[Q] Loop on Cyanogen logo (blue) after CM 6.1.1 update - Desire General

Hello
I have a HTC Desire (gsm).
Already rooted, with Cyanomod Gen 6.0.1
I upgrade using Rom Manager application, to CM 6.1.1 + Google Apps.
Download CM 6.1.1 and install seem normal.
But after reboot, when the HTC white screen change to Cyanogen Blue logo, after some time the blue logo start again
Impossible to boot ! My HTC Desire loops on CM logo...
I remove battery, try to reboot on recovery (holding the "down" key when Power on).
I have the menu.
When I select "recovery", after some second, the screen go black with a HTC picture and a /!\ RED !
It seem I'm blocked.
How to put a rom on SD-card, and reboot to install this Rom ?
I download CM 6.1.1, try to put it as "updade.zip" on the SD-card, but I don't know how to install it ...
Thanks for your help.

You need to get a custom recovery. You can use either ClockworkMod or Amon. You need to flash it through fastboot (I think) or you can do it through recovery. Command is something like
Code:
fastboot flash recovery filename.img
I am not sure though so you might want to check it out on here.
Once you have the custom recovery, boot into it and then you can navigate through the menu's. You can mount your SD card as USB so then you can transfer the rom across, then just install the rom by going to choose zip from SD card (or something like that).
**EDIT**
Comes to my attention that to flash via fastboot you need to be S-Off to do this.

The update.zip is your fake flash recovery image so you probably removed it. Get the CWM (same version as you were using) update.zip and put it back on the root of the sd. Next time don't rename anything to updated.zip, just keep the file name and use "install zip from sd".

Does the recovery-clockwork-3.0.0.5-bravo.img is compatible with the HTC Desire (not HTC Bravo) ?
I simply copy this recovery-clockwork-3.0.0.5-bravo.img to the root of the SD-Card (from my Ubuntu PC with a micro-SD usb reader) ?
I have the Android SDK on my Ubuntu PC, but not the "fastboot" utility
(not in /android-sdk-linux_86/tools and not in /android-sdk-linux_86/platform-tools)

What is "S-Off" ?
Ok, I find the explication : S-Off = partition signed off ...
Probably I'm NOT S-Off, because I never read about it before.
Do I need the fastboot utility ?
I read several pages, but all use different methodes...
Thanks,
Didier

Manually upgrade from SD, but always loop on CM logo
Hello,
I don't know what I can do ...
So, I explain exactly my problem :
- CM 6.0.1, update to 6.1.1 seem to failed : loop on Blue CM logo
What I can do now on my HTC Desire :
Boot with the "Volume down key" : I have access to the menu :
BRAVO PVT1 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.80.0000
MICROP-031d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
RADIO-5.10.05.17.2
Mar 29 2010
HBOOT USB PLUB (this change when I plug or unplug USB)
...
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
CLEAR STORAGE (I try to clear storage, but doesn't solve the problem)
SIMLOCK
----------------------------------
I can go in Fastbook menu :
...
FASTBOOT USB (change when I plug USB)
...
BOOTLOADER
Reboot
etc ...
------------------------------------
When I go in the Bootloader menu, after some secondes, I see messages (fast, difficult to read)
No Image !
Loading [...]
No image or wrong image
------------------------------------
Do I need to copy an image file to my SD-Card ?
Which file ? A CM 6.1.1 file or a ClockworkMod Recovery img ?
------------------------------------
Do I need to use "Fastboot USB" ?
How ?
I don't have the "fastboot" utility in my sdk on my Ubuntu PC.
------------------------------------
It's probably not difficult to solve... but of course I not know how
Thanks for your help.
==================
Oh, ok ! I find (remember) that when I have the black screen with the /!\ Red, I can access to the Recovery menu with the "Volume UP key" and "Power" (not down key)
I try :
- erease Date : not solved
- erease Cache : not solved
So I try to manually install CM 6.1.1 :
- I copy the CM 6.1.1 zip file to the SC-Card
- rename to update.zip
- reboot the HTC Desire in recovery
Installation of Cyanogen MOD 6.1.1 seem ok :
...
Installing update...
Welcome to CyanogenMod-6.1.1-Desire !
Install from sdcard complete.
- Reboot
arghh.. NOOOO ...
Always LOOP on the cyanogen(mod) blue animated logo
I hope you have some ideas to help me.
Thanks
Didier

Solved
I flash again and again ...
I succeed to flash CM 6.0.1, and it works... (my Desire was in 6.0.1)
but not 6.1.1
So, I thing it must be some data corrupt, or not compatible with CM 6.1.1
So :
I copy again the CM 6.1.1 update.zip on the SDcard
I reboot again in recovery (2)
I flash update.zip
before reboot, I erease data and cache partition
And ok, it works... but no Google Apps... but my HTC Desire boot again.

