[BOUNTY] $$$ to unsign a signed bootloader! - Galaxy Tab Android Development

UPDATE: APP/Patch released here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=888071
I am starting a bounty for the coders to find a way to unsign/unlock a signed/locked bootloader!
We all know that new JMx firmwares will load a new bootloader and lock it up... if any coder can reverse it and unsign it so we can flash customize kernals and ROM...he or she should get paid!
I will start the bounty with $10.
rmanaudio: £10
alterbridge86: $10
iuzar: £10
deezid: $10
retroqwe: £10 = $15
lux209: $10

Total so far: $380 USD
Donating to CF can be done directly through this link: http://jongma.org/dx.php , alternatively at can be done to [email protected].

Im not sure if i understand it wrong, but as i understand the sbl is doing all the flash work, and boot check the signature. correct me if im worng.
So patching the sbl would be a good idea, so it dont check the signature of patch it so it will always end up with pass signature.
It may not help people with all things signed, but most with sbl unsigned will be able to flash an unsigned boot and zimage.
Another way is to see if any og the G2 spl flash is possible on galaxy tab.

I assume that most people with signed bootloader will have SBL signed too cus they come together in a rom packet.

How does that fix the problem? Those ROM's are good for people who dont have signed bootloaders!
Once you make the mistake of loading signed...you cant go back!

Yeah ROTO's ROM is great!!
And yes, signed bootloader and sbl still able to flash those firmwares.
I have both signed BL and SBL and yet I go back and forth many firmwares with no problem.
So it is not so big deal to have signed BL and SBL now, as long as there is no really great kernel released yet.
We just cant flash new bootloader and kelnel = =
And yet I +1 for the idea of the Bounty ^^
Be able to get unsigned BL and SBL back will make me feel safer ^^

Yes...we can flash any JM* firmware that ROTO makes because those firmwares are signed firmwares and our bootloader will except them....so can someone without signed bootloaders as their bootloader doesnt care of it is signed or not.
BUT...lets say some new JK or JL or something else new comes out that is not signed...or lets say CM 6.1 or CM 7 gets ported soon to the tab....we will not be able to load those....or even a kernal with voodoo or OC.
Please state how much you want to add to the bounty...thanks.

I unfortunately was hasty and ended up with a signed bootloader...so count me in for $10!

count me in for $10

10 $
The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 10 characters.

£10 here as well.

count on me for 10$ as well

Thanks for all the support guys...keep them coming!
I think if we get enough money we will get the attention needed for the coders to look deep into fixing this issue.
We really need this fix for the future...as I have a feeling CM 6/7 mod or gingerbread port is coming soon for the tab.

10$ from me

You need to think bigger, $10 milion and build an RSA-1024 cracker with $10M array of FPGAs. Then maybe after 1000 years you will get the key.

Thats not a very nice post!
Maybe if it cannot be removed, it can be disabled (the bootloader check) or maybe a way to sign customized kernals and ROMs!

No problem! I have a Lifetime warranty on my Euro Tab and my name is Norris. Chuck Norris.

I think that the solution will be to find a way to bypass the signature check. And not to crack the encryption.

Lost cause probably...

what is the encryption exactly? it sure ain't 1KiB.
Has anyone talked to, or have contact with, the Koreans? If there is a cracking vector, to goes through South Korea.

S-OFF XTC Clip Group Buy (Worldwide)

With support for the Wildfire S being dropped by AlphaRevX, it looks like the only way to achieve S-OFF is using an XTC clip. For me, it's a bit too expensive to justify buying a clip and using it only once. This thread is for anyone that's interested in pooling together and purchasing the regular XTC Clip that could be shared and then resold. Post below if you are interested and want your name and country added to the list at the bottom.
UK (run by mphi)
The process:
I ordered the clip, and posted it off to the first participant who will post it back to me once finished so that I can post it to the next participant and so on. Everything is done through eBay reputation so that all participants have some protection. I'll set up a fixed price listing with payments through PayPal. eBay buyer requirements: At least 10 positive feedback comments, with 95%+ positive.
Instructions:
l00k said:
Step A) Create a goldcard with unlock feature
1. insert MicroSD/TFlash card in your XTC-Clip
2. click "Create Goldcard"
Step B) Unlock phone - (simlock, SuperCID, security unlock / S-OFF)
1. insert the XTC-Clip Flex-PCB-SIM-Adapter in HTC Marvel
2. insert the goldcard from step A) in HTC Marvel
3. attach battery to HTC Marvel
4. attach battery or usb cable to XTC-Clip
5. press [VOL DOWN] + [POWER] to start bootloader
6. wait approx. 1 minute and 30 seconds for unlock software to start
7. You will get "Get OEMSBL /Pls chk SECU-Flag on/off" Error
8. Press Vol Down now.
9. Wait approx. 30 sec while it shows Get SW Version
10. Select Diag by pressing power
11. press [ACTION] to start "Clear S58 Data"
12. press [POWER] to confirm
13. wait 10 seconds and phone will S-OFF

I'm thinking I'll order the clip and post it off to the next person, who would post it to the next person after use and so on. When everyone is done with the clip we can attempt to sell it on eBay it and then split the proceeds evenly. It could work out to be quite cheap if enough people are interested.
We'd also have to set some rules to ensure the trustworthiness of the participants (and me) and I was thinking that everything could be done through eBay so that all participants have some protection.
I'm in the UK but don't mind posting to the EU if there are not enough interested people in the UK and everyone else agrees to this.
What do you think?

