My touch Pro2 is blinking amber and green when power off and when powered on Also blinks and will not charge.
Read some posts it says it overheating, not mine it cool to touch and works fine. I don't think its the charge port because when power off I insert cable and it will go to amber or 5 seconds then that blinking alternating amber green.
does anyone know where the power magement ic is located on the board.
I going to try reflowing the entire board, but if I knew where the pm ic was would try that 1st. thanks.
already reset phone so it's not software issue.
It's either overheating or your battery needs to be replaced.
Before you go tearing your device apart, you could simply try another battery or try charging the battery outside of the device. Occasionally, when the battery level drops too low, the device doesn't have enough juice to charge at all and will fall into an infinite boot loop. It's easier and cheaper to just try an outside source to eliminate the obvious answers first.

my dash shuts off to charge, when ever i plug it in the charger it turns off and the led light turns red, but it is charging when i disconnect it the battery level goes up, does anyone know if this is a software or hardware problem?
I personally think it could be a battery problem. Try getting a new battery off ebay (its fairly cheap like 6.00 for a stock battery).
This morning, my phone was dead. I tried plugging it in but found a blinking orange light. I tried turning it on but it wouldnt turn on. Does this mean there is a problem with my battery?
I've gone on several trips lately where I used my phone as a GPS. I just got a new dash mount for it. On those trips, I had noticed a blinking alternating orange and green light. I thought this meant it was charging and I had a notification, however, now that I do some searching it looks like it means overheating perhaps.
The orange blinking did turn solid after a while and I was able to boot my phone.
Could be a battery issue. If the phone is completely dead, it takes a few minutes on the charger before it can power on. Let it sit for like 5 - 10 minutes on the charger, and when the light goes solid it should be able to be turned on. You may want to invest in a new battery.

This is normal behavior for a completely drained battery. The phone will not turn on until it achieves partial charge (I'm not sure off-hand what %), and it will give you the flashing orange to let you know.
As you observed, once you charge it enough, it will turn on normally and everything is fine again.
As for the blinking you observed during navigation, that could have meant notifications while charging, as you suspected. It's also possible that you were overheating, but if so the phone would have stopped accepting charge and the battery icon would have changed to indicate such.
Thanks, it is working again now. I'll have to keep an eye on the battery life to see if it has really gotten worse.
In the car, I know there was one time where it got really hot. I held it next to the AC vent for a few minutes to cool it down. Also, my charger cable may be going bad. I noticed that eventhough I turn off the screen, sometimes it will randomly come back on. I figure maybe this is the cable getting disconnected and then reconnected.
This happened to me before and it turned out it was my charger not working properly. I even got a message multiple times saying that the charging accessory was not compatible but it was the the stock data cable. The problem turned out to be it didn't have enough voltage or something like that because it kept telling me to connect to a wall rather than through USB, while I was using the A/C adapter.

I'm pretty sure that a blinking orange light during use is a "hot battery" notification. On one trip, I had navigation going, while streaming XM and had the car charger plugged in. When I noticed the blinking orange, the temp was at 119F and really hot to the touch. I immediately stopped navigation and streaming, and unplugged from the charger. Since I had the air on, I removed the phone case and battery door and let the AC blow on the phone which cooled it down and the blinking stopped.

No. It doesn't do that. If you are charging, you get a solid red and no indication of notifications.
The blinking red/green means the battery is too hot and is not charging, as other people have confirmed.
Hello all. I recently made this thread where I described the phone, the LG G3 d851 t-mobile variant. randomly rebooting and not turning on without pulling the battery. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/help/d851-randomly-shuts-off-wont-power-t3424458). I deduced it to the replacement battery (supposedly genuine) that I purchased from a seller on ebay. I put my old battery in and everything is fine again, and the seller shipped me another replacement battery (big mistake, i know).
I put in the replacement battery, and a day later the phone shuts down again in the same manner as stated in the previous thread. I pull out the battery and put it back in and.. nothing happens on screen. The LEDS just flash green and blue. I tried plugging it into a charger, just a red LED, no display. If I plug in the phone to a charger without the battery inserted, the backlight activates but nothing whatsoever appears on the screen. I cannot get into the recovery either.
If I let the phone sit for a while, and try to power it on, I see the LG boot screen appear for about 5 seconds. Then the image flickers and fades away to black, and the LED just flashes blue/green.
Am I screwed or is there any way to salvage this phone? I'm desperate for any assistance and I'm totally open to any component level repair you guys recommend (I'm pretty broke :/)

It would help if you would say what variant you have (at&t, verizon, sprint). Can you boot into TWRP? If your able to get into bootloader kdz or tot back to stock.

