[BOUNTY] Thread for porting fm radio to GT - Galaxy Tab Android Development

We all know that the chipset is in there and that other devices have succesfully been enabled. I would like to get fm for the GT. I think this feature needs more exposure to succeed. Others have come close.
If there already is a thread let me know.
$50 for a working fm radio.

I too am looking fro FM Radio Software but am not sure if this can be achieved without in-built FM detector hardware.
Help please...
I also need to know about the FM Radio.. Because i searched but i found nothing.. please Help us!!
as stated without the fm hardware only way to get fm is to get a headset which include fm
which would not be controlled or anything by the phone but by the headset itself

[Q] N7105 LTE: Hardware for FM?

Hi guys,
Just got my Note 2 (LTE: N7105, Singapore - Starhub). I was surprised to see that it was missing an official FM app. All specifications that I have read pointed out that N7105 has a radio hardware. Xda search revealed that many are facing this same issue. Probably pointing it out as Telco's strategy to force ppl to use data for streaming.
I tried to use the Spirit UL FM app with no success. It says it cannot tune [Error: No FM accessible ; SU:1 Fm:BC Su:0 Bt:1 Ht:0 Mo:BCU].
I want to know the real situation and your views,
(1) Does N7105 (LTE) have hardware for radio (FM)?
(2) If yes, will flashing a custom ROM (that has access to FM) help?
What might be the reason behind Samsung not providing a stock FM / not having the hardware?

Anyone?

Does Spirit FM app work with root?

My G4 is on its way.
I was wondering if anyone can confirm we can reenable the FM functionality with root?
Such as using the Spirit FM app?
Nobody? Need some help to verify this. Otherwise I have no reason to root..
come on guys, for anyone with a root G4 (At&t, Tmo or Vzn).... it is a quick check.
Spirit1 and Spirit2 say they're for AOSP roms only, so probably not. I'm not going to pay the $9 to find out.
Tried nextradio and it doesn't see the receiver. (Rooted US Tmobile) I believe I earlier possibly saw an item on a hidden menu that referred to the receiver, not sure if this could possibly turn the fm receiver chip back on.)

FM Radio Chip

I have been told that the G4 contains this chip but AT&T has not activated it for anyone. Is there any way to do this? Not to familiar with it at all, I know some versions have it but some don't.
I've read all kinds of things about it, some say that the Carrier's will actually short or remove connections from the FM chip so there is basically no way to enable it. I don't know what is fact and what is speculation. I don't think anybody does to be honest. Short of the carriers engineers.
That being said I was looking at the build prop file and noticed a line that said ro.fm.transmitter=false
I'm really tempted to change the false to true, but I don't want to mess anything up. That, and it can't be that simple. If it was, someone would've figured it out by now.

I have a H815K phone on Telstra, and it has a FM Radio application, and can use FM Radio.

This setting is for an FM transmitter which is not present in any variant of G4 - meaning it does not transmit the audio FROM the phone to the external FM receiver (remember? some Nokias had this in the past).
There is no setting in build.prop in my D815 EU for FM radio. I suppose it's actually removed from the software. There isn't any separate audio chip - it's built into Qualcomm. Firmware disables it. Perhaps there is an entry in the MISC partition (mmcblk0p22) which configures all features (have taken a look in a HEX editor but no apparent entry for FM radio).

FM Radio Now Fully Working and App Included (Pie)

This is a Biggie for some folk, and me included.
Very pleasant surprise to see it there now, the QMMi temporary 'fix' wasn't very good at all, but this seems great so far.
Works great, even better than the QMMI fix. Does anybody know of any FM Radio apps that have RDS or Preemphasis settings (not internet radio)?
