[Q] Gamepad IME app, possible to adapt to adam? - Adam Themes and Apps

Original Post:
Alright, I've been lurking forever for Windows Mobile stuff, but I just got an Adam.
I was trying to figure out if there was anyway to use a USB gamepad with the adam, and found an app named "Gamepad IME"
Apparently it works with pretty much every program I want it for. However, as the Adam has no market access, I can't find it anywhere. I don't have an android phone, so I can't rip the APK that way, and I can't find the APK anywhere on the net.
If anyone can get the APK for that app and post it here, that'd be fantastic.
First result for it when googling is the androlib page for it.
Update 2/2/11:
Ok, So I picked up one of these:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826179017
Which is a HID compliant gamepad. It's still not detected, I'm wondering if there's a compatability issue with the adam and the GamePad IME
Sven, the developer, has the source code up on his website: http://sven.killig.de/android/N1/2.2/usb_host/
Any intrepid coders care to look at it and see if there's any way to get it to function with the adam?

Here you go. I hope this will work, good luck!

You are fantastic. Thank you greatly.
Sadly, it seems that my USB gamepad(Which is just a PS3 usb adapter) doesn't function. I'll see if I can dig up any other USB gamepads that show up as general gamepads without drivers, and see if they work.

Anyone test the below
Xbox 360 usb controller
Wii controller via bluetooth
Ps3 controller via bluetooth
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App

Tested PS3 controller via bluetooth, doesn't get detected when attempting to pair.
It seems the PS3 only enables pairing mode via usb through supported devices.
I don't own either of the others to test with, sadly.

I've tried a random PC gamepad and the xbox 360 usb controller but no luck here.

I wonder what it would take to get the 360 controller detected via usb.. would we need to compile drivers from windows or how would that work?

Love to see the Wireless 360 adapter for wireless 360 controllers.
Or even a PS3 controller via bluetooth should be achievable given the right devs who can look at the Windows Mobile app. I think it pairs via usb too.

What was that gamepad ime apk originally designed for? I can test the xbox 360 controller when I get back home with that gamepad apk.
sent from gv1.5 on g2

It was originally designed for the Nexus S, but I don't know what controllers it was designed for.

PS3 controller possible?

Would it be possible to link a PS3 controller to our phone? The only problem I could see would be linking them up... But it would be badass for emulators!
I'm breathing life back into any old thread I can find that has this question. I just got the EVO 3D and once my mhl cable comes, I'm gonna be rockin the emulator over HDMI to my tv, and would LOVE to be able to just use my PS3 controller. We need to get on this STAT.
I'm willing to help in any way possible.
just use a emulator and download the Ps3 drivers to your pc,then if you have a pc with HDMI you can connect it to your TV.....why would you use your phone when you can run any kind of console with your pc...lol

Because I can't take my PC with me anywhere I go...
If I could do it through the phone I could play on my TV while I'm home, but also on the go anywhere that I have my phone, without having to export/import save files or play two separate games.
well...you will have to use bluetooth to connect the controller to your phone, the phone can't power that device on usb....

Yeah, that's the plan. Hoping to somehow link the controller for use with the phone. PS3 is tricky though because it requires a USB connection to a device in order to pair with it. I'm hoping to use a PC as an intermediary to 'introduce' them to each other and then it should (in theory) just be a matter of collecting/interpreting button press data and mapping it to the correct buttons in the phones emulator.
kinda old but has to be a way for Android.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mH_NBKtj0R8

You are out of luck when trying to pair PS3 controller to Android. Can't be done at the moment.
Best bet is still the Wii remote (can use the classic controller as well) or purchasing a special type bluetooth gamepad off the net (just search Google and there are a few to choose from that do work well).

I'm sorry, but I refuse to believe that two bluetooth devices based on Linux can't somehow be paired. Maybe extra hardware needs to be introduced, and there'll probably be some reverse engineering involved, but if they can connect a wiimote to Android, and a ps3 controller to a windows phone, there has to be a way to make this work...

