[APP]homescreen 3D cube(and more)with MultiPicture Live Wallpaper and Launcher Pro - Galaxy S I9000 Themes and Apps

FOR THE USERS WHO JUST WANT TO SEE THE VIDEO DEMO:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZHIH7F0Z4g
Have you had an LG phone like the BL-40 Chocolate or the KP-500 cookie before with that cool 3d cube thingy, and wish you had the same for your android phone? Well, here's something that closely resembles that.
The chocolate had 2 home screens, and the wallpaper can be set differently for the two screens. When i bought the galaxy s, my very first android phone, i hoped that it had a similar thing, only now with 7 home screens to fill widgets with. Sadly, it didn't come with that feature (although the live wallpapers was a cool alternative).
And then i came across MultiPicture Live Wallpaper (free on the market) that let me set a different picture for each homescreen. AND it came with some AWESOME screen transitions. Also, you are not limited to just one picture, you can set a whole album to be shuffled for each homescreen. Cool yeah?
So i was impressed with that. Then I saw that launcher pro was having an update. In the newest version, Fede included some cool transition effects so I immediately updated and tried it out.
I don't know if it was fate or what, but the transition effects of the live wallpaper and launcher pro really work great together. Now my phone looks cooler than before!
IMPORTANT THINGS TO TAKE NOTE BEFORE TRYING THIS OUT:
Scrolling speed is different for the live wallpaper and the launcher, so i recommend playing with the minimum scrolling speed setting of launcher pro (launcher pro settings > advanced settings > minimum scrolling speed). If you find the wallpaper lagging behind your widgets/shortcuts, try setting the scroll speed to faster speed until they are in sync when scrolling.
IF MULTIPICTURE LIVE WALLPAPER FROM THE MARKET DOESN'T WORK AS IT SHOULD, OR IF IT LAGS TRY THIS OLD VERSION THAT I HAVE.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/16398746/Apps Backup/MultiPicture Live Wallpaper.0.4.8.apk
If this solves your problem good for you. If it doesn't, well it sucks to be you. LOL
people are reporting that in Darky's v9 this wallpaper doesn't work properly.. haven't tried it though since im in v8.1.. people on V9, please try the old version and report back if it works.. thanks..

If it's lagging, here are a few tips you could try.
1. Reduce pictures to your screen's size.. My screen is 800x480 so I resized my pictures to that size.. The file size of the picture may have an impact on the performance of the live wallpaper, so keeping it as small as possible may help speed things up..
2. Swipe your finger as slow and as short as possible.. I don't remember if I did this in the video, but whenever I swipe my finger, I do it slowly and my finger touches the screen for about half an inch.. This helps slow things down by registering a slow homescreen swipe..
3. Try less hardware intensive but visually unimpressive transitions.. My personal favorites are wipe, card and swap.. Wipe is the fastest for me..
4. Contact the developer and see if you could help out.. Im not the developer of the live wallpaper so I can't really do anything to improve it from a programmer's point of view..

BE SURE TO UNCHECK THE DISABLE WALLPAPER SCROLLING OPTION IN LAUNCHER PRO. go to launcher pro settings > appearance settings > disable wallpaper scrolling. Naturally if you leave that setting on, your wallpaper won't scroll.
YOU DON'T NEED TO USE BOTH THE LAUNCHER AND THE LIVE WALLPAPER. You can use a different Launcher on MPLW, and a different Wallpaper on Launcher Pro. But do take note that you can't have the launcher transition effects in a different launcher, and the Live Wallpaper transition effects in the live wallpaper..

