for me, is zero hassle. They slip into my back left pants pocket and I never even notice they're there. Granted, I can see swapping batteries being somewhat of a hassle for some people but, even if you had an extra step in removing a protective case, how long could it really take? 1 or MAYBE 2 minutes? This phone shuts down quickly and boots up just as fast.
