[Q] Sprint Discounts...Where to get one? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've read random posts throughout threads from people asking about discounts or people saying where you can find one. I personally have a 25% discount from a thread on slickdeals.net that went into effect in June. I am unsure if the deal I got is still good but I'll post the link at the bottom. I've also seen threads like the 23% off student rate discount but not all schools are eligible.
I recently found out a friend was paying almost $250 for 4 lines and I've been looking around trying to find some way of lowering that for her. I'm sure everyone here would appreciate some way of lowering their bill though so that's why I'm posting this.
The inspiration for this thread came from some posts I read in the CM7 thread and I thought it would help to open the question up to the entire community. Does anyone have any discounts they know of that haven't been previously mentioned?
As many know, Sprint changed their Terms of Service to only discount the first 2 lines

Check with your employer. Mine gives me 25% for being employee. Most Sprint dealers have a book with thousands of employer discounts

I get 25% off for a fireman discount...also no taxes and it's a government account rather than a regular

Working for Wells Fargo gets you a 27% discount.

Sprint percentage discounts or NVPs now come with two year contracts. They are now officially checking socials before applying the discounts.

It really depends on who you talk to. If you go in the store they maybe will be a bit more leinent to get the discount. IF you are looking to upgrade soon or add a line I know starting sunday that are doing instant rebates.

When I worked for a Sprint store, a few moons ago (now I install the towers) we had a list of company's that offered discounts, the percentage, and the code to put on your account. As a salesman if your gonna be adding a line, or upgrading your phone to a phone that has an awesome "spiff" I was gonna go on that list and give you some kinda discount. Those days are probably done. When I left there were the 2 billing systems and migrating everyone over. But I am sure with a little persuading the right sales person can get you a discount if they are gonna gain from it...

I found this info about 2 years ago. The method I am posting works for either Time/Warner or Cox Communications. If you follow the directions you can receive upto a 27% discount like me. I personally used these basic directions to set up my discount. I don't know about the the time warner discount personally but according to the post I read it works in the same manner. I used this method for cox communications. Due to the wording in their contract with sprint anyone qualifies.
I'm not sure if this was ever posted before but I have found a way to get up to 27% discount off most Sprint plans.
A) sign up for an AIM Mail email account
https://new.aol.com/productsweb/?promocode=825960&ncid=txtlnkuswebr00000040
B) go to the corp discount page on the sprint site and enter your aim mail account as your business email address.
http://sprint.p.delivery.net/m/p/nxt/ais/wdyw.asp?id12=UHPCHP_Link_EmployeeDiscounts
Sprint will then send you an e-mail with a link to a private store that says you are a Time Warner employee and you get a 25% discount.
Plans with this discount cost less than on the current sero plans.
Remember to use coupon code save50 to get a $50 invoice credit on newservice! ( I didn't do this)
Thats it
let me know how it works out.
This takes up to 2 months to kick in. I have had this discount since 07 and it works for everyone that has tried it.
Btw I don't take credit for this exploit. I stumbled upon it.

Great post, thanks, I'm going to have to let my friend know about this one

New customers
Current customers are just going to be denied...... unless you fill out false information on your application.

I read somewhere that Sprint now does credit checks to verify. Can't find where I read that, anyone else hear/read anything about this?

Not sure, I wouldn't think they'd be able to check it and see if you actually work somewhere and are eligible for the discount.

I'd like to know this as well. I'm going over to my friends house today to help her sign up for the Time Warner discount (not very tech savvy, she gets confused easily), we'll see if it works.

Well, for the record, I was denied. I received an email saying that so-and-so sprint employee reviewed my discount request. They determined that "my current plan provides me with the best value available, making my account ineligible for the additional employee discounts I requested"... No harm done I guess.

Is it possible to lower my bill 10-15 Dollars a month?

Corporate/university discount. 'nough said.
I asked for student discount when I got my epic and the guy went "No student discounts, but do you work at CVS?" We both knew I didn't but I said yes and I got a discount of like 20% off my bill a month for 2 years.

SERO is useless. Just give the 800 number a company name like CVS or Accenture (25% off).
Ok, so if I say I work at CVS, won't they ask me to verifiy that? How can I do this?
Thanks
So If I just give them a CVS Number, they will give me a discount?

All you have to do is call them up, tell them you work for CVS, and that you were told there's a discount. They won't ask for an email or phone number. They do not verify.
Just be wary, currently we are going through accounts to verify place of employment for the NVP discounts.
They will more than likely ask you to go into a store for situations just like the ones these guys are telling you go do. Apparently they are going to start auditing all accounts with discounts to make sure they aren't fraudulent.