It may not be able to be done with the EVO yet but it can be done. I've done it natively on my Xoom with emulators many times.

That's awesome. That's the kind of encouraging thing that makes me believe this can be done. Perhaps there's a way to force the pairing with one of those cables and then wirelessly sync from that point on. Were you able to try that at all with the Xoom?

you're doing it with a cable though, so at that point its just a standard usb input device.

How about just playing the games that you already have on available on your phone. I don't see this ever working especially with sonys ****ty products.
this is also why I have all manner of game systems and PCs hooked up to my tvs/projectors:

Pretty much I heard it comes down to being able to pair the thing with the phone. Maybe drivers too.
I'd say that, at least from a hardware perspective, all you should need is a wire that would plug into both of them. Haven't the slightest idea what you'd need from the software side though.

You have to use a cable. The ps3 controller may be Bluetooth but it uses a non standard protocol, rendering it completely incompatible with our evo's Bluetooth stack. People had to write custom drivers from the ground up to get the ps3 controller to work on the PC, but that jacks up your ability to use other normal Bluetooth functions (at least the last time I tried a month or two ago, it still did).

[Q] 3.1 and Xbox Wireless Reciever

[Update]
Seems like the answer is yes!
I've not got the 3.1 update yet so I can't tests this.
What are the chances that with the new joystick support and host mode that the USB xbox wireless receiver will work? Would be great to use a wireless 360 pad with the emulators and even android games
Xbox360 wont work wireless. only wired. Maybe ps3 ones will work in the future wireless with bluetooth. What i dont understand is that if you will need to download a driver o someone have to make an app like the one for the wii controller.
Just to be clear, I'm referring to the USB connected wireless receiver for PC's to use the wireless controllers. I know work has been done to get it running in Linux, was hoping they would have added support in 3.1 (long shot I know).
Good question on the app, I assume we'll just need the applications to understand the mappings. I assume the emulators will work since they have a built in mapping utility.

If I had a dang OTG cable i'd be able to tell you...wish verizon would start selling them!
I've now got an otg cable and receiver so once 3.1 hits the UK I'll do some testing
As of now the PC adapter doesn't work. Also app developers need to add some lines of code in order to take full advantage of USB devices. I have dne a little research on it, I don't know how much it would take to add new devices to the xoom, but from looking at it people should be able to write/port drivers to the xoom kinda like how the wii remote work using an app. At least this is my understanding of how it works.

Xbox controller?

I've been reading that the new Transformer Prime supports Xbox controllers. I'm rooted with Overcome 2.something and want to know if I have this ability already. I also read that people have been using a USB dongle that Microsoft sells but I'd like something that is already built in to work. I also have a PS3 controller if that'll work, although I prefer the Xbox controller.
HDMI out and an Xbox controller = big screen NES!!!
since the xbox wireless controller uses a custom wireless protocoll, you can't use it without the dongle. You can use a wired xbox controller though.
I also prefer the xbox controller, but the PS3 controller is better suited for this. Since the PS3 controller uses bluetooth, you can buy a app on the market called "Sixaxis Controller", which allows you to use a PS3 controller over bluetooth with the tab. It's really awesome
EDIT: I also fine the PS3 controller better suited for emulation, because the dpad is in a better position for this.
is there anyway to do this without root? i read somewhere in 3.2 reenabled controller support for 10.1 i have a stock tablet and don't want to root unless i really really need to.
So, just to check, will the Xbox wireless receiver USB dongle work with the tab?

Wondering the same thing. I tried to connect the dongle to my Tab but my controller wouldn't connect to it (just flashed the green light, searching but no connection it seemed).
Is there a way to make the Xbox360 controller work if you connect the dongle to the Tab (or without it for all I care, just want it to work )
I just bought the 30 pin to USB and so far haven't been able to get a wired 360 controller to work but I am running stock so that might be the problem... If I were to root and get like 3.2 or something would this work?

