like Chongo said. And it's not even really a "hard case". it's a double layer case.... with one layer being capable of attracting lint from alternate dimensions. I don't often use cases.... but to be completely honest, i'm much happier with this slim case i got off of eBay for a few bucks that i've been using for about 2 weeks than i was with the Defender that i used for a day.

Nice, yeah if you need form fitting then otterbox is not for you. I work in nightclubs often so I use it for then but other then that I keep her naked... I love this phone.

I got the body glove when I bought the phone. I is very well made and fits great. it is pretty thin, so it doesn't bulk the phone up too much. I also bought the leather case (att premier store for 20 bucks) with the magnet that puts the phone to sleep when you close it. nice feature. swivel ratcheting belt clip. It fits the bare phone nice and snug. It is supposed to work with tight fitting covers, but I can't see one being thinner than the body glove, and that will not slide into the case well at all. way to hard to get back out. I do reccomend the body glove for a thin rubbery case, though.

im not trying to insult because you might have got a better product then me but i cannot recommend the body glove TPU. Ive had it since ive got the phone in december and it my opinion its not very good. its a pain in the ass to clip together (on the top) and the clips that hold it together have broken pretty easy. I still use it because im careful with my phone and i dont really wanna waste money on another case but when i do drop my phone the stupid case splits apart and flys in different directions leaving my phone completely unprotected. Also the covering on the hard plastic doesnt stay on for long and ive never gotten it wet. This is just my opinion no need for hate.

The body glove tpu case is one piece of thermoplastic. There are no clips. You pull the whole case over the phone. You are describing another bodyglove case I guess.
:edit: The proper name of the body glove tpu case is "Body Glove Mirage" if there is any doubt which case we are discussing

well i googled body glove tpu and the case that comes in two peices showed up first so i thought that was what u were talking about
Do you even know what TPU thermoplastic is? Hint: its not hard plastic
No tpu case would ever have tabs

I love my seidio case.
+1 Body glove Body Glove Black TPU.
It is more resilent to stretching than silicon and is easy to take from your pocket.
Does any other case have as low a profile as the Body Glove? Does anyone other than them make a TPU case? I've seen some no-name brand TPU cases on ebay but they're a little gaudy for my tastes.

Best Protector Case for a captivate

Hi, i was wondering about which case buy and want to see your opinions about the best case for the cappy.
I've been watching the Trident Clyclops: http://www.cyclopscase.com/products/Trident-Cyclops-Protective-Case-for-Samsung-Captivate--Red.html
And also the otterbox http://www.otterbox.com/samsung-captivate-cases/samsung-captivate-cases,default,sc.html.

I had issues getting to the four buttons with the Otterbox Defender. Nevertheless, in terms of protection, I trust them wholeheartedly.
Anyone has tested the Trident?
In addition to otterbox and cyclops look at the seidio active x.
this one http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/csk3sscap-rd.htm? i like the desing
I just had my second Otterbox holster break. They replaced the first one without batting an eye. I haven't had a chance to call about #2, but frankly I'm not sure if I want to risk it. Fortunately the phone fell out while I was driving my car, not my motorcycle, but I'm not sure I want to risk it again.
So far it's the only case I've tried.
I hate to buck the trend, but I really like the cheap TPU eBay cases. I know, I know, some of us think you need to spend a lot to pamper your Cappy, but I do have my reasons.
They are cheap. I'm big on spending less than $5 for things.
TPU is a great blend of rigidity and pliability. I think silicone is a touch too soft to disperse impact energy, and hard plastic transmits the energy to the phone and often breaks in the process.
They are slick, but easy to hold. I carry my phone in my pocket. I think holsters look kinda dumb. TPU is generally very smooth and slides in and out of a pocket very nicely.
They are thin. Many of the hard molded cases turn your sexy-thin Captivate into a non-sexy blob, cool molded patterns notwithstanding. Lots of the silicone cases have kind of a shapeless look that I don't like.
I've been using a plain black TPU case for a while now, and I get lots of comments on how thin my phone is. I've also dropped it several times with no ill effect, except a less shiny spot on one corner of the cover. No complaints, and I really have a hard time imagining how the expensive ones are better.
TPU is nice and much, much better than silicone. I wish otter/seidio/trident would use TPU. I have a thin TPU case (body glove) and like it alot. Its just sometimes I want the thicker, two layered plastic and rubber case which is why I also have the seidio active.
The first case I bought was the pdair aluminum which would be a nice case but it kills the cellular signal so I can't recommend anyone buy it. Wifi works fine so if I ever travel somewhere I won't have service I plan on using it.
I like my Bodyglove case just fine. I've used it since the launch of the cappy and couldn't be happier. It's more rigid than silicone and less bulky than the otterbox. I've dropped my cappy numerous times on pavement, and as long as a jutting edge doesn't hit the screen it won't break. There is a slight lip on the front of the body glove that makes it so the screen doesn't hit when dropped on a flat surface.