If you're off contract, call up retentions and threaten to cancel. They'll more than likely offer you some kind of discount. I did this back when I had to switch from SERO to a different plan in order to upgrade my phone and they offered me a $20 credit for 2 years. I don't think they offer the $20 credit anymore, but they might offer you something.

I did something similar. Patience is the key. I was asked for address and phone number of my workplace(I used I.B.M, was actually working on a research center) back in 2007....still getting 23% off. Plug away at retentions, no telling what you might get.
I wouldn't suggest lying....Seriously? lol
Just call the 1800 number and tell them you're a student, they should give you a discount. Try a few reps before you give up, some are willing to help while others...aren't so much.
I am assuming your on Sprint...
$69.99 unlimited plan is great. Then if you bank with chase they have a 27% discount. My monthly bill is roughly $62.

Sprint employee discount change

I don't know if everyone heard but if you have a employee discount with Sprint get ready to pay more than you prevously did. Sprint will start applying the discount to the primary line only, not the plan. I have the family plan thats $129 I get a 15% discount which is $19.50. When this goes into effect I will be only getting 15% on $109.
I know whooppee a few extra bucks I have to pay. But if we don't say anything next will be our unlimited data.
Thanks,

Actually it hasn't. This is a new change.
The previous change was they stopped applying the discount to lines 3-5, but they did apply it to the base plan which includes both lines 1&2.
Now they are restructuring the base plan so it only includes line 1 and splitting out line #2 separate. The purpose of this restructuring is a back-door way of reducing your discount without changing the advertised percentage discount.
This is considered an ETF waiving event by Sprint. You can leave ETF-free if you'd like.

The discount applies to the initial plan, no add ons... so as a for instance, if you are paying 129.99 for your family plan with 2 people plus you both have smart phones which would give you 2 $10 premium data charges that would bring you to a grand total of 149.99 a month before tax, now that initial 129.99 is what the discount will come off of. Also if you have more phones than that you will have your additional 19.99 per phone... the discount will come off of that as well.
EDIT: I am looking into this further, I have someone on the inside who knows all about this.
I don't think you can cancel the ETF fee with this change.

Your request has been approved and you will soon begin receiving Sprint discounts through State of New Jersey - Higher Education - NJ1 Contract, including:

These discounts are also applied to your add-on services that have a monthly service charge of $30 or more. Your discounts will be applied to the monthly service charges on the first line of your shared plane.

What will renew your contract?
a) there is a huge thread in this very forum that covered this topic.
b) discount is not contractual. You will not be able to get out of the contract ETF fee. You may with a lot of complaining and getting lucky with customer care roulette, but getting a discount is not part of your contract. You do have to re-sign a 2 year agreement if you add a discount in the middle of your current contract, and for people who did this, you may be able to use it to get out, but I am not sure.
c) All this changes is that you will no longer get your discount on an additional 19.99 of your plan. For people on the 129.99 EDS 1500 plan, you will be getting your discount on the first 110, and not the next 19.99. There is no other difference. So you will be losing 15% on the 19.99, which is 3 dollars per month.
d) Sprint will still be far and away the cheapest of any national provider (well, T-mo is close). The maximum this change will cost any customer is $6 per month, if they are on the 27% discount that a very limited number of companies offer.
e) If you are in an area where Sprint is really terrible, this is a convenient excuse to at least try and get out of your contract, but don't be upset if it doesn't work. The 2-6 bucks ain't gonna break anyone. I think you are very likely to get a $2-6 monthly recurring credit for the length of your current contract, and very unlikely to get waived without ETF.
I didn't want to quote your entire post, but in that other link that was just posted "Slick deals" I believe that I read that a few people did have their etf waived because of this.
In addition, people said that you wouldnt be able to get your etf waived the last time Sprint changed something, which I believe was this past July. And three people I know was able to get their etf's waived as well as a bunch of people around here.
It don't hurt to try and that's what I'm gonna do.

[Q?] Sprint discount for Applebees Employees?

Just call sprint and ask them to apply corporate discount to your account. They will ask for company and then attempt to verify. They usually require an email in the form of [email protected]. Most of us that are not in the corporate ranks do not have those however. In this case they can use a copy of employee id, check stub, or other methods. Shouldn't be hard to accomplish. Hope this helps.