Here's how to create the same setup
1. Download launcher pro. It's free and i believe the transition effects come with the free version.
2. Customize to your hearts content. Place widgets, shortcuts, etc just fill the homescreen with content so that you can see the effect.
3. Select transition effect. Press the context menu button while on your homescreen > preferences > homescreen settings > transition effect.
4. Download Multipicture Live Wallpaper and set it as your wallpaper
5. Set a picture for each homescreen. You can even set a whole folder to shuffle pictures from.
6. Set the transition effect that you want to go with your launcher pro transition effect. Press the context menu while on your homescreen>wallpaper>configure.
7. Enjoy!
Tip - go to launcher pro settings > advanced settings > minimum scrolling speed, then set it to 0.. it will slower the swipe speed (provided that you swiped your finger slowly as well)
Transition effects that go nicely with each other as shown in the video:
LP - Cube
MPLW - Cube
LP - Scale
MPLW - Swap
LP - Flip
MPLW - Swing
Not shown in video:
LP - Cube
MPLW - Wipe
LP - Rotation
MPLW - Card

Very nice effects. Thanks!!!

Ok im using a galaxy S with darkyys rom 9.0 and Voodoo 5.2 kernel.
Im using the latest launcher pro plus 0.8.3.
I download the app and go into setings and set individual settings for each screen, but when i go back to the homescreen it says no picture available please set picture on a black screen.
I cant double tap any of the homescreens to set a picture either.
I have noticed from some looking around that you have to go into default settings and pick screen type... but i have no default settings on my app or i cant figure out how to get into it.
Please help me set this up properly!!!

I heard darky v9 was buggy, that's why I settled for v8.1 ay the moment.. Anyway, I'm just your average android user, not a dev or anything but I'll try to help you out as much as I can..
First, can you post screen shots of your multi picture live wallpaper settings screen? I'll try to find a back up of my old version of that wallpaper for you to try.. I think the transition effects were included in the old versions..
EDIT: The link to the old MPLW is in the first post.. try it!

I'm on darky 9,0 Voodoo same as you and all works perfect. Maybe You have some options on check LP>Appearance Settings> disable wallpaper scrolling I think that option must be unchecked
I have this on and MPLW dasn't work

*FYI* You can use this with other launchers or if you can't find the setting inside Launcher Pro to set the transition (I HAD THIS PROBLEM THE SECOND TIME AROUND) This guide will help you. If anybody is using a different launcher like me I use ADW EX you might not be able to see the transition setting inside the launcher settings. You can still set this transition. While setting multipicture live wallpaper you can go into the settings before you actually save the wallpaper, scroll down to Drawing Settings and select your desired transition under Transition Type.
Before exiting I go into each individual screen setting for example Screen 1 Settings and click on Type of Screen then select Single Picture, Select desired image from gallery and then continue to do the same for Screen 2 Settings untill I have done all of my home screen wallpapers *BE SURE TO HAVE SCROLLABLE WALLPAPER ACTIVE IN YOUR SETTINGS ELSE YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO USE MULTIPICTURE WALLPAPER ****OP you might want to place all of this information in your 1st post***

Amazing! wow, thank you for sharing.. love it.. Thank you!

Well technically it is a live wallpaper, and live wallpapers are not tied to a launcher (at lest MPLW isn't) so yeah, you can use it with other launchers. But the point of this post was to show that the new Launcher Pro version's new feature are these transition effects, and those new effects go pretty well with the transition effects in MPLW..

It makes it seem like you need to use LP due to the nature of your original post. I was just clarifying it for the interested parties.

I have Darky`s v9.0 and it works great. Thanks

I installed the older version and it works fine now.
It loses the settings though if the phone is switched off and back on.

Ive set 5 different wallpapers to 5 different homescreens, disabled scrolling, but my wall paper isnt switching when i cange home screens, with or with out transition effect aplied in either mplw, or launcher pro plus . any ideas???

nvm .......

Any way to make ADW.Launcher not perform like ass on CM6?

Went back to CM6 today after a week of Fresh, and I am shocked at how laggy ADW is with the exact same settings! The only difference I can think of is that I'm using the included ADW and not the Market version. Are they different? Any tweaks I can make?
With CM6 final, ADW Launcher runs very well. Out of the box, and with the settings I've used for myself.

