Verdict on Incipio Feather with Docks - Atrix 4G Accessories

There are conflicting reads. Some say the car dock will fit by removing the insert. Some say, it will not. So what is the final verdict? Pictures will help.
Also, how about the multimedia dock. Will the Feather fit?

I was about to open a thread with the same post. Can someone please tell if their incipo fits in Car Dock?

IMO the Feather does "work". The top clamp does not grab the outside edge of the phone, but it does almost. This makes the phone secure enough (IMO) for all but Rally racing. I already had the dock, but only had the Speck case, the Speck case is not even close by the way. Got my Feather today. Dock + Feather = happy....for me anyway. Ill try to put up pics later.

Sorry....I tried. First post, so no photos.

I have the MM dock and the car dock. The speck only worked with the MM dock while I was holding (forcing) the phone into the dock, and even then didn't detect properly. It didn't work at all in the car dock, even with the insert taken out.
The feather works great in the MM dock and (from trying in the store) with the charging dock with the insert taken out. The car dock also works when the insert is out, but the phone has to be placed semi-firmly in the dock and as others have said the top arm doesn't come over far enough to catch the edge of the phone to hold it completely solid. I'm sure the phone will never fall out of the dock unless I do some serious offroad rally driving. The feather is the best case fit-wise that I've seen so far.

Feather fits and functions in all docks. The Car Dock, as mentioned, is a snug fit and the top clip doesn't fit around the side of the case to really "lock" it in place, but it holds it down more than sufficiently for normal use. I thought about gluing an extra strip of plastic so that it clipped onto the feather case, but after using it for a week or so now it doesn't really need it.

Great responses! Feather it is!

I agree, I have the feather case with the car dock and mine is quite stable enough, the top clamp doesn't grab the outside either but is secure for sure.

Really? My Atrix doesn't fit in the desktop dock when I have the Incipio feather on it. But the case is easy to remove so I don't bother.

If you take the insert out, it fits perfectly.

Which case should I get? [Options listed]

What I want out of my case is something that I would be able to use with the car dock, makes the phone grippy, and protects it from scratches and light drops. (even though I've never dropped a phone) hehe

Any thoughts? I'd assume the feather would fit in the car dock better. But more expensive.

I'm using the Feather now and while I like it, I would like a little more protection. I have tried almost every case they have so far for the Atrix (Otterbox Defender, Otterbox Impact, Body Glove, some generic plastic snap-on, Speck Candyshell, and the Feather), but I haven't found one I like. Next up will be the Commuter case but I'm hoping the market will pick up for the Atrix. Best Buy should have a selection on March 27, which is what they told me anyways. They said that was supposed to be when the Atrix was to be released so they have to wait because that is when their orders are dated for.
The feather is worth the money IMO as it adds up to the phone's protection and appeal without adding bulk.
I like the fact that you can put it on and take it off very easily, that it's sturdy, that it has a great feel to it and that it makes the phone look better / more elegant than without. It also protects the screen as it raises a mimilimeter above the edges.
What I didn't like was the screen protector, but it's an extra and is not even advertised on the box, so that's fine with me.
Have a look at the pics in this thread:

I have the Otterbox Commuter & Incipio Feather cases. I prefer the Feather as it's not such a dust magnet like the Commuter is.
I have the Otter box commuter as well. The rubber does pick up a bit of pocket fuzz, but other than that it's great. Strong, not too bulky (the same dimensions as my iphone 3g with incase slider) and doesn't look bad either. It also makes the phone a bit less slippery.
Also, for what it's worth, I've read in other threads that folks can't get the Atrix to fit well in the car dock even with a case as thin as the feather.
Alright thanks for the replies. I went with the TPU because it's so cheap... Just want something to make the phone stay in my pocket better. Hopefully it's easy to take off and on for car dock. Because I want to keep the insert in because I enjoy a bit of aggressive driving.

I use the speck case and its pretty simple to take on and off for the car dock, even the otterbox defender takes me like 30secs max to take off

i got the body glove case. fits great. and its rubberized/plastic so it slides out of your pocket easily. ive already dropped it once. WOOPS. everything is fine though.
i have the armor protection that you get at the malls as well. that stuff si great!
After looking at cases I had it narrowed down to a speck or the feather. I chose the feather. With some googling I found a place that sells feathers for 13.99 even found a coupon for to take care of shipping. I ended up paying 15 and some change for it shipped. I'm looking forward to having a case for my phone. It may not offer as much protection as an otterbox but I like for looks of the feather a lot more.
I suggest this TPU Fusion Case that cost less that $5 shipped

Pictures look nice
the mirage is a good case. I have it
I currently have the Feather and its amazing. It fits nicely into the holster as previously stated by most users.
A little nice hint though, if u want protection from the bottom and top since the feather provides for only the sides and back of the phone, use a full body shield protector. They are thin and still allow for the Feather to cover over the phone nicely and they add protection for the top and bottom to compliment the Feather case.

