Gingerbread Keyboard - Galaxy S I9000 Themes and Apps

Hi,
There is a keyboard from Android 2.3 Gingerbread on the market which you should try.
I only got it for the multitouch but the spacing etc makes you type faster.
Search it on the market and try it.
Once you download it, go to settings - locale and text and tick Gingerbread keyboard. Then go to gingerbread keyboard settings - advanced and change the custom vibration to normal if you want the vibration on keypress.

I can't find it in market
EDIT: Ok I found it. It's called "Keyboard from Android 2.3" and for me Polish dictionary is not working

Can I ask if the prediction bar in samsung keyboard still has the same behavior? You know, it comes and goes as you type and it causes the text box above to jump up and down, it is actually making me dizzy.
Everytime I start to type a word, the prediction bar pops up and the text box jumps up too. Between words the prediction bar dissapears, and the text box drops down again. This is very irritating behavior because I of course always look up at the text box when writing. It's not easy to fokus on what is written when it's jumping up and down like that.
There are many kayboards on the market that have the prediction bar up all the time even when no words are typed. But there are very few with norwegian dictionarys. The one that have norwegian dictionary is not as good as the stock in Galaxy
So how can I get in touch with developers of Galaxy to force them to make the prediction bar stay up all the time??

The prediction bar shows symbols like ? ! , " etc when you're not typing so it stays up all of the time and wont jump.

Any way to fix HTC keyboard's prediction?

Hi,
I don't like the word prediction on the standard HTC keyboard. If Itype a word that's not in the dictionary, I can either change it to the word the prediction suggests, or insert + save the word I typed in.
the problem is, sometimes I DON'T want the word saved, like it's a one-time-use word. the prediction on the android keyboard was much better; tap the word once to insert, tap another time to save. (but I like HTC keyboard's symbols-handling better)
any way to get this "tap twice to save" on the HTC keyboard too?
btw does anyone have a download link to android keyboard?
edit: oh and is it possible to turn off the "buggy" text reflow in the web browser?
Tap twice to save is not possible afaik with the standard HTC keyboard. However, if you search for the HTC_IME mod by some guy called Jonas, you will find a modded version of the keyboard which you can configure somewhat into the direction you described. Root isn't required for this keyboard btw.
Good luck!

How to make swype autocorrect onky when typing?

Is there anyway to make swype not autocorrect when I'm typing one letter at a time but allow it to autocorrect when I'm swyping?

settings...keyboard/language....swype....all options are there

Go to Swype settings as indicated in above post, or access them directly from the Swype keyboard, by hitting the flashing Swype key (the finger icon) at the lower left hand corner of the keyboard, then select "Options" from the popup.
Once in the Swype settings, go to Word suggestion, and uncheck "Auto-correction". This is what you want.
This is on by default on the newest beta, where it past versions it must have been off (or functioned differently somehow). I had the same issue, where Swype kept auto-correcting when "tap" typing individual letters, and usually changing it to a word that was nothing close to what I was typing. Especially for names, abbreviations, acronyms, etc. I kept wondering for a few days why Swype was doing that, then I found the proper setting change.

ok i thought if i uncheck auto correct, it would also stop auto correcting my swype words
Also is it possible to change the layout of the keyboard? Like make the spacebar bigger and getting rid of the voice button?

Nope, word prediction while swiping will not be affected.

Text prediction doesn't work in the browser

Hi,
I'm very, very impressed with my Galaxy Nexus and it's a superb phone.
However, as you've probably noticed, text prediction doesn't currently work in the browser and it's somewhat annoying.
Is there are workaround for this, or do we need to wait for an update?
I think it depends on the website however it is very annoying. It will still pick up spelling mistakes AFTER you've typed the word. The lack of automatic punctuation is annoying as well. Eg instead of I've it'll type it without the apostrophe.
I've tried toggling the auto correct settings but this doesn't do anything.

I use a different keyboard and it still does it when I type into the address bar. It is annoying but I think it is because if you want to type something custom into the address bar. Using the search box on a website puts it back to prediction though.
normal. Even with gingerbread and donut there was never text prediction in the browser

I'm almost positive text correction did work in the gingerbread browser. I too noticed it no longer works in the browser on ICE. Very frustrating.

Yes there was.
text prediction was never enabled in the browser search bar in gingerbread. Maybe it was enabled in other text boxes in the browser but not in the search box.
i would think itd be better without it because of how many website names or paths dont actually use real words, might be a pain in the ass always having it auto correct

that's exactly the reason why it isn't enabled.
Its not just the address bar, but also text and memo fields where text prediction isn't enabled.

OK then that should be fixed.
It's only because most people would prefer if auto-correct didn't screw up their website address bar typing.
If the browser address bar had text prediction it would drive me crazy...
Most of you are missing the point. For the address bar this makes sense, for text fields on websites and text boxes on forums it does not.
It's annoying.
It's a bug, and it's fixed in 4.0.3 (albeit at the cost of some very laggy typing).

Can't get text prediction on G3 stock

The LG keyboard is grayed out in settings and I can't select it though it is still the keyboard I'm using when I'm typing. It doesn't offer any next word predictions though from I'm reading online, it's supposed to. I like swiftkeys predictions but I'm not crazy about the layout.
The Clowdy ROM works exactly the way I want with text prediction
I'm still figuring if it was added or if it's just working correctly in the custom ROM but it's very good.

[Q] switching between keyboards while texting

I have swiftkey installed and I just got this fun keyboard called Gif Gif Gif that lets you send gifs in text messages. The gif keyboard sucks as a regular keyboard so I want to be able to switch between SwiftKey and Gif Gif Gif but it doesn't allow me to switch in the texting app ( I use Textra). I felt like in the past you were allowed to change the input by holding down on the space in the text input but I now find that it doesn't work anymore.
Any solutions or knowledge of this?
While you're using swiftkey (or any other keyboard) look in the notification bar. There should be a keyboard icon there. Drag the notification bar down and press on the keyboard entry in the list. In the list that pops up, press on the keyboard you want to use.