I just did this, although I haven't tried it yet. Not sure what they show up as when connected though? Going to test it right now
Edit: Blah, the only wired 360 controller I have is a third party one, it showed up but I'm not sure how to use it. I tried the "USB/BT joystick center" app and it wanted me to make a driver by selecting bits of input data directly .

Pick up a WII controller - cheaper and closer to the old school NES experience )

Anyone tried to setup a controller on the tablet? I just purchased a moga power pro controller but I wa unable to set it up. It is workig fine with my S4 and the bluetooth works on the tablet becase I managed to connect the phone to the tablet via bluetooth.
Does anyone know how to setup the controller or becase it is a 3rd party device the access blocked?

Are you just trying to connect via bluetooth? I haven't done this in a long time (way back on my Xoom) but I thought you needed a 3rd party app and Root access to link them.

Moga has an app can be downloaded from the play store (moga pivot) and yes it uses bluetooth. This should work without root. If you google moga is a big name which should work on android 2.3 and above. I think the reason is samsung which is now blocking all 3rd part devices from 4.4.2 but I am not sure. I think the only option left is the samsung gamepad..
Not for $100 bucks. That's plain crazy

If anyone gets a wired xbox controller to work, please let us know what you did. I was totally just hoping it was going to work and it doesn't. (at least for me). I just get a blinking light on the xbox controller. I have the 10.5.
I even rooted and installed USB/BT JoystickCenter Gold Demo but then that gets a 'can not get access to /dev/uinput error'

Has anyone been able to get the sixaxis app working? I can't... I believe it has to do with a missing Samsung Bluetooth protocol in newer Samsung devices.
That was one of my main reasons for getting a tablet!
Not that it matters but I emailed Samsung support and their response: Thank you for contacting Samsung. I see that you would like to know whether Galaxy Tab S supports hooking up to a wired xbox USB controller. I do understand your concern and requirement. However, this Tablet does not support wired xbox USB controller. Unfortunately, as of now theere are no compatible controllers that use an USB OTG cable for this model from Samsung and Samsung does not have any tested results on using PS3 controller with the Tablet. I hope the above provided information address your concern.
controller recharges the tablet
is it possible to connect the controller (that has a battery pack) to the tablet and recharge the tablet?
eg. can a xbox one controller, that has a battery pack, be connected with an mhl cable/usb cable to a tablet and be used to charge the tablet? so the tablet is not drained while playing games.
(i asked this in the accessories forum too, apologies)

I tried that, but the Galaxy Tab won't find the controllers. I've set it up on multiple devices, but couldn't get it working on this one.
I read that the newer Samsung devices don't come with a Bluetooth protocol that is required for sixaxis to work... I hope I'm wrong!

Hello,
It's possible to connect and use the PS4 controller on a HTC 10 please ?

Haven't ever tried the ps4 pad but it should work.
Try the pair tool to see if it's functional before buying the app.
The MAC address needs to be changed, Google six axis. Originally based on the Ps3 pad.

I have tried bluetooth via the sixaxis route (changing the MAC address to match my phone) and I have tried verified to be working USB-C OTG cables (USB thumb drives work fine via the cable on the HTC10) and both seem to connect to the dual shock 4 (bluetooth connects and lists it as a controller and when using the OTG cable the DS4 connects and starts charging) but none of the controller buttons do anything. I'm not sure where to go from here... Maybe it's missing a generic and controller specific key layout file but I am not sure, I'll have to dig deeper once I root.

The sixaxis app (that requires root) does not work on Marshmallow. I was referring to the sixaxis pairing tool which doesn't have anything to do with root. Both the pairing tool and OTG methods work on my Nexus 6 for the DS4.
I test with a Nexus 5 (Android 6.0.1) : not work
But work with a Wiko Rainbow 4G (Android 4.4.2).
Tried the app, didn't work. Couldn't connect the controller either, will stick with me Moga
