Has development for the Continuum stopped completely or do we still have a dev or two?

From what I can tell, it's completely stopped... We have someone that's gonna work on our gingerbread theme, but that's about it...

It kind of sucks, But atleast somthings being done. I just wish a dev had this phone so they would want to work on it lol.

Imnuts and Adrynalyne both said they would dedicate more time to our phone if someone sent this phone to them...

I figured that it was bound to happen sooner than later but I think if samsung step in and dish out some froyo or maybe even a little bit of gingerbread that things would open up and more devs would get their hands on this ticker (which is getting kind of old BTW)

so how much money would each of us nerdy Continuum owners have to donate to purchase a Continuum somewhere?
I lament that lack of activity on this forum. Coming from an HTC Diamond and then the Hero, I have had trouble adjusting to a phone that no one has or cares about.
And what is most annoying is that this phone blows the crap out of my previous two phones.
Let's buy these friendly devs a Continuum and watch as the pleasures of Continuum ownership increase exponentially.

I'm in. Let's do it.

I'll donate too
I can't do much beyond rooting because of my parents, but it'd be nice to see some real development.

I'm in too..
All of us, lets keep our eyes open on ebay and craigslist for one... And in the mean time see if we can get all of "us" to pledge some cash

yeah realistically (after bubby closed up shop and skipped town) adryn/imnuts would need a continuum in front of them to do stuff for you.
although you guys do have a dl17 debloated rom, so thats something.
but theres no 2.2 continuum leaks/source so it would still be 2.1 stuff

did bubby every return the continuum that someone sent him to work on?

I won't lie...I've shied away because its just too risky to do what I do without a device to work with as well.

$200 bucks would get them mine. Hell im near ready to set it on fire just to make me feel better. Buying a used Incredible tonight to replace it. This includes the Multimedia Dock.

I have someone shipping me a continuum.

My Gratitude and Thanks

I know that this doesnt exactly belong here but I have pretty much lived only in the section for the last year or so. I passed the Dinc torch to my daughters greedy little hands and purchased the Bolt. This message is to say thank you... and I mean THANK YOU to all the Devs and people that have helped me with this phone and learning how to pimp the crap out of it. The amount of talent that is in this community and the willingness to help others just amazes me.
Thanks again guys
ps... I told my daughter as soon as she is eligible for a upgrade I want the Dinc back. lol. I mean it is a bad ass little phone...
Couldn't agree more. I'm here pretty much daily also.

When my upgrade comes, my dinc will maybe retire buts its a toss up..ive been to this site almost everyday for the last year...I always thought the iPhone was the **** for having the ability to be jailbroken but all this by far surpassed that...! How is the tbolt?

I know right. What a great community and fantastic developers.
I'm going to be sad when it is time to upgrade. I haven't seen any new Verizon phones with the same kind of community and amount of support yet.
Agreed. Im gonna hate upgrading when the time comes but hopefully all of you guys will be around . We should band together and upgrade concurrently. Just please don't make me get a tbolt. No battery life, ugh

Its a awesome community for sure. But dont be to quick to judge the bolt. I was kinda the same way but since Ive rooted a couple days ago and slapped on BAMF Remix my battery life has been pretty dam good. And I dont turn off the 4g. If you really want it to last turn it off. Its only used when your surfing, dling or streaming anyway. Im very pleased. But again thanks for all the help guys.
Totally feelin' you bro. This place is ill fo sho. I'm up in here all day searching for updates on what the hell ever. XDA FTW.
I'm keeping my dinc til it breaks. Then moving over to my spare dinc. I'm dinc for life. And on here everyday. Searching and reading up on themes and such..

