Boxwave Armor Case for DX? - Droid X Accessories

http://www.boxwave.com/products/armorcase/armor-case-motorola-droid-x_4000.htm
Anyone happen to have one of these? Looks to be pretty badass, IMO, and I was thinking about buying one.
But all I've heard about them thus far is that they cause a loss in signal due to the aluminum (Amazon.com).
Any incite would be appreciated. Would rather not waste $30. D:

I heard they are cool

I think if you're going to spend that much, your best bet is an otterbox case.

Otterbox makes a sexy case, but it's friggin aluminium, lol. I dunno, just wanted some opinions on the case
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App

I use the same case for my HD2. Two years and the case is a bit beat up but the phone looks BRAND NEW. The only drawback is if you close the door sometimes the sceen (depending on how sensitive it is) will activate some programs. So if your in a call and close the door so it latches you may open close programs you don't want. No issues with the metal causing signal loss for any radio functions, ie; bt,phone, wifi.

New EVO Case coming soon

Hi guys,
I am the product designer from a brand new company called TridentCase. We'll have a series of EVO case coming out pretty soon.
I am an avid EVO user myself, I'd love to get opinions on the case and see how everyone here feels about it. Perhaps even for future improvement.
The case comes with 5 different colors and we are planning to have different colored wrap around silicone band for purchase so you could mix and match your own personality.
Our first 2 cases for iPhone4 made it into CNET's top 10 tough cases for iPhone, I am hoping that we'll get similar type of interest and enthusiasm from the EVO community as well.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks!
I like it, although I'm a little hesitant to jump into cases of this protection level because I don't like the bulk.
I do like the style a lot though, kind of reminds me of the sony sports walkmans from back in the day. The color options make this seem like a winner.
If those holes on the back help with heat ventilation then that's a pretty clever idea.
Thats pretty much what Ive been looking for. How hard is it to reach the notification bar?

how much bulk does it add??? i would also like to see a belt clip for this...
They look awesome!
The vents are a great idea... but how are they as dust and pocket lint collector?
and more importantly... How much are they going to cost?
agreed on the cost thing. They could be spectacular if they don't cost too much lol.

Thanks. I was a bit concerned with bulk myself, but I've been using the prototype for a few weeks now, I don't really mind the bulk much. I can definitely understand if some people might feel differently though. We'll have more slimmed design in the near future.
Yeah, those are vents for heat. My EVO do get a bit hot once in awhile, these vents are my attempt to help that situation.

With the few weeks that I've been using, I haven't have any dust or lint collected in them. I am not entirely sure how much they will retail, (that's up to sales department) but I think it will somewhere in the ballpark of $29-$39.
These look like a win to me. I assume the screen is open, and not covered like the otterbox defender?
The prototype in the photos are opened, but the final product will have a clear screen, we figure if customers don't like the screen to be covered can easily remove the screen protection, that way at least there's an option.

They look really nice, what type of material is it made out of and how is the texture? Considering I'm using a $5 clear case off of ebay $30-40 seems a little steep for my taste, but if you want to send me a test unit I'd gladly review it for you
ETA? both otterbox defender and ballistic have been "coming soon" for months....

The material is ABS plastic, with silicone over it.

Do you have a website??? how is it going to go for? where will I be able to buy? and if you make a belt clip, will it be compatible with this?
You should make a version with a clear back instead of that color portion. Not too many cases will show off the back. How about a bumper style protection for the evo?

Otterbox Cases

Otterbox Cases are up with prices but you can't order yet
Impact: http://bit.ly/hUCrM0 Not available anymore.
Commuter: http://bit.ly/dOaA0b
I think i'm getting a commuter. What do you guys think?
FINALLY!
Deff getting a commuter
I love to see some new cases. What are the differences between these two cases? Why such a big price difference?
impact is rubber ONLY no hard shell plastic OVER rubber shell...
commuter has BOTH rubber and hard shell...
Will the commuter peel away at my screen protector like the gel case since it comes up to the edges like that?
It shoulfny

I hope the commuter does not make the phone HUGE. I do love the look of it, but my car mount is almost flushed with the eBay two piece cover. It looks small in the pics. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
I don't mind getting either or depending on how they go on the phone. If it a front peace and a back peace that click together no thanks... But if it slides on then thumbs up

So the impact is like a soft case? Is it similar to the gel case or no?

the impact is a one piece soft case, thicker for better protection... and the commuter is a two piece soft and hard, its like the tmobile ones they have in the stores but better, wish they had cut outs for the pins though...
I used to own Nexus with case-mate, and although nice the rubber started stretching. I ordered rubber case off ebay with screen, and it's the best one I've had - $ 8.95 with shipping.
I am thinking of getting the Commuter case.