Compliments of midri
Those of you getting slugish results need to update their ADW settings (the defaults suck)
1) Screen Preferences - Desktop scrolling speed - set to something low-ish like 150-200, default settings are just plain moronic here. Desktop overshoot should be fine at 30 or 40.
2) Drawer Settings - Horizontal Drawer definite on (this is far superior to the scrolling drawer if you have more than a few apps, and feels much smoother).
3) Drawer Settings - Zoom effect speed - 400 is a decent setting, default was way too high.
4) Drawer Settings - Columns/Rows - 4x4 is a nice setting for portrait, if you don't like a crammed screen.
5) System Preferences - Wallpaper Hack - check this. If you have issues, change wallpapers to something of a sane size.
6) System Preferences - Use Screen Cache - check this.
7) System Preferences - Scrollable Widget support - you should start with this unchecked. Only check it if you have issues with some widgets. In my experience it didn't make a huge difference in performance or smoothness.
I run my speed at 50, it snaps back and forth very fast.

I'm also using LCD Density Changer, but that made no difference on Fresh.
different apps/ROM's respond differently in combination with each other. if things performed better in Fresh and nothing seems to address your issues, you may have to go back to Fresh or give up ADW.
I installed the Market version, and it is back to butter. I don't know what is up with the included one.

I wish i could tell you why yours isnt performing, or maybe your expectations are too high. but adw launcher is good enough to be included in CM 6 as the stock and ONLY launcher. Anyway, I beleive you are in the minority. Watching since adw was released, the advandces and features that have been added make it in a league of its own. imo
ahhhhhhhhhh! so it doesnt perform like ass!!!!!!! lol
come on man
No, the included one still fails massively with the exact same settings as the Market version. The Market version is super zippy.

AWD EX home launcher!

New home launcher ADW EX. Its just adw with a few more customizations. It's on the market.
Anyone using it yet? I just bought it and its amazing! Everybody post pics of your launcher and show off your personal taste!
If you experience any stutter or freeze issue its probably a memory leak caused by one of your widgets, a quick adw reset will fix it. Just go to the menu scroll down and adw reset.
Anybody with suggestions should email the dev from the market place. He replies quite quick and is open to suggestions.

just finished playing around with it for a bit and all i gotta say is...wow. animations switching screens are so sleek and dont lag at all on my CM6.1.1. no FC's or anything. loving it so far. havent defaulted it yet, still trying to see if i truly want it as my default. only thing i wish it had right now is swipe gestures for each dockbar icon (not just the main swipe up/swipe down gestures) because on launcher pro i have 5 different gestures, particularly: quick compose for chomp and screen off and lock because i'd rather quickly swipe up than long press the search button. unfortunately i can't do that to the dockbar in ADW but instead i've made the single swipe up gesture for screen off and lock, and long press search as quick compose. also in launcherpro i had a swipe gesture for battery use shortcut in settings and in ADW i just decided to make a shortcut for it on the desktop. also miss the launcherpro facebook widget but i can live without it.
in conclusion, this launcher is absolutely amazing so far, battery drained pretty quickly but i can't tell if thats just cuz i was literally messing around with it constantly, even to the point where i would just play around with the screen transition animation for days haha or if its actually a battery drainer. i guess we'll see if it really drains a lot of battery tomorrow, assuming i can show some self control with playing with the screen animations

For those of you interested, if you are upgrading from the "old" ADW, you can restore your old settings by backing up the current launcher and settings config, an use Astro or any explorer to rename adw_settings.xml and adw_launcher.db to adw_EX_settings.xml and adw_EX_launcher.db. Next you can import them in ADW Ex. Both files are in the root of the SD card. At least saves the trouble to figure out again what your original settings were and background etc...
I am a bit dissapointed that such a popular launcher doesn't recognise you were running a previous version and offers the option to import old settings on first startup. Still it is the best launcher IMHO. The new transition effects are cool!

ADW ex is very nice but settings are not very intuitive and are not very user friendly. Now, of course, this a first release and I'm sure things will be cleaned up in updates. Launcher should not hijack "Settings" shortcutin the menu neither.

