I did do a search and didn't find anything about this. Some of my letters on the on screen keyboard on my evo dont work. Like the letter C and R and but when i do landscape they work but 1 or 2 others don't. it's not cause of the screen i dont think cause i can touch the same spot on the screen for an icon and it works.. I am new to android so i was not sure but i know the phone was already rooted and flashed before i bought it , it has Myn’s Warm TwoPointTwo - [RLS 5 - 01/07/2011] i did reflash it with that and a diffrent one but still the same thing. Any idea's?? thank you

Try downloading another keyboard from the market and see if you run into the same problem. Try smart keyboard ... they have a free one and you can do that for testing purposes. If the new keyboard works you might try flashing a different rom.

Well i did install it and same thing but i did mark the spot better and went to another screen page and when i pressed that spot nothing could not do a shortcut and when i went to the calender the day that matched up to the spot i could not select it .. For all 3 or 4 spots. Strange that no cracks or anything and that mant spots on the screen messed up.

ahhh that sucks you got some dead spots. Time to flash the stock rom back on and take it in for a screen replacement.

Ok i called sprint and even though i am not the oringnal owner , as long as it is brought back to stock its a $35 dollar charge . ok now ill have to get it un rooted and flashed back to stock. Not sure if i will atempet it but will see . guys by the house do it for $20 so might be safe to have it done by them.. ok sounds like a plan. thanks again and have a good one

My phone's display seems to be sliding downwards.. The bottom most part of the screen is slowly showing up on the top.. Seems like its sliding down and going round to the top .. Any ideas why is this so.. is it something to be worried about... or can it be easily fixed..

what rom you have?
do you drop your phone a lot? i dropped my home phone like 5 times and the LCD screen on it is going down on it, i way just have to install a new rom.

i was just making sure it was not the rom he had installed, sorry if you thought i was talking about redoing the rom and that would fix it but their is no way a rom could fix that he prolly dropped his phone 1 to many times
Yeah, i have dropped it a number of times.. but never it happened like this. this has been happening since a week now.. I have WM6 Premuim V2 by Dutty.. Its been on my phone since almost a year now.. Recently I had installed WM6.1 S64 Lite.. But that was very unstable and slowed the phone down.. So now I am back on WM6 Premuim V2 by Dutty..

You should DL the htc maintenance manual and try reconnecting the lcd cables. I had whitescreen issues and bottom of screen jumping t top so I bit the bullet and opened hermes up. was considerably easier than expected ( though do yourself a fovour and get the torque set (torque 6) ) and had it pulled apart then put back together in less than an hour. there is a lot of unneeded dissassembly in the maintenance manual (just take apart whats needed) but read thoroughly and do step by step and you should have no problem. Hope this helps you out...cheers....

Yep.. it was the issue with LCD.. also my screen would go fully white and nothing would happen after that.. That happens everytime I slide it.. It is found that the slide strip is the issue.. so that has to be replaced for it to solve..

the weirdest thing is up with my phone.. it takes a while to boot up and my touchscreen dont work, my trackpad dont work, but i can click it. it always takes me to the new setup screen with the themes and all that.. i think it might be missing files because its not rooted..
can somebody please help me? ive tried everything and searched everywhere, but its not working.. some help will really be appreciated,, this phones still fresh with the factory protector on it in goood shape.
also, when it boots up with memory card, it says "Sorry! Process system is not responding. Force close Wait ",,
i can also move around using the tab to move, but down to the left,, and if i click the trackpad or enter, it "clicks" it...

Sounds like hardware issues (maybe with the ribbon cable from the top screen to the bottom keyboard).
Call tmobile and get it replaced, it's still under warranty (unless your water stickers are pink).

It could be that, or it could be a simple software issue. He could try rooting the phone and flashing cm6 or cr_mod or something, it could be system file corruption, but I guess if he's unrooted and under warranty why not just get it replaced, it'd be less work

Doubtful since you didn't buy the phone from them. If you want to remain stock, I would root and then flash the slide stock nandroid backup (there's a thread with the file, just type that in the search bar). That *should* fix it if it's a software issue.
*After flashing the stock nandroid backup you'll be unrooted again. It will be like it was the first time it was booted.
Everytime i slide the keyboard open to type a message on my mts and slide it back when im done the screen (im not sure how to describe it but ill do my best) switches positions but responds as if everything was normal. For example the menu at the top that you pull down will be in the middle of the screen and the bottom will be at the top.
Does anyone have a solution? I can post pictures if needed, but it would be difficult at the moment.