I have had my Inc since the day it came out. I remember asking to pre-order it, and getting looked at weird as if I made up the name or was plain high. Looking back I am still amazed at how secret the phone was. It barely got publicity.
My Inc has been through at least 10 different ROMs, all sorts of kernels, and the occasional boot loop (my fault of course). I am with everyone here. You devs are amazing! It is all of you and your close knit community that makes it difficult to even think of ditching my phone. I am thinking Droid Bionic, but maybe I will hang onto my Inc just in case someone figures out how to get sense 3.0 and honeycomb to be fully functional on it, and knowing some devs here, probably get 4G running on the thing
I've had my incredible since december after trading it for the droid 2(rooted was little scared of doing so but i did with z4root) and i didnt really see the point of rooting it and i didnt use wireless tether so i unrooted. I thought moto blur was ugly to and felt that htc sense was so much faster and smoother and aestheticly appealing than blur that i decided to trade it for the incredible. Had my incredible for a week and decided to root it ( i was little scared but in the end i rooted it). Flashed A custom rom and fell in love. Around March i got interested in theming and made my own stock theme for warm z and then around april i got interested in getting uber z backup and running and i did that to and now im deving for it. The DINC has taught me so have the devs and today i learned a lot aswell trying to get the app drawer transparent took me 24 hours of trial and error. This is a great device and unless it breaks beyond belief im not upgrading. Flashed all the roms available on every forum not just xda on this bad boy.Thats basically my story with the inc lol

Perm Root coming...

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1115210\
I saw this not too long ago and I think this is great news, I'm glad to see progress. Since the Inc 2 and Inc S are basically the same, we should have perm root very soon I hope.
...tick tock.

It's looking more and more promising for the IS and I will definitely check it out for the I2.
Looking forward to our phones getting some attention. I'll put my $$ where my mouth is when we get some Devs leading the charge here in the forums. Not sure who to throw my support to yet. I just got my Inc2 today on a Dinc insurance replacement. I'm loving the phone so far, and can just imagine the potential it has when people start developing for it. Let's get some community going here, and get some coffee $$ to these guys when the dust starts to settle.

As do I. I am getting the DInc2 today and am anxious about when perm root becomes available.
Anyone else a little worried that some sites are offering the DInc2 at discount prices now? And does anyone know if the DInc has the memory that the Desire doesn't making it a viable candidate for Gingerbread?
Yeah, my kid bro just got 2 of these Incredible 2 phones (one for him and one for his wife) for $99 each at a Verizon kiosk at the mall. It does seem like they are not selling well and may discontinue them. They got the replacement insurance so if HTC does stop selling them hopefully he can get new phones that don't have locked bootloaders.
What is interesting to me is that I have a Droid X and even though my phone has a locked bootloader I can still get custom ROMs and still obtain ROOT on the X whereas the D-Inc 2 doesn't seem to be getting any love from the folks at XDA. I feel bad for my bro since he was so excited about getting an android phone after having a iPhone 3G for a while with AT&T.
Oh well, I guess we can only hope that HTC will send out an update or something to unlock these phones (bootloaders) so maybe it will get some XDA love.

HTC has changed their stance on the Desire and is working on a Ginger Bread update with certain programs removed. The issue with the Desire was that the ROM capacity was only 512, I dont believe it is a RAM issue. I dont know how much ROM the inc2 has.

It has 768gb of RAM.
Yes but Rom and Ram are different. One is read only memory and one is random access memory. The Rom would contain all the system data for the new Sense and Gingerbread. Thats why I was wondering how much Rom it has?
This threads getting a bit off topic..
Still off topic but maybe this phone isn't selling cause Verizon isn't advertising it...
This phone is just as powerful as the thunderbolt but without 4g...it really upsets me cause this phone is a very good phone...hit as good as anything out...

[Q] Should I open my new Galaxy S 2?

