WARNING: I take no responsibility if you screw anything up and neither does Cyanogen or anyone besides yourself.
This is the Crackflashers CM7 nightly builds. It includes CyanogenMod settings and gingerbread in the install. So here we go.
STEP 1: Getting Clock Work Recovery mod 3.0
This is probably the hardest part of it all. Even though it's super easy.
There are many ways to do this part but after trying them all I believe this is the easiest way;
Thanks a ton to dustrho

This just worked fine for me...
1. copy the file to the root of your sd card and rename it recovery.img (renaming not necessary, just makes life easier)
2. open terminal and type 'su' then hit enter
3. type 'flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img' then hit enter
4. type 'reboot recovery' then hit enter and you should go to CWM recovery
Click to collapse
Note: you do not need to fast boot for this method
CWR MOD NEEDS TO BE ORANGE
STEP 2: Downloading the needed files
The CM7 Nightly builds can be found here: clicky
Download the latest build and google-apps and place them in the Root of your phone.
STEP 3: Backup and wipe and install
1.) Reboot into recovery
2.) Do a backup
3.) Wipe your data and cache
4.) Install your CM7 rom zip file
5.) Install your google apps zip file
NOTE: you must install both in the same recovery!
6.) reboot
CONGRATULATIONS!!! You should now be guided through a gingerbread set-up
Thanks to really everyone at XDA! Especially Cyanogen himself though
KNOWN BUGS:
(please help me out and add to the list)
Wifi Doesn't work! FIX: reboot

Nice guide but there aren't any nightly builds available. The ones from crackflashers are built by gridlock, not by the cm team. Nightlies should begin to show up soon; proof here

sexxy guide i mean i already flashed cwm 3.0 via fastboot but this a great guide for newbies and what not

I keep getting the flash image: not found error and i know i have it there..

You likely don't have the flash_image executable in /system/bin, hence the flash_image not found error. There's a guide in this very subforum, located here, on how to add it to your rooted Vision.

What's the difference between these and the "actual" nightlies?

Recovery flash worked like a charm until reboot. Currently I have a white screen with HTC logo and nothing happens... :-(

ClockworkMod Recovery:

1.6.0
Bug fixes.
File list now scrolls in recovery.
Added hooks for ROM Manager.
1.4.2
Initial public release.
For a manual installation of the recovery, you can download it from my website:
http://www.koushikdutta.com/2010/02/clockwork-recovery-image.html
it shall be noted that you need to press menu in order to see the menu (on my hero at least). looking into it now... thanks for the hint, just what i needed!
Nicely done, this is gonna make my dev work so much easier.
what kernel does it use?
and i have a feature request: wipe dalvik-cache
edit: and poweroff
wats the difference between
recovery-RA-hero-v1.5.3.1.img
and clockwork?
this is wonderful!
yayy!

what is dalvik-cache
What is a rom ?
what is android?
couple of sugestions, when theres alot of files in the root of the SD card, you cant scroll, so anything that doesnt fit is cut off, might be good if you could add a next page option, or make it only list folders that contain zip files

haha, cracking me up
seriously, google didnt return an answer
just did a google search for "what is dalvik-cache" and got loads of good answers.
http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=what+is+dalvik-cache&meta=
The best being this one http://dbhcreative.com/blog/?tag=dalvik-cache about half way down the search
"Dalvik-cache is like a storage bin for application data in the AndroidOS"
are you sure you searched
Edit: and just for fun

this is why i need another phone. i ask some serious questions, then a newbie comes around the corner bullshitting the thread with questions that are answered on the first page. can't be too long until we have a flamewar here, and with any luck the thread is going to be closed. why would we want to have a great open recovery image without being dependant on a guy like amon_ra, who has moved on ages ago, let's spam this thread with moronic questions. thanks everyone.
I think the guy who asked the cache question really didn't know the answer so your comment is a bit harsh on him. As for the others... they were just having a laugh I guess.
yes maybe it was a bit harsh, but not untrue. if everybody was going around asking stuff he doesn't know in the thread it was mentioned we wouldn't need threads here. just make a big shoutbox where everybody can start crying... you see where it leads the discussion.
yeah maybe harsh, bot not untrue. and i meant those morons "having a laugh" aswell. this thread is a great example where this leads to. and what do we have the subforums for if nobody cares?

hello
how to install this recovery
if i have the ra recovery installed

I think you can just install it the same as you did RA and it will overwrite the RA one.
Someone will have to confirm this though.

[Q] How do you center the status bar clock?

Hi All,
Please forgive me if this has been answered somewhere before but... I have seen some pics in the Themes area of people with their small "status bar clock" centered on the screen as opposed to it being beside the battery (much like Ive seen on MIUI) and Im wondering how you do this?
Do you need a specific ROM/ is it ROM dependent? Can it be done on the stock ROM?
Please advise and thanks in advance...
it's in AOKP.
Cannot be done on stock ROM.

