Bootloader for T-Mobile US rom - Defy General

Does anybody have the original bootloader for the T-Mobile US rom handy as a sbf file ?
It seems that the update to 6.390 (from 6.190) works only if you have the original bootloader installed. Of course mine is either 2.21 or 2.34 depending upon the day of the week ;-)

If you tell me or point me in the right direction I can pull it from one of my phones.

Hey BizzaBoy, did you get that bootloader. I've been trying to figure out why my Defy is not upgrading and I came up with the same conclusion. I believe I changed the bootloader when I flashed to the CN Froyo. Now, I'm back to my original T-Mobile software but I get an error when I try to update.

No, I didn't try. It seems that you cannot downgrade the bootloader. On the other hand, I'm happy right now with the 3.4.2 T-Mobile Froyo ;-) Guess they (Motorola & T-Mobile) just want to make it painfull for people who every now and then want to try out something new to switch back the phone to it's original state.

Which, or whose ROM did you use?

Just rooted but went from 2.2 to 2.1

I just did the root, nand, and radio
However I didn't know that I was going back to 2.1
What are the cons of 2.1 vs 2.2 and how long usually before there is an updated rooted 2.2?
Thanks
2.2 is out officially??? Where/how can I/we get it?
It just automatically downloaded when I got my phone yesterday. Now I'm wondering if I should go back and update and wait then re root later or just wait.
Are you sure you had 2.2? Where did you get your phone? What is your hardware version?
Positive I had it. I got it at walmart yesterday. As soon as I activated it downloaded like three updates.
I was using flash etc.

Flash lite?
Flash works with 2.1 also (at least on the evo)
I'm not really sure. I just know it said 2.2 and not 2.1.
also my hardware is 2.2
I wish I would've known I would've backed up before rooting. I didn't see any reason since the phone was new with nothing on it.
I just checked and it said no updates available.
So in order to go back to stock all I have to do is reflash with the stock rom. Just throw it on sd and flash as normal?

Just flash RUU from your computer.
Settings > About > Hardware, your Hardware Version is 2.2, NOT 002 or 003?
no its 002 sorry running on two hours of sleep here.
Ok i'm going to try to go back to stock then upgrade.
at least I know I can root it again. maybe faster next time too.
well I unrooted and got some prl updates but no firmware
here goes
Take the battery out of the for about 5 sec then put the battery back in and go in to recovery and try reflashing the rom that work for me
One of three things happened..
You are either have a nexus one and are in the wrong forum..
Are mistaken that you had 2.2 prior to root..
Or you're just trying to mess with everyone..
2.2 is not out in any way officially on any HTC phone, so you couldn't have had it. And no, you couldn't have been the only person in the country to have accidentally gotten it somehow.

2.1 unrevoked-rooted tmo -> unchanged 2.2 HOW?

this is my second thread about this issue, and PLEASE don't answer if you don't know how i could do this. i DON'T want a rooted/modded whatsoever 2.2, just the update that came today.
i guess my best bet would be flashing a htc europe generic rom and get the OTA, but how do i do that?
If your phone is from a network provider then it will more than likely need rooting even if you just want to flash it with a generic HTC ROM.
If it was purchased SIM free then it should already have a generic ROM and it will just be a matter of time before you get the OTA update.
Have you tried manually chacking for an update on the phone?

Here's how
I'm Rooted and I still want the official update after reading the warning.
1) Make a goldcard using this guide (For Desire too)
2) Download this
3) Double click it and follow the instructions.
4) When the update is ready to be pushed out, you will get a notification.
(taken from the Official foyo update thread....please search or read before making threads like this)
Also consider looking at this

BTW, if you do this you will not be able to unroot again untill a new root is found which could take weeks, or could never happen. You loose the ability to install custom roms, or non sense roms.
@ shetlander: it IS rooted, but i'm not able to flash generic, it simply doesn't work
@jedipottsy: i don't have a micro SD card available, but as i said, the phone IS rooted, so i there any way to do it without one? maybe a dump of a generic firmware instead of a ruu.exe?
edit: i forgot to mention, i had a leaked 2.2 build flashed before, but then flashed back to t-mobile rom. what doesn't work ist the flash to htc europe generic

nope, need an sdcard, can't flash an official over an unofficial, you need sd to restore to an older official.

well i was able to got to a defrost build and back to stock without goldcard, i don't see why a htc generic can't function (
cant see the advantage of using the official, you loose too much for little gain

there is full 2.2 with extras, or plain with root, much easier to install and you dont loose root
thx jedi, i am actually flahshing the thingy with busybox(whatever that does), there's no way i'm gonna miss teeter ^^

Download this rom:
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Bra...00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed.zip
change the name to PB99IMG and put it on your gold card, boot into recovery and select fastboot, it will install the generic 1.21 rom, then when you check for updates the froyo update will be there, btw doing this wipes everything on your phone. Worked for me although I didn't install the froyo update as I am scared of the bootloader.

