[Q] Installing apps problem on acer liquid. - Liquid S100 Themes and Apps

The phone memory is very small so i need to install my apps on the sd card. How can i do that?

You need Android 2.2 Froyo on your Acer Liquid in order to move apps to SD Card.

or a way to remove the stock apps that take huge amount of space for nothing because they are demo's

- Root it (Z4 Root)
- Install Root explorer or Astro File Manager or SuperManager
- Remove stock apps: /system/app/ (make sure you make a backup of the APK's you remove on your SD card!) see also: here
- Remove the stock apps data store: /data/data/<appname>
- Clear dalvik cache: /data/dalvik-cache (remove ALL files in this directory and reboot you phone, first boot will take longer than usual because its rebuilds the dalvic cache)
Should clean up nicely.

create a ext partition on your sd card and install a rom who allows apps2sd (old method) is the best way. Or you can have a look at A2sd on the market

App2sd not working properly?

Ok, here's my situation:
Wildfire s A510e
S-ON
Android 2.3.3
This thing enabled
According to app2sd, i've got no more moveable apps, on my internal memory there are just 7 apps installed (Google Maps, Facebook, Vocal Search, Youtube, Gmail, Clock Widget, 3g Watchdog), but i've got just 6mb free (out of 150mb).
The thing is, browsing my internal memory (using for example Disk Usage, which i think is very user friendly), i found out that all the apps i've installed on the sd have a lot of data on the internal storage anyway.
For example, i've got Barcode Scanner installed on my SD, But it uses 545kb on my internal memory 600kb on the SD.
And another thing: when i browse to settings- applications - manage apps, i can see Barcode Scanner installed on the SD, but it says it uses 545kb (which is the amount of data in the internal memory).
So, is all this normal? 'cause otherwise i don't see the point in installing apps on the sd if they fill up the internal memory anyways.
Any idea? Any suggestion?
Thanks in advance!
I have soff, a rooted rom. Many apps installed ans 120mb or so free memory. I think ans soff device is more flexible to tweak.

Ok, found out that the data not bein moved is mainly davlik cache and .apk files.
Now, although I already know the answer... Is it impossible to move those files, without root privileges, right?
Damn, I want S-OFF.
That's right, you need root access in order to move any system file on the device to another location, such as a different partition or external card.

Update:
I've unlocked and rooted my phone.
I've created a 1024mb ext4 partition and installed Link2SD.
Moving all the apps to the partition.
Still, i found .apk files and davlik cache in the primary partition.
Any help? I though with root all my space problems would be over easyly :S
I did a 1024mb partition and used data2sd, I don't have to move app myself, the internal memory show my 1,150 GB...
Maybe you should use data2sd :/

update to rom 2.3.5 will actually free up more memory even you don't have the unlock your phone. For stock app e.g. facebook, gmail; if you happened to update it, they are unable to be moved to the SD card and occupy much of the internal memory. You can always use app2sd to move the other application to the SD card to free your internal memory once you've updated from 2.3.3 to 2.3.5, I think the HTC people have made some improvement in their latest update with regards to the internal memory issue.
After the updating, I haven't yet unlock my phone (as there was no suitable RUU for my carrier), yet I have free memory of 40 Mb on a 2.3.5 rom Vs that of 15Mb on a 2.3.3 rom.

Did you do MOVE to SD or Link?
Move to SD is just using the built in Apps2SD support which still leaves parts of the APK, all the Dalvik Cache and Library files still on your internal Data partition.
Link is what you want... There are a few apps like Link2SD that, for obvious reasons, won't link.
You are not looking to use the Apps2SD function. Link.
Also you will see ALL the apps and Dalvik cache files listed on the Data partition still but if you look carefully they are sizeless as they are simply "links" or shortcuts if you like, to the real files on your secondard SD partition.
You will also still see the System APKS Dalvik cache files unless you integrate them into the system partition using something like Titanium Backup Pro. This is as it should be. System Dalvik will not move to an external partition.
If you're rooted and have a recovery, just install DT a2sd. Once your find the file, flash it, go to terminal emulator in the phone and type
Code:
su
A2sd reinstall
your phone will do a hot reboot. Then go back in and type
Code:
su
a2sd cachesd
There will bet another hot reboot and you're done. You'll still lose some internal memory as time goes by, but that's because the phone will store the apps cache on you're internal memory still.

Thanks deepsix! That actually worked. (btw i realized that by myself just 30 secs after i wrote my previous post, i feel so noob for writing that, lol.)

gaining more internal memory?

