HTC Desire Unable to Root - Desire General

Hey,
I've tried to root my Desire by I get stuck at the "Backup CID missing" error. I did google about and couldn't find much and some said that the error appears when I need a gold card. Thing is my Desire is a factory unlocked piece and last time round I never used a gold card.
Its back from repair and now it is giving me this issue.
Any help appreciated
Cheers

hey guys, I did that and made a gold card, unfortunately I hit a new error.
"Error. Failed to get root. is your firmware too new?" please advice
I read up couple of links again all say to do a factory reset, anyway to do it without?
Cheers

What version of hboot are you running? It might need a downgrade perhaps.

I'm not sure although I'm running the latest OTA 2.29.405.5

Anyone? Much appreciated

I had this problem initially on my SLCD desire 0.93 hboot.
The reason is that it need a custom root file to loaded through unlocker. This is available through XDA http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9245153]
recovery-RA-desire-v1.7.0.1-R5.1-0.93.rar
after this it rooted perfectly
regards

Go through this process if all else fails for you.
1. Make a goldcard (google it so you dont have to mess with hex anymore).
2. If your phone isnt branded download the latest ruu (or earlier if you want a lower hboot, but that doesn't matter anymore).
2a. If your phone is branded, find the ruu for your carrier.
3. Optional - if you are rooted, then nandroid, if not, back up apps etc if you want them.
4. Install HTC Sync (for drivers).
5. Put your phone in to fastboot (power + back button).
6. Connect USB and run ruu.
7. Once all that's done, select usb debugging and run unrevoked.
Worked for my messed up Desire!
- If step 6 is giving you hassle, go to device manager, find android and select drivers from a list, there should only be one or two extra.

PS: Thanks everyone who took their time to post and help me

Pls refer to this page , sorry for my poor english.
连接手机和电脑,打开CMD(开始->运行->输入CMD,回车)
这里我一不小心,用了cygwin,所以显示上和你的会不太一样,没影响,仅仅是显示不太一样而已
输入:adb shell(确定你装好了adb,不过,你能遇到这个问题,应该就是装了吧)
然后
输入命令:/system/__unrevoked_su(使用unrevoked传至手机中的东东来获取root执行权限)
输入:cat /dev/mtd/mtd0 >/sdcard/misc.img(将misc分区镜像导出到sd卡上的misc.img文件中,强调一次,cat后面是有一个空格的!)
输入:getprop ro.cid(获取正确的CID号)
上一命令会有一个返回值:11111111(这个仅作为举例,请记下你获取到的值)
输入:exit(退出root)
输入:exit(退出adb shell)
输入:adb pull /sdcard/misc.img(将misc.img文件复制到CMD执行路径下,例如图中是Kitchen这个文件夹中,手动复制亦可,自由变通)
第一步完成了(这个时候没必要把CMD关了,待会还要用的)
现在打开一个十六进制编辑器,我用的winhex(提示镜像文件为磁盘时,选择否)
从0位置开始进行编辑。将上面获得的CID值写入,最后一位以00填充作为结束,如下图
然后就是要把这个misc.img文件重新刷回手机了。
输入:adb push misc.img /sdcard/new-misc.img(将该好的misc.img传到SD卡中,命名为new-misc.img,手动复制亦可,自由变通)
输入:adb shell
输入:/system/__unrevoked_su
输入:/data/local/flash_image misc /sdcard/new-misc.img(将修改过的misc.img文件重新刷回手机)

Try this version of unrEVOked:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/dd5yh9

As I mentioned above in Chinese
1. Pull out the misc partition to a misc.img
2. Write the correct CID into this misc.img file
3. flash back
You can traslate the Chinese into English with google traslate

Try unrevoked version 3.21 seems to work fine
Regards
Vengeance

[Q] Un root HTC Bravo...

First off, Yes I have searched more than this site for an answer to the point where my handset would not do anything but go into the recovery menu.
What I want to do is put stock HTC Android on my Desire.
Currently it is rooted but has to be un rooted to go onto works E Mail server. Yes I know it makes no difference but my employer insist on official firmware on handsets.
The handset is a GSM HTC Desire (Bravo)
BRAVO PVT1 SHIP 2-ON
HBOOT-093.0001
CLOCKWORKMOD RECOVERY v2.5.0.7
I have tried several RUU's only to be told of a boot loader error.
Can some one please tell me how this is done?
I asked my network and they could not help so unless some one can help me im going to have to ask HTC.
THANKS in advance

Hmmm,
How would they know if the HTC Sense ROM just happened to be rooted. One could argue that the ROM was a valid HTC ROM. I know it's semantics but ...
The "About phone" would still show HTC as the ROM.
There must already be a variety of ROMs on HTC desires already used in your company.
The Clockwork recovery would give it away mate.

