Stylus for Archos 70 ... - Gen8, Gen9, Gen10 Accessories

I'm looking for a good stylus for my Archos 70 Internet Tablet 250GB.
I just found out that there are bluetooth styli! Would these work with the Archos 70 IT?
Also, I'd like a stylus with a fine point, so I can easily choose small font links.
I will use the stylus for typing (on-screen keyboard), clicking on links (small fonts!), gaming and drawing.

Not sure what a bluetooth stylus would achieve, I may be wrong but I believe they are intended for use on non-touch screen devices.
I've been using NDS stylus' for the most part and have had decent success with them, plus you can find them in packages of 6 or more fairly cheap (at meritline or deal extreme). I found a nice extendable one for a couple bucks that has a fairly fine tip at meritline.

Thanks. I sent a message to Meritline inquiring about the fine-tip capacitive stylus. I didn't find anything on their website.

You can actually search up any stylus that would work for the iPad.
Since the iPad is more common than an Archos at the moment (due to Apple and whatnot), most of the capacitive styli out there say iPad-compatible to bring sales up.
You can go to Fry's for a decent one. I got mines there for $20, and it included a full sized pen-size stylus with a mini one you can hang as a keychain. Neat!

I'm using a Targus iPad stylus. Works fine.

I have a Boxwave combo with a pen.
Works great

I ordered it last Friday and I am waiting for it. From what I 've read it's one of the best out there

+1 good stuff

Do you think that screen protector affects the stylus responsiveness?
I got my boxwave stylus, overall I am ok but not "excited"... I believe that sometimes the response is not so good
I installed a screen protector couple of days ago. Do you think this has something to do?
Thanx
Mike

In my case, a classic stylus (like a DS's) won't work

is there any chance of damaging the Archos screen using a hard stylus? We don't exactly have Gorilla glass on these things, screen feels soft.

Yes, there is a change of damaging the screen with a hard stylus because the screen doesn't support it.
iPad-like stylus works just fine (I say iPad because all advertised ones I saw at Fry's or electronic stores sell them with the brand)

The screen protector will affect the stylus responsiveness and your finger touch performance, depending on how the screen protector was made. If it was a cheap one from eBay, it will be quirky at times. If it was made will at least some sort of technology built in (like those glue-less screen protector I'm using) will be better, but will still affect performance.
I've found that if you use a screen cleaning tool (like a spray and microfiber towel) it will smoothen out the protector and your fingers will be more responsive.

Need a good stylus for the vibrant

Anyone know of a decent stylus for the vibrant? I just ordered a cheapo one from ebay and it's not that great. It has a rubber tip so I can't swype or drag well. I just want one so I can use the phone without taking off my gloves during cold weather. Thanks.
What about touchscreen gloves, instead?

I also need to know this. I use Square to process credit cards for my business and customers have hard time using thier finger for signatures, I need a pen that will work and not scratch the screen.

the screen has gorilla glass so its almost impossible to scratch and you can just google capacitive stylus and go to the shopping section

Yes, it does.
I've been doing some more research on it. I can't really find the perfect stylus. I tried to use my crappy stylus today and it was a hassle to get it in and out of my pocket. I think I may abandon the whole stylus thing altogether and go with another method like sewing some conductive thread into my shooting gloves.

Whoever wanted a stylus for signatures, it looks like the Dagi stylus give the best accuracy. I would've went with that, but it is kind of expensive and hear it stops working randomly.

DayDeal.com has a HTC Branded stylus that looks exactly like the Dagi one. They also have several conductive foam tip ones as well. Just stay away from rubbery style tips. They are a little smaller and a little more precise for tapping, but they stick to the screen so Swype does not work well and neither would signatures.
BTW - Does the square hardware work with the T959 Vibrant?

Wow, that HTC one is just as expensive as the Dagi. I would've gotten one, but read some reviews about it not working after a while.
The best stylus I've used is, by far, the Griffin. I got mine from Amazon for just under $15. I bought it for sketching on my iPad but use it on my Vibrant as well.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0041D0K1Q/ref=oss_product
The tip is soft rubber (as opposed to conductive foam like the Pogo) that slides across the screen nicely. The eBay kinds have rubber that skids and leaves marks - the tip on this one does not. I've used it on bare screens, crystal clear screen protectors, and matte anti-fingerprint screen protectors with no issues whatsoever.
Sensitivity and accuracy are better than the Pogo and it works at all angles, unlike those crap eBay kind.
From what I understand, Targus and Boxwave make versions that are pretty much identical. I think they all run about the same price, so I guess go with whatever brand you like best.

i just got the griffin stylus. its pretty nice. slick on the screen. doesnt grip at all. needs little to no pressure on the screen. only problem is finding the sweet spot for the 4 bottom buttons. it only works like half the time with more pressure.

[Q] Stylus? Worth it?

