TP2 Rhodium 500 using Tiad8 Froyo X 1/23 12-14 hrs battery life! - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

For new and expert users:
I have been using Android full time on my Rhod500 for about 4 months now, and I have been wishing for a combination that would at least get me about 12 hours of battery life.
I currently have 47 percent battery and the phone has been on for 6.5 hours. I have tried Neopeek, XDAndroid, and Tiad8's FroyoX. FroyoX with the newest files (camera files) is the best for me. Here is what I have:
Rhodium 500 Verizon
Tiad8 FroyoX 1/23
Camera Modules and zImage (in the FroyoX download)
Syncing the following:
-Gmail (PUSH Sync)
-Google Calendar and contacts (PUSH Sync)
-Outlook work email, calendar and contacts (PUSH Sync)
-Yahoo mail (15 min Sync)
-Facebook with Desktop Widget (1 hour Sync)
-ClockSync (12 hour Sync)
I have always used sleepmode = 1 or 2, but the startup that came with FroyoX had sleepmode = 0, which I believe is the most aggresive sleep, but I have not had any Sleep of Death (SoD).
Also, as a speed comparison:
-XDAndroid is always VERY choppy and laggy for me.
-Neopeek is VERY smooth, but requires just a bit of partitioning on the SD card
-Tiad8 FroyoX 1/23 is just as SIMPLE as XDAndroid, but it is JUST AS FAST as the Neopeek builds. I thought the speed would not be as good, since it is not using the ext2 partion, like Neopeek's ports, but it is really just as fast and VERY STABLE.
Hopefully this helps someone. I'll repost if I see any changes or get a better setup.
I can't post this to the development section, since I do not have 10 posts... so here is the first one...

I have been looking for a while now and I connot seem to find out how to get android on my sprint touch pro 2.
Can anyone help with this?
thanks

Battery life comparision

Hi , making a test of most popular roms battery life.I think the results can be helpful someones.I would like to test most popular roms in time. Results list will be refreshed when new roms tested
Intalled Apps : Tapatalk , Screenshot , Juice Plotter , Asphalt , Apk Manager
No livewallpaper , No widgets , No appkillers , No 3g/2g , No Location Services
Wifi closed during 1. and 2. tests.Screen brightness is %40.Volume %50.
Everything installed then restarted phone to start test.
1.Test is Gaming : Playing a popular game named Asphalt.Test duration : 15 min
2.Test is Sleeping : Only cellphone open, wifi and other connections closed.Test duration : 8 hours
3.Test is Wifi + Browsing : Using tapatalk with wifi connection.Test duration : 15 min
Results :
Challenger 1 : Froyo Stock (HTC Sense,rooted)
Test 1: Started with %58 end with %53 so drained %5 in 15 min gaming.
Test 2: Started with %51 end with %37 so drained %14 in 8 hours sleeping.
Test 3: Testing now..
Challanger 2 : OpenDesire 4.0.4
Test 1: In line (results today)
Test 2: In line (results tomarrow)
Test 3: In line (results today)
I have some suggestion, the roms should be tested in the similar battery power, because, sometimes, the time from 100% to 90% may be much longer than it from 70%-60% in the same intensity!
sorry for my bad english. and thx for ur test!it will be beneficial!
I got nothing to currently say.. but the best rom i had regarding battery life was DJ Droid 1.1 i don't have results.. but u can check it urself!
lol 14 % overnight. actually with gpio fix cm6 uses 3% overnight like with cyanogenmod5/sense 2.1
if you test opendesire(cyanogenmod clone) you should test it with an render filter applied too.
In depth testing of leedroid, neophyte, ieftm, od, defrost and cyanogen, didn't show much difference between them.
However, if you want to verify it yourself, I strongly suggest you do away with % gauging method and try to use more accurate tools like current widget and power tutor. And that you move this thread out off the dev section, which is for devs.

[Q] Rom with the best battery life

As the title says.
I am interested in your opinions.
Which one is the best for battery life?
Thanx
There isn't one in particular as it depends on usage and the apps installed
Fresh roms and the cyanogen 6.1

Hi folks,
Just a thought,
Is there a clear view on where real battery drain occurs, by this I mean (for example):
o Radio;
o Kernel;
o Keep Alive Apps / General Health Apps / Background Apps.
Incompatibility between components, e.g. Radio and ROM fight over timing or API issues or .....
Like dzontra11 I'm interesterested in having a phone (good battery life like my old 6210 or 6310i) and occasional Game Use with Internet Browsing (including Gmail sync). WIFI in the flat (90%) and a little 3G around and about.
So I guess I'm asking which combos work best for general use and still be usable. My phone (won't say which radio/ROM combo ATM) informed me earlier that the battery was low, which it was. The sodding phone turned off 2 secs later @ 17%.
In my past life I looked at a lot of system performance issues (usually the classic CPU, I/O & Memory). So I'm guessing where are the current thoughts on this are by people that know in detail.
Regards
Colin
Best I have had to date is DeFroST (all versions seem to be close in usage) with juice ultimate looking after things, gets me almost 2 days with moderate usage.