Yea I really like the new adw but my only complaint would be that I used to be able to have a transparent appdrawr background since I use the faded theme with black backgrounds which always looks good to me... I hate I can't find how to get it back like that and have to have a colored background

You can still set the app drawer background to transparent, it just won't work with Vertical 4D app drawer style.
Just set the background color bar all the way to the left.

I don't use themes so I'm not sure if or how they affect settings. Did you try ADW Settings > UI Settings > Drawer Settings > Background color - slide the slider all the way to the left. (a bit late as EuroSpeed beat me to it. This is what happens when I answer a phone call in the middle of replying and get distracted)
My First impression
I got this last night and so far I like it very much. The "vertical old" App drawer style is much snappier. It doesn't lag like the ADW built in to CM 6.1.1 even though I have the background transparent and my live wallpaper running just as I did on the built in version. There are some things that I don't like such as the fact that it has removed the phone settings from the menu button and placed them under the ADW settings. Also, I have the Home button binding set to: Move to default desktop/show previews. If you start at the default desktop, go to settings and press the home button to return home it automatically goes to the previews instead of the default desktop and then the previews. Not a big deal but slightly annoying- I'm sure it will be addressed in an update. Overall, I really like this.

[Q] Separate Live Wallpaper enabler?

Hey All,
Due to some oddities, I've discovered that using any other launcher with the Adam will make it force static wallpapers to be 800x600, even when using Wallpaper Set and Save. This change seems to be permanent, as even after uninstalling launcher pro/zeam/etc, the only way to get it to properly display 1024x600 wallpapers again is to factory reset. (This doesn't appear to be exclusive to the Adam, as I've found threads about it on the Gtab and Galaxy Tab sections)
With this in mind, it appears that live wallpapers aren't affected by this, based off what I've read in these other threads.
However, I can't seem to figure out how to allow Live wallpaper on the Adam without using a highly modified rom. I'm using the basic Notion Ink Hacks x3 (Market/Root/Adhoc) modification for the adam, and really don't want to use Beast or EdenX as that'd require another wipe, and may break further updates from Notion Ink.
Is there anyway to install Live Wallpapers through adding the APK through root explorer, or any other method without changing the rom? Is anyone able to create an enabler/installer for this for us Market/Root/Adhoc folks?
Any/all info is appreciated.
I personlly use Beast rom in its last version + Launcher Pro.
Though I don't remember if it gave me access to the Live wallpaper function or not, I spent time looking around in Notion Addicts & Notion ink Hacks forums on how to fix that "ulgy wallpaper bug"
After installing "Flick ur Pics" app in the market, If you long touch the screen then go to Live wallpaper -> Flick ur Pics -> "Manage favorites", then you should be able to choose one or several picts and set them as wallpapers.
That's the only way I found to center the wallpaper and diplay it correclty in the right resolution (1024x600). This market app has some nice functions anyway

As much as I wish I could do this, this is a Live Wallpaper, which I sadly cannot use at this point, until I can get info on how to sideload the required live wallpaper APKs, or someone is awesome enough to create a file for it.