Possibly bricked plug it into your computer and see what it comes up as.
So strangely enough, I tried heating my phone using the most idiotic method possible by letting it heat in my blanket (I don't have immediate access to a heat gun). The screen began displaying some funky artifacts when attempting to boot with the LG logo but would otherwise revert to the behavior described in the OP (only LED working, no LCD display.).
I let the phone cool for a few hours and I'm actually able to get as far as the dialog box where it asks you whether or not you really want to format, in other words the factory data reset dialog box (when holding vol down + power to get into the recovery) with minimal to no hardware artififacts., and only when I confirm that I do does it crap out and revert to the previously described behavior. But it actually lets me use the vol keys to select an option, so I'm getting a lot further than before.
So this absolutely seems to be a hardware problem. Anywhere you guys suggest I examine before I take a heat gun to the motherboard? Any specific component I should look at?

So,
after reading into this more and suspecting loose solder joints (see the various threads about screen flickering problem), I decided to pursue this route and continue trying to heat the logic board.
I'm completely broke and don't have access to a heat gun, and with no other working phone I decided to take some desperate measures. For those of you having a similar problem and reading this, PLEASE DON'T ATTEMPT WHAT I'M ABOUT TO DESCRIBE. THIS IS A HORRIBLE IDEA.
I turned on the phone to get the blue/green LEDs , plugged it into the wall, and wrapped the phone with blankets. I let the phone cook itself for 2 hours.
Yes, just like the infamous xbox 360 "towel trick".
When I went to remove the phone from my makeshift blanket oven, the phone was brutally hot and felt like a stovetop (was painful to touch for the first 30 seconds). The screen was filled with artifacts due to the intense heat.
I carefully removed the battery, let the heat dissipate slowly for a couple minutes, let the phone cool on an AC unit for a another few minutes and turned the phone on.
It worked. Phone boots and haven't had a single problem for over a day.
I guess the problem was cold solder joints after all, and the intense heat was enough to reflow the solder and form a stable enough connection to allow the display to function again.
Even ran a stress test program for an hour with no issues.
Hoping this fix lasts (knock on wood), will report back if I have any issues.
Again, anyone having a similar problem, please don't emulate me. I shouldn't even have to say why this is a bad idea. Get a heat gun, remove the motherboard and heat it that way.
I'm sure applying the proper repair procedure described in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/help/screen-flickering-fix-successful-t3397411 would have fixed my problem as well.
So, why did this problem happen in the first place? I'm guessing it has to do with the overheating issues this model of phone has (at least my particular unit). I've been playing a lot of pokemon go, so the phone is running a lot hotter than it used to. The constant high temps (reading upwards of 75c frequently from my cpu) were enough to weaken the solder joints. I also recall dropping the phone a couple times while playing the game, and I guess this was enough to knock the joints out of wack.
I'm currently capping the CPU at 1500mhz and the GPU at 300mhz and the phone is running a lot cooler now. I'm probably going to set the resolution to 1080p, cap the framerate and possibly undervolt, though this might not be necessary.

Thinking it had no charge left, I set it to charge. I noticed the red charging light would not come on. The screen remains black at all times. I could feel a source of heat from behind the plastic backing. Some searches indicated the charging cable from the battery to the motherboard could be the culprit. I opened the back and found it seated. I removed it and reseated anyway. I left the cover off the back and plugged in the charging cable. I could feel one of the chips by the power button getting quite hot. Again, no red light to indicate charging, black screen. I have tried plugging the tablet into my computer and doing every combination of button holding for minutes that searches have supplied, POWER+VOLUME UP+ HOME, POWER+VOLUME DOWN, etc. No luck. I purchased a newer battery ( I've only used the tablet for about a month, and sparingly at that) and swapped it. No red light, same hot chip. Is the motherboard junked? Am I missing something? Appreciate any help.

Thanks Mr niceguy, I'm going to give that a shot. Couldn't hurt. I have however already purchased and installed a new battery with no change in operation, that chip on the motherboard still gets hot, no charging indicator light is lit and it just sits there not turning on.

5/ Now, there are no boot and no red led when charging
If i freeze the phone, i see the red led only for 2 minutes when charging...

Replace battery. The battery and/or charger likely doesn't provide enough peak current to boot up on.
The flash may have got corrupted if the battery/cable wasn't providing enough power.
The charger port pcb may have failed if the new battery won't charge. If not those you're looking at possible mobo failure.

Yeah don't put it in the freezer...
Most likely suspects first... batteries are relatively cheap. Next the pcb port, then mobo unless you spot obvious damage or loose connections.