[Q] Froyo 2.2 On a USCelular based HTC Desire

You probably get these a lot and I'm sorry for reporting if you have. About 4 days I got an HTC Desire and I know it's only Running Android 2.1 (Eclaire). I've already rooted my phone and what not using the UNrevoked method, and right now it's in the process of loading the Cynagen mod (spell check?), It's been installed correctly, it just seems to be taking a while to load (off topic but is that normal), I Was wondering if there was any possible way to load Froyo onto via mod or and upcoming update. Any step in the right direction, Im new to Android but I do want to become affluent with them.
Alright I got it working, but now unfortunately I just don't think this mod is for me. Is there a way to revert back to the cell phones factory OS?
If you can find an official Cellular ROM you can flash it and revert to stock, unfortunately I don't think there is a leaked one.
I guess I could bring it into my provider and see if they can completely erase and reinstall the operating system, I found an Official Froyo Rom, but I'm having trouble installing it. I installed the radio correctly, but the Official Froyo itselfs keeps aborting.
Keeps saying its 'bad' idk maybe its a bad download but I got it off of XDA.
If you go with a modified software to your provider they may very well decide that your warranty is invalid now.
Can you give a link to the rom you say you've found.

This is thelike to the ROM to upgrade phone to Froyo 2.2, at this point i want to revert back to the to the stock OS, being supposebly Froyo 2.2 will be here for it in jan, but idk its been postponed 234 times now.

I cant help but feel like im not installing the radio correctly, its talking about using a rom manager but from what i've read ROM MAnager should do jut fine. Either that or Cyanogen isn't wanting it to go away.
Well i found a thread on there forums...
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/9270-stock-us-cellular-rom-request/ According the the posters its not COMPLETELY stock but its close enough. Hopefully Froyo will come soon (hopefully)
Right on the second one worked I might try to install that one on a later day.

Flashing Roms how to start, where to start?

Ive been looking through some of the posts on the Android development board, but im relativly new to the idea of flashing different roms.
At the moment my phone is running the standard Froyo 2.2.2 firmware, from Motorola,
system version 34.164.3.MB525.Retail.en.FR
Is it a simple process to change this?
can i go back to the default Rom/version( listed above)? or would i be stuck with, say, cyanogenmod 2.3.4?
would i still be able to use the Motorola phone portal to send texts via my p.c?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1065798
Follow this tutorial..everything is given in this..
The process is simple..u may face few problems flashing a ROM,just search in this forum for the solution.
Well yes u can go back to your stock ROM if you have the sbf file or an nandroid backup.
Yes phone portal is present in CM7 also..so not a problem.
All the best
Thanks for the link, although im still non the wiser.

Looking for some help getting off Vzw ROM to custom

Hello all,
Long story short I currently have an Unlocked 10, rooted, s off, and bootloader unlocked. I have flashed over the Verizon rom and radios last year and left it this way for a while. I'm getting to the point where I'm about ready for a factory reset but figured I might as well update if I'm going to do that. Better yet I'd like to get on LeeDroid but preferably on Android N.
So I need to update to an Android N ROM first, then over to LeeDroid. I can do it, but frankly I do this stuff so little that every time I get a little nervous. My 10 is my daily driver but I currently have a raggedy s6 here I can pop a sim in for a minute if needed.
So I'm wondering would it make sense to just do a backup, flash the latest Unlocked N version then flash LeeDroid? Wouldn't my Verizon radios stay where they're at, or will flashing those roms over write them? And, none of this flashing should overwrite my recovery, should it?
Also, I apologize if this is not appropriate but my other option at this point is to ask, are there any fairly well regarded XDA friends here with some spare time that would be open to taking 20 bucks or so to get me fixed up remotely over teamviewer or something?
Thanks for all your help. I don't post here often but when I do I always find the direction I need as someone who is not a frequent modder anymore lol.

To minimize potential problems I would start fresh going from M to N.
Flash the full N RUU.exe. Flash the latest TWRP, then flash LeeDroid. New firmware, TWRP, and custom rom.

Get a copy of your current M rom for the firmware you currently have and download that. Remember, we're talking full roms not updates. Now get the latest N rom for your device (full ruu.exe). Now you have options. I would flash the N rom, then the latest TWRP, then LeeDroid. Any problems, and you can go right back to M. I always use TWRP 3.0.2-6 with M. So if I go back to M I flash that version of TWRP (from within TWRP itself) first. Take your time. You can do this. You can get the latest N rom from HTC's website. To get your M rom you'll have to search for it using your firmware numbers. Someone should have a copy.
BTW, you can watch ROOT JUNKY's videos on youtube as a refresher on the basics of flashing TWRP and so on. Don't use his files though. They're old.

Yeah I think you're right. I made it this far lol. But the N rom from HTC would just be the unlocked N wouldn't it, not Verizon? I know the Verizon ruu is over in the Verizon HTC 10 forum here so I could get that. Also I think I need to go brush up on firmware vs rom I tend to think they're the same thing but they're not, right?

I see. By "unlocked" you mean the US unlocked GSM HTC 10. I wouldn't mess with trying to alter your radios right now. Yes, stick with Verizon on everything. LeeDroid should run fine with that. Installing a new HTC rom changes your firmware. It will be updated as you go to N. If you decide to back to M, it will be downgraded. Installing a custom rom won't change your firmware. A full rom is composed of several components. The firmware is one component.

Ohhh okay I follow. Yeah sorry I did mean the GSM Unlocked model, I bought direct from HTC. But I couldn't get it to work on unlocked firmware with Verizon so I ended up flashing the Verizon ROM and radio last year.
So I'll grab the Verizon RUU and flash that, then LeeDroid. And update my TWRP. Its long over due anyways lol
Can't thank you enough for your help. I'm going to give it a shot this weekend I think. I really want to run LeeDroid!