Hi,
i installed lots of stuff on my play. and now im on 30mb wich is about the lowes state before the phone gets UGLY slow...
So how to gain more memory?
Methods i know are:
1. install apps to sd card - done ofc
2. gaining root -> uninstall stock apps wiht titanium backup - also did this already
3. using Darktremor App2SD scripts for completely moving apps to SD
4. reformat at least I think it'S what they do... needs unlocked BL - don't want to do this.
Did anyone of u test the Darktremor? And can it be applied without data loss somehow? Does it work with the Clockworkmod wich is installed in /system?
Are there any other solutions?
regards
FrEcP
I'd suggest using the setInstallLocation 2 ADB trick, this will let you move any app to your SD card.
thanks - but doesn't it just the the default location to sdcard? So some content will still remain on internal?
just found another nice solution - link2sd (its like the darktremor but since GUI much more user friendly) - just what i searched for
Offtopic:
is there a list of tweaks we can apply without unlocked BL?
The setInstallLocation 2 ADB will allow you to move apps to SD that you couldn't before. Yes, some data will remain in the internal memory, but much less than before.
If you're already using Titanium Backup, use the Integrate updates to system partition (or whatever it's called under Batch) and you'll get a ton of space.
I would recommend using Link2SD. The app is on the market for free, requires root, and moves your apps to another partition on your sd card while leaving a link to it, so the phone still thinks it's in the system memory.
It's very easy to use, though you have to partition the card yourself.

Backing up apps

Hi everyone. I have another (probably) stupid question(s) about backing up apps prior to flashing ROM. I have installed all my apps and backed them up with Titanium. When I flash ROM it is easy to restore. All clear. Now, all my apps are on INTERNAL memory. Now I have decided to install games as well, I keep all my games on SD card.
1) Is it necessary to backup apps on SD card? Aren't they in .androidsecure folder on SD card? If so, will they be automatically visible to the new ROM/System?
2) Another variant of the question - If I use Link2SD, which doesn't move apps 2 SD like app2SD but creates links and uses second hidden EXT4 partition to store apps (apps look to the system as if they're on internal memory), is it necessary to backup these apps? Or will they become available simply by reinstalling Link2SD?
Thanx
D.
Since noone seems to know - I had to try myself. And the answers: Super Wipe script from Revolution wipes .androidsecure folder. The second SD card partition (EXT4) for use with Link2SD is not accessible, I wouldn't say wiped since it displays usage info, but all apps there are not accessible.
What remains to be tried is to make a backup with Titanium and see whether it restores everything Luckily, before trying I did full backup from recovery so I can continue experimenting with all my apps intact

[Q] Clean slate? - SOLVED

Ok, this might sound like a noob question but before deleting any files on the internal storage I want to make sure to not delete the wrong ones
I flash roms almost on a weekly basis, try tons of apps which all leave files on my internal storage so now when I look at it I see lots of garbage that I'm pretty sure I can delete - so here is my question:
When flashing a new rom I wipe data and cache and after that can I safely delete every folder on the internal storage? I guess that the only ones that I should keep are:
- clockworkmod
- data
- DCIM
- android
Or is there a way to wipe the phone without losing root? (I just don't want to go through the hassle of rooting again..)
Thanks
Seek and you shall find. :good:
Simply go into Mounts and Storage in the Recovery menu and select "format /data and /data/media (/sdcard)" - that does the trick. It deletes everything on the internal memory but leaves the external SD card untouched --> success!
Use with caution though: before this always do a nandroid backup to the external SD and above all don't do all of this if you are not sure about what you are doing
i usually
i) wipe data/factory reset
ii) wipe dalvik cache
iii) format /system
And always after this there are so many unused and uneccesary directories & files left in my internal sd card.
So you propose that after also runningformat /data and /data/media (/sdcard) everything in internal sdcard is deleted?
the thing is that most probably i have the ROM file and gapps etc in internal sdcard in order to flash the phone.if i run this and if i understood correctly that it deletes everything, then it will also delete those ROM files right?
so please clarify this if you can or propose the best way i guess other aditional steps (that im missing out) in order to have the cleanest possible phone.

System Storage insufficient

I installed xperia themed rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-1s/development/rom-sony-xperia-z5-lollipop-ui-rom-t3254408. I am facing insufficient storage problem while installing the gapps. I guess the xperia apps utilized all the available system storage. Is there any solution for this apart from partitioning the sd card?
Thanks in advance....
maybe mounts2sd can do it, u have the option which partition to move to external sd 2nd partition, so just use other rom with gapps to download mounts2sd then copy the app to ur sdcard then install the xperia themed rom w/o gapps, install and config the mounts2sd install script inside the app n uncheck all option then reboot, open the app again now check move system partition to sdext then reboot (it may take long time since it move the system partition for the 1st time). if it success u can now install the gapps