I can let you have one of these for £20, this includes 1 unlock credit.
Each top up credit would be £15

Official XTC Clip Reseller
Hi Darren,
That's a great offer; thanks! I've seen your eBay auctions and the £97.99 price I quoted in the original post is from one of your listings
Though I can't speak for everyone else, I'm a real cheapskate. And buying the non-PAYG clip and sharing it works out much cheaper in the long run:
Revenue from selling used clip @ £10 discount = £87.99 - 0.034*87.99 - £0.20 (Paypal fees) - £0.40 - £1.57 - 0.03*87.99 (eBay fees) = £80.18
Initial cost each = £97.99/5 = £19.60
Estimated actual cost each = (97.99 - 80.18)/5 = £3.57 + postage
(Refund after eBay sale of £16.03 each)
Would you ever consider an XTC Clip rental service? Say £7.50 + £80 collateral (to be refunded after the clip is received back)? PayPal reduces its fees proportionally after partial refunds and I think it would sell quite well...
Hi,
I am in Licolnshire in the UK and would be willing to sign up for this too, provided that it is cheap enough of course!

Brilliant, added you to the list.
One more person and it would be an initial cost of about £20, then a refund of about £15 after resale on eBay.
Is everyone happy with this?

Has the cost come down to an acceptable level for everyone yet? We're looking at an initial cost of £19.60 each (less than £5 after refund though).

My ebay name is PM (I think) hate ebay and not used it in a while, lol.
And how is this going to work? Send it from addy to addy and then back to you, or send the phones to you? The second is a much more efficient way of dealing with it, but now sure if I can live without my phone either, lol!

Yep my intention was that it was to be sent from address to address. If people wanted to send phones to me to be unlocked, I would insist on sending the phones back via an insured courier so it would work out more expensive.
If you trust me enough and don't mind spending a bit more to cover the postage, I'm happy to do this as well.

I can't be without my phone tbh... Use it for my internet n stuff, it's just it "could" take a long time. I have waited a couple months now and a couple more won't hurt. As for cost... people are going to have to post the xtc clip anyway, and if I was posting it I would do insured post as it covers me too.

Far from it. How's your Super CID, SimUnlock status and ability to flash ANY RUU you want? Or say customize your partition sizes and get a 275 MB data partition? I could go on...
Please don't talk about things you clearly don't know about just to depreciate the value of what this gentleman is selling.
$50 is a fair price indeed. I got mine on sale at $60.00 and had to drive an hour and a half to get it.
FYI it isnt.........you can get it in $30 on Ebay
at 30 bucks you probably get a fake/non working one buy go ahead and buy it...
I paid 46€ for mine on ebay ( the Raskal original one ), resold it a week later for 39€...
I have now 76 user apps( still 40 Mo free on my internal memory ) and i'm a happy user of the cyanogenmod 7.2 ROM !
So no, it's definitely not obsolete...

Direction to unlock "Bootloader on Booloader unlock allowed: No"

After shooting some searches on Q&A about unlocking bootloader on xperia play with "Rooting Status: No", I've learned that unlocking can still be achieved (Take note that I didn't find any steps, only references). So I went searching for guides to do so, but without success. If anyone got a direct link to such a guide, I would really appreciate it!
Please note that there is a 0,01% chance of retardation and missing the guides, when they were in front of my eyes.
Thank you in advance!
You must pay 24$ to get it done from Alejandrissimo. That's the only way.

Well, I just went to Western Union with one of my parents and sent some money to him and then he did it I suggest you do the same if you can.
You can go down to your local store, buy a $25 prepaid card, give him the stuff, and done! He'll unlock it!
Well the thing I want to know still is how he does it. Do I send him the money and the phone? Or just the money and he gives me a code? Or what is actually happening.

I <3 all of you guys. Thanks much!
It's been a busy day at work today, and the power went out at my house, so I wasn't able to finish my IDA disassembly work remotely on my home PC's VM...
All of my servers are linux based, and my copy of IDA is for windows, so...
I threw together a box at work and put windows server on it. I've forgotten how much of a windows server noob I am haha.
Anyway, that said, I now have an IDA box that me and Shelnutt2 can share. I'm going to try damn hard to get you guys a 'victory-in-progress' screenshot here soon... I'm 100% confident that I can make Loki work, the real issue here is kernel.
An idea that I've been toying with is a neat way to actually root/install all of this at once.
I've created a python replacement for LGNPST, which we can bundle with the root/unlocker-- put the phone in LGNPST mode and you'll end up with a rooted and CWM/TWRP'd phone.
This would be to solve the issue of a lack of fastboot under normal circumstances, since there's no way to enter fastboot without nuking boot or recovery.
Another option is to compile my own version of Moboot (LK) and put it in place of the boot partition. On boot, the phone would boot another bootloader, and we could store our boot.img files in /cache, since that's rarely used.
All of that would be an interim solution until I can get SBL3 unlocked so we can just replace LG's weird-ass bootloader altogether.
Anyway, lemme know what you guys think is the best option. I'm going to try to get a screenshot up for y'all tonight.

