Video problems. - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Well it seems I've had a persistent problem with my rooted G2. I used the visionary method and everything seems good. But recently anything video related freezes. Ill try to play a youtube video (Strong Wifi connection) and it'll freeze. Like ill still hear the audio but not the video it just stays black or on one image. & everytime I try to watch videos I have stored in my sd card the video player crashes or shows nothing.
Anyone had the same issue? I'm pretty sure its not a hardware problem because ill play PSX or angry birds and it runs perfectly fine. Anyone have a fix for this?

[Q] Problem with flash videos in browser

Hi
Whenever i try playing a flash video in the browser (or in skyfire), after i press the play button, the progress bar is moving, i get the audio, but there's no video - the video area remains black.
I'm experiencing this for about 2 months now, in which i switched ROMs (iceandfire, cyanogen), updated the flash player several times, updated skyfire several times (it happens both in skyfire and stock browser), cleared cache of those 3 apps, cleared data, tried to uninstall and reinstall...
nothing helps...
Any ideas?
Thanks
Edit: found a similar thread at cyanogonmod forums:

I'll keep an eye on it over there. I''ld delete this post if I knew how...
I also had this problem, then I downloaded the 10.2.idontknow and it worked again!
i am using the cm 7.0.3 and adobe flashplayer 10.3. seems no problem. i did not do any extra setting. so give it a try.
I have a similar issue. Mine will play fine in the browser, but when I open the video in Youtube after starting a video in the browser, it will start to play, but only audio plays - no video. I am currently using a stock, non-rooted G2. I didn't have this
problem with my last G2 running CM7 though...

I have the same issue. However my YouTube app works fine. An interesting point is videos that automatically open in full screen from the browser work. I'm on cm7.0.3 with the latest flash.
I used to be able to resolve the issue with an older version of flash but now when I do that YouTube gripes that I must update flash player.

Wow I must be lucky, because I've never experience this issue. And I watch youtube dailymotion on the browser and never had this issue

I've had the black screen of death too. Only audio on random embedded videos. Like worldstarhiphop.com for instance. I'll try a fresh rom install and see if that works if no fixed is found in this thread. It's the only thing hindering CM7 based roms.

from the cyanogenmod forums (the link i posted in my first post):
@dewd write:
"Yes. I did 2 things to make it work.
1. I updated to the latest version of Flash in the market (10.3.185.22).
2. I used ROM Manager to "Fix Permissions" (and rebooted).
After these steps I was able to watch Flash movies.
This did not fix Netflix, It plays movies with sound, but no picture. "
it worked for me, took a couple of minutes to fix permissions but then i was able to see flash videos again.
i checked it only in 1 website though...
I have same problem...
Apparently the fix permissions method didn't work...
So I tried what @Tommebaas recommended, and downloaded an old 10.2 version of Adobe Flash Player.
It worked! thanks @Tommebaas
Here's a link to the version that did the trick for me:

10.3 is better and runs flash that 10.2 can't, so that's not really a fix if I downgrade.

What does 10.3 run, that 10.2 can't? I don't view a whole bunch of sites with Flash. But for what I have viewed, I've never had an issue as far back as 10.1. It seems like a lot of the recent updates have had more to do with tablets (and very minor performance enhancements) than anything else.
I moved Flash to SD and it works for me now.

the 10.2 install fixed it for me, idk what is suppose to be special about 10.3 but um if it doesnt work its not better than 10.2 so yeah.

Defy audio/video delay

Hi, I'm a proud owner of a brand new mb525 with a 2.1.1 stock ROM installed on it.
I recently tried playing a movie on it and found out that whenever I fastforward or backforward it, the video becomes unsynchronized with the audio. I've tried multiple players but all of them gave me the same result.
Has anyone else been having this problem? How do I fix it?

I'm having the same problem after installing CM7
Can you upload example, where video unsynchronized with the audio?

Not anywhere specific, I just fast forward once and then I see the lips moving and the sound comes about 7-10 seconds later

Official 2.2 here and I have the same issue with pretty much any Xvid I try (torrented tv rips mostly). Using soft decoding in MoboPlayer solves the problem for me.
i had it with default 2.1 on my defy... also happened after a pause does anyone knows if is there any player that solves this?

[Q] black screen bbc iplayer

I have a HTC desire hd with Cyanogen mod 7.1.0 rc1...
since updating the iplayer app I haven't been able to see the videos, but the sound is there I tried it with flash-player 10 & now the latest.. still the same, I
can watch you-tube, and videos on my device, I tried it with video codec for Armv7 still black screen... has anyone a suggestion on how to get the dam thing to work.. please
did you try reinstalling iplayer again, i´ve found that works sometimes. i use iplayer over a vpn from spain and it requires force stopping the app to get it to work quite often and sometimes even that doesnt work so i´ve got the apk on my sd card so i can reinstall whenever clearing the app cache or fc the app doesnt work. hope this helps
edit i´m on virtuous unity 2.39 but i had the same issues on stock gingerbread so i dont think my issue was a rom thing
I tryed reinstalling, tryied older versions, the same every time, It worked when it was on stock 2.2 froyo, so it seem to be a codec issue with cyanogenmod, but have not seen any related comment. thanks for the reply.
How about the iplayer webpage online, is that working?

I tried using cm7 and had the same problem.Fixed it using an older version of flash. Don't know why but the newest flash doesn't work with cm7.

I fixed iplayer in the browser by doing this

however it went back when i rebooted.
Uninstall then reboot, then reinstall and reboot then it should work fine.
It did for me.

I have an issue where it won't play a whole video. At least most of the time. It'll get maybe half way through the video and then it's like the buffering just stopped so there's nothing else to play. Anymore I just open all YouTube links in Dolphin.

Even after doing this my youtube videos on low quality still take 45 seconds to load and then it still buffers all the way through the video. If I try to load a video in HD, i have to leave it in the same spot and wait about 3-5 mins for it to start playing. Im in phoneix az where there is no 4G, and my 3G is about .40mbps most of the time.

[Q] problem with camera and gallery

hello
i have htc one v, after a week working with the phone, i faced a problem!!
my camera dont record a video, and the gallery dont play the videos.
i even changed the rom but the problem is still with me
i am very hopeless
please help me soon
What rom is this on?
Which Rom are you using ??
Make it clear...
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda app-developers app
Its most likely you are missing a set of codecs. I can only recommend downloading a media playing app like VLC, this will play most files types. Without anymore information about what rom you are using with what kernel it is hard to say anything more.
