Virtuous 0.9.5 / Android 2.2 - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I installed this yesterday and after testing a few things, i'm pretty sure, that part of it is based on a htc 2.2 rom and is older then virtuos 0.9.
i noticed the flashlight application is called "blitzlicht" again if you set the language to german. that was corrected in 1.72 / 2.2.1 to "taschenlampe".
other problems:
-if i close an application, it sometimes takes forever to get the symbols and widgets on my desktop, much longer then on 0.9.
-APN settings for swisscom are missing and have to be entered manually

well as this is your first post, i welcome you to the forums and i hope you continue to post on here. but to answer your question, yes the version of android on the newest virtuous is not 2.2.1, but rmk insists that this is the newest version of the htc sense that was released. he said in lateer builds that it will be updated back to 2.2.1. all of the problems you mentioned are getting worked on, because everryone is having the same issues as you. just sit back, because rmk always has updates and patches coming out for fixes. dont worry!

hi patrick
i noticed you're having the home screen problems as well.
i still think it's based on an older version even if it does have some new fixes.
htc seems to have some problems with their branches of the dev. tree.
i'm back to 0.9 for the moment, as it works better for me.

Android 2.2 or Sense

Hi,
I've had my desire for a few weeks now and am loving it. Only problem is that when Google release an update, it takes HTC and then the mobile operators forever to release the update.
Is there a way to do the following:
- install a default android 2.2 ROM; so when an update is issued by Google I can get it...Ive heard the desire is the same as the Nexus one, so can I use the same generic nexus rom?
- install a generic htc rom so that when HTC update their software, i dont have to wait for the my operator to do so.
If i install the nexus rom, can i revert it back to the HTC rom later?
What do you guys recommend?
thanks in advance.
Word of advise for a new poster.
Use the Search button and or look through the threads before you post.
Trust me, it will keep you alive!
No you can not, untill HTC releases there version with Sense
The speed difference between Android 2.2 and Android 2.1 is really hard to notice barr a few apps. It really isn't worth the tradeoff for now, Sense UI is far better than stock Android regardless.

[Q] Most stable release of droid for blackstone

I've tried
Link: Froyredux-Port Latest Release 02-08-2010 (Base: RC2 Nightly NEW BUILD * NEW INSTALLER)
and
Go to first new post
Android 2.2 (FroYo) On HTC [30 July 2010] (V1.2)
None worked that great, could use the phone in the 02-08 release, but it crashed after the person on the other end picked up the phone, and on the other one it didnt even find a network (Tried both 3g and 2g).
Which version is the most stable? I do not need 2.2 of Android, a 1.6 version is OK if its stable.
Thanks in advance, Anders

Go for the Android 2.1 release, not the 2.2 (which states fairly clearly is a step backwards in order to eventually progress). The 2.2 releases are quite new and relatively unstable, and only suitable for geeks who like to scream, lose data and have nothing better to do than confirm the obvious (that it's unstable).
If you really want to be running XDAndroid for anything serious, then you're insane. It's suitable to play with, and reasonable satisfactory if it's plugged into a power supply. For business use? forget it.

[Q] Recommended ROM (Eclair) for HTC Desire

Hello.
Today I received the final answer from Parrot:
Hello again,
We've already exchanged
We now have the confirmation that the HTC desire has to be deleted for the compatibility list of the 3200.
It used to work with the 2.1 version it's not working anymore on the 2.2 version.
You cannot use the HTC Desire with the 3200 car kit and we're sorry for that and will correct our web site accordingly.
So it seems I will not have success with my Parrot CK3200LS-COLOR car kit, if I use Desire with ROM based on Android 2.2.
So my questions:
1. Could somebody confirm the compatibility of Android 2.1 (Eclair) with 3200LS ?
2. If yes, could you advice some custom ROM based on Android 2.1 for my Desire ?
Many thanks for suggestions.
Eclair custom roms were dead for long. Maybe AOSP is your way
Sent from my HDfied HTC Desire
A very good 2.1 rom is ammeruxh roms... (Amer_Bravox)

Moved to General as not development.
I have stock HTC 2.2 and it works perfectly with the 3200.
Try breaking the facebook links the desire puts in your phonebook if you add a facebook accounts and so on. I had problems until I did that, it worked perfectly afterwards.

I have no facebook links and I disabled Syncro in Parrot's pairing menu. So problem is not in phonebook.

I'm going to roll back from leedroid_v2.1a to r3.1 MoDaCo Custom ROM for HTC Desire with Online Kitchen (2.1 / Eclair). Must I reflash radio also? Now my radio is 32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2. Is some difference between procedures of reflashing from 2.2 to 2.1 and from 2.2 to 2.2 based ROM's?

[Q] What radio to go with when flashing to RCMix HD v6.0.0.1?

I'm about to use RCMix HD and hopefully stick with it, I have no idea which radio to get though and I can't post in the thread itself yet, hopefully someone can give me an idea of what radio to get, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thankyou.
Hello,
I was under the impression that the RCmix 6.0.0.1 would come with the latest radio and matched RIL from the latest release that it is based off. I am new to ROMing so dont take my word for it though.
Please post back your results.
I've been using;
Radio_12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2_test
RIL_12.35d.60.140f_26.08.03.07_M
its been the best that ive used so far (used it with RCMix HD v6 and with Android Revolution HD 5.1).

I think the RIL is included, i didnt think the radio was....then again i'm new to this whole thing as well!
I don't even know what an RIL is, haha, do I need one?
RIL stands for Radio Interface Layer. As i understand it the software that allows the rom to talk to the radio. I have also read that people have had successful results without updating the RIL. I havnt updated mine and it works fine.
The RIL is apparently only needed for sense ROMS (RCMix, CoreDroid, ARHD etc.). Non-sense roms (such as CM7) dont require a RIL.
As far as I know, a radio will still work without the matching RIL, but it just works better with the correct RIL

[Q] Which ROM are you using for your DHD?

If I am not mistaken according to the FAQ it's not against the rules to make such a thread, otherwise...
I downgraded, rooted etc my DHD the other day (1st time doing it) and been using for the past days CM-M11 4.4.4 with twrp 2.7.1.0 as the recovery.
The UI looks perfect but it's slow at times, when I open the screen, try to open apps (mail, gallery, camera anything really) it might take up to 3-5secs to do it. Even clicking on hd widgets weather widget takes always 3+ sec.
Maybe 4.4.4 is too much resources wise for the DHD?
So I am interested to see what the majority of the owners use and try the most "popular" ones, as there are way too many roms and not enough time to keep flashing & trying out
I am too used to 2.3.5 so I don't necessarily need to be on the latest version, would rather have my phone be "snappy".
i got fed up of waiting for htc to provide an os update so i rooted and the first rom i tried was asopx ][ICS 4.0.4] aospX 1.0.0-MR1 | IMM76L . i used this for a long time , very stable and works fine.
Now i decided to test out the more recent roms , so using [4.4.2][XPERIA UI]Xperia KitKat ROM for DHD[SMOOTH][Beta#2][OTA2.0.2] . So far its great no issues .
I think dhd is a pretty awesome phone that did not deserve to get abandoned at 2.3 by htc ::crying:
