Loose volume rocker - can I return - Defy General

I got my replacement Defy today and I've noticed the volume rocker seems looser than on my first device. It can be heard rattling when the phone is shook even just lightly and also when the phone vibrates and when I tap on the area of the screen closest to the rocker. The question is will Amazon.co.uk accept this as a valid reason for another replacement? I have to say they were a delight to return to originally however the original problem wasn't as trivial.
Thanks

I would return it if it were mine. The reasons is, I'd be concerned about whatever kind of a seal is supposed to be in the rocker to keep water out may not be tight or may be missing. Just my two cents.

Mine does the same noise, but until now no leaking problems. And I must say that on mine even the power button is a bit loosy.

Hard buttons are now much less responsive

So last weekend I was out celebrating my engagement, and some drunk tosser spilled all the drinks on the table down me, Now my phone was in my back pocket, and the front of me was wet, Odd thing is the next day the hard buttons, Now are almost completely unresponsive, And require me to press hard, and usually multiple times.
I had also changed my Tom to a CM7 Nightly not long before going out.
Any ideas?

Do a key test in recovery if you have cwm. If they are still unresponsive, its hardware and not a lot you can do.
Had the same issue with my volume buttons. Brought it to the shop, got it back after 3 weeks, repaired Just unroot, and flash a RUU, and bring it to the shop.
Although I would worry a bit if the phone could have been wet, it could void your warranty. Best of luck though!

I have experienced some irresponsiveness from my volume buttons. How much did they charge you to fix it or was it fixed during the warranty period?
here is a good idea if your button's are much less responsive.
you can use it for back-menu-search-home. you can add this to the joystick.
desire must have root.
it is in german.

I have similar problem with the Home key. My desire (original AMOLED) is nearly 15 months old, and been working perfectly fine up till about a month ago. I think some dust got inside or something.
Here is how i fixed mine:
Turned off the phone, remove battery cover and batteri (i removed SD card too)
I sprayed deodorant directly into button. I would have gone with electronics cleaner spray but didnt have it at hand. It helped a little but not much.
Then, a direct jet from compressed air can for about 5 seconds.
Waited a minute, then put batteri back in and it works better now. Maybe it helps you?
Direct jet from compressed air can< meant to say i kept the can upside down and let the fluid get inside buttons (before evaporating almost instantly).
there is a program called button savior that really helped me. Now I dont have to use the buttons. (root required)

Yup, but to enter recovery you need the volume key. I think thats what he means
Thats true, but he could boot into recovery from rom manager or by long pressing the power button (if that still works)

But doesnt such programs only work once device is up and running? That would not work when you need to select up/down (volume keys) in bootloader.
Yes but I think if you boot into recovery from rom manager you can swype the track pad to move up and down, and press it to select the option? If all buttons are completely unresponsive though and the phone won't even power on there is nothing you can do.

Volume rocker broken after disassembly

Ok guys, my volume rocker is not working. I replaced my power button because it had recesed too far to function anymore, and after i reassembled the phone, my volume rocker had stopped working. So, i disassembled the phone (have done so a few times now) and adjusted the rocker, but it seems the rocker connectors are not touching the motherboard contact points correctly. I can press it up and down but nothing happens. As you know, the rocker normally makes a "click" sound when you press it, but now there is no clcking sound. I'm hoping it's just a simple thing of matching the rocker points up with the motherboard and not some other more complicated issue that arose from me prying around inside the phone.
I've searched hi and low for a solution to this but have not found a specific answer. Just wondering if y'all had any ideas/experience with this. I'm thinking about taking some super-glue or melting a thin piece of plastic to the rocker in the hopes of making it contact correctly.. wanted to get some advice here before i go this route.
Frankly, I could get by without a volume rocker for a little while, though it is annoying, but I have an issue with needing to flash roms constantly...so...i'm sure you understand.

Hahahahhaaahhhaah. Lololol!!!!!! What a noob! Did you know in 9/10 instances a broken volume button means your a complete failure. It is also connected with a high percentage of impotence! That being said I hope things work out for you!

Well, my wife and children will testify to the fact that I'm not impotent. I'm in that 10% you spoke of. I don't ever fail, either... except at trolling. I admit that.

Power button and accidental reboots

there is a simple thing that people should realize. ..the position of the power button on the note 2 is awkward. .
.sometimes especially when you put the phone with the screen facing the thigh in the right side front pant pocket. .(especially my surgical scrubs)... the weight of the phone itself presses against the power button for few seconds and it reboots...
.I have noted this quite frequently and advice against putting the phone in the right side front pant pockets
Silly.... but true
scribbled from my note 2 (N7100)
I've also noticed this and it is annoying. We just have to get used to this phenomenon.

I know what you mean about the scrubs. The phone use to do it with mine but since i got a hard case, doesn't happen anymore

Yup. Solved mine with casing.

Haven't realize this until now
It does seem like it's in kind of an odd spot. So far there have been a few times where I've went to hit the button, but reached to high up on the phone.
The button does end up right between my index and middle finger when I'm holding it with my left hang though, so maybe that's what they were going for with the design. So far, I have had no issues with it in my pocket though. I don't ever wear scrubs either though.
Sleep / Wake Power Button Too Easy to Press Accidentally
This might be my biggest complaint about the Note 2... I love the phone overall, but that power button is TOO easy to press!
I pull up a photo and want to hand the phone to someone to look at it on that big, pretty screen, and as soon as they take hold of the phone, the volume slider pops up and/or the phone is put to sleep!! Very annoying.
I've heard about a Volume Rocker app that gives a confirmation to prevent accidental volume changes, but what about the Power Button? I'd love it if there was a tweak that maybe used a double-click to activate sleep/wake from the power button. I'm guessing this would require some type of rooted custom ROM??
I agree with what you have found.
I have had my phone do the same thing on many occasions

Rattling

Hi,
Just received my M8 and the first thing i noticed picking up the device is a rattling sound. Its already noticeable when i gently move it.
Its very loud when i shake it.
See the video (turn your volume all the way up please) :

Any more people having this ?
don't worry man, is the camera lens for the focus
It is the power and/or volume button slightly loose. Put your finger on the buttons just enough to hold them stable, then see if the rattle goes away. Seems to be a pretty common problem.

I tried that even when holding the power button and volume rocker its still te same.
Why do we get this rattling sound stuff thread in every damn device forum

so is the power button slightly loose for everyone? or is that a hardware / assembly fault? what do you think=

Volume Button

I've noticed that my volume button is not level, it seems to be pushed in more at the bottom. I'm worried that this may caused some issue later on. Can anyone else confirm if their button is like this or is it a defect. I still have time to exchange it if necessary.
My phone has the same thing - it seems like it's manufactured that way. Even a few people stated that when putting on a case, that one button feels more tactile than the other. As long as I can control both buttons without difficulty, I'm okay with it.
Cool thanks for the reply.

yea, mine has it too
Display at T-Mobile was like that. Seems common.

While it seems like it may be common it bugged the hell out of me so I took it to T-Mobile and they replace it with a new phone and this one does not have this issue. I will see after some use if it happens again.