This might work for you Not sure if you have tried it but try again
WAIT, BEFORE YOU START, CREATE A GOLDCARD. IT IS VERY NECESSARY. THINGS WILL GO WRONG IF YOU DONT.
Firstly, download this file. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13240777/Desire Downgrade.ZIP
Extract the files.
Run the win-down.bat file.
Follow on screen instructions.
After the process is completed, Head to the root of your SD card and check if there is a file named PB99IMG, there should be one.
Secondly, disconnect your phone and turn it off. (MAKE SURE PHONE IS CHARGED TO AT LEAST 70%++
After that boot up your phone while pressing the volume down button and the power button.
The bootloader should be checking for files after awhile and once it found the file that is supposed to be in the root of your sd card, press the volume up button (NOT EXACTLY SURE, SHOULD BE THE ONE THAT SAYS YES AND CONTINUE)
It should be writing files to your phone. and replaces everything. E.G: HBOOT, RECOVERY,RADIO and such.
It should be writing files successfully and then it would ask you to reboot. Continue with the reboot and you should be having your Desire back to stock. Perfect.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT THERE ARE RISKS INVOLVED LIKE FAILURE OF WRITING TO THE HBOOT. PLEASE REMEMBER TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS. MAINLY, DO NOT BLAME ME FOR ANYTHING THAT GOES WRONG.
FINALLY, YOU SHOULD BE READING EVERYTHING UP TO HERE AND THAT YOU MUST HAVE A GOLDCARD (A GOLD SD CARD)
Hope this helps you and please ask if you have further questions. PM me if the questions cannot be answered here. Good Luck

Yup, "ERROR 140:BOOTLOADER VERSION ERROR" The only time you can put a lower bootloader version is when you have a gold card.
The above method posted by Shockem should work. A second method is to just put a gold card in your device and get the latest WWE RUU. Check my signature for the file. Once a gold card is in, it will work. Note that this method unbrands your device, so if you a branded device with visible logos, dont go for this.
Third method is by flashing the OTA zip file you got from your operator if you have it. Again gold card should be in the device. But is is likely that it may also work without since CustID is same. Advantage: preserves branding
So do I still need a gold card even though my device is rooted?

Certainly.........
Point is you say you've tried several RUUs and they dont work..Hence we have to assume it's a branded phone. HTC even brands some phones with the brand HTC (Eg Indian HTCs). To unroot a branded HTC, you need a goldcard.
i had same problem, i was trying for days till i rememberd that i can downgrade hboot, install android 2.1 and ota update froyo. ( if your desire wasnt branded you dont need goldcard). problem was that i couldnt find stock froyo, only eclair
this thread helped me :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768256
i hope it helps
Point is some people (including me in the past) dont realize that they have a branded phone. There may not be any visible branding. So better be safe than sorry, by creating a goldcard.. Once the device if bricked, you cant (in most cases) create a goldcard
Thank you all so much.
I'll be doing this tonight.

[Q] reinstalling stock ROM on hboot 0.93.0001

My Desire recently had to be sent back to HTC for repair. Came back with hboot 0.93.001. When I got it back, I rooted it (using Unrevoked) and flashed LeeDroid 2.3b.
However, the phone has developed the common locking/rebooting fault and I need to send it back to HTC again, but before I can send it back I need to reflash the stock ROM (T-Mobile UK).
However, whichever method I try I can't get the stock ROM back on to the phone. If I try reflashing using HTC sync, then I get ERROR #140 or #170 (assuming the phone doesn't freeze during the process).
If I try extracting the ROM.zip and renaming it to PB99IMG and installing from the root of the micro SD then I get a message saying "CID incorrect! Update Fail!"
Does anyone have any ideas how I can get my piece of crap HTC Desire back to stock ROM?
P.S. if you haven't already guessed from the last statement or read any of my other posts about my Desire going wrong, I will NEVER EVER buy another HTC....their customer service stinks worse than a landfill site!!