[Q] Missing boot menu item

I installed HTC Sync then, unistalled (keeping the drivers).
I installed the HBOOT modified drivers in device manager. it now says:
"Android device"
|
"My HTC"
I ran unrevoked3, successful, done. I did one click only and let it run.
I then downloaded Wildpuzzle 2.2 froyo (kept it zipped copied it to SDcard).
I powered down phone then pressed volDown and power together to go to boot menu.
my boot menu looks different to that of a video I saw:
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
CLEAR STORAGE
SIMLOCK
shouldn't it look like this?:
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
CLEAR STORAGE
SIMLOCK
HBOOT USB
note- it doesn't make a difference if my wildfire is plugged in to the pc, or if I'm running unrevoked at this point.
I wait for the update scan check thing, then I go down one to RECOVERY (If I'm running unrevoked at this point communication is lost) this takes me to ClockworkMod Recovery v (black screen, green text).
I choose "-wipe data/factory re" then "-install zip from sdc" choose my zip blaa blaa...
I see the install bar and it does it in a second, completed.
- reboot system now
I wait till phone is ready (have a sandwich very nice)
check menu/settings/about phone/software information.... still says:
Firmware version
2.1-update 1
Ahhhhhhhhh
I keep trying for three days different roms, typing here is last resort by papa roach!
HOW . DO . THIS . ?
edit your post and add a title.. please be more observant..
I hope you are not selecting the update.zip under the sdcard which might be the clockworkmod recovery image (rom manager based recovery installation keeps it there). Since clockworkmod recovery has that as an option above the zip file selection, it is a possibility (especially based on the sped of the update)

[Q] Stuck in bootloop after crash sd card please help

I really hope someone can help me. I can not use my HTC Desire anymore.
I am using Cyanogenmod for a long time and really like it. The version I am on no is the 7.1 RC 1 mod.
This morning my phone said my sd card was damaged. It was, I had to format it in windows and the SD is empty now.
The problem I now have is a boot loop when I turn my phone on. With or without the sd card installed.
I think I have to wipe my phone but how can I do this, or how can I restore a complete new Cyanogenmod install?
I have an empty SD Card now.
Thanks very much for any support!
John
Extra info
Hi,
I have put the update-cm-7.0.3-Desire-signed op on the SD Card, When I enter bootlader I see the following:
Bravo PVT1 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.80.0000
MICROP-031d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNTH0101
RADIO-5.11.05.27
Mar 29 2010,21:34:33
HBOOT
<VOL UP> to previous menu
<VOL DOWN> to next item
<POWER> to select item
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY (green)
CLEAR STORAGE
SIMLOCK
Now I choose recovery and get a red triange. No wipe option availble.
Looks like my clockwork mod has been gone?
I haev found somewhere I can downloaded the cyanogenmod zip file and rename it to PD98IMG.zip. When I go into the bootloader I will be asked to flash it.
This is not working it looks likes the bootloader looks for another PD***.zip file?
Renamed to PB99IMG.zip
Renamed it to PB99IMG.zip. It is loading, Checking and I am back in the HBOOT menu. No question if I want to flash it. Now what?
I am stuck now
What recovery do you have?
Also, do you have root access?
It was rooted and had clockwork.
But it looks lilke clockwork boot disappeared.
I will use RUU to back to stock rom and root again after that.
Thanks for all support!
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
reflash your recovery and restore your backup - which I hope you didn't lose
Edit -
Actually just read your post - you have an empty sd did you make a pc backup of your nandroid?
Android sometimes says the sd-card is damaged, doesn't mean that's the case. A lot of the time rebooting the phone once or twice, or booting without the sd-card, then with, fixes the problem.
when you boot into recovery and get the android triangle thingy try:
First pace the recovery image in your sdcard root and rename it to recovery (so the full name will now be recovery.img), then reboot into recovery and plug in via usb.
adb shell
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img (wait till this# sign shows up again before you type the next command)
reboot recovery
if that doesn't work, then it's a longshot since I haven't done it before but you can always try
reboot into recovery, press VOLUME UP and POWER at the same time, which gets you the stock recovery.. AFAIK I think you still can flash images from there, so if you got a recovery.zip and renamed it to "update.zip" and stuck it in the root of your sd-card, and chose the flash "update.zip" in recovery mode, that *should* fakeflash recovery and you'd be able to flash a ROM, and that should fix it for you.. if that doesn't work then use a RUU, and after you done that S-OFF so you can get yourself out of these situations easier!
I have done a RUU. My phone is now stock again.
What is the best way to continue from this point?
How do I make my HTC Desire S_OFF?