I know that this is a old post. But the answer is YES! Disclosure: I am the National Wireless Benefits Manager at Sprint for ALL Applebee's and IHOP (regardless of Franchisee ownership), from coast-to-coast. Employees of both Applebee's and IHOP get a 17% monthly discount off eligible charges and OTHER special savings not available to general public.
This forum will not allow me to post outside link to the Applebee's and IHOP Sprint ordering site because I'm a new member. So, private message me for those links.
You can activate ANYWHERE (Best Buy, Radio Shack, even Sprint store, etc...) and get your monthly 17% employee discount code, BUT, not all specials will be available via all channels. You should complete the below steps within the first week of new activation to get your 17% code on ASAP. Retro-credits will NOT be issued/offered for any months of discount missed.
Employees that are existing customers needing discount, follow these steps:
1. Take a pic of your recent paystub (black out all sensitive info)
2. On your smartphone go to sprint.com/verify
3. Sign in with your Sprint wireless number
5. Tap / Select “Upload a photo of your proof of eligibility”
6. Select “Pay/pension stub issued within last 90 days*”
7. Next…. > Choose file… to select that pic that you took in step 1 above… and you should know what to do with the rest
The Corporate ID for Applebee’s employees is NADIN_ABE_ZZF; for IHOP is NADIN_IHO_ZZF
And yes, if your're current contract date is not within 90 days, then you will have to agree to a new 2 year contract from the point you request the monthly discount code, BUT this will NOT AFFECT your equipment upgrade eligibility date(s). For example, your existing equipment full eligibility date is 12/2/13, you apply for the 17% Applebee's Employee discount code today 10/22/13. Your new 2 year contract date will be fulfilled on 10/21/15. But when you upgrade to another equipment on 12/2/13, you will be required to agree to a new 2 year contract from that point on, so it wipes out the old 10/21/15 date and the new 12/1/15 will be in place.
Lastly: The name of the Sprint account holder DOES NOT have to be the actual employee (Applebee's or IHOP). So, long as the Applebee's or IHOP employee will declare that he/she is using as least one line on the account, he/she can follow the same steps above. This should solve any issues of the account being under the employee's spouse's, parents', relative's name, etc...

Corporate discount help

Hey guys
Looking to jump from Sprint (bad service area, was getting yearly upgrades but no longer, don't use gobs of data). I run a YMCA and have 4 lines to move. If I was an individual I could get an 8% discount as a Y employee but if I set up the account as a business account (which I have to do) I don't. Seems odd to me.
Not trying to be overly greedy. I just want to get the best deal I can but it is looking like all they are offering are waived activations and free S2's, which I would get an an individual Y person as well. I like the S2 (my current Sprint phone) but if I switch I was planning on getting the S3 and they quoted me $230.
Any advice on corporate stuff and/or saving a few bucks? I'm all about the Washingtons...

Best thing is go into a T-Mobile store and let they know your situation. Preferably speak with an assistant manager or have them contact their business to business rep. They are throwing all kinds of Deals towards businesses to activate!

Have you tried contacting their cancellation department? Similar to retention for sprint.

I didn't qualify for any discounts because I work for a small business. However, my mother works for the University of Utah Hospital, and they get a 15% discount, plus waived activation fees. The rep told me that if I make her an authorized user on the account, I can use her discount, even if she doesn't have a line. So I have a line for my wife and I, and my mom is an authorized user.
She did have to come in with her employee badge to activate the discount. And I guess if my mother and I ever had a falling out, she could close the account, or lock me out, or something crazy like that, but I am not too worried about it.
If you know you someone that you wouldn't mind making an authorized user, and they are employed by someone getting a better discount, you could try it. I know some of the better discounts are UPS, Wells Fargo, and Frito Lay to name a few.

thats what I applied
Good deal, and actually if you were to apply with a business ID I believe they use to have a 6 or 8 percent discount they would offer. Any who, good thing you got a deal.

What did you tell t-mobile? like member ID etc? All it asked for when I signed up was my email address...

What would be the point of this? Besides the head ache. You can work a little better deals if you use a tax ID to activate or do a sole proprietor where you use your social but still use the business name.

Hey guys. Sorry I disappeared right after posting for help. Vacation time and a little forgetfulness....
Update
After emailing their business support I was contacted by a local rep for business accounts. Here's is what I am being offered:
6 lines
4000 Shared minutes
5 gb data on each line
Unlimited text
~$350.00 per month (Should have exact amount tomorrow)
$150 Port in credit for each line (2 of which will go towards ETFs)
Device prices were a little "meh?" but he was going to go back and check and get exact numbers tomorrow. He did say we could get the Exihibit for free but I think the S3 price was ~ $250?
Upgrade time was 15 months but he did describe it as a scalable thing so I don't know how much that will compare with other 22 month upgrade times.
This sounds a lot better than before but I am curious to see the devices.

How to get up to $100 credit on your Sprint bill !