[COMPARISON] build and version comparison, linpack mflops score

Hi guys, let's see which android port/version/kernel give best results on htc our blackstones,so the community can see which ports are generally better than others
download linpack from market and post results here
DEVICE: blackstone
PORT: xdandroid
SYSTEM: FRX03
KERNEL(zImage/modules): 2.6.27.46-01253-gd53ddf6
CLOCK: 528 MHz
MFLOPS: 1.991
TIME: 42.11
PERSONAL NOTES:
stability: its ok,although i get occasional hang which either resolves itself or FC window, in which i choose to wait and problem resolves very quickly if not instantly
battery: can survive a day with moderate use (wifi,phone,etc)...unplugged the device 6 hours ago, have wifi turned on for about 4.5 hours, downloaded a few apps, made a few calls and it is at 70% i will post more info later today though
bug: wifi won't work after you twice turn it on and turn it off,and 2D is choppy and somehow blinks, but 3D can run up to 15fps on quadrant
cheers
EDIT:i'd like to see latest neopeek and spige's one, though i'll try them myself later
UPDATE: battery: it's been about 15 hours since i plugged out the charger. wifi has been turned on for about 12-13 hours,i downloaded some apps, opened a web page or two, made several calls, ran a few benchmarks, rebooted two times (one was necessary because i accidentally turned wifi off and couldn't turn it on again(the bug i mentioned),and the other wasn't caused by some bug or anything, i just needed the sd).so far so good i believe...15 hours is fine for me...i'll post when the phone dies out
UPDATE 2: battery: blackstone is dead...battery went out after exactly 16 hours, wifi was on for about 13-14hours...everything else remained pretty much as posted above
EDIT 2: is it just me,or the clock stays 10 minutes behind overnight...my alarm rang 10 minutes later than it should 2-3 times already, day after day,and the time was ok every time i checked it before going to bed...weird
EDIT 3: oh yes, i forgot occasional calls without sound, which happen just once in a while, so they're kinda acceptable, the solution is to finish the call over speakerphone or to make the call again

So many views and no reply! So I thought I'd reply and say good luck. I would like to know which Android build works best on the Blackstone so I hope you get some feedback.
thank you mister turtle-guy i was thinking that people might be willing to find out which one is "the best"...and i thought that there will be some feedback....BUT nevermind,i'm gonna take another sd and put other ports...and let you all know
cheers

could you separate the results for each one,and do linpack benchmark for each one as well, plase? and by the way what froyo x versiona re you using? 1.12.?
and did you try the trick that tiag8 did for the camera on rhodium (double kernel)...can it work with our hardware
i dont what a linpack benchmark is
i am using 1/17 version and 1/12 i just deleted Sense X (need space)

Improving battery longevity

I've had Lollipop since the intro and and at first it was fine then it started to be buggy. I decided to hard reset and the phone works better but what I miss was the stellar battery longevity. From an unplug at 7 am I'd have 45-50% by 7 pm, now that's gone. I have 13% by &pm. Keep in in mind that I have a retail version and turned off any app possible that I don't want to work ,plus used Debloater. Lastly I use Greenify .
Looking at the battery specs I see that the Exchange services are at the top . Plus I see that Nova launcher is high on therunning list. This is a new version and i wonder if it's a power eater?
Here's what's in the running list-
settings- 210mb
nova- 71mb
weather app- 24mb
ipec - 8.3mb
securitymanagerservice- 5.4mb
passpoint settings- 4.4mb
android- 5.4mb
Bluetooth- 9.7 mb, Bluetooth is off and used only when i need it but still shows in this list
google play- 52mb
contacts- 15mb
context service- 17mb
email- 43mb
exchange- 20mb
greenify- 8.8mb
samsung keyboard- 45mb, why does the keyboard have to show and it's not being used
systemui- 16mb
Thanks in advance

Well, I'm not sure why you're using the data you've provided to try to explain battery usage. The data you've provided looks like the amount of RAM the app/file occupies. The amount of RAM an app or process uses is not indicative of the amount of battery that will be consumed when that app/process is running. A much better indication of what's going on with battery consumption is data that indicates what and how much battery is being used by an app or process...like screen on time or cpu time used by an app.
If I understand you rightI think you're talking about the settings /battery area-
if so
Exchange services are at 4%
Android system- 1%
Android OS- 1%
Email- 1%

