[Q] Should we update to NODO or not? - Windows Phone 7 General

I just have a few question: After reading a lot of thread some are concern that updating to nodo will somehow "disable chervon" so is it true? the new update would kill our unlocked phones?
I have a HTC HD7 and i'm too scared to try because i dont' want my phone locked again

It's pretty simple. The update will kill the chevron hack. And sometime in the near future NoDo will be unlocked by someone. So you decide if you want to:
1) keep your unlocked phone and go without NoDo for a few weeks to a few months while waiting for NoDo to be unlocked and then update.
2) update to NoDo when available and go a few weeks to a few months while waiting for NoDo to be unlocked.
Nothing to be "scared" about. It's not like your phone being locked makes it unusable. You just have to decide how important NoDo is to you.

I unlock just to make the registry tweak that unbrand my phone. If I get the update, I won't need to do this

Unlocked Update Question.

Hi my orange phone is now unlocked and debranded. If an update comes out in the future will it just update as normal or will i have to use a goldcard and also will it stay unlocked.
thanks
Dion
Other threads suggest keep the Goldcard in when doing it but they also say you will get locked again...another reason to get unbranded handsets!!
So i take it the only way i can fix this is to install an orange update in future.
Yes? / No?
By the way, does anyone know when we are gonna see an orange Uk rom. Or is there one out there somewhere
If the unlock was done via the IMEI number I would think that, even if the update locked the phone, the unlock code would work again.
That's my hope anyway.

Is there a way to roll Zune back if that's what's blocking Chevron from relocking?

So, I've been trying to unlock my phone again since getting the update to 7008 and not having the prevent relock xap installed at the time. However, here is my dilemma and was wondering if anyone could help. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12542855&postcount=960

[Q] Should I give up the Chevron unlock?

Before the NoDo update I unlocked my phone (Omnia 7) with the Chevron unlock. I encountered some terrible bug(s) so I applied the NoDo update to see if that'd help. It didn't. The phone still stayed unlocked even with the update, so I was wondering if it's worth it to reset my phone and (maybe) lose the unlock for good (since it won't work with phones with NoDo installed and I think that's what I'll get if I reset the phone). So, anyone think it's worth it?

I think you don't need to "Re-Lock" your phone before getting NoDo update.

You don't need to. What I'm wondering is if the phone will re-lock itself if I reset it. I'm thinking it'll use the NoDo version to reset itself, which doesn't work with the Chevron unlock, and I won't be able to unlock the phone again. I wonder if it's worth it to reset the phone and probably lose the unlock I applied to the phone. I'm experiencing bugs where i can't use the marketplace on the phone to buy or update anything, and apps that didn't come with the phone crash after ~15 minutes.
Sounds like reset time... I would say better to have the device working properly without unlock than not at all with it...

Samsung focus- how do I deploy .xap file on locked windows phone 7.5?

all unlock methods leads to deploying a file to open something on the registry, my question is, how do I really enable the deployment of file, when my phone is locked. I tried the Microsoft Application deployment tool, but it won't deploy the file since its locked.
Any help is appreciated.
By the way, I am running OS Version 7.10.7720.68.
Thank you.
There is no unlock yet for mango. I'm in the same situation. Just gotta wait till something comes out.
Roll back to 7004, Chevron Unlock, Nodo, provxml.. Blah blah, upgrade to Mango.
It's the fastest way for you right now!!

I'm just saying... My cousin was on NoDo and wanted to be unlocked and I flashed the 7004 ROM and went from there. (We didnt use his backup, flashing is way faster.) He is now running 7720 with unlock, interop, and provxml.
Alternatively, get an actual developer account ($100, http://create.msdn.com) or, if you have an active student (.EDU) email address, you can get it from http://DreamSpark.com for free.
The last option, ChevronWP7 Labs (expected to cost a "nominal" fee), was announced a few months ago but isn't available yet. :-(
I think there's this new method called "interop" unlock, and by just deploying the file you can unlock the phone.
The instructions from heallthcliff says that by just deploying the .xap file using any deployment tool then it all other doings will be phone based diagnosis app.
I guess the tricky part is how to deploy the file, the remaining tasks is not that hard anymore.
My phone was previously unlocked before going to mango, but once the mango was installed the phone already locked by itself.
le sigh...
Interop-unlock is a superset of dev-unlock. It's not a new method of anything, it's just another level of access. The very concept of it has no meaning without dev-unlock.
The method for achieving interop-unlock requires already having dev-unlock on all phones except LG 9since they have a built-in regeditor). Samsung phones can do it from already being in Mango. HTC phones require that you first roll back to NoDo (before dev-unlock was crippled by removing the capabilities now called interop-unlock) and set the phone up before upgrading again.
my phone is already in Mango and its locked, how do I unlock it? How do I do it on a Samsung Focus?
At this point it would be a good idea to read what the other people have put thoroughly.
There is no way to unlock if you are on mango at this time.
You are going to have to flash back to 7004(Not mango, or NoDo.) and then unlock and build up from there until you are on unlocked mango.

My HD7 is half-bricked.

Boot loader is bricked, but the OS works fine.
If HTC releases a firmware update over Zune, will it flash my bootloader?
Will the broken bootloader prevent my phone from functioning in any capacity? People say "you can't update," but I've reverted to NoDo twice since the half brick, and on both occassions I've been asked to update to Mango.
bricked phone
Can the phone be able to get a future update?? or it is blocked to do it also?