No more forced cropping on wallpapers

The application I want to talk about is PicSpeed Wallpapers.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...1bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5zcnNkZXYud2FsbHBhcGVycyJd
A promising application which offers pretty good wallpapers, in my opinion. However it is more than a simple wallpaper application... Not special in a sense where it gives you super exam cheating skills (which I so desperately need right now)... but it gives you MUCH better cropping for your wallpapers in the Gallery app .
So how do you use it and how much better is it? Well to use it start by getting a Wallpaper. So once you got that on your phone go ahead and open up the Gallery. Find and tap on the image. Now hit the menu button and select "Set picture as" (on ICS) or whatever you need to click to set a wallpaper. You will notice a pop-up comes up. The normal options would be contact photo and wallpaper (and maybe whatever else you have), but now we are introduced with the option of "Set as Wallpaper" - with the PicSpeed icon beside it. So tap it (of coarse). Underneath the image will be three images. The first (left) crops the image to use just the middle (based on dimensions) and is not a scrollable Wallpaper. The second (middle) gives you the traditional full-use of the wallpaper in a scrollable state. The one that is most interesting is the last (right) option. This one offers a custom crop. Which means you can make the wallpaper scrollable or not and perfectly set the crop to whatever you want. So once you use the right custom option go ahead and hit the set option underneath it to the far right.
I think that is amazing finally a way to break the terrible cropping options the Gallery gave us. At first when PicSpeed released an earlier version the wallpaper would auto resize and mess up the image. They have updated the app since then and I no longer have to re-set the wallpaper on boot. Another bug I noticed is I cannot set a Wallpaper 'properly' with the traditional set wallpaper function my phone offers me, after I use PicSpeed to set a "custom" crop. This is easily fixable. Go into Gallery and the set the wallpaper with PicSpeed (again) with the Wallpaper with the traditional (middle) option. Or you can just reboot your phone, either way works.
Well yeah I just wanted to share this new amazing application with you all . You're welcome all! No more terrible cropping options YAAAAY!

I found that the Galaxy app in the S3 only crops to portrait too. Simplest way I found was to extract the Galaxy2.apk from a Nexus and install it on the S3 (or replace it entirely) and us it to set the background. You then get the portrait and landscape cropping so you can then have a decent scrollable home screen wallpaper.

You have to install a different launcher to make the scrollable background work.
May you share that galaxy2.apk please?
Thanks !

I use wallpaper changer to change my wallpaper, doesn't crop and allows for scrollable wallpapers without needing to change anything.
Set wallpaper with Zedge app works great No cropping.

I dont know if this thread is still active, but I have been running into issues lately with pic speed. I have used it for a while (on my original vibrant) but now im getting issues. Im trying set an image as my background and crop it. Works fine. Crops for me I get it smack dab center and everything is nice. I turn on the scroll function because I just want the static image. Spits out the image and my wallpaper is great, but as soon as I turn the phone into landscape mode, regardless if im in an app or not the image gets distorted and its annoying as balls. Can anyone help me out?
No one know about this app

How to fit wallpaper as static without stretched

I am trying to get some wallpapers to fit, when i view them they look good for the screen, but when i set them as wallpapers they get realy messed up.
I tryed alot now including apps that should resize them to fit etc.
the wallpapers i try to use is from here:
http://s700.photobucket.com/albums/ww2/aandrew1967/walls/#!cpZZ10QQtppZZ36
Only ones i get to work are the wide ones that are very rare.
Is there a way to fit the other wallpapers you see there, the tall normal ones ?
Hope someone can help!

I think I know what you're talking about. It's a problem with the way ICS and JB handle wallpapers.
I found that using wallpaper wizardrii or multipicture live wallpaper will do the trick.

I tested crop wallpaper from play store, and selected the part i wanted to use as wallpaper, clicked set wallpaper and the picture is still stretched out and don`t look like how i selected to crop it.
Something is messing up the pics by stretching them.
Also tested the first mentioned app and that one dosen`t work eighter.
Any more ideas i can try ?
Wallpaper Wizardrii is what you need. Press 'Set' and choose 'Crop Portrait'.
if all your looking to do is set a static wallpaper and not have it scroll with screen swipe then you can only enable this on a third party launcher. Sense has a permanent wallpaper scroll and thats why it stretches those pics for you. I recommend apex where you can set static non scroll option.
Alternatively, as mentioned by first reply here, multi picture live wallpaper will also do the trick so long as you set the source folder to contain the ONE wallpaper of choice because sense forces the wallpaper to change automatically to another on screen swipe. If you only have one in the selected source folder, it should just swipe to the same paper of your choice. I may be wrong.

Sorry that was also a no go..
Must be something that stopping me to crop the pictures, could be some function in my ROM or ST(suite Tools)
Not sure how i should solve this, maby reflash without Suite tools.
I also use apex launcher with wallpaper option set to fixed when I want my wallpaper not to scroll
