I can't (for the life of me) figure this out - Continuum Android Development

I miss the Eris and its One-click-eris-root-app. There's nothing like that for the continuum.
Could someone post a step-by-step guide to getting rooted, clockworked, and ROM'd? I'm sure if it's made into a coherent thread, it'll likely get stickied.

I'm gonna do the video tutorial first, I am in the process of getting back to as close as stock as I can.
Edit: This may take a while, I'm disabling voodoo just to be safe before I apply my nandroid.

Have you tried the "One Click Root & Busybox Installer for the Samsung Continuum v 0.1" on this forum from bubby323 that worked for me.

I'm now on the Incredible, so it doesn't matter. I think I'm gonna keep this one stock. My root experience with the Continuum scared me away from tinkering with my phone, as it ended up bricked twice.

There goes another member... And I even went ahead and made the freaking tutorial too....

Hey, I'm following the thread and I'm very intersted in rooting my Continuum. I've just started reading these threads last month when I got my phone.
I'm completely new to all of this, so setup your tutorial and video away.

If people are leaving the Continuum, I may be interested in one if the price is right

seriously if your coming from an eris and the looking for a one click root im going to have to recommend you just stop there

Has anyone tried the CyanogenMod for the EVO?

I was thinking about installing this mod. I saw it running very smoothly on an HD2 dual-boot a friend of mine has.
Is there anyone running the latest version of this image? If so are there any hardware issues? Does the 4G still work? Does it make coffee now?
Thanks,
Nick
I don't think you'll have much luck here. I don't think anyone around here is running cm on their EVO's. Is he even working on a version for the EVO?

It's okay, just do the 2.2 OTA and then root from there. I think it's pretty painless, I know there's a thread about it somewhere . . . can't find it right now.

Thanks Laydros,
My friend just told me that his HD2 just went to sleep and he had to reboot so it is surely not stable yet on the HD2. I would still be willing to try it on my EVO if anyone else has tried it first.
The UI looks pretty nice with a draggable menu at the bottom for multiple home row buttons.

i think what you have to do is flash a 2.2 rom, and while its installing, yank the battery. this will take you to the froyo debug screen and ask if you want to flash a cyanogen mod.
edit: ok that was a joke, I have to say that because I know there are people that will try it! sorry...

So explain to me how my question was stupid? I got a response from you apparently. Do you make a habit of flexing your intelligence on "stupid" postings?
This could very well make you a stupid person.
Read! Have you even looked at any posts at all here? Or did you just post your question and only focus on it? Seriously man, you are getting bashed here sooooo bad. Take ten seconds and look at other posts, either here in q and a or in the development section. Just trying to save you some pain.

Thanks, I spent five minutes searching. What did you find before you advised me to "READ!" and search?
Don't advise me to search unless you know for sure that I missed something. Your guessing there is a better thread and calling me stupid for not finding it.
Again, has anyone successfully gotten this mod on their EVO? If there is another thread talking about Cyanogen Mod 6 on EVO then direct me.
Dude, there's a thread in development dedicated to the RC with thousands of replies. I think we can all safely say that at least one other person has tried it. The water is safe. Hop in, but don't forget your life jacket. I'm sure you'll need it.
And before you complain that we're not helpful... no, the 4G doesn't work. Your mms may not work either.

[SCRIPT] [NS4G] [UPDATED] One Click Return to stock V2.0

The title says it all. The only prerequisite is that you already have the drivers for your phone installed. Which i assume most people looking at this thread do as they were needed to get root in the first place.
Always back up your stuff and any apps before using.
Features:
Restores back to stock 2.3.4
Relocks Bootloader
Removes root
Fixed:
1. Now it will not run when gsm users try to use it.
2. Runs alot smoother thanks to Indirect.
Download this zip.
Extract it
Click on run.bat
and follow the onscreen instructions
now your phone should be back to 100% stock
Thanks to pete for the img files
Thanks to Indirect for the fixing problems with gsm users using this.
so this will unroot, relock, and put stock recovery back on?
Yes it returns it to the same way it was when it came out of the box. So be sure to back up any data on your internal memory you want to keep.
sweet, thanks to you and pete

You and me both. I just learned earlier this week that fastboot and adb were drivers that come with sdk. It is confusing without a literal step by step guide. I would like to learn all the processes and make a guide for total beginners. Unless anyone else knows of one already in existence for the NS4G?
I must admit, though, that the more threads I read the more confident I get about following through with it. All of you devs and themers and advanced users, I tip my hat to your knowledge and helpfulness with threads like these.

thanks for this. I wanted to return to stock for the update and did it the long way, because i don't think this was posted yet. I think anyone that is rooting their phone should at least learn how to use sdk and the commands. Im glad I had to force my self to do it that way, but this will really help for the next time with one click root and now unroot its great. I had to root again because it was delayed and cant stand stock
No problem and yes the long way is beneficial from a learning standpoint. But i prefer quick and easy and anyone who wants to learn the long way just open the run.bat file in notepad and teach yourself

Some think this is a lazy way, but some of us have to find work arounds for stuff like this. all i remember is using a program that ran on my computer to unlock it.
heck even the first time i rooted my evo i noobed it up. but now im more into it than before. You will become a flash-aholic
And there are so many great roms, themes and mods out now...you can flash all day for a week and still not see everything.

You don't just "take a rom off". If you wipe the rom, your phone wont boot to anything. But you can easily just flash another rom, or restore your previous backup.
GOOD site for most roms on one page!!
http://evo4g.roms-db.com/all-builds/
Ran across the above site in research, used a rom off of it pretty cool plus anything tie into XDA im for it!! Thanks
Flash-a-holics (not to be mistaken with streakers lol) is a known issue affecting men and women here in XDA. This is an incurable addiction. Common symptoms include:
Anxiety (don't believe me? Try flashing a radio update lol)
Stress (not knowing what to do when your phone boots and is stuck at the HTC EVO 4G screen lol)
Nagging from the wife (cuz you spend more time tweaking your phone instead of helping around taking care of the baby)
In EXTREME cases, hypothetically speaking, if your house was on fire and you had a chance to retrieve one of the following items:
1) wedding album
2) expensive art piece
...you would write in:
3) my precious Evo lol

He wasn't trying to be a jerk. The best thing you can do is research read and search some more, and do it all over again. There are plenty of ppl here that will help. First off it is really hard to mess up your phone to the point of not being able to fix it. Most important now that you are rooted is to make a nandroid backup it will save you phone. I found one sometime ago (don't have link so don't ask) so I will try to make a zip or at least upload the file needed, I'm not home at the moment but if I get it accomplished I will most likely post in the DEV section.

i actually did, looked everywhere i know, and nothing. but thanks in advance for your help.
Ok, so I got home and read through the tut again, but I am having trouble on my computer, so I will post link here if anyone is willing to give this a go try, word of advice this is for a different device (att's SGS2) so DONT install any of the files that are there just follow the instructions to edit the framework. If by any chance I get my comp working once again I will attempt this.

It appears the ROM does not have the animation included. config_animateScreenLights is already set as 'false' in this ROM's Framework-res apk.

I personally don't like it, but you know what? I went and typed in crt off animation on google and got this as the first result after the videos.. http://rootzwiki.com/topic/2553-dev-enabling-crt-on-off-animation-in-roms-how-to/ even though it's for gb it might just send you in the right way once you get your smali on.. Google is your friend and you might learn from it one day if you actually use it.......
