Flash an EB13 based ROM and use a kernel that addresses the keyboard lag. Some ROMs include it.

appreciate it.. will do tonight !.. which is the best ones to run for performance / battery life running the required eb13
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk

Right now, Im using Frozen 1.0 and runs pretty good. Bonsai 3.0 is also getting pretty good reviews. AOSP just got updated also. Just check the changelogs, see what works and whats included in each ROM. You got nothing to loose.

Let's not beat around the bush. Frozen has the most tweaks and has the best performance so far.

sweet... lets see if i can crank this 4g on and download the rom via ota

went to the frozen rom and still no fix.. whats next ..

Nothing. The hardware keyboard has been fraught with issues since launch so until someone manages to disable the long press for foreign characters function disabled it will still be there.

This might sound dumb, but did you turn it off? When setting up my smart keyboard pro I found a place to turn the hard keyboard off.

Hydra kernels problems

Just tried every kernel Hydra has to offer and every one put my phone into a bootloop. Had to revert back to stock.
Any tips to get these working?

I used the OC/UV ov, kernel #2 from Hydra. It was working ok but made my keyboard really laggy.
Sent from my rooted Incrediblę
My keyboard is sometimes laggy but usually really fast. I've isolated the issue to the dictionary, I'm sure if auto suggest was off you wouldn't notice it.
Although, after using it for a day, the keyboard lag seems to have gone. Maybe it was repopulating or something.. no idea in this department.
Edit: these kernels are meant only for froyo

Modem after rooting?

I just successfully rooted my phone.
Running Syndicate with Genocide.
The baseband version is showing S:d700.0.5S.EC05.
is tihs cool? Do I need to grab a custom one?
You're good everything working? I've been successful with gb rom and ec05 modem...if something isn't working post it here and we can walk through a fix.

I am tellin ya, you guys rock with us noobs....
So far so good. Just got my google music up and running (see my other post why I use it).
I am sure I never noticed it before, but while sitting in bed in the bedroom, I am showing full bars, but no 3g. I am sure it is just where I am at but tomorow I can confirm if my 3g is working like it should when I am work. STL has 4g, but I have only seen it like 3 times
Now, one thing I am concerned about is the battery. I went from 97 to 88 now in 20 minutes. Nothing but setting up icons, going through voodoo, downloading my normal apps from the market. Seems kind of fast to me.
Like I said, tomorow when I am at work and I start using it for my music, I will be able to really give it a road test and will report back.
Thanks for all the help here guys.
The Display eats most of your battery. Remember to keep the brightness at the minimum useable for you.

I have found that downloading and installing a bunch of apps in a row will also eat up battery
So does flashing

Pimp my Rom

I came across this interesting app/tweak.
It's supposed to be universal, I am downloading now and will update my finding. Anyone else tried this?

Read about it on Lifehacker, how's it working out for you?
This is pretty interesting, might give it a try.
Nice. Downloading to give a try. I thought I saw some devs talking about incorporating this into some ROMs?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Weird. So it could actually work on a TW ROM?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
So has anyone tested this yet?
Tried it on cm9 (Shabby's latest nightly). Some things work, others don't and some will cause the script to hang. It looks like the build.prop tweaks applied and the init.d items copied to the appropriate folder, though I really can't notice a whole heaping difference myself so I don't know if they actually did anything, and the script itself ran out of the box. The not working list looks to consist of things that probably just need a little E4GT love from our devs to button everything up straight. And (at least for me) installing the Smart Stay app froze the whole process but after a reboot I found that it installed the app.
Just my .02¢, others could probably give a much better run down but I just wanted to play with it so it only seemed right to share what I noticed.
Props to the Dev and OP. I'm very fond of this idea, and thankful it was shared.
UPDATED: OK so I got bored and tried it on PA 2.16 and got a little better luck (ie didn't freeze once and actually installed everything I had selected.)
I'm also on PA and it doesn't cripple anything, but I don't see a very dramatic difference in much of the overall operation. I was hoping it'd help battery life but it seems no different. The Sony music player is kind of cool, and the CPU governors seem to kick in. I guess one would have to really dig in to see the difference. But I'm stoked on this kind of mod coming out.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Another update: I've tried it on aosp jb and ics and touchwiz ics. Still no huge differences anywhere on any rom but it's useful to add beats and a file manager on roms that dont have one out of the box amongst other things. I hope to see this come out of development strong as it's a nice concept
I've noticed more steady battery life.

Which tweaks did you use, if you remember? Ver 2.0 has had a small improvement over the original so maybe I'm just not paying close enough attention. I must say the update alone makes this worth trying once.

This seems promising. I can't speak to any battery life improvement yet but the phone does feel snappier.
I installed v2 and here is my find running few tweaks.
Browser seems a bit faster
Touch input seems more accurate and responsive
Battery is hard to tell but maybe added 30mins extra screen on time
I flashed sony music and beats, but I can't find them... not sure whats up lol
Regardless, everything seems a bit more responsive?
Smartstay is quite handy. Especially for pron

I've only ever gotten the Awesome Beats app from Pimp my Rom, which is just a modded DSP manager. The Sony apps are a music player and gallery, which are pretty nicely polished, with quite a few addons for them. What is this acid audio app you mentioned? Not that I'm doubting you, I've just never run across it so I'd like to check it out.