[Q] I really need help now with HBoot

I used this tutorial to root my HTC Desire:
http://techspalace.blogspot.com/2011/10/perm-root-htc-desire-gingerbread-233.html
Then I was using it for half a year and few days ago I downloaded LeeDroid 3.3.3 data ++ and successfully installed it but I had only 120mb free internal memory for apps with it. I was googlin a lot and i realized that Im using wrong HBoot (im newbie in that stuff). Then I found this tutorial how to flash cm7r2 hboot on desire (its required for leedroid ROM)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1223856
I followed the steps, downloaded http://alpharev.nl/PB99IMG_cm7r2.zip then I copied it to my SD card and renamed it to PB99IMG and rebooted my phone. It asked me if i want to update, i chose yes but then i rebooted and got stuck at HTC logo and white screen.
So I tried to restore my previous ROM via ClockworkMod Recovery 5.0.2.0 but still Im stuck at HTC logo
(after restoring it says:
Restore complete!
E: Error in /cache/recovery/log
(No space left on device)
E: Error in /cache/recovery/last_log
(No space left on device)
Im not really skilled in all these things, can someone pls give me an advice how to get back on Revolutionary hboot and my old ROM or how to get this Alpharev cm7r2 bootloader working?
EDIT: Now i managed to install leedroid from sd again, but there was force closes of everything so I did factory reset and now I pass HTC logo but Im stuck at glowing "ANDROID" logo..... really need help
I think that if I would manage to get "revolutionary" back instead of "Alpharev cm7 r2" at bootloader, my old ROM backup would work.... but i dont know how to get "Revolutionary" bootloader back !
Hi,
you might want to try the following:
Download fastboot commander from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193915
Download the desired HBOOT from http://alpharev.nl/
Select the HBOOT that matches the ROM you want to install
Start the fastboot program, plug in your phone with USB (powered off) and start the phone in BOOTLOADER modus (VOLUME-DOWN + POWER)
there is an option fastboot, press it. You're now able to flash your HBOOT with fast commander.
Unzip the bravo_xxxx.zip so you get an xxx.img file. load this file in Fastboot->[TAB]Hboot, Radio & Rec->Hboot and press Flash Hboot. Wait for an OK.
Exit fastboot and go to recovery. Search for USB Mount (mount your SD-CARD to the USB) and search this SD-CARD in Windows Explorer. Copy the ROM in zip format you want to install on your SD-CARD and unmount.
Now select the option install from SD and select the zip file. Let it run and reboot.
(If you selected a rom which needs an EXT2 EXT3 or EXT4 partition, then partition this first, this is also possible in the recovery menu).
Hope this helps...

Try follow these steps
1) Choose one ROM for the one X (ex. IceColdJellly) and download it to your PC
2) Extract boot.img from the zip you've donloaded and move it to the same folder of fastboot
3) In your phone go to fastboot usb (press power + vol down until you see fastboot usb)
4) Conect your phone to PC
5) Flash boot image
6) Choose recovery
7) Choose mount usb
8) Copy the ROM to your SD card
9) Unmount usb
10) Flash ROM
11) Reboot system
You should be good to go.
Attention there is no GAPPS flashed, for that you need to download latest GAPPS and copy them to Sd card and flash them.
Good luck

[Q] Can´t flash recovery - only black screen

Hi guys,
I´m pretty lost here. Up until a few days ago i was a happy Cyanogenmod user, for my HTC Desire (GSM). Suddenly it crashed and could not boot anymore.
I managed to put a RUU (i think it is) on my sd card and renamed it to PB99IMG.zip. Booting to Hboot, it detects the file and flashed the system with HTC Android 2.2, with Sense. This installation works fine, but i want Cyanogenmod again. (i´m currently traveling with very slow internet connections and i cant remember where i got the file).
Now i would like to flash it again with Cyanogenmod 7. I have the zip for that also on my SD card. When I entered recovery from the Hboot menu, it just showed the default recovery, asking for update.zip. I figured i should have a custom recovery, so I tried to flash the recovery.
I´ve tried multiple recovery images and methods;
Using Revolutionary, which detected S-OFF and asked to download CWM
Using ´fastboot flash recovery recovery.img´
Using 4EXT recovery zip and placed it on the sd card as PB99IMG.zip
For the fastboot commandline method i have tried Clockworkmod 2.5.0.7 and the latest version (both default and touch), Amon_RA and 4EXT. Combined with a few ´fastboot erase cache´ and ´fastboot erase recovery´. With every method I get only success messages. When I Hboot the phone and choose recovery from the menu, it restarts, showing the white screen with green HTC letters, and direct after that only a black/blank screen. Pressing any button does not change it.
My Hboot info:

I really have no idea anymore what i could do to get Clockworkmod or any custom recovery image working.
What options have i got left?
try http://4ext.net/, download the app and it will flash 4ext recovery for you.
as strange as it sounds, also uninstall rom manager if you have it.
finally, to get the most out of cyanogen mod, you need to flash a different hboot, cm7r2 is probably best. this will repartition your nand layout to get more internal memory. flash the img via command line through fastboot.
then backup your sd, then partition it with 4ext recovery. you'll need an a2sd script, or an app like s2e to move apps to the partition automatically.