If you store the imags in cache, what happens if we run one of the commonly available "housecleaning" programs like Clean Master that clears the cache? Would we lose the images we need?

Indeed you would. However, in my experience, cache isn't used for much and doesn't need to be cleaned anyway (for most problems, that is).
Doesn't look like I'm going to have a screenshot up tonight. I'm heading to bed now.
Finally got my IDA box working, but the IDA db wouldn't load, so I'll have to figure that out tomorrow.
Thanks for sticking with me, guys!

To be fair, he hasn't completed the work, so there's a reason people are pledging and not sending.
Not to mention that it is a bounty. Someone could post on here in 5 minutes a complete method before thecubed does, and they would deserve the money.
Yo cube im with you something is broke inside the kernel. After decompressing it and tring to recompile the kernel is flawed.Even do it with the opensource..IDK what to think I will keep plugging away.

[Q]Having trouble getting identifier token

I have an HTC one with software number: 1.10.605.8 and I have been trying to unlock the bootloader for 4 hours with no luck. I have tried using multiple different tutorials but none have worked so I have been trying to achieve an unlocked bootloader by using hansoon 2000's toolkit. Everything looks like it will work in the command prompt when I am searching for the identifier token but when I post it into the htcdev website I get
"Error Code: 160.
Error Reason: MID Not Allowed."
If there is anyone that could please help me I would really appreciate it.

there are several threads stating the Verizon HTC One CAN NOT be unlocked using HTC DEV or really any way at this point.

I did search the forums. go ahead and look at my search results (http://forum.xda-developers.com/sitesearch.php?q=error 160 MID htc one), you'll see all the posts on the One X forums. I have an HTC one(m7) so I wasn't sure if it was the same which is why I went to the help/troubleshooting forums. Don't get all butthurt because I am asking for help.
THank you Kraizk for actually answering my question.

And search does not always mean "search", more like scour or seek. If you read the general forums for this device for 5 minutes you would see that its not unlockable. Even searching google would show you this. Its not a big deal, just look around next time
Depending on how much getting an unlocked bootloader is worth to you, you might want to read this thread - Verizon HTC One General - Purchased a JavaCard for S-OFF.
Among the many things you can do with S-Off you can use the Super CID tool, which allows you to enter working information into the htcdev site, you will not get the error code when trying to your identifier token.
What is being offered is for Sonic2756 to use a HTC developer tool called a javacard to get S-Off for the Verizon HTC One and a number of other HTC devices.
I personally think this is a great deal, less then $50 after all the shipping/insurance expenses get added in, for someone to use an official htc method to get s-off. Even though the chances are good that someone will find an exploit to achieve s-off, the chances are also good that an exploit like that will take a while to develop and those exploits could run the risk of breaking your phone and giving you a fancy paper weight. I believe using a HTC developer method of achieving S-Off to be the safest way to go, provided you dont cut corners with packaging your phone and ship with insurance for it.
Chill out on the guy, he probably just got into Android and wanted to mod his phone. We don't want people thinking we're jerks and have them go back to the iPhone do we?
In his defense, there are like 8 different HTC One variants, it's horrendous. This is just the HTC One, without any letters after it. It's the M7 model from HTC. HTC6500LVW is the official model/SKU number from Verizon.
@armpit101 - Like everyone else already said, it's currently not unlockable unless you purchase an S-Off procedure from a member called Sonic on here. It's $30 but you also have to pay for shipping both ways. So likely around $60 total if you tack on insurance, which is highly recommended for a $650 phone.
The link for that is in the above post courtesy of Wozzie.

I just thought I would update this thread with current prices, Sonic has been reduced his price from $30 to $20, this does not include the addition charge of return shipping, which gets included in the transaction, the only thing that does not get charged in what you buy from his website is the cost of getting the phone to him.

So we pay to send the phone out to him, but the $20 covers S-Off and return shipping?

Ok so we are still paying the same way as before, except now it's about ~$50 total.

Is $50 too much to pay for S-OFF? I don't think so. You can always go cheap and not pay for insurance. Cost $5.80 to ship with no insurance. He has a ship back option with no insurance.

The cost is this
it was $30 for the S-OFF
Sonic kindly lowered it $10 because he is a great guy.
so,
for $20 + $15 = $35
you Get
you phone S-OFF and sent back to you with $600 of insurance.
the other fee comes from how you decide to ship, I suggest the same way Sonic is sending it
it costs about $8.55 for $600 worth of insurance with USPS you'll end up most likely paying around $14-$16.
IMO for insurance shipped both way for $50 it's 100% worth it, I just need to find the time to send it out, keep saying I am but something keeps coming up.
work, life. bahh, but
from my estimations he should still have about 100 credits left at least (I hope)
and I am already htc dev unlocked so I don't feel the need to get S-OFF before those without root, also.