It's a custom ROM, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1402341
Refer to stickied posts to get started.
1. Download ROM, Gapps, Kernel (if desired) and put it on your phone.
2. Unlock Bootloader
3. Flash Clockwork Recovery
4. Flash ROM, Gapps, Kernel
5. reboot.
And yes various ROMs will include that toggle.

Cool. Im gonna do the unlock and root and CWM recovery tomorrow using one of the "one click tools" I have found here for this by wugfresh... Will I be able to use this ROM if I do things that way as opposed to the list that you provided?

yes you just need to unlock bootloader and flash clockwork recovery after doing those 2 you'll need to flash the ROMs
make sure to wipe factory settings, cache, dalvik before flashing ROM, gapps, kernel (optional but highly recommended)

What is optional but recommended? Wiping or installing gapps and kernel? Also... I just took a peek at the download page for the AOKP ROM and it says something about matching the MD5SUM of the ROM and the GAPPS but I dont see any matching numbers... How does that work exactly?

Optional but recommended: Kernel.
Download links w/ MD5: https://sites.google.com/site/androidopenkangproject/downloads-1/downloads
Verify MD5: google hashtab (after installing, right click the file you wish to verify -> properties -> hashes -> select md5 -> verify it with the one on the site).
if you have a file you dl'd and it doesn't match the md5 hash, redownload it (select a different mirror)
press the thanks button if this has helped you, thanks
Thanks and yes... It has helped me. I have now rooted and flashed CWM onto my device using the wugfresh method (many thanks to wugfresh for his program) and I have thanked you here for your help.
You are a scholar and a gentleman... Lol...

I am using AOSB rom, link in my signature, which works great. I dont think it works with Cyanogen 7.2 for some reason. You could try flashing a different kernel.

Yeah I tried this too and it didn't work. The Desire Z is compatible though so all you need to do is follow the guide further on down: just open up the zip, locate the script you want (e.g for 100MB in cache, open zip and go to swap/cache/100/etc/init.d/ and copy the 98swap_cache_v300 file out). Then copy it to system/etc/init.d and make sure the permissions are 755 and root.root.

Use philZ recovery to install with the GAPPS as well. Also, you' ll need to skip through setup and enable hardware keyboard toggle in language and input to get software keyboard to work. Also you'll need to set mobile network to global and wait a bit for signal to be set up. I recommend the cm spen app from the play store to recognise spen input and it will switch keyboards as well. I used stylus keyboard to write this and it is miles better than Samsung's
Goodluck!

Hi,
Have flashed the n8020 version and I must say it looks and feels fantastic.
Only issue is netflix and afl (sport streaming app) are not working. YouTube, Hulu and others seem fine.
I understand this is embryonic, but just wondering if others are experiencing similar and have any solutions?
Thanks for any help
Cheers,
crikey! no footy! I'll look into it (if you're not a pies fan..) ?
Not all apps are 5.1.1 ready though...
Ha, indeed no footy would be sad. No, not a pies supporter but have to live with 2 of them.
Using a bit of Google fu I've found a couple of possible fixes
edit 1: I should add the error for Netflix is - sorry we could not reach the netflix service. please try again later. (-9)
Will let you know if I have any success
edit 2:AFL app sorted - uninstall and reinstall did the trick
Cheers
I have the same netflix error... doh!
@smegg, any common bugs that you noticed so far that can impact normal everyday use? Does it feel better than 4.4?
I love it, nice and stable, very snappy, main bug so far is broken video streaming
Respect for your work, developers!
I tested briefly this rom. It looks great and work very good! Thank you, both!
I saw a bug when i did a phone call: couldn't end the call.
Thank you for this rom!

Failed to flash

Hey there,
I want to switch to these htt ps://download .lineageos. org/oneplus2 LOS 14.1 builds as I'm currently using LOS 14.1 by daktak. (Sorry, not allowed to post links right now..)
There haven't been any updates for almost 3 weeks now and I don't think that this will be updated any further.
Well, simply booting into recovery mode and flashing the newest LOS zip doesn't work for me. I guess it's because I'm not wiping my system partition, just data + dalvik cache... I thought I can simply switch/update from an older version of LOS? Do I really need to wipe everything again so I can install the LOS builds I've mentioned above?
Also I don't really understand the difference between signed and unsigned zips. The zip I want to flash is signed. Is this why I get "Failed to flash" as an error message in recovery? Does "signed" mean, I need to root my OP2 again and my current root will be removed?
Current LOS version 14.1-20170213-UNOFFICIAL-oneplus2 by daktak

I am not an expert on adb/fastboot, but is the fastboot binary in the directory? It is also a little difficult to interpret the language in your sceenshot.

Right, sorry. It's German and it says that the command "fastboot" either has been written wrong or hasn't been found.
And also: Yes, it is:
I think you need to check your drivers
The device should be connected via adb interface driver or android driver
After that you should be able to see ur device