Are you able to mount your SD card in recovery?
Try the following, I am assuming that you are running Windows 7: Try to re-format the card as FAT32 (if present, right-click on the removable disk and select Format).
1) Check if the device is getting detected in device manager. Follow the steps to go to device manager:
- Click Start, type devmgmt.msc and press enter.
- Search for the name of the device
If the device is not getting detected in device manager, then check if it is hidden device.
- Click show hidden devices under View
- Expand all the nods under device manager
There would be many grayed out entries in device manager uninstall all the grayed out entries under all the nods and then restart the computer and plug the external device to the computer and check if it works
2) Install the latest drivers from the manufacturer website and even make sure the driver is compatible with the version of operating system installed on your computer. check if it works

still having problems...

OK, I managed to create another goldcard with the goldcard tool in your signature. I then extracted the rom from the T-Mobile (UK) stock ROM and renamed it to PB99IMG.ZIP and dropped it onto the goldcard.
Rebooted with the goldcard in the phone and vol - pressed, got the boot menu. The rom image was detected and started to load (side bar in top right of screen showing progress). ROM loaded 100%, then got the 'checking ROM' message. Then..."CID incorrect! Update Fail!" message again.
I've checked and double checked the goldcard creation process and am convinced I'm doing nothing wrong.
Any other ideas? I'm beginning to think hboot 0.93.0001 can't be downgraded.
P.S. I'm running Vista 32-bit
No, flashing an old RUU over a new HBOOT won't work. The issue you've got is there isn't a 2.2 T-Mobile UK RUU available so unless you've got an AMOLED screen the only thing you can do is flash the stock HTC RUU
it is an AMOLED screen

I know t mobile would know that the rom has changed from there own one to the htc one, but are the any differences apart from that if the htc rom was installed?
I mean would it run normally and recieve the normal updates ota, and would that affect if the htc was simlocked or anything?

@Eddy,
Since he has AMOLED, there's a multistep procedure he can try.
1. Prepare the goldcard correctly with a Format in Fat32 (and deleting any extra partitions. Only 1 partition should exist-It should be a Fat32 Primary). If Goldcard is correct, phone should not give CID incorrect error.
2. Download the WWE 2.29 PB99IMG.zip, and put it in the goldcard and run it.
3. Run Teppic74's downgrader with goldcard. At the last step, choose to use this PB99img (Run this RUU while monitoring your Temp folder for changes. When the RUU loads and displays a window, search temp for Rom.zip. Rename it to PB99IMG.zip and put it in the root of the sdcard) instead of the Teppic one.
4. At this point the phone will have a completely working 2.1 Android OS branded to TMO.
5. Check for and update with OTA (You will get TMO OTAs at this point). Now your phone will have the latest TMO ssoftware and be as good as any other!
But they'd have to extract the PB99IMG file out of the RUU, the RUU on it's own won't do

Yes indeed, but quite doable. The result would be a perfectly unrooted T-Mobile branded phone.
Edit: Added instructions for extracting the PB99IMG.zip from the TMO RUU
thanks for all the advice.....
...but I've given up on my Desire.
I can't use it for more than 2 minutes at most without it freezing up!! This is nowhere near long enough to do any of the above! I've even tried resting it on a bag of ice to keep it cool, but even that was no good!
I'm just gonna sell it to one of the recycle companies and put the money towards buying myself out of my contract.
Shame really because when it was working, it was a brilliant phone!!
HTC seriously need to get their house in order QC-wise. I know they have been making phones for a good few years now, but people still say "HTC, who??" and while they're QC remains as bad as it seemingly appears to be then that situation will persist!!
Think I'm gonna take a risk on the LG Optimus 2X when it comes out!! Why? because I love Android...I love bleeding edge...only now I hate HTC with a passion!!!

Same here. If anyone can get my T-Mobile (UK) Desire (rooted, hboot 0.93.0001) back to stock ROM then I'd be willing to pay (within reason). Bearing in mind you'd first have to solve the problem of it not being usable for any more then 2 minutes even from 'cold'.
No software problem should fail to be repaired by running a ruu. If if freezes or loops while running ruu, that confirms a hardware fault which necessitates a return if the device.
No I'm not in UK. I know that what I described may seem overwhelming, but believe me, if you run the procedure I mentioned, step-by-step and with the files I linked, there is no reason why you can't have your phone up and running in under 45 mins. See the unrooting guide I've written, linked in my signature, for the step-by-step method of running the pb99img from an ruu. It's easy enough. Only things you need for a smooth sailing is a working goldcard and the file extracted from the ruu correctly.
Note that I can't confirm that this method will work for Slcd , and it is quite dangerous running a 1.20 ruu on slcd. Proceed only if you're sure that yours is an amoled desire

[Q] Really worried about my flash!