I've been looking into getting a stylus? What are your thoughts? Do all of them have round blunt ends? this is the one I was looking at...
http://www.wacom.com/en/Products/BambooStylus.aspx
Yes, they all have round blunt ends. Some are better than others but there's really nothing you can do about it with a capacitive screen.
You are never going to get anywhere near the accuracy you would get with an active digitizer. Also, you'll never have any sort of pressure sensitivity.
so personally, I don't think it's worth it but I'm probably not the best person to give you advice. I am user of windows tablets with active digitizers(wacom and n-trig) so I will never have any respect for capacitive styli. then again, they're pretty cheap and they do work to some extent so I guess you can't really lose.
I'll stick with my fujitsu t5010 for now and I'll probably get a fujitsu q550, motion computing cl900 or asus ep121 soon. If I really wanted to take notes with an android tablet, I'd get the htc flyer(it has an n-trig digitizer) but the note taking software for android is really quite pathetic compared to something like one note for windows.
don't get me wrong here. I'm a huge fan of android. I actually write android tablet apps for a living. there's a lot of things android tablets do well but note taking is not one of those things.
Just make sure you get one with rubber tip and not foam.

That's because the flyer has a n-trig active digitizer. The galaxy tab, however, certainly does not.
I use a Targus stylus from time to time on my XOOM and my Galaxy Tab 7.
The primary advantage for me is fingerprint reduction. Its nice to clean the screen and have it stay clean for a while. Try eating Pizza and poking your tablet's screen with your finger!
Accuracy is better with a stylus, however in terms of speed, fingers are generally faster.

You'll like it. It's very precise and matches the build quality of the targus one.
You can make a good stylus out of an aluminum pen or hollow aluminum tube (from a telescopic mirror or an antenna) and some conductive foam squeezed into the end. there are tutorials on youtube. You should be able to get the foam from a computer supply shop or you can order it for cheap on ebay

Pointer for touch screen

I'm looking for a pointer that I can use that is sensitive to the touch screen so I dont have to use my fingers. Its just that sometimes things are so small that its hard to move specifically like in game stuff.
Like what the guy is using in this video

I've found the ones with a rounded tip to be rather imprecise. But if you want something really cheap, you can pick those up at just about any cheap tech retailer (such as dealextreme or brando or even ebay).
I recently ordered a stylus from Dagi.
They are somewhat more expensive and they look a bit weird with that transparent disc at the point, but they really work well! You might want to use the touchscreentune utility to tune the sensitivity of your screen for stylus use (you need to make it a little more sensitive for optimal results).
Note that the precision is related to the disc size: I ordered the P507 one (with the cap) and got a free P505. The 507 has a smaller disc due to the cap that goes on; I found out that the freebee 505 actually works more precise.
Or make one? A little anti-static foam, a metal bodied pen, and wallah, free stylus. You can google other ways to make them too.
Thanks guys!

Anyone found a decent stylus?

Is anyone using a stylus with the A100? There are times I would prefer writing or tapping things out with a stylus instead of my finger.
I tried this stylus because it actually claimed to work with the Iconia Tab when I bought. But it was unusable and I sent it back. (I could pretty much get a lighter touch and more accuracy with my fist.)
So is it the nature of the screen that a stylus won't work well? Or did I just pick a bad stylus?

My experience with two different styluses (neither of them is your model) is that they are:
1) - inaccurate - impossible to hit a precise point on the screen.
2) - choppy - cannot draw a continuous straight line in a drawing program.
So for me, a stylus is a complete waste of money. $40 in my case
Personally, I think it's the screen.
I bought a $10 stylus, and it sucked on it.
Then I helped fund the "Cosmonaut" stylus on Kickstarted, so I got one of those for free, and it is absolutely incredible, but it doesn't work on the A100. It is choppy when I draw, like it isn't always conducting.
But when I use it on my phone, or on my sister's iPad, it works flawlessly.
That's why I think it is the screen.
anyone find a working one?
Hi all curious if anyone found a working stylus? I use adobe touch and a working stylus would make my life tons easier? Can anyone confirm if the screen is the real issue? Thanks!
I purchased the Acer stylus official, I must say it is quite accurate, and with the right pressure can make almost a straight line. But the screen is a bit 'too sensitive, should be calibrated.

I haven't used many. Most look very bulbous and are enough money that I haven't been willing to try one. The only Stylus I have purchased are the cheap little ones for the Nintendo DS. I payed $4 for a 3 pack of them. They are TINY, but they telescope so you can have one in your change pocket and forget its even there. They have a fine tip but not all that soft. what I like is I can use it to pin-point click small buttons and links easily with them. For less then $1.50 each I like them allot.
I use a cheap Inland Bluetooth mouse at home. It was less then $15 at Fry's and works fine with our device. It makes a nice sort of a remote when watching movies on the TV and the mouse pointer works great for controlling the interface. The scroll wheel works wonders to navigate lists. It also has yet to use up the first pair of AAA batteries I put in it a few weeks ago.