So I ordered this phone, it's sitting here in the box...I am coming from the Vibrant...**** gps and now no 911 calls on 2.3/cm7/miui...
Was on monthly contract expired...signed 2yr to get this phone at 333 overnighted+tax...haven't opened it yet..I guess as soon as I do, I actually sign the contract?
Only thing is I'm not too happy about spending money on a phone that has basically only 2 roms available both stock looking GB...I am so used to the beautiful look of miui, not to mention the built in backup that has failed 0 times...its so flawless, anytime I flashed a new miui variant, it took 5 minutes to get all my apps/settings/alarm back to what it was...lockscreen music controls...custom boot animations, status bars...well everything...
Reason I am debating is, when I got the vibrant home a few weeks after it came out there was like a hundred roms available...here..not the case...and I am not writing this as any kind of a knock against the devs that ARE actually working on this phone, so please don't take it that way. I just want to be sure that there are things to come for this phone. The vibrant was a horrible experience as far as updates and Sources from samsung...already I see the ATT ver of this has ICS...again ALREADY t-mo's phone is behind...will this trend continue?
Thoughts?
You don't deserve this phone. Send it back. Now!

Did u read the whole post...I specifically said this is no way a knock on the devs that ARE actually dev. for the device...sorry If i came across bad, but I was looking for feedback from someone who has something constructive to say to my specific situation...
Send it back and put the 333 and your time into learning some of this and then you won't have to wait...you could contribute.

Is this phone going to have all the devs and rom's the vibrant had? Maybe not. A lot of people supported the vibrant and there were not as many phone choices. Android phones have expanded with more choices so the devs are more spread out. Does this phone have good roms? Yes, yes it does. And I bet more to come. Should you open your phone? Probably not since usually every time someone post something like this they turn out to be rom and dev bashers and trolls. Trade it for an amaze if your in doubt. Or appreciate what is here and have fun.

First of all guyz, lay off.. He's not being a mcdouche he's just really worried!
I was too bro.. I came to this phone from the nexus s and at first I was like.. Wtf?? 4 roms? No ics? This was about 2 weeks ago. After spending some time with beastmod though, there is no more looking back.. It's beautiful, blazing fast.. Battery will rape the galaxy s battery.
Keep in mind that this phone is only a few months old so things will pick up. There is a cm9 in the works and an miui rom as well... Unless you have way to get a galaxy nexus, this is the phone to have.. Do yourself a favor and open that box!
Your contract and buyers remorse period starts when fedex/ups drops it at your door not when you open your phone.
I Actually on tmobile USA you can return the phone within 14 days of getting it

Actually on tmobile USA you can return the phone within 14 days of getting it
Edit: even if you open it up believe
Coming from the Evo 3D forums to here all I see are POS's and rude people.
But to be honest I would wait until you can get it for cheaper if you really really want it.
$333 is A LOT, they had the whiter version for $99 on contract a day or two ago.
As for the dev for the phone it gets better, when I got the GSM e3d it had nothing....after a month it had a great amount of tweaks and roms
look, if you are on t-mobile you basically have two options unless you want to buy a gsm unlocked phone such as the nexus. Amaze or GSII neither have ICS. We have a cm dev with an alpha cm7 and is working on cm9. Does amaze have that? I prefer sense over touchwiz but use go launcher and don't see much touchwiz anyway. How many roms do you need? I had an evo 4g before this which has a crapload of roms but really you had sense, aosp cm based, miui.
You can wait for the next phone but when will that be? next month? spring? summer?

There's actually 4.5 roms here, you have stock(and the updated stock), cm7, juggernaut, beastmod, and a half working miui build.
On the nexus s you have vanilla android, cm7(vanilla android though it's definitely the best vanilla android), ICS(vanilla android) and miui.
Looks fairly even to me...any touchwiz roms on the Nexus S? Where's the real variety?

