Miui rom - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just flashed the Miui rom on my g2. It is bad ass! Has any one else tryed it? Miui with sense I think would be even better! I love the sense Widgets! Is there a way I can get sense Widgets on there now or do I have to wait for the rom to be rebuilt with sense? And if so is any one working on that yet?

we cant like miui and like the open source end of android phones?
(IE: you are an idiot)

i dont have the hatred for apple or its product, but muiu looked waaay too much like an iphone. But I really just couldnt get over that there was no apparent app drawer. To each their own, and I dont believe at this time any dev is working on blending sense with muiu.

Fact: MIUI's entire reason of existance is to make your android phone look like an iphone.

sooooo making an graphic user interface look like something else means you should go out and get that something else even though the functionality is entirely different?
Pardon me but do all of the other device threads have as many jack asses as the G2/Dz threads?

Check the Vibrant forums. You'll be happy you have the G2.
And in response to the post, I haven't tried MIUI myself, but I have a friend who absolutely loves it. I like having Cyanogen just because it looks stock. I've been using the Android OS since version 1.0 with the G1, and I've grown comfortable with the layout.

so ive been holding off on switching to sprint, all because i want an evo but i hate hate sense!! has no one made a stock froyo rom yet? is it not possible? or a rom with no sense in it? like not just some stuff taken out i mean completely sense free!?!?
All of the Froyo ROMs that first surfaced were AOSP I believe. There are plenty to choose from.

You can just turn off sense and use a normal android interface.

No, you can disable the Sense home launcher. You can't fully disable Sense by any stretch of the imagination without an AOSP ROM.

i believe it's still going to be rc1, so not everything is going to be working (wimax and hdmi come to mind right now).
but yes, still more than likely to be more polished than sense.
yea i saw the one rom looked pretty proising(except said there were still some issues here and there with it) i was hoping for a pretty much final build all done and good to go! oh well i can wait a bit longer i have a nexus one now so no big rush!

AOSP means Android Open Source Project
AOSP roms have Android that isn't molested by anyone else besides Google. No fluff added.

Im done with this forum to many idiots around here

downloading to give it a shot now looks very cool!
Thanks , i will give it a try .
this is very good news!
newt you rock man!
Do parts in this ROM help you out for the 2.1/3.0 mix you released a couple days ago?
Being a fan of sense 3.0 this will be cool to give a run and see how it compares to the modded 3.0 roms
Thanks for porting this Newt!
Being 2.3.5 nothing is interchangeable with older versions... So I will have to wait for official from HTC to make a full ROM.... Can't mix it with anything else

Thanks Newt!!
Yeah I've gotta get home so I can try this thing has me excited. I think it'd pretty much negate the need for pyramid and such tho, not that its a bad thing.
So how is HTC accomplishing this? In a similar fashion to our hacks for sense 3 or a complete overhaul altogether?
And anyone running, which apks aren't there?

so does this mean we could actually see an official version of sense 3.0 down the road for inc2?

I would imagine since HTC has their own source to work with, its not too difficult to build scaled versions of it/versions made specifically for the phone. I was hoping since HTC did it with the Desire that they may make one for the Dinc2 itself.... but that may not happen. We can dream though This Rom will definitely be the next best thing to an official HTC release. Keep on with the great work Newt!

I was thinking the same thing. I don't see why not. Droid incredible has as good if not better hardware.
Of course I also wonder what sense is going to turn into once ice cream sandwich comes. Since ice cream sandwich will have a lot of the things that sense has inherently (ability for scrolling widgets, etc.)
Just makes me kinda sad. That HTC was all "you'll never see sense 3 on this phone" and the devs put that much effort on just for HTC to change up LOL.

Tried this rom out to compare to the other 3.0 roms that are available to us...
I like what I have seen so far. It does seem pretty responsive, and I had no FC's.
Besides the issues already mentioned above, I found that the included SU binary on the sd card doesn't work (when trying to flash through recovery, it say's "Bad")
Couldn't get SU to work, which isn't a big deal considering what this rom is.
Thanks for posting this Newt I'm looking forward to you having the official rom to work with

[Q] Sense ROM on SGS2(Epic Touch 4G)

Is there a ROM for the SGS2(Epic Touch 4G) with Sense? Is that even possible? I have yet to flash a ROM on any of my rooted devices and curious if there is a ROM with Sense so I can flash it on my SGS2.
There are not currently any Sense roms. In theory its possible but I don't know of anyone working on one for our phone.
You can get close with certain apps on the market.
Honestly, I like Touchwiz better in every way except for the launcher.

I honestly think it's worthwhile to release it. More options is always better than less.

Oddly enough, I was wondering this exact same question as I have always wanted to try out Sense. I kind of figured there wouldn't be though. :/
Not trying to troll but just curious, if you want HTC sense why wouldn't you just buy an HTC phone? IMO sense sux, yea has a nice look but bogged down my past 2 HTC devices. I'll take performance over looks any day.

I've actually wondered this myself, why no one ever ports sense roms to other phones. I understand why many would not want that, but there are those who would. Is it a technical issue that prevents this? Like some sort of kernel or framework thing that prevents Sense from working on non-HTC phones.

you answered your own question lol.
It's not a simple port. It's pretty much the same reasons why cm9 AOSP AOKP isn't fully functonal.
it takes a lot of work to get bits and pieces to start working. Most Developers want clean slate ROMs that's where CM9 AOSP and AOKP comes in.
Unfortunately/fortunately for us, there isn't a developer in the t989 forum that likes sense enough to put their time and effort into porting... more like building... sense for our phone. They also don't want to risk bricking their phone.

[Q] Sense 2.1 or...

Hey all Recently i tried all kind of roms for wildfire buz and came to a conclusion that sense roms works best (for me), currently im using kwbr rom and periodically switch to other roms to try
I tried KoolSense and was amazed how it looks especially some features like hibernating and other customization options... Also, i can live without gps, bluetooth but without led/flash umm no. (because i walk everyday through forest for an hour and it is kinda dark you know)
I forgot to try to get flashlight with other apps on that rom, so if anyone using it share results
Because i see no development in that newer sense for our wildfire, would be nice if someone know is it possible to get at least newer sense launcher? Or someone will fix bugs and make super cool update sense rom for our wildfire I mean if there is enough time to port all other roms like ics, miui etc. why that ˝newer˝ sense rom can not be developed? would be refreshing, just saying.
After all sense look, looks great on wildfire (After you get bored with all others ofcourse, you stick to your roots lol) :fingers-crossed:
sry if not posted in right place...
I really love the look and feel of sense too but it isn't open source so you have to build the most things yourself and that's very hard for "freetime" devs. That's why there are so many bugs on sense gingerbread Roms and each Dev gave it up to port this kind of Roms to our device
Also a new sense 2.1 launcher for froyo isn't possible because it needs it's own gingerbread based framework.
I really understand your way of thinking and it would be just great to see a gingerbread sense room fully working on the Willy. May any Dev finds still interest of porting something like that to our old wildfire
Tapped from my beast the Nexus 4
Thanks for your reply. Did not know that thing about framework and completely forgot that sense is developed by HTC corporation.
Your answer made point.
Anyway, speed over looks i guess...