I'd like to start a bit of a revival in this thread as I'm really craving a decent stylus right now, for a long time I was an expensive fountain pen and notebook guy, still am for some things, but since ICS and me being used to my tablet on my person it's so useful, but I can only type so quickly on a touch screen that I miss shorthand.
Here is a link that surfaced for the iPad, it has a great gamut of styli, http://www.theverge.com/2012/4/10/2925937/best-stylus-ipad-review
I'm wondering what the cosmonaut is like with ICS and build.prop modifications, have you tried this mitch?

I love using a stylus with my S2. I think I actually do so more than I used the S-pen on my previous Note devices. I am actually just using one of the type that you described because I found a few lying around. I wouldn't mind upgrading to a more... stylish stylus (heh) but the kind I'm using does work quite well. Let me know if you find a nice one that you like :good:
Personally I just use a cheap and cheerful stylus from the pound shop. Maybe one of the soft rubber ones that you don't want (it's dome-ended and semi-flexible, not pointed) but it works well enough and if it breaks or dents (the body is thin aluminium) then just replace it with a new one. My S2 case has a pen/stylus loop to store it, and for me it's fine.
My kids also use styluses (stylii?) on their tablets (Hudl's) - they have solid novelty ones that look like pencils but again work fine (although are a bit chunky and small for my adult hands).
So after checking out amazon and some local stores, I still have not found the best pointy stylus that I want but one that I can compromise with and some others.
The Adonit Jot Pro really works, but just worried about the plastic that it will eventually scratch enough of the screen.
The cross dual stylus is the one I compromised based on that it has a pen and the slim and firm rubber of the stylus. Can be slippery to use as a pen though.
Bamboo's smart stylus pen, though advertised to work for samsung galaxy devices does not work. I tried it at a local bestbuy.
But you could get the one from Bamboo with carbon fiber tip (not pointy) and that one works.
Maybe buying this in the future to just try Lynktec Apex Fine Point Stylus. It is advertised to work with galaxy tab s2 in the shopandroid website.
Hopefully you guys can find better than I do.
does this tablet have a pressure sensitive digitizer? someone on Reddit said it did...
Hey guys, I just got a pack of styli that I ordered from Amazon this AM and I'm finding them to be pretty nice in addition to a killer deal. I was doing some research on the topic and found a couple that looked good in a Lifehacker article, but checking out the reviews lots of people had some kind of beef with their recs and they were about $15 each. Browsing around Amazon lead me to these: http://www.amazon.com/Bargains-0-18...49936069&sr=1-2&keywords=bargain+depot+stylus which looked like they were worth a shot, so I grabbed a 4-pack for $9, because math.
So they just showed up about an hour ago, and I would definitely recommend them. The stylus itself has a bit of weight to it, so it feels like using a decent pen, and the tip feels like it's just the right size. In addition to a bag of extra tips that you can switch out if necessary, each has a cap also which I thought was a nice touch. So I'm not sure if this is what everyone's looking for, but if you want a comfortable/precise stylus you really can't go wrong here.
Does anyone have any stylus-centric apps that they frequently use? The S2 is my first non-Note device in a while, so I'm used to doing things with an S-pen that a stylus isn't capable of. I just DLed Google Handwriting Input and Squid (nice for marking up PDFs). I use mine just for swiping around a lot because I have a tablet stand that's a little far from my chair, but I'd interested in hearing about any other apps :good:

Did u end up getting lynteck fine point.
OK, so how do you guys carry the stylus on your tablet? I'm using the Samsung book case because I love the thinness and the way the flaps work. I bought the Large Pen Loop by Arune on Amazon and just don't like the way the stylus just flops around when it's in the loop. I'm thinking of some type of leather or plastic sleeve that can stick on the case and the stylus slides into it.
I thought that a stylus don't work on galaxy's tab s2 9.7 lte alias sm-t 815... yet I See that a metallic thing work as a pen... with a pencil it don't work... this only could work with Wacom displays and a magnetic overflow...I'm confused. ..
im using the 'amazon basic' stylus and it works great with my s2 8.0...
But this is not this what I mean... If u heave headphones so u should try to use the tap with the jack plug as a pen so the spen also should work... I try it tomorrow

You are never going to find a stylus for the Tab that will even approach the tip of the S Pen because the S Pen has nothing to do with the TouchScreen. The S Pen on the Note interacts with an electromagnetic screen placed behind the LCD screen in the Note. Tabs don't have that screen. Instead a stylus for a Tab depends on replacing the "capictance" of your finger with that of the stylus's rubber tip. Can't do that with a tiny tip.
However, if you read further down in this thread, you will find a stylus that does have a much smaller tip than normal. The only problem with them is that the tips must be replace every so often because their special capacitance quality "wears out" with use. Thus the replaceable tips that come with the stylus.

No, because the bluetooth receiver in the Tab would have no way to determine the exact position of the external bluetooth pen.
