[Q] ROM Manager reinstall - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, I'm kind of at a loss here. I bought ROM Manager Premium on 9/2 and shortly after I bought it I lost my phone and was shipped a new one. The problem is that I can't reinstall ROM Manager Premium even though the purchase is listed in my "Google Checkout" list and the first google account I set up on my phone was the account associated with this purchase. I've sent several messages to Koushik (December 30th, January 7th and January 17th -- I'm not spamming him or anything) but have not heard anything back from him.
Does anyone know of another way to regain the features I've already paid for? It is a great app, and well worth the price, but I can't afford to buy it each time I wipe or replace my phone. Somehow the market is broken.
Thanks in advance!

Have you dowloaded both the premium license and the free application from the market? The premium license is just a key, you still need the application to get the features.

Hey John, I don't have an option to download the license. In the market I only see Rom Manaer and Rom Manager Premium. If I select Premium it tries to bill me $5 again.

Download free version and install from market, download the rom manager file from your gmail and install that, the one in your gmail is the licensing file to upgrade the free version to full version.

If you are certain you used the same google account both times, it is a google issue not a developer issue. I don't know how to contact the people responsible for the market, but google does have an extensive help site. A quick search yeiled this article with a few items to try: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Android+Market/thread?tid=0da4dcf702dbb2d2&hl=en
Are you logged into google talk with the same google account? For some reason there is a link between the Accounts, Market, and Talk...
If that does not work, IDK... I've never had an issue with the purchased apps repopulating...

IMO I think it is appropriate to ask a question about the market which is an app and a purchased app in a forumn titled "Themes and Apps."

Seems to me that Q&A would be more suited to something like "What is rom manager?" than a problem I'm having with the apps market and rom manager but to each their own...
Unfortunately I don't have the email with the file any more and there is no option to resend it.

[INFO] Protected Apps Now in Market!

Well, I've turned on my Desire this morning, and performed the daily search for the Paypal app. There it is.
Tapatalk, and all the rest of the protected apps are now available on the generic ROM it seems!
Great news!
EDIT - All except Google Earth it seems.
I can see those two, but not Google Earth?
T-Mobile here.
I also see the applications you mention, but I still only see free apps?

I did actually, but missed it somehow.
Anyway, it's still news to some, obviously.
No worries, as the OP in the other thread I can understand how excited you were!
Seems to be a lot of demand for Google Earth. I've attached it if you guys want it.
But yes, Its not on the market on Vodafone either. Sounds like it might of been pulled altogether
KYI
Cheers for Google Earth!
Thx for the upload. Needs 23 mb rom lol. Root plz...
Oh come on, no paypal app for me in the market, strange
Argh, I cannot see the Paypal app!
I have an unbranded/unlocked Desire with the latest stock ROM (1.15.405.4) and I've set my locale to "English (United States)" with MoreLocale2. (doesn't work either with the "English (France)" settings)
UK Desire on T-Mobile, branded- have access to protected apps - and can see paypal app on market
I tried the install from #7 but I get 'there is a problem parsing the package'.
I have Google Earth, I always did have Google Earth.
Infact it was one of the first apps I installed on 27/03, I only just got protected apps today (I knew because I downloaded a copy of Abduction World Attack off the internet (it is an app I purchaed) and today I got prompted there was an update (it wasn't in my market before))
Edit: Just to add, I did also once have to do a reset and was able to redownload earth from the market again.
Most apps are showing up now in the market for me. Still can't see Google Earth though.
Here is some interesting news re "Market"

Market paid apps

Hello.
I just got my Desire and been trying to buy some app, but it seems like I have access only to the free apps, I cannot see any paid app.
Even upgrade (free -> paid) doesn't work. For example, I have tapatalk installed, tried to reply to a thread and the app told me that can be done only if the app is paid. So I choosed to pay, but it brought me to a page which namely doesn't exists.
Anyone having this issue?
Download MarketEnabler or MarketAccess and set it to fake your carrier. This requires root though.
Can you please give me a link to a thread where are instructions how to install MarketEnabler or MarketAccess? I searched the forums, but those terms are used in so many of them :/
Link to MarketAccess: http://amip.tools-for.net/wiki/android/marketaccess
I prefer the former over MarketEnabler because of the cleaner interface and because it's ad-free.