Last I checked, Otterbox only has the Commuter for the S2, ATM.
Body Glove
I have bought like 5 cases for my cappy, the Otterbox, Body Glove, a slim hard plastic snap on case and a full hard snap on case.
In the end my 2 favorites are the Body Glove and the Slim snap on that snaps only on the back.
The otterbox case is nice, it is just too bulky. I use the Body Glove daily because it protects from impact, is not bulky and slides in and out of the pocket easy.
Moving forward I am all about the TPU cases.
I use this case http://www.seidioonline.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=BD2-HK3SSCAP-BK
Look on ebay, I've seen these for $35. Dropped the phone twice and there's no damage on the phone at all.
I use the otterbox commuter with an invisible shield screen protector. I work with concrete and often get my phone cpvered with dust and grime. The case gets really dirty but when I remove it the phone is still perfect. I would take this case over the bulky defender version.

Hard case with a holster or a belt clip (smaller than the Defender)

I am trying to find for a nice hard case, but for me the option to wear the phone on the belt is important. So I am looking for something slimmer than the Otterbox Defender but with more or less the same functionality. I saw a lot of hard cases around and still non offers the combination of a case and a belt clip (other than the Defender - I had it for a couple of days and it is fat to bulky for my taste)
So I am opened for suggestions - please share your information. Any advice is appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

I think you can try some metal case. But the finishing of the metal case on the market can be terrible. Don't try those case listed on EBAY. They are cheap but bad. Thick metal layer and poor finishing. Also they are not as hard as the metal you are used to know.

Thanks for the answer - in my opinion the metal cases do not provide the necessary protection - you need a soft plastic part to absorb the shock of a fall and a hard one to take the initial blow
And the hybrid cases provide really nice protection - but most of them are too bulky. And a belt clip is an important part as well
Here is a case that fits your description. Had one on my inspire for a while And liked it.

The Seidio cases offer what you're looking for. If you don't like the Surface, the Active series would better suit your needs since has the softer cover and the harder shell as well as a holster. There's also a version that comes with a metal kickstand

I had the same case for the s2. Ive been through 2 of them in a months time. The clip will snap off if there is any kind of a harder bump while clipped onto your belt. I would pass on it. Spend a little more money for a nicer case that wont break on ya right away.
Thank you all for the suggestions and comments. So I think I will go in the direction of Seidio - does anyone know the dimensions of the active and the surface cases?
How much bigger is the active case?
I was unable to find the dimensions on the web page

I had the Seidio surface from Best Buy but 1) It was very slick and would slip out of your hands 2) Didn't have a kickstand. I went with the Seidio active from Versio Mobile.Com and couldn't be happier. It is a 2 part case, isn't that much bigger, or heavier and has the kickstand. Also the entire phone is covered where as with the surface case it didn't. Additionally the cut out for the MICRO/MHL plug is bigger on the active which will enable you to use more charging cables. The hole on the surface case only allowed me to use the Samsung cable.

I paid 38 shipped... not sure why they want 60 now only 3 weeks later...

D3o cases are junk. Especially the ones with the softish plastic backing. The all black one piece is alright, but still junk.
The ones with the colored plastic backing are prone to cracking just be taking off the case. Big no-no since I wash my case periodically.
On top of that, the 3.5mm slot is too small. Only slim jacks fit while the d3o case is on. I'm not willing to change my Sennheisers just because design flaws of the case.
Don't forget how much force it takes to push the power button. Over time, this can damage the power button by recessing it in. I switched to the white body glove. Its properly designed and does what I need it do.

I purchased the white body glove case from tmobile store and its doing the job. I've dropped the phones a couple of times already, and its still doesnt show any scratches unless your eyeball is touching the case.

Case with holster (sorry for another case thread)

Hey everyone,
I am looking for some feedback on this case: http://www.ebay.com/itm/390492036942?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
Or point me in a direction of someone who make a case with a holster. I really like the UAG case but I don't want a case and then buy an even bigger holster to put the phone on my side.
Any help is appreciated!
Thank you
imo dont expect top notch quality with those china items.. the Ballistic SG series has holster, the OB defender (imo its ugly) lol..
http://www.goballisticcase.com/products/samsung-galaxy-s-3-ballistic-sg-maxx-series-case
I have been through about 6 cases.
I wanted full coverage with a holster. Sadly most cases that offer decent protection add a ton of bulk.
This Ballistic case adds very little bulk. Your phone still feels slim and comfortable. The Otterbox adds way too much bulk and the built-in screen protector is garbage. The Ballistic screen protector is a separate piece and can be left out. It is still not the clearest.
If you want options in a case then go with this:

It has a hard shell for everyday. Then a silicon surround and plastic exo skeleton.

The GS3 otter box defender holster looks to have the same sort of phone-side clip as the incredible s does. It's incredibly fragile and will break off if you look at it funny. I went though 3 of the holsters in a matter of months (their warranty service is top notch at least) before giving up on it and using a commuter case with a pouch holster until I replaced that phone.
I just ordered a seidio extended battery and one of their active cases, so I'll give my opinion of it when it arrives. The clip is an entirely different design.

yeah i read about the fragile clip and about the rubber getting loose in few weeks. Thats the reason i asked for a refund from the seller on ebay. But overall I dont like the case much. I would give the ballistic a try.