Yeah, that area gives you a better idea of what is using the battery. If you really want to analyze what is using the battery resources in your phone you need to download and run an app that is designed to monitor your system and report what is using battery resources, how much and when. There are a number of apps in the Play Store that will do that. Many of them are free, but the better ones will cost you a dollar or two. But, if you're really interested in finding out what is "eating" your battery resources it may be well worth a dollar or two.
Here's list of the most common battery hogs: Facebook, live wallpaper, apps that sync data or other information every minute or two, screen on time-how often are you looking at the display and for how long, streaming video and music, gps, wifi, nfc and bluetooth turned on but not needed or in use, widgets open and running but not needed or used.

Facebook, I use a browser link not the app
no Live wallpaper
apps that sync data or other information every minute or two- sounds like the emails. There doesn't seem to be a tweak anywhere for that
no streaming or music
GPS is on but didn't seem to bother before the reset
Wifi - used on demand
NFC- don't use
Bluetooth-also used on demand but is still listed as running when off
The only widget i use is my weather app- I do like it though- Weather XL
Thanks

Tips for using CM9.1 ICS today

I remember wanting to write a continuously updated guide like this back in 2016 When I was running CM9.1 on my old AT&T Fusion 2 (3.5" TFT, Snapdragon S1, and yes, this was 2016)
I tried out kitkat on the Gnexus and it was alright, slow but alright. However, I bought this phone to run ICS on and that is damn well what I plan to do!
Now first thing is first, the OLD CM9.1 (Android 4.0.4) CM link: https://web.archive.org/web/2014100...d.org:80/get/jenkins/7070/cm-9.1.0-maguro.zip
Also Gapps (old school ones too!): https://devfiles.co/download/4DW4yYPf/gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip
And now for the list of tips from me!
First of all are my display settings. What I noticed that CM9.1 has that CM11 did not was the Galaxy Nexus display tuner settings near the middle of the menus.
Display Settings I use:
My settings are as follows:
Color multipliers is set to - Dark Sett.
Color gamma is set to - CM Sett.
Color Hack Presets is set to - Nothing, when I change this is ruins my settings
With these options colors are much more punchy and dark.
Performance Settings I use:
Governor - Conservative
Min freq - Default 320Mhz
Max freq - 920Mhz
IO Scheduler- not available in stock options, it is most likely CFQ
16Bit transparency and surface dithering are off, as are memory management options. This is just my preference, but you may enjoy them on.
Kernel is the default, stock CM9.1 kernel.
Attached is the stock Galaxy Nexus rainbow wallpaper, or that one you see in all the stock photos. Can't find that blue bubble one anywhere : (
Battery usage/life:
I am a light user, by all meanings of the word. End of day my SoT rarely exceeds 30 minutes, let alone a couple hours. I rarely play games and most of what I do on my phone is text, and check the time. Sometimes I make calls and take pictures but for most things I use my Nexus 10. As of writing this my Galaxy Nexus is at 48% after me pulling it off the charger at 7AM, and right now at 5:51PM. My SoT as of now is 41 Minutes. Attached are the two screenshots confirming this.
Finally, app support. Last on the list because of length. You are going to be using apk mirror for the majority of this. Some links to old apk's that somewhat function are listed below, along with ones that are confirmed to be some how dysfunctional. As with all things, your mileage will surely vary.
List of apk links to old apps:
Instagram 7.10.x (4.0.3+ - I had issues, you might not. It loaded a bit then crashed) https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/insta...ease/instagram-7-10-0-2-android-apk-download/
Greenify 2.7.1 (4.0+ - works fine so far) https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/insta...ease/instagram-7-10-0-2-android-apk-download/
Spotify 3.2.0 (2.3+ - Crashed at start up, but seemed to work on all other devices where the latest didn't work. Also some people prefer the old spotify) https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/spoti...ease/spotify-3-2-0-1197-android-apk-download/
ES File explorer 4.0 (2.0+ - Classic ES file explorer, before they added all that new stuff that bogs it down) https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/es-gl.../es-file-explorer-4-0-0-android-apk-download/
Twitter 5.95 (4.0.3+ - Old but not ancient twitter, should run well on the Gnexus) https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/twitter-inc/twitter/twitter-5-95-0-release/
This list is meant to expand as apps are updated and people link apk's they are currently using!
I do plan on expanding this post more as I get more at home with CM9.1 and my Galaxy Nexus, and with anything anyone links or shares with me!