Sounds like software, what rom are you using? It could be hardware, but sounds like software. Pics would be nice. In the meantime, try wiping and reflashing your current rom.

I think i kno exactly what ur talking about. (click here) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=849722 This has happened to me and many other people. Im pretty sure the problem is with your flex cable. The best thing to do is get a warrantry exchange
Yea I've tried reflashing new roms or restoring and niether worked! I read through the thread you posted and that seems exactly what is happening to me. Did they make you pay for the warranty replacement or was it covered? If they made you pay ill prolly just hold out and get a new phone this summer.

No it was covered by 1 year factory warranty. If i were you though, id unroot the phone asap then get your replacement. If you dont, your screen will eventually go black like mines did and you won't be able to unroot (though they did accept it because they didnt know it was rooted because the screen was totally black)
yeah, I have the same issue and I'm exchanging the phone soon.. however, I'm worried because my screen randomly works and I'm concerned that T-mo will see that I've rooted if the display randomly functions upon arrival. Does anyone know how to do a factory nandroid flash (I have the original file taken from falken98) without using the screen for too long? I know that clockwork might require actual user input on the phone side, so I was wondering if anybody could point me to a method that would require only the computer. What I'll try to do is set the phone to mount USB and do everything via AndroidSDK, hopefully the phone will randomly function for just enough time to allow me to do that

I followed his exact steps but it didn't work at all. I got to the part where i installed the driver, i ran the unrevoked program and it failed to root my phone. i unplugged my phone then it started going all haywire and pushing stuff on its own, the 4 bottom buttons weren't working either when the keyboard pops up, whenever i try to type "o" "L" or "m" it presses all the buttons surrounding it besides the one i'm actually trying to press. Do u have a recovery installed? I would suggest using RA then use the format all zip to completely erase your phone and flash a rom again and see what you get.

What happens if you clean your screen really well? Mine only pushes random buttons if it gets a drizzle of water on it or something.
the screen is really clean and it still does it. The screen does all sorts of loopy stuff. like itll zoom out like your pinching it then zoom back in. slide around from screen to screen. I flashed a new rom on there once again and its still doing it. I tried a whole bunch of the supersonic shipped roms but none of them would work. Is this phone done for good? ='(

Well I can recommend a few things..
1. Backup, do a complete wipe, reflash the rom
2. Try a different kernel.
3. Downgrade to PRI&NV 1.77.
the problem is your touch screen is going bad, not the root and the root didnt cause it. take it to the store, they will a replacement screen in stock.

Exactly. I had the same problem, just unroot, make sure you have s-on, get rid of anything root related on your sd card (ie soff.log), and take it in

I managed to wear a rough spot on the screen from using Swype. Apparently I text very violently and a lot. The screen looks fine but if you run your finger along it you can feel where the keyboard pops up in portrait mode is rough, and if you clean it, the cleaning solution beads around that area. I bought an invisishield screen protector and that seemed to solve my problem, which sounds the same as what your experiencing. Going to the store and getting it fixed is probably a better option, I've just had to fight with Sprint in the store on what they considered "physical damage" on my last phone, and the screen protector seemed like a easier solution for the time being.

i have a weird(for me atleast) issue, full screen touch is working ok except the bottom Home Menu Back Search button touch
sometime it suddenly started working and again stopped. i do a factory reset and it was working fine like for 15 days and yesterday it was connected to PC for charging and when i pull it from Pc the bottom 4 buttons wasnt working.
was using SuperCharge Option of mobogenie .... dont know if its the issue or what ..
now thing is i give it to a repair shop and they check and found nothing so they are like we need to change the sensor. any help ....

If you are rooted.
Try flashing a new rom or else, flash you rom once again.
When, rooted after you change anyther in /system, even a factory reset would not help.

i am rooted and was using Curvis 2.1, then i changed to insertcoin and now changed back to stock RUU
no luck :/
is it digitizer or LCD if its a hardware issue ....

sounds more like digitzer. You can buy the parts on ebay and there is a very good youtube video to follow. I replaced the LCD on my G2 and it took 1.5hrs (youtube video was ~30min).
Thanks bradley_e_smith, and when i was reading the email about your comment all 4 buttons started working and i installed "LockScreen Free" so all the important apps could be on lock screen for easy access and after installing and setting up lock screen button was dead again
so for time being till i replace digitizer all good