Hi guys... A colleague of mine just got a branded orange desire hd and asked me to debrand it for him.
I've never flashed a HTC phone.
I looked through the forums and did the following on an old laptop at work:
1. Made a gold card.
2. Downloaded stock 1.32 rom
3. Downloaded test 1.15 rom
4. Unzipped 1.32 then opened up 1.15 and copied 1.32 over the temp.
5. Went through the flash process and confirmed I wanted to upgrade from 1.40 orange to 1.32 stock.
6. The software rebooted the phone to the HTC screen.
7. The software says 'sending'.
8. This process was started at 6 pm... But was continuing at 8 pm!
The laptop is old (centrino processor)... So I have left it to run over night...
What are your thoughts? If it's done in the morning I'm okay... But what do I do if not?
Thanks

has the DHD rebooted yet? or are you still booted into the os? if it hasent rebooted yet you could try flashing the ruu from fastboot. also check the software version on the phone, mine was orange branded and came with the 1.40.xxx version and was easly rooted using visionary with no downgrade needed

i woulnt touch it then, if its flashing bootloader or radio you could perm brick it...... best bet is to just wait, but it only took me about 10 minutes to flash an ruu
This is the problem... I think it's just taking AGES because the laptop is just sooooo sloooooooooow! When I originally opened the RUU it took about 5 minutes to open.
At least you have confirmed it is flashing and what I have done would usually have been correct.
Hopefully it's finished by tomorrow. If it isn't, any other ideas?

only other option is just to bite the bullet and disconnect it. as long as you can boot into the bootloader you can always flash the ruu from fastboot, obviously by disconnecting it you also run the risk of bricking it
Thanks. So, IF I need to disconnect it...
How do I get to the bootloader? And do I need some software for fastboot commands in windows?

if you have htc sync installed you will already have the hboot/fastboot drivers. to flash an ruu from fatboot, turn the device off then hold volume down and press the power key (keep vol down held down) this will bring up the hboot screen, use the volume buttons to navigate the menu till fastboot is selected, press the power button to confirm, when in fastboot just connect to the pc and run the ruu
Fantastic! Thanks a lot!

it means you made the goldcard unsucessfully. liike i said check the current version number on the rom. if it says 1.4x.xxxxx. you dont need to downgrade, you can root using visionary then s-off

Try it the pd98img.zip method. It has much better success.

Thanks, I have found out that this is just the ROM renamed and installed via bootloader... Do I need a gold card for this?

I can't sell rooting to my colleague for some reason The pd98img.zip seems like a good way to go (it's the same method I used to use on my xperia x1), but will I need to fix the gold card to do this? And, if not... Does this completely wipe the phone?
Is rooting the least likely to brick? I might just ask to take it home and do it myself! (Though I haven't quite figured out the s-off method yet).
Thanks,

you cant s-off without rooting i thought you were trying to downgrade the rom so you can root and s-off. what im tryna say is, if you have the right software version you dont need to downgrade to root

No... don't want root... He just wants to debrand his phone. Orange sticks a load of bloatware on their version like a fake market and their own map application etc as well as a load of game demos.
So, all I am trying to do is go from orange to stock firmware. So, just need to install the stock rom. Does the pd98img need a gold card? I'll try and do that again on Monday if necessary... Is there anyway to confirm the gold card is correct before trying to flash?
Thanks again... sorry to be such a bore with this... it just seems so much more complicated than I'm used to (Flashing Xperia X1 and Galaxy S).

Hi.
Are you trying to run the latest RUU WWE 2.29.405.5? This should give you no problems, unless you have a custom HBOOT, which I can't see.
Try running the PB99IMG.zip directly from SD Card. Here it is how to extract the PB99IMG.zip from the RUU: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=880268 -2nd post.
Please explain a little more about what you have did to the phone till now (custom HBOOT?).
We have to take it slowly.
i tried using this version -
RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed.exe
and regards to the hboot i have used alpha rev so i dont know if that classes as a custom hboot or not.
and thanks for the quick reply

Hi.
Well there's the problem the version of RUU is way too old (1.21.405.2 <-> 2.29.405.5). Try running the latest RUU and run it from bootloader (PB99IMG.zip).
If you have used alpharev only to S-OFF but not to flash HBOOT's then there is no problem. Just run the latest RUU and it will be all over.
Please post the result.
okay so i use the ruu and make a pb99img, mount the usb storage place it on the phone reboot and it should work. do i need a gold card tho to do this?

