I used File Manager (free version) to put the attached Email.apk in system/app directory. In the settings of file manager, make sure root check box is checked. then copy and paste the apk file. then restart the phone.
I am using darky's 9.3 final version ROM.
Hope this will help you guys those who still looking around to setup your free email clients in your galaxy s.

In my case the bottom part of mails from gmail were never displayed hence I'd to switch to K9
AFAIK: This already exists.

Thank you!
I was trying for a log time to use yahoo mail, but i was to lazy to solve it myself!
Thanks again.

Works perfect on Darky 9.3. Thanks alot

So,what about Gmail account?May I delete it?And use only my POP3.Somebody tried this in DocRom XWJS7 so far?

You don't need to do manual setup for Gmail. It should work. If you are having problem, then you use following settings:
Select as IMAP account
Incoming server: imap.gmail.com
Port: 993
Outgoing server: smtp.gmail.com
Port:465
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App

I have problems with hotmail
I did it with gmail and all OK but with Hotmail as exchange account dont work say conecction error. With pop3 show me all the mails but not syncronize.
Sorry for my english
Carlos

Incoming Server settings:
User name: (your email address)
Password: (your email password)
IMAP Server: po.xxxxxx.com (xxxxxx = your email client)

Outgoing Server settings:
SMTP Server: smtp.xxxxxx.com (xxxxxx = your email client)

Try it again. It should be working.

I forgotten to highlight that you need to select IMAP account to setup your POP3 account

What about folders and subfolders
Hi,
how this app is dealing with mail folders? I had installed Galaxy TAB mail via SGS tools, so only inbox was woRking fine.
Thanks,
Rolandas

It is working for all folders. You may try to install this tab email as I suggested in this topic above.

how to set up 2 hotmail account?

my t-mobile touch pro 2 only allow me to set up one hotmail e-mail account a time, so i need to log out one and sign in again to check other hotmail e-mail. is there away i can set up and view 2 or more hotmail at the same time?
Don't use MSN Messenger or Windows Live to create Hotmail Accounts
Don't use MSN to create the account... set it up manually in Pocket Outlook (and don't let it look for settings). To do this you might need to put a different domain for your email address in the first box when creating an account and then ammend it later.
Then use Hotmail/Live/MSN pop3 & Smtp settings:
Incoming Server (POP3 Server): pop3.live.com
Incoming Server POP SSL Encryption: Yes (On or Required)
Outgoing Server (SMTP Server): smtp.live.com
Outgoing Server Authentication: Yes (On – Use POP username and password or Hotmail credentials)
Outgoing Server TLS or SSL Secure Encrypted Connection: Yes (On or Required)
User Name: Windows Live ID (e.g. [email protected])
Password: password used to sign in to Hotmail or Windows Live service
Or what about System Seven?
I use it and I believe it'll let you set up multiple accounts with multiple flavours and will push your emails so they arrive like sms, live.
VERY easy to set up and use. All you have to do is enter your address and password. Only down side is that it occasionally forgets Hotmail (but not other providers in my experience) passwords. But you just have to type it in again.
But it's beta, so it's not meant to be perfect. But it is free and I definitely recommended it.
Google it
That works! thanks

Mail

Ok, I'm sure the best advice is to not use yahoo mail at all, but after upgrading to cm6 from stock rooted rom, I can't for the life of me get my yahoo mail account to work with the aosp email app. Has anyone else figured out how to do this? Of course, accessing yahoo mail on the browser is always an option, but I like the automatic notifications. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
i had this problem too. it work initially and now the email app will tells me i have and invalid username and password.
i eventually downloaded the yahoo mail app from the market but i would much prefer to use the stock. ultimately i think to use the stock app, we"ll have to subscribe to yahoo plus.
anyone fix this yet?
Do manual set up and try these settings:
Incoming
Imap server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
Security type: ssl
Server port: 993
Outgoing
Smtp server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Security: ssl
Server port: 465
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Also, i recommend using maildroid

I'm using the same rom and need to setup my school email address. CM6 only give me option of setting up Microsoft Exchange or Google. I need the option to setup OTHER so I can manually input the settings. I'm guessing it's missing in this ROM but is there an app I can download to setup my school email (i have the manual settings)?

[Q] CM6 (Yahoo Account)

I have CM6 installed on my DInc, I set up my Google Account, but I can't get my Yahoo account set up. It keeps saying "Invalid username or password" - but it is correct.
Any ideas?
yahoo for some reason syncs only over 3g, not wifi. there is a workaround by changing the smtp server settings etc. search the forum and you will find it.
Dang, I've been searching for a while, before I post this, I can't find anything.
EDIT:
Do I just do this?
How to set up Yahoo! IMAP email (non-root solution)
This does not require Yahoo! Plus Mail, the paid service of Yahoo! mail.
1. From the home screen, pull up the applications tab (at the bottom of the screen)
2. Touch Email
3. Touch Manual Setup at the bottom left corner
- Select the IMAP option
4. In the incoming server settings, enter the details as follows:
Username: [email protected] (enter your complete yahoo email address)
Password: enter your yahoo password
IMAP Server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
Port: 143
Security Type: None
IMAP Path Prefix: leave blank
5. Touch next to continue to SMTP Server Settings and enter the details as follows:
SMTP: smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com
Port: 587
Security Type: None (Checkmark ***8220;required sign-in***8221
Username: [email protected] (enter your complete yahoo email address again)
Password: enter your yahoo email password again
6. Touch Next
7. Fill out your personal information (Name etc.)
(If you are having problems be sure that WiFi is OFF then try again)
Yes. I believe that's it. It should work over wifi too

Oh yes, I spent over an hour online trying to make that work, and even called up my school's tech support desk. No luck.
I tried on the droid email app, another one I can't remember, and k-9. I couldn't make it work. I eventually synced it to my gmail, tagged all the mail coming in TO that address into it's own folder with a filter to bypass inbox, they have settings and whatnot for all that, you'll also be able to send email as that email address without logging into outlook. I haven't tried that last part on the native, I've just been using k9. It's like I have two separate email addresses in one app,
I have a hot mail alias still in outlook dunno if it matters but I used under domain \[email protected] and for server m.hotmail.com which the email app changed to snt-m.hot mail.com.
Also this is configured as exchange.
Anyhow its working.
ok, here is the solution.....
Add email account
First type in your new renamed email address : emailaddress @outlook . com and password : your password.
Hit next and select POP.
Now follow the settings below.
Incoming settings:
username: emailaddress @ outlook . com
password: your password
pop3 server: pop3.live.com
port: 995
security type: SSL/TLS
Delete email from server: never
Outgoing Settings:
SMTP Server: smtp.live.com
Port: 587
Security Type: STARTTLS
Require Sign-in: YES
Username: same as username above
Password: same as above
VOILA !!!!
hit "thanks" if it works.., its free
