Different camera - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I copied the htccamera.apk from one of the sense roms and put it on the root of my sdcard.
Can anyone tell me how to install it. I use astro and it doesn't let me do it. It just says did not install.

Oh. And I'm running cm 6.1.1

I have read that you cant have sense apps on a non sense rom, different framework.

That's a shame. The only thing I like about sense is that camera.

Stock Android Launcher

Is there somebody that can make this apk from the simulator so I can install it over my HTC launcher.apk trought adb so I can disable HTC Sence and delete it afterwards in adb.
Or isin't my dream reality?

So you want Launcher2? Don't quite understand what you want or don't want. But if you want the FroYo Launcher2 or a modded Eclair version then this is a jackpot.

Default launcher on DZ

I was wondering if it's possible rockt get the default android launcher on my DZ? I've already tried launcher pro and ADW and while both of them are pretty neat I'd like to at least have the option to use and test it for comparison...

Cool, thx!
Do I have to root my phone for this? Well, to move the launcher to system obviously, but for using the launcher itself I don't, do I?
you shouldnt have to

I've tried to install the launcher using the app manager I got the simple message telling me "application not install" (something like that, I translated from German).
Is this a sign of a corrupted app or that I have to root my device or is this non-compatible with 2.2.1?

you have to follow this instructions http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9306925&postcount=552
your goin to have to be rooted to do this :/

I'll have to downgrade my DZ before I can root, so I'll need to look into backup options first.
Thanks for your help guys!

By the way, I did downgrade my phone, installed CM6.1.1 and I'm very happy with the default launcher now
I really don't see the advantages of adw over default launcher...

Crazy question?

Is there a donut rom out there for the G2? I'm feeling nostalgic.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Nope no donut rom

You could always find the icons and wallpaper to make a ROM 'look' like it. Of course some things won't look the same still.
Maybe you could port it for us

Stock apps on custom ROM

I've tried several different ROMs on my WFS since I rooted it a couple months ago but there are a few apps like the camera and browser that are never as stable ad the stock ones and I can't find anyplace to get them. Is there anyway to get the stock apps and put them in a custom ROM? If someone could put the camera, browser, and calendar apps in a flashable zip that would be awesome!

Stock stuff requires sense framework to run so there is no way it'd run on a senseless rom ex cm, miui, aokp etc.

Oh, that really sucks. You know any good apps that actually work on this phone? Opera is the only browser I've found that will scroll through pics right but it closes all the time and I'd really like to have some control of the cameras focus.

CM 10.1 messaging on Sense?

Hi, I was just wondering if there is any chance to get CM10.1 messaging working on a sense rom? Don't really like the HTC messaging app, and haven't found anything nearly as good as the cm messaging app on play store.
Thanks!

Extract the .apk from a CM based ROM and place it in /system/app/.
It should work after a reboot.

Nope, the app just force closes.

Sorry, I think that is the only way. You're stuck with the old messaging mate.