Well, I think you should return it, i wish i could return mine ( bought a month ago, $570)
for monthly4g $30 plan. First because the screen and lines really piss me off, and i think me buying a vibrant would of have been a better choice and upgrading my pc with the rest of the money. I'm 15 so $570 was alot of savings. If you work i guess buying it off contract and getting monthly4g wouldnt be much a loss as you would have no contract.
Also, the roms here piss me off to, and accessories available and how the colors, build quality is higher on my old $200 prepaid phone.
Edit: Also, coming from the Optimus V roms, I had alot more roms and even miui on there, just stock upgraded here.
Hey, guys. He was looking for opinions, not a lynch mob. Stop going on the offensive because some people have the gall to give a little criticism toward the phone you have - it makes the community seem worse in everyone else's eye. This isn't 4chan, and there's no need for such rude behavior.

Bye all, thanks and good luck.

It's been a month, and having no further evidence that a software exploit for permanent root/unlocked bootloader is near being released, I'm dumping my HTC One. Hate to have to leave HTC, but with carrier restrictions and not having the ability to customize my device without sending it 2000 miles away, I'm not going to sit on this phone and watch it die for 6 months, then be stuck with it.
I've debated back and forth, and refuse to send my device out to get S-off. I don't think many developers are going to be interested enough to buy the device if they don't already have it knowing this is the only option of doing so. But I do thank Sonic for helping a lot of us out.
Thanks for the help most of you have given me, good luck, and hopefully an exploit comes out by Friday morning.
Have fun. Good luck

After being a crack flahser for 2 years, I decided that I was spending 6-8 hours per week flashing ROM's. Why, because I could. Other than the few customizations I did, my primary use for an unlocked and rooted phone was to use Google Wallet. Since my new CC offers me an NFC card, I don't even need Wallet. That said, I purchased the One as I wanted a FAST phone without having to tweak it and spend hours unlocking and swapping ROMS.
Point being, the ONE may not be the phone for you if you want to unlock it and customize it further. This is one of those things that you should have been aware of when you purchased it. If knowing there was no exploit availble, and you purchased it with the hopes that there would be, that was your mistake and I agree, you should get rid of it. NEVER purchase a device that has not already been exploited if you like to flash ROMS.

For all of you that are dumping your Ones for something else BYE . But Im almost possitive there is an exploit for this device and it will not be released untill the 4.3 update rolls out so that it dont get patched , thas my two cents . If after the release there is no exploit , I will then send my SEXY Blue BEAST out to Sonic and let him sprinkle some magic on it , and then we will have Tranquil on our Ones.

This. The only things that bother me with sense is the cluttered status bar, the wifi persistent notification, and few other other things.
I just picked up my One last night, having been swayed by the irresistible Best Buy price this week. I'm coming from a Thunderbolt, which was my first Android phone and one on which I had a lot of fun learning to root and ROM. I did that to my heart's content on that phone.
Having said that, I came over to this device because, well, yeah, the price... but also because it's such a massive hardware upgrade over the Tbolt. I moved over to this phone with my eyes wide open. I know there's no exploit at present for the One, and I accept that there may never be one. I'm not crazy about Sense, so one of the first things I did was to run Nova Launcher. Bye bye Blinkfeed, etc. I'll be fine running this phone stock unless and until.
I agree with the general consensus here: don't get a phone you won't be happy with stock.

Congrats on the major hardware upgrade I had the Thunderbolt for a little while, wasn't a big fan, then got the Rezound. Loved the Rezound. But yes, the HTC One is an amazing device, even stock. I also didn't like blinkfeed, so I am, too, using the Nova launcher.
To the OP, thanks for stopping by, good luck with you future devices. I'll hold out for a hopefull exploit after 4.3 is released, and like others have said, if that doesn't turn out, hopefully I can send my phone to Sonic to get s-off.
Should never buy a phone with the expectation that it will be unlocked. Especially in such a short time frame.
I don't think it was necessary to make a post about getting rid of your phone, but to each their own.
I hope you find the phone that works for you. Just don't buy a phone you aren't happy with out of the box. Sounds like you should either buy a nexus phone, a dev edition phone, or wait and buy a phone that the community has already exploited.

