Please help! multiple issues! - Droid Pro Android Development

just got my droid pro, rooted with z4root. downloaded rom manager and tried to flash clockwork recovery but only droid, droid2, and droid x option. no droid pro. so i can't even get into recovery to make a nandroid backup. also, while i have root, i cannot get the "wired tether" or "wireless tether" app to work because it says unsupported kernel! can someone please help me! thanks!

I used the Droid 2 bootstrap and recovery any everything worked fine, even nandroid backups and restores.
Also, check out the latest Wifi Tether 3.0 version, it should work in AP mode.

Cool thanks for the reply. Got the wife tether working now. Is there an official bootstrap we should use for the droid pro because I've read that some have used the droid x bootstrap as well.

[Q] Phone button glitch...

Ok, I have a 2.02 hBoot EVO running 3.30 Froyo.
I have been rooted for a few days now and I just installed Wifi Tether from the market... It all worked well and what not - but now when I hit the Phone Button on the bottom of the screen (Rooted Stock Froyo) it no longer pulls up my phone dialer or recent history... all it does is pops up a grey bubble with the word "phone" inside it... I attached a few pictures of it to this post - any one know if Wifi Tether had anything to do with this or what else could have caused it?
Thanks
Your phone apk is not in systems. You need to reflash the Rom as it did not flash correctly

But I didn't flash a ROM...it worked until a cpl hours ago... I did "back up ROM" on my Rom manager Also a nandriod BU... then installed WiFi tether and some time after that it stopped working...

just reflash the same Rom with out wiping anything. that should give the phone apk back.
I didnt flash a rom... Im still running rooting stock...

Odexed? Deodexed?
You can extract the apk from SteelH's ROM (it is pretty much stock) Or hunt for the actual stock rooted ROMs (deodexed and odexed)

Backup droid pro rom?

How do i backup a droid pro at the rom level? There is data on this device that I really need.
You must be rooted. Presuming you are running the updated firmware, root can be obtained via aroot (available here).
Make sure you have the latest Moto USB drivers (here)
Next install Droid 2 Bootstrapper (available in the Market), which will install Clock Work Recovery.
Boot into recovery and backup.
Does this create what is called a nandroid?

yes - this is your nandroid backup
And a nandroid is like an image of your phone, right?
Whenever I try to download aroot from the "aroot" link, it just takes me to a page with a bunch of characters on it...am I missing some steps or something. I really need my Pro rooted again. I hate the bloatware and need it frozen.

The aroot file is compressed. Download and install 7zip or WinRAR on pc. Then tether your droid pro via usb cable... and then click on the aroot.bat file to root
Thanks I will give that a try and let you know how it goes.

Root and rom

I am wanting to help my dad root and rom his DROID incredible. Is there a one click app to root his phone like I used for my phone or is unrovoked it? Also romming, are there any guides? One more thing, where do you get clockwork recovery and roms? Rom manager?
Sent from my rooted/gingerbread/fast/awesome droid x
To root get unrevoke is a one click process... Once rooted you can get recovery clockmod from rom manager after that you can install any rom from the dev forum just follow the instruction on the thread... if you want like skyrider or virtuous you can get those from rom manager or if you want like sense 3.0 you get those roms from the dev forum...
Hope it helps..
Unrevoked is a one click root and it installs clockwork recovery. For roms, check out the development section, the OP will have info on how to flash.
He also wants nfl mobile from vzw will he be able to have that?

NFL mobile can be downloaded from the market, but a monthly fee is required for the live feed during games.

OK well, yes, he can still have it. He can have any and all the apps he currently has. Use titanium backup pro, it costs money but it's such an amazing app

I use that app. But will he still be able to watch games free?

Also he was wondering if there would be an easy way to unroot and go back to stock. Is there an ruu or something?

Root and Rom
Unrevoked is definitely the best way to go, it is sooo easy. Then after its rooted you are pretty much free to do whatever. I used Rom Manager (Premium version, its only a few bucks and a good way to thank the guys who made it) with that you can download and install any incredible roms you want. I recommend Warm z 2.2 , I am currently using their nightlies which are still works in progress but they are awesome. One thing to note when installing the roms is to have all your previous apps and settings backed up, then when you install wipe the cache, wipe the dalvic cache, and wipe the data for best results. Otherwise you may end up in a bootloop, which if that happens don't panic its not the end of the world. As for ways to unroot, they are out there, i just don't know them off the top of my head, nor do i see a reason to after experiencing freedom!