Yes.
1. Extract the PB99IMG.zip and put it on root of SD Card.
2. Reboot in bootloader (Volume-Down + Power)
3. It will automatically load the img and ask you if you want to install
4. Check Yes and follow onscreen progress.
5. Wait untill it finnishes
6. I think it will reboot itself, if not scroll down to the Reboot obtion and press Power button to select.
About the gold card:
You need a gold card only if you have a branded phone.
If you do need to create a gold card try this guide:

4. Do I need a Goldcard?
If you have a recent version of the RUU for your Device, available on Shipped Roms, you dont need a goldcard. This is the usual scenario for people who purchased their Desire in Europe, and so have an unbranded Desire. All Branded Desires need a correct branded version of the RUU, and any other RUU including WWE (Worldwide English, or European) RUU will not work for them. Also if an unbranded Desire user wishes to change RUU to a branded version, he will need a Goldcard. This is because all Desires have a particular software tag in the Rom, called the InfoCID. This dictates the Region code. For Eg. An Indian Desire is branded and has InfoCID of HTC__038. When you change a RUU to different region, what you actually do is reset the InfoCID setting. Changing the InfoCID setting requires a Goldcard.
5. What is a Goldcard?
It is a normal MicroUSB card specially prepared in such a way that its Sector 0 (which normally doesnt hold anything useful) is modified, so that it signals to the HTC RUU that the InfoCID may be changed.
6. How do I create a Goldcard?
Just download this tool (Credits and All Rights by [email protected]), and run it.
7. Can you tell me more about Goldcards?
Sure. I've already posted it for you. Read the FAQs in this thread.

Or to create a gold card in Linux(without using the phone): http://www.nazriawang.com/2010/04/how-to-create-goldcard-with-ubuntu.html
No method available for Windows only.
droidzone said:
Whatever you do, DO NOT turn off the device manually unless the software tells you to. If something goes wrong, dont switch off phone. Keep the phone on while trying a solution. Newer RUUs dont usually wreck a phone, and with a goldcard, you can always recover. But, the flash SHOULD NOT be interrupted by switching off or disconnecting the cable.
Always start with a battery with >50% power (full recommended).

Stuck on safety screen following RUU flash plaus other issues

Hi. Firstly yes I have read, thread after thread after thread and I am now the owner of a useless phone.
Rom RUU_Buzz_TMO_UK_1.14.110.1_Radio_13.45.55.24_3.35.15.19_release_130442_signed
Kernal no clue right now
Radio 3.35.15.19
Hboot 6.01.1002
s- off
Tweaks / coustomizations you installed. none now
Memory card partitions info. it is partitioned but I cant remember now what size.
Brief history.
I was running latest CM7 but could not get GPS at all. I tried to flash various radio updates and got nowhere. In fact I only successfully flashed one and then I lost all my contacts and the damn phone decided not to sync with gmail so I thought sod it I will go back to stock and ran RUU_Buzz_TMO_UK_1.14.110.1_Radio_13.45.55.24_3.35.15.19_release_130442_signed exe.
Now I am stuck on the safety screen and bootloader is saying there is no backup etc.
Now. I have read through various threads, tried various things but I cant get teh damn thing to work.
Please dont say I should read this thread etc because I can assure you I have just been through 4 hours worth of them today and christ knows how many on this and other sites over the past month trying to get this bloody phone to work properly.
Can anyone give me some clear instructions where I can find out what my exact modle is, as I am beginning to think the processor etc in this phone is different to the ave Wildfire.
I dont care if its branded, stock, modded. I need it to txt, phone, www and GPS. Right no I just got the safety bar and no way of accessing the menus.
Chers. Chris
Im guessing I need to drop a rom in the SD card and recover that image.
But what ROM Ive downloaded every single one I can find. When I run recovery, there is a picture of a phone with a caution sign on it.
Step 1 - Recovery fix
Hi there!
The problem is that you don't have the correct recovery installed or this has been corrupted. Now, before we get started I just need to ask one question, as stupid as it may seem, I just need to make sure.
Do you own a HTC Wildfire (i.e. Buzz) or a HTC Wildfire S?
If it's the S one DO NOT try this fix! It may be that you have been trying to install the wrong soft on your phone an that's why it's not working. Instead, go to the HTC Wildfire S section of the forum.
However, if it's the regular HTC Wildfire (i.e. Buzz) you can proceed.
I've put together a little fix for you, just follow the steps below:
0. Download attached file and extract it somewhere easy to access.
1. Start phone in bootloader. ( volume down + power button)
2. Wait for phone to settle. (detects SD card, etc.)
3. Using volume buttons go to FASTBOOT and then select it by pressing the power button.
4. Connect your phone to the computer via USB cable.
6. Browse to the folder where you extracted the attachement and run as administrator the file flashrecovery.bat (right-click and select 'Run as administrator')
7. Follow the steps on screen.
8. All done! Now you should be able to go into RECOVERY to install a custom ROM.
OK I finally flashed a RUU that is working. Its from Japan with English option. But I have a working phone. It just wont access the market or any email and thinks im asian.
Has anyone got a working stock rom for a UK buzz please.