New Gmail app on the market?

Whats up with the new gmail app on the market? After checking the version number I have an olderversion. Why isnt my current version asking me to update? I probably wouldnt have even noticed but I went to my downloads and it showed up as a free app as if I didnt have it. So thats when I started investigating.
Anyway its got me all confused lol. Should I just uninstall my current google app and then just go download that app? I cant see how it would hurt, but Ill wait to see what you smart guys say.
I noticed the same thing today, current version of gmail on my phone is 2.2.1, and the one in the market is 2.3(also did not show up in market as an update, just install). I updated just fine and everything works good. I think the market won't show an app as updatable, unless you install it from the market and since gmail came with the phone, and not from the market the market will just show the option to install.
I don't remember seeing gmail being in the market in the past, this must be another step towards googles much talked about push for making core google apps a part of the market instead of being shipped on the phone. Makes more sense that way anyways.
I remember reading something that mobile gmail would be getting the new priority inbox like the regular gmail site has. Maybe this is the reason for the update

the quoted text is handled much better now. I can actually click on a link now that a get from a subscribed thread on xda. I used to have to go back to the first mail in the conversation.
also, i noticed a green bar that drops down after you delete a msg that also lets you undo. it's a pretty sweet update actually.
The gmail update was for some small bug fixes and to add multiple gmail account sync
So do I just installit over the old or uninstall and then install the new one freshly?

Just install the new one over top. Really easy.
The new Gmail app has the buttons at the top scroll down with you, making it easier to star, reply, reply to all, etc. It has some other bug fixes, and there is limited Priority Inbox support, in the form of a new "Important" label, that takes you to your important messages.
Here's a link to the blog post: http://googlemobile.blogspot.com/2010/09/updated-gmail-app-in-android-market.html
This update came out yesterday, and is the first time Gmail has been updated in the market. This will be how updates will work from now on, just like the Maps app before it.

The download was declined because you haven't purchased it

I am trying to update an app that I purchased a few months ago (Where's My Water) on the newest ICS leaked ROM. When I go to the market and try to download it, it says purchased, and when I click download, I get an error message saying "the download of 'Where's my Water' was declined because you haven't purchased it."
I tried uninstalling because I assumed there might have been an issue when i restored the app from Titanium Backup but even after uninstalling I get the same error message.
Any ideas?
I'm guessing you didn't purchase it on Androids Marketplace but perhaps on Amazon? I ran into a similar issue and that;s what it was.
I bought it from the android market

Read somewhere that during he 10cent deals if you did not receive an email concerning the purchase you didn't purchase it. I am in the same boat.

This wasn't a part of the 10c deal. I paid 99 cents for this.

I tried installing it from the web. It says purchased on there, when I sent it to my phone, nothing happens.
I bought one game (the $6.99 N.O.V.A. 2) and it does the same damn thing. I guess its karma for all of the apps I got by other means

i have had this happen to me on several items i purchased, did everything them back, then i finally said screw it and got them "from other means"
If you have multiple Gmail accounts on your device make sure your signed into the one that purchased it from the market.
One thing you can try is to delete the app whether it be through TB or not and then reboot the phone. After startup then try installing. Hope this helps.
Try 4shared or aptoide.. you'll find your app..