Back it up with TI backup, also if he purchased it then it'll stay in your market under 'my apps'. If it's a free app, then you should be able to just re-download it with no worries?
The market still shows all VZW content on rooted phones, I wouldn't see any reason why that should break.
Just make sure you fully back up your current stock ROM before rooting, you might find you forgot to back up your contacts or have a couple of apps that you forgot to backup and it's easy to restore that and go back to exactly what you had before so you don't miss anything important.
Also the app's don't root devices fully, unrevoked completely unlocks everything on the INC, you can load custom bootloaders and kernels. As far as I know there is no app available, but although unrevoked is a little more of a pain if you don't have the correct drivers at first, it's a better choice.
Hope you get to do everything you're wanting to do with the INC
Half way done! We rooted tonight and are gonna rom soon.

One more question, can I get instructions to flash cm7 from stock? We haven't done anything to it except root and use a few root apps. I only can find guides to flash from cm6 not stock. Thank you for your patience and help

Make a backup in CWM (reboot to it through ROM Manager) and then boot again, use MyBackup Root from the Market to back up all data (photos are not necessary to back up) and then reboot to CWM and wipe data and cache 3x each, then flash cm7 then gapps

So I don't need a new radio or anything? Nice! Could I just use rom manager to automate this?
Sent from my rooted/gingerbread/fast/awesome droid x
Anyone?
Sent from my rooted/gingerbread/fast/awesome droid x
No you don't need a different radio, I'm using the stock one (7.28) right now and its working great. And yes, you can use rom manager to automate the process but it seems more reliable to do your flashing manually in recovery.

Superuser, Busybox, and Titanium Backup

I rooted my brothers phone for him about a year ago and I usually don't have a problem maintaining his "rootness'; except for this time.
He's running MIui and wants to switch to cyanogenmod. When he goes into titanium backup, he's getting a message that says "sorry, I can not acquire root privelages. This application *not* work. Please verify that your rom is rooted and includes busy box and try again".
I went to the superuser app and made sure he had root privelages, which he does, and also downloaded a busybox installler from the market and it is said he already had a busybox installed but i reinstalled it and the application said it has successfully installled. Yet, titanium backup continues to show the same message.
The weird part is, is that titanium backup works without a problem on sense roms.

Try hitting the problems button within TB. It will install a good version of busybox for it. It might help. Idk
Boo
Under preferences, it only offers a superuser update not a busybox
Sent from my Touchpad using xda premium
Try updating the su. Some of the first 3.0.? versions make you lose root. In the new version 3.0.? that problem has been fixed.
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
You know I just realized I still use a really old version of TB. It's probably diff now. On mine there is a button on the main Page that just says problems? which dl a compatible version of busybox. They must have changed it. Sorry man
Boo
Its updated

Problem solved: I went into titanium backup preferences and hit" force system busybox". I will give thanks to everyone who tried to help.

I knew they wouldn't have ditched that feature. They just changed the name. Glad you figured it out. I'd be lost without TB.

Doing backup from 2.2 to 2.4 version on G2

if i do titanium backup of my phone that is S-OFF rooted running android 2.2 and then restore that onto a android 2.4 G2 that has not been rooted. will that transfer my apps to the new phone or not? i'm not sure how that works so i'm asking. or would i have to do a clockwork backup? sorry, a bit noobish here regarding that aspect. basically i'd like to transfer some of the apps that are installed on the phone to another phone, but the new phone is not rooted. not sure if it has S-OFF or not, if that even plays any role anymore.
thanks guys.
Don't know of android 2.4, but that won't matter, transferring those apps wouldn't work as you won't be able to run tb on the non rooted phone to do the restore, you also couldn't flash a .zip (if you made one) to the non rooted phone with stock recovery.
You could pull some of those .apks from the old phone and push them with adb or simply use a file manager to download, but they would have to be compatible versions that don't require root access. Even then it would only transfer the apps, nodata , so it would be the same as to download them from the market

possible. May have strange behaviors with some apps if the android versions are different.
Moved to Q&A section, please post any questions in Q&A please not General.