I was just about to write step 2 of the fix I gave above.
However, if you just want a HTC stock ROM just install the one below:
RUU_Buzz_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.22.405.1_Radio_13.55.55.24H_3.35.20.10_release_160191_signed.exe
---------- Post added at 06:52 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:50 PM ----------
Since your phone is S-OFF with the Revolutionary HBOOT, the HTC stock ROM won't be able to overwrite the HBOOT which is a good thing.
However, it WILL overwrite the recovery so if you want to install the recovery at a later date you will have to go through the Step 1 listeb above.

Hi yes its a Wildfire (buzz). something odd about it as I flashed 5 RUU's and none of them worked and now im up and running on a Korean language with English option.
Just stick onto that Korean ROM and then run the one in my previous link. That is the HTC Stock World Wide ROM - it should work on ANY HTC Wildfire (Buzz).

Cheers. I am not a lover of the stock HTC rom, but I need the GPS to work and CM7 just doesnt and I have no intention of becoming a wizzkid at tweaking phones just to get them to do what they should, which it seems CM7 will make me.
At least I got teh phone to work without help which I am chuffed about. But I cannot even connect to market contacts or facefarce with this present one.

What I meant is that now that you have a ROM installed you don't need to go through the steps that I was planning to explain.
Instead, if you want to get the stock HTC ROM all you have to do is to run the RUU that I mentioned in one of my previous posts.
RUU_Buzz_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.22.405.1_Radio_13.55.55.24H_3.35.20.10_release_160191_signed.exe
As I was also saying, this ROM is definitely going to work fine on your phone.

If you really want ROOT, that's easy enough to do now that you have the ROM I recommended. There's 2 ways depending on the HBOOT that you now have now your Wildfire. The stock ROM may have overwritten the Revolutionary HBOOT so you first need to check that:
1. Start you phone in boot mode (volume down + power) and see what the version number is.
2. If it's Hboot 1.01.0001 then you have HTC stock HBOOT so now you also have to look at the very first line to see if it's S-OFF or S-ON.
3. Otherwise, if it's Hboot 6.01.1002 (or anything that starts with 6) then you're still on Revolutionary HBOOT.
Now, based on the findings of the above, chose the option that suits you:
Option 1: for Revolutionary HBOOT 6.01.1002
1. Simply follow the steps in my very first post in this thread to restore your recovery. (this will have been overwritten by the stock RUU).
2. Copy the Superuser-3.0.7-efgh-signed.zip (see attached) file to your SD card, boot into recovery and install the zip. Now, you'll have root.
3. [Optional - only needed for some apps to run in root] Go to the Market and download BusyBox then install it in both locations, i.e. system/bin and then system/xbin.
4. That's it! You're all rooted now!
Option 2: for HTC stock HBOOT 1.01.1001 with S-ON
1. Go through the Revolutionary process again and at the end it will ask you if you want to install a recovery. Make sure that you DO!
Now follow steps 2 - 4 from Option 1 above.
Option 3: for HTC stock HBOOT 1.01.1001 with S-OFF
Well, this is very unlikely to happen but if it does you can either:
1. Try to use Unrevoked and then you may need to do step 3 from Option 1.
2. Or simply go straight to steps 2 - 4 from Option 1 above.
THAT'S IT! Now you should have root again!