I was having this same issue too, got in touch with Google, and after them telling me how to do things I already knew, and explain how if you don't purchase an application you can't download it, I showed them a few pictures and they responded with this:
Thanks for taking the time to contact me today. Have you installed an Android operating system on your device that has not been authorized by your device's manufacturer? I can troubleshoot your issue to the best of my abilities, but please be aware that unauthorized operating systems (custom ROMs) may have limited functionality due to the compatibility of the device. For best results, I recommend using the authorized Android operating system provided by your manufacturer that can be obtained from their website or your carrier.
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/
However, I realize you may have browsed around a bit in our help center and tried a few troubleshooting steps already, but please make sure you've done all of the following to resolve the issue:
- Cancel and restart the download(s)
- Reboot your device
- Sign in and out of Google Talk repeatedly to restore connection to our servers:
1. Go to your device’s app launcher, and press the Talk app
2. If you’re already signed in to Talk, press Menu, and then touch Sign out
3. Launch Talk again to sign in (if you are unable to sign in, please let me know)
- Clear the cache of the Google Play Store app (Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage applications > All > Play Store > Clear cache)
- Clear the Download Manager cache and data (Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage applications > All > Download manager > Clear cache and Clear data)
- Ensure there is at least 20MB of free space on your device
- Try your download(s) using both WiFi and network (3G/4G) connections
- Try to initiate your download from play.google.com instead of the device
- Ensure firewalls are not blocking access to ports required for Google Play (TCP and UDP 5228)
- Confirm that there is strong connectivity on your device, and contact your mobile service provider if you aren't connected
- Uninstall updates to the Google Play Store app by visiting:
Settings > Applications > Manage Applications, selecting "Play Store" under the "All" tab or filter and touching "Uninstall updates"
If you have any further questions or concerns, or if the issue persists after performing all the troubleshooting steps provided, and reverting back to an authorized version of the Android operating system, please feel free to let me know.

Thanks for writing in and for your patience while I've been taking over your case for [omit]. According to our records, you never purchased the app Root Explorer (File Manager) on Google Play using Google Wallet, which is why it won't let you download the app. If you purchased the app using a different app store or directly from the developer, you'll need to re-download it from that store.

2 fast and easy questions

Question 1: if I buy an app, lets say tasker, and then i want to install that app to my girlfriends phone.. Would it be enough to restore the App from my titanium copy? Or will it say her phone does not have the license? Is this possible and legal or i gotta buy another app? Seems unfair if I have to...
Also even if not possible for my gf to get the App will it be possible for me to install it in my tablet?.. Using the same google account or could I use another account? Need to clear out this
Question 2: little tutorial for tasker?, i want to do something, im from south América meaning my phone and keyboard (i use swiftkey x pro) are in spanish, but in xda for example i only write in english.. And its annoying the typo corrector since the keyboard its in spanish and every word i type its redlined.. So i Wonder if with tasker i could do something like change swiftkey lenguage to english when i open xda and when i close it, keyboard goes back to spanish

Definitely not legal to just pull the .apk and move it to another phone that didn't buy it. Obviously there are shades of grey here (it's just your GF's phone) but technically you shouldn't be doing this.
If you use the same GMail account and use that as the "Play Store" account you're signed into on both phones, then you should be able to re-download it on either device once it's purchased. This would work best if you each have your own GMail account for personal use, then a "shared" GMail account for app purchases. Otherwise, you'll each have access to the other's emails, contacts, etc..

In reference to question 1.
I had tried installing bionic bootstrap on my girl's bionic after purchasing it on mine. I added my account to her phone and installed it successfully. Used it once when rooting her phone but once my account was no longer the main one being used it disappeared from her apps. As for using it on another device that is yours, that'll work just fine.

Haven't heard about how to do this...
Your apps are tied to your Gmail account, plain and simple. You can have 5 phones running all with your same Gmail account and have all your apps on each.
But you can't give paid apps to other accounts. And I don't think there is a way to switch accounts that I've ever heard.
Sure you can just pull the apk and give it to someone, hacking, but not officially.
Ok so thats clear now... But no1 is answering my second question about tasker :S