Which rom to use? Jedi issues...

I am currently running jedi rom x10. I was on x11 but was having this weird issue so I reverted back. The issue is still here. When I'm home I always use wifi. If I'm home connected to wifi for awhile and I go out it doesn't allow 3g or HSPA to connect. I have to reboot the phone for it to work again. I'm guessing this is a rom issue? I haven't tried a different rom yet... anyone have suggestions?

I was running the Jedi ROM x10 & x11 (switched to Jedi CM) and never had these issues.... I can assure you that it is user error and not the ROMs fault.
Are you using cwm or twrp?

I am gonna have to say it probably was a bad download. Even if u did a reflash it probably was not with a fresh download. I have had similar issues and it took a while to get the download right. I always shut off my antivirus in case it wanna get dumb a block a file it thinks it bad. I have been on the rom u are using now and left cause if u try and ask a simple question u sometimes get flamed. It was just a bad experience with a few idiots over their.

It's usually updated daily, but I'm preoccupied with immigration and work stuff at the moment. As soon as things settle down, the daily updates will resume.
used Tweaked....best rom i have ever used
solid rom, with all the features of stock phone plus a ton of additional features such as skip tracks with volume and changing the colors of toggles and text, clock etc, asop lockscreen and more
with aroma you can install what you want or remove what you want, ++++
no reboots or freeze and excellent battery

Tweaked is the only rom ive used with my note2. All I did with my previous devices was flash flash flash. does anyone have any reasons to switch from tweaked? thanks
None. I'm running an AOSP ROM right now, Vanilla RootBox. For TW, Tweaked is my favorite right now. It's not missing anything at all. That being said, I love me some AOSP!!

Jedi Master 10 is the best ROM i have used so far.
i have issues with the phone SOMETIMES freezing when i open certain programs. the Quadrant Benchmark Test. It will happen with the CPU Manager. I let it handle the problem like a PC... I wait. The issue seems to have resolved itself after a while. also, some widgets are cut off. like my alarm clock doesn't fully show.
I am currently getting a consistent benchmark score of 7800. the FPS on the test is even at 58 most of the time, sometimes flickering to 59.its the smoothest i've seen this phone run the test
in all honesty. I would run the PAC-man ROM all day, but they seemed to have completely disabled all S-Pen functions (which is half my note 2 use). and i dislike the Android Keyboard. I prefer the Samsung keyboard with the numbers at the top like a laptop. I also do not like the quickness of changing from screen to screen its a snappy ROM with almost no flaws that I can detect
I also like CleanROM, but it has some things about it that turn me away from it. The auto correct function when texting is a bit sloppy. the S-Pen functions and writing don't seem to be as good. the speed of the phone is around 5000 on the benchmark.
if you don't use the S-Pen functions, and don't mind the Android Keyboard, try PAC-man.

Network error and can't connect to internet

I need some help. So my issue can be a couple of things. So I flashed a beanstalk Rom last night and as of this morning and early afternoon I had internet, could connect to Fb and etc. But I also had my line switched last night from being under my ex's line to my own and for a moment then I couldn't connect until I selected some plan. So back to today everything has been fine until I noticed flashing the latest Nos script. It was some time after then where I couldn't log on. Not immediately but I knew since then I couldn't. So my question is would it be because of that script or something on the t-mobile side? I haven't called because my phone is rooted and not sure how to handle that. I also don't know if apn settings may be messed up? Please help and thanks

I have many app ideas, but don't have the skill or the time to learn how to make an app. if you would like to know an idea and attempt to make one, just message me.
Sounds like there's a problem with the script. You could make a nandroid and do a clean flash to see if everything works.
OK so I think it was a script or possibly the kernel. I went to a nandroid I made last night and went to that. Had the same radio and but no script and not the newer kernel and it works fine.

It's most likely the script I had conflicting wifi and data tweaks once same thing happened to me couldn't connect to anything until I figured it out. It was the sysctl. conf file conflicting with the build prop and int.d tweaks I had.

Yeah I removed the script including the sysctl. conf file. Then put the original one back and it was good. I have been running Liquidsmooth RC9 since November as my main rom. Have V6, GPU oc'd, reversed mounting script for external/internal sd, and sound mods on it with kko kernel. I flash all the roms though just to see how they run. I really like the linaro builds lately that are coming out. They seem to be getting snappier and overclocking to 2ghz with the uber kernel is sweet just to test with but not an all day thing or your phone will blow up. Been staying on 4.1.2 for stability reasons mainly. Camera and video doesn't act crazy, notification lights work, and the coding of the kernels isn't out of whack like some of the 4.2.2 roms. Eventually I will jump fully to a 4.2.2 rom but for now I am good with 4.1.2 because it's reliable with no issues.
