soft keys not working - Galaxy S I9000 Themes and Apps

Hey all.
I just got a Galaxy S. the soft keys do not function although i know they're active. I mean they light up and give the haptic feedback too but don't execute.
Is there any app to simulate the menu and back buttons that could reside in notification drawer or launched within an app with double tap of the home button? (like power strip or quickdesk)?
if there's a programmer out there, a lot of people are facing similar issues so please develop something.

Mine is 4 month old and just stoped working this morning.its really hard to use!!

Try going on stock firmware and do a touchkey firmware update through sgs tools.

Front Face Button issue.

Hi Everyone,
Just wondering if any has this issue?
Ive got a HTC Branded TyTN and I've installed various ROMs on the phone, included the standard rom. The buttons on the front of the phone seem to stop responding after 5 inputs.
For example, I activate the start menu with the Windows Button. I use the D-Pad to scroll down the list, i press it 4 times, the keys stop responding.
The slide out keyboard works fine.
Whats weird is, if i press the Ok button below the track wheel twice, I can then press the front face buttons 5 more times.
Any suggestions. I've done hardresets, Rom updates, im leaning toward a hardware issue. i'd like your input though.
Thanks

Replaced Screen - Menu Button Issues

I have replaced the screen on my Optimus G (E975k, Telstra) and the menu button works whilst the back is off, but as soon as I put the back on, the menu button doesn't work... super annoying!
I'm not sure if my clumsy attempts to replace the screen have damaged the synaptics ribbon and the cover going on puts pressure in the right spot to stop the ribbon cable making the connection for that button or what, but I'm looking for help getting around this.
Is there a way to make longpress on back arrow to open the menu, if so then 90% of my problems are solved, I can force the onscreen nav buttons to show up and that is great but it seems like a waste of space if I can work around it with a back button long press... I tried a few key remapping apps but they do not seem to be able to do what I want to do... if there is a custom rom that would support this then I would just flash that I guess.
Anyway, help from anyone would be appreciated
Thanks
EDIT: Okay so I edited /system/usr/keylayout/keypad_8064.kl
changed
Key 115 VOLUME UP
to
Key 115 MENU VIRTUAL
This allows me to use the volume up button as the menu button, so I'm out of trouble, but I would still like to map back button long press to the duty rather than lose my volume up button.
Hey man, if ur on stock i think u can use xposed modules for long press behaviors and custom button actions.. Usr gravity box etc.. If u like custom rom, many offer custom button actions

[SOLVED] SGH-T989, 'soft' home button does not go to home screen

Hello, n00b here!
I have a Samsung Galaxy S II (SGH-T989 T-Mobile), that has four 'hard softkeys', that is, touchbuttons (menu, home, back, search) outside the display area [no physical clicky Home button], and can't for the life of me, or with bad google-fu, figure out how to make the Home button take me right back to the home screen (launcher). When I press it once I just get a haptic 'bzz', and nothing at all happens. When I double-click it, as I have set in the settings, it goes to Task Switcher, from where I then can reach the home screen by tapping outside the miniaturized windows of running apps.
But, how to I make a single click go directly to the home screen?
Ideally I'd like to have the four buttons be menu=menu, home=homescreen, back=back, search=taskswitcher. Installing a specific app for it (that preferably won't eat up screen real estate with on-display softkeys), another launcher, another Settings app etc, is all okay by me as long as it fixes this major nag.
I don't get to choose other than a preset list in Settings, though. :/
System info is SAMSUNG-SGH-T989, CyanogenMod 11-20140506-NIGHTLY-hercules, Kernel 3.0.101-DIABLO-3.3, launcher Trebuchet 1.0.
(As a little gripe and boo, CM-11 on the Kindle Fire worked wonderfully, where the three on-display softkeys for taskswitch/home/back did just what I wanted them to. I can't see any reason why a JB'd phone would be unable to remap the keys to a select very few options just because they happen to be outside the actual display area. Especially as Home doesn't lead to the Home Screen. :/ )
Tons of grapefruitgrateful for any help here!

SGH-T989 Galaxy S II. Home keys aren't working. Sent phone in for charging port repairs. Sent phone back to replace touch keypad flex cable. Buttons have worked intermittently since. They also light up intermittently. I was hoping this was software related. Kies says the firmware is the latest. Any suggestions? The phone is for my 10yr old. Don't really want to invest in something new for her right now, just for games!

Volume Rocker to wake up the phone

Hey guys, 3 years and my captivate glide is still going strong.
However the power button ceased to work a few days ago. I heard CM10 has a feature built in to wake the phone on volume button press, but I can't seem to find it.
I'm currently running Android 4.3.1 with bubors CM10.2 rom.
So is there any known method to activate this feature or if it doesn't exist in this CM branch, has some other rom implemented it?
I'm aware of the Play Store Apps, that do the same thing, but they also suck a lot of juice from the battery.
Thanks in advance for any help.

My development Glide has the same probs. I use a small alias at the command line which is opening up the power menu.. it's also working over adb which is enough for me. So the question is would it be possible to execute a command when pressing a special key? I never tested that.. atm I have no access to my pc but if you like I can paste the cmd here when I'm back at my pc again

you can add this feature to anykey by edditing the system/usr/keylayout/stmpe_keypad.kl using a text editor and adding wake next to the input key .. be adviced and be careful doing this as it can brick so IN THAT CASE create a backup of the file and keep it saved if your using twrp you can replace the modified .kl fie if bricked .
Also you can add features to other keys such as at key 126 change it to
key 126 CTRL_LEFT to have your voicekey function as a control key (as in windows) and you can make that key 'wake' so that it can wake up your phone.
USEFULLNESS : you can use ctrol commands when using software like teamviewer to alt tab out of applications on windows
Is this possible to do on stock (but rooted) ICS 4.0.4?? It is a rom technically, by i think dman??
My power button does work, but out of habit from my old phone, i am still always pressing the volume button to turn the screen on/check for messages, despite having this phone for over a year (lol).
if its not complicated, id love to have it also have that function.... if its possible.
Handy with a soldering iron?
If you are handy with a soldering iron, you can actually still purchase the replacement buttons. Just google i927 power button, and a dozen of them show up on ebay. A lot of 3 was posted on there (at the time of this writing) for less than $7.

Backlight/illumination of capacitive back and app switch buttons

I got an Galaxy A5 2017, and it seems like a great device so far. However, I am confused by the back and task switch buttons being switched as compared to my Z1C I used before. This is compounded by the backlight of these buttons being off most of the time - so you have to use them blindly - activating only (very briefly) when pressing/tapping them. Is there a way to have the capacitive buttons' backlight switch on when the screen is unlocked?
Cheers!
There are some apps that can do this. I use "Button Light and Touch" to keep the lights off, but it can also keep them on.
search in google play : galaxy button lights 2 , use and be happy!
If you are confused you can use Buttons remapper from Play store to switch the back and recents.
Tried this one first, set for "always on" and like the effect so far. Thanks to all.