I think I agree with most people when I say this, I didn't buy the One for it's root or ROM capabilities I bought it because the phone is awesome. I personally think HTC did a great job with Sense 5, before I used this I was on the Thunderbolt and it was still a good phone I'm glad u went with HTC. The only reason I care for root now is adblock and uninstalling Verizon's apps.

Thank you
Thank you .............................
Still have confidence in XDA Dev's
I can sorta see both sides of this. To me the HTC one is the best phone I have owned BY FAR! S4 was great phone but I like the build, screen, and speaker quality of this one better.
I get the "Don't by the phone if you aren't happy running stock" line of thinking. However, I buy these phones with full confidence that XDA developers will find an exploit within a reasonably short time. Every phone I have owned way back to the Driod X were rootable within a short time. Am I wrong for thinking that?

I'm not going to tell you that you're wrong for thinking anything. You would be wrong, however, in buying a phone with expectations that devs would root the phone and then throw a fit if they don't. If you think they owe you something - I'm not saying you do - or if you think you deserve their efforts on your phone of choice then you would be wrong in that.
The advice to buy a phone you love AS-IS is great advice because if you don't get what you're hoping for, you're still good with your choice.
Is it wrong to hope the devs get you squared away quick? No. Is it wrong to demand it of them? Yes.

Hey HTC one owners

I just added a line to get the blue model from best buy and my other phone is an s4 rooted and unlocked. I know this one isn't but so far this one beats my s4 by responsiveness and smoothness. Barely any lags which my s4 had quite a bit. Love this phone.

We need a thread for this?
Seriously. It doesn't even make sense in English.

Some people just like to communicate with others of similar interests and feel that a forum is the perfect place for this.

Until a public root tool is available, I'm cool with almost any form of communication in this cell phone forum haha

I did the same exact thing. Same exact phones. Really glad I got the One.
Yes I love it. It's fast smooth. I love the aluminum feel of the phone. I love the external speakers. And beats

As solid as this phone is, compared to the S4, I felt I didn't need a case for that phone and could toss it around, with the htc one it's like a baby, I am very gentle, just ordered a cruzerlite case, gotta love amazon points, $16 item shipped for $1.46
Just finished setting everything up, migrating from a Galaxy Nexus.
Phone is rock solid however all the bloatware + HTC Sense is killing this device.
Can't wait for root, I really really hate Verizon's crapware!
Glad to have you guys here in the community!
S-OFF is coming alive thanks to Sonic, hoping to get a card myself to help the remainders and those not willing to ship phone as far.
I just don't want to take a $1,300 loss...

Those cards are that ... wallet thumping? Good lord, either way there's got to be some way to jack it aside from the card. I mean, look at crApple products like the iPod and iPhone, even those can be modified (even if it's next to pointless anyways). I remember a couple years back they said that the HTC HD7s wouldn't ever be "unlocked" but alas it was. And some of those modifications to the Windows based OS were really cool. Aside from all that though; if you're close to me I'd drive there and get it done and drop a few bones your way for the service of course. But I believe someone out there has at least figured out a little bit. There's got to be something, if we can "hack" the PSP, we can sure "hack" this phone. lol
Yeah man I read that the prices were high for a 500-credit card, which can do 250 S-Offs at 2 credits a piece. Still that's brain-cramp inducing. I'd buy a couple credits to get mine S-Off'ed but I can't be without my phone for what will wind up being about 10 days between shipping and waiting for it to be processed. Kind of wish I'd hung onto my RAZR M for a couple weeks. lol
I can't be without my phone. I got a One without there being a known unlock because I can live with Sense. Swapped my Galaxy S4 for one when Amazon marked the Droid MAXX as "we don't know if we'll get this in stock again or not". Bleah. Anyway I love the One, way more responsive than the S4 I returned. Gonna hang onto this baby for a while.
I might buy a card and set a day to have everyone close meet at like a Starbucks in NYC, it would save stress, time, money (shipping to and from) you also not without your phone for 4-10 days and it never leaves your sight, you can watch me do S-OFF.