anyone found out anything more about the cover mentioned in the HD dock manual or the adapter for the docks that allow them to take a phone in case
I just ordered the otterbox impact

[Pics] Vehicle dock (slight mod) w/ Incipio Feather

I got the vehicle dock ($39 shipped from ABT Electronics) based on reviews here saying that it works with the Incipio Feather case. It does fit, but i wasn't 100% happy with they way the top clip was clipping (or not clipping) onto the case. The little plastic lip wont reach over the lip of the case and it clamps to the side of the case, with no contact with the rubber padding strip under there. If you have the dock / case combo, you should know what i am talking about. I decided to dremel out the little lip, now it clamps nicely on the rubber strip, and feels more secure. Here are some pictures of the fit.
Nice job there. Let me do it on mine.
nice this is what i was planning on doing when i got the dock. thanks for the post man.

hard case with car dock?

Anyone know what hard case will work with a the car dock? I am looking at getting both for my atrix but i want to make sure that im not tossing money down the drain on either. I DONT want to take the case off everytime i use the car dock either. Any ideas? Thanks in advance guys.
As far as I know, the only cases that have been shown to work with the car dock are the scrapped project moto ruggedized case and the rearth ringke cases. Neither are hard cases though.
No hard cases will fit cardock

I should revise my previous statement. The ringke case fits as well as the incipio feather (hard case) was said to fit. It seats into the car dock, activates car mode, but the top clip doesn't sit in front of the screen.

I'm using a Ram Mount with my otterbox defender, and this app. Works great, other than my one problem with the defender case.
Check this out this is what I did

This is mine.
I use the Body Glove Mirage case with the HD, Car, and Lap dock. There are inserts on all of them that need to be removed (or not installed in the case of the car dock). That is all it took. Sorry, I forgot to say, it isn't a hard case but it works for me.

current best full body protection

so i hear zagg is not way to go....after many forums searches i still cant find what really covers the entire phone and a lot of the threads are dated
anyone have current info on what does? and what is the best? if anyone has pics id appreciate it
also, are all of these thin enough to fit in the car dock? it looks like carbon fiber ones might be too bulky
Seidio offer a two piece solution that I still uses from time to time. I have the plastic kickstand version (before they went with the metal setup). Works well while being as slim as can be.
EDIT. I'm talking about the extended case version.
I'm also using a GNEX right now and I do have a Seidio case with the plastic kickstand. I love the case as well.
I use Platinum Series Deluxe.
Available at Best Buy. It's 3 pieces in the case itself, and then has a holster.
It's a plastic/rubber sleeve, then you put a silicone cover over that, and then you top off the silicone with a hard plastic cover that secures it all down.
Much better than otterbox, in my opinion.
However, a screen protector will be needed.
Covers all buttons, leaves the kick stand available, covers the charging port but has a way to fold it over so your phone can be charged with the case on, covers the headphone jack with a way to fold it over and access it with the case on, even covers the camera lense and also has a built in flap door that you can easily pull back to use your camera.
I recommend this case to anyone.
No more bulky than an otterbox either.

Ditto! Any one have any luck on protection without a case? I'm unable to find one that doesn't make the phone bulky.
Only thing about the 3 piece seidio case I didn't Like was that the 2 pieces that slide over the phone causes the screen protector to move too .. letting air bubbles get in.. dirt too

Leather Horizonal Holster Case

Just made the jump from S2 to S3. I have the QCell extended battery and TPU case. Anyone know of a belt/horizontal leather case that will hold this monster?
I'll be checking this thread. I don't have an extended battery but I have the Otter Box Commuter on mine. Would like to find a nice belt case. I still can't get used to putting it in my pocket.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
Look for a luximo case.. I am not sure it can hold an otterbox, but it has stretching sides and is larger than most belt cases. It worked well for me. I found mine on ebay, but I have seen it on amazon as well. A simple search for S3 and luximo should find it.
Luxmo
I have the Luxmo horizontal case myself (with magnetic front flap, two-belt-loop and one clip on back). It works reasonably well.
I have a cheap no-name hard-shell case on the SG3 (which I now use without the original accompanying holster because the holster grip got loose and the SG3 slipped out and fell to the ground twice; but that's a separate topic).
Although the SG3+hard case fits the Luxmo case, putting in and taking out is a two-handed operation as the phone doesn't "slide" in/out easily. This is due to the Luxmo's side elastics catching on the USB port or headphone jack opening of the hard case. Perhaps a more "slippery" TPU case or smooth plastic case would work better.
But the SG3+hard case does fit inside the Luxmo snuggly and I've been pretty happy with it.