Just got off the phone with Sprint and successfully got a $100 credit posted on my account to help ease the pain of the $300 price tag!
I told her a friend also was interested in this promotion.
She said just call Sprint and ask for "Account Services"
Then ask about the customer loyalty credit. I have been a customer for 6 years which qualified me for $100 credit which posted to my account immediately!
My total due is now (-$100)
She said the amount of credit depends on how long you have been a customer.
Credit ranges from $25-$100.
It does not even require an upgrade.
I cant guarantee anything and I am still not sure how I pulled it off, but I think it is worth a shot to try yourself.
I have 2 lines and both are eligible for an upgrade, although she said the eligibility had nothing to do with the credit.
Now my wallet will definitely feel better when I pick up my GN2 today!!
Even if you already picked up your N2, give it a shot.
Phone number for retentions: 888-273-9460
Discounts are for the account, and not for a phone upgrade so this can be done by any Sprint customer. Make sure to specify that you are checking to see if you have a credit or discount available for your account.
Discounts so far:
$100 one time
$25 one time
$25 for four months
$40 for four months
$45 for four months
Hope you guys can benefit from one phone call like I did.
Please post your results if you successfully got a credit using this method.

I was thinking it was going to be one of my older lines, NOPE...it was my new line I just added last week so that I could get the Note 2! So in short, I got the phone plus a $100 credit on the brand new line.
Thanks OP...

Doesn't work for me and I've been with Sprint for 15 years.
I tried with my Moto Bionic and they only wanted like 50-something dollars for it!

*though I do have an EDRP account, which may be the difference there
Thanks, done and worked! $100 added.
It is for accounts that are near their term end, they give the money for you to extend it one year. But that will help cover activation and some as I am getting it from Best Buy.

Great, I guess ymmv because I have two lines with upgrade eligibility, and was not forced to have any contract extension.
I try and Sprint CSR shot me down like a duck
Got the $100 credit for adding a year on to my contract that is up in december. I'm upgrading to the note 2 tomorrow, so that's 2 years from tomorrow, nullifying the year add-on from today. Free 100 bucks since I was upgrading either way. Retention department did it. Remember, be nice. You definitely catch more flies with honey.
WOW Thank You for posting this deal. I tried it over the phone with account services a month ago, but they shot me down. I saw this thread and figured I'd give it another try via chat.
I'm on sero premium and was credited $400 for 4 lines! I simply asked for contract renewal credit via chat and they gave me mine, then I went on to ask for one on my parents account, etc. Her name was Holli A.
They gave me $100 credit for each of my two lines and another $100 for each of my parents two lines via chat. I also asked if it was available for my sisters line and oddly enough, it wasn't. They have their own accounts and their contracts end the same time as mine, so I have no idea why my sister wasn't eligible for it. Maybe it's because she's younger lol.
Thank You for posting this deal! Now I have to figure out if I can handle the Note 2 lacking voice & data at the same time.
Been with Sprint since 1999, have an upgrade available for 1 of my lines, and no dice.
It's totally dependent on who you talk to, I think. Some will honestly try to help you, some just want their paycheck and go home.

Worked for me, I had to go through three people until I got the manager, and was very nice about it, and stated that I can get the same thing with Verizon and wanted to know if there was anything Sprint was willing to do to make my decision easy.
I joined Sprint in 2007. I got $25 off the next two months. Better than nothing I guess. :victory:
You can also email them from the website and ask about a Renewal/Retention credit. I have done this in the past. I am too hesitant to do it anymore though. I have 6 lines on a family plan and the max is supposed to be 5. The last thing I want is someone digging through my account and deciding I cant have 6 lines anymore. That would burn me far more than a renewal credit will help.
Yes, technically they are called renewal credits internally and dependant upon when your contract is due to end or when it ended, the more money you are eligible for.
For those who are getting credits split over time, those are agents who are just doing what they can to help you out, which is always great. Regular care agents can do that, though they aren't supposed to. That can also do the renewal credits themselves if your account shows you eligible. The amount is also determined by your "churn" ranking. The less likely you are to leave Sprint, the more you are eligible for.
Going to Account Services isn't a requirement, but if the regular care rep isn't willing to play ball, then by all means ask for them. At a time when things are starting to turn for the better, now more than ever Sprint will do what they can to hold on to as many customers as possible. As by the example that was mentioned earlier, the best time to do it is when you have an upgrade available, but haven't used it yet. At that point, it's literally free money because the upgrade will cancel out the extension you just agreed to.

it's more like making deals/haggling than handouts. you're paying x amount of money for y value of service. trying to increase the ratio of x:y in your favor isn't really asking for handouts.