White Snap On Case?

Hey guys I literally just switched over to the evo last night from an epic and so far I love it =D It came with a rubber silicon case but I hate having to move something with a silicon case in and out of my pocket. So im looking for your guys help. My favorite case so far for the Evo is this -
http://cgi.ebay.com/XMATRIX-White-H...990962?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item27ba0abef2
Just a nice bright white, snap on hard case. But I was going to see if anyone knew of possibly a higher quality one? Or primarily one without the holes in the back?
Any and all help is appreciated!
Thank you very much!
Sincerely,
D3luSi0n4L - proud new evo owner =D

Thanks!

I really thought the price for the seidio cases were expensive too until I bought one. The quality is great. I absolutely love them. Especially with the holster that u can get with them. If u look on eBay or Amazon u can usually get them for less than that. Also, best buy sells the same thing but the brand name is "platinum". They are made by seidio though. And there usually slightly less than the actual seidio brand.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
As badly as I have wanted to change the overall color of my EVO, I never wanted to suffer losing the "thinness" of the phone that you lose with a case...
When I first bought the phone I bought a Platinum case and it was fairly nice, but after I ditched it after a couple months I can say I'll never go back...

While I get this mentality. The Dixtronic case is really cheap and one of the best designs for me. It is really thin, made with quality material, and covers all the edges. I would be willing to pay more for a case, but if they only want to charge me 9 bucks for the case I am looking for... More power to them.
And yes... I did cut out a hole for the volume buttons (that was a poor design choice).

+1. Got one of these a love it. Normally not a case person, but compared to the Droids I had, the Nexus always felt like it was going to slip out of my hand. This case adds just the right amount to make it better to hold without making it too bulky.

Otterbox Commuter REVIEW

so as you guys know , I made the review for the defender and now its time for the commuter!
Very sleek, sexy and portable case. Minimum bulk while delivering great protection. A little slippery on the back but i can handle that
For me..ill take this case over the defender any day of the week.
Enjoy!
http://youtu.be/cm1qbkTA-2A
I got mine a few days ago and it's great. It doesn't make the phone to bulky at all and looks and feels great.
I convinced my brother to buy one after I dropped (test) it shoulder-high on the ceramic floor, twice. Still shiny new. The past reviews that I read were pushing me away from the commuter but I can honestly say it delivers protection and it's not that bulky. It doesn't pick up that much dust, and my phone is always in and out of my pocket. also, when you get the hang of it, you can put the case and remove it in 2 seconds. I don't know why people were hating on it. I don't use the extended batteries, gsm.
Has anyone crammed a VZW Gnex with the extended battery into the Commuter? Right now I'm just using a cheapo gel skin, but I'm in and out of the case a lot and it's starting to stretch.
Those cases make me cringe. Such beautiful phones being destroyed by cases.

I Rather rock a case than to have a destroyed phone
Honestly Im a HUGE fan of rocking my phone naked..however I cant afford a new phone every time I drop it (and with my dropping skills it happens pretty often). Thats why i stick with the thinnest cases possible that still give good protection (sgp, diztronic, commuter, etc)

Yea I have it and it fits fine. You may want to take the battery cover off. That's what I do
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
Same here. If you choose not to cover your phone, that is your given right. However, when you have an unlocked device you're running a big enough risk as it is.
Also the VZW users may want to check this guy's mod out.
http://youtu.be/q-Z1tiotZFg
i had the commuter for my captivate and decided to try one for my gnex but returned it. it is one of the best fitting dual layer case that ive tried but i dont like how the outer hard shell is so slippery and the lines down it make it look cheap. the case was just as slippery as the naked gnex.
i bought the incipio silicrylic instead, it doesnt fit at tight as the commuter but is a bit thinner since the lip is not as high. the silicrylic feels so much better to hold with its rubber coating on the hard shell and exposed silicon on the sides and top. another downside is the incipio attracts more dirt than the commuter but its not as bad as some people say.
I had this case...pushing the buttons thru the case was a pain so I returned it! And pulling the battery is a true *****! In terms of protection, its great though! No doubt! I don't use a case anymore but I highly recommend if you're in the US to just go to ur local Verizon store and grab an incipio, fits better and pushing the buttons are easy! Plus they give u a stand too! Although I returned that also cuz this phone is too sexy and sleek to cover up, in my opinion of course!

Commuter with no battery back fits well. Best IMO.
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
I bought my GNex slightly used (1 month old), the previous owner had the Commuter one the GNex from day one, which was cool because I knew I was buying a used device that was most likely to be in mint condition... and it was. It has GREAT protection and IMO the corners having the interlining exposed was a great design because if/when you drop the phone, it's most likely to land on a corner first.
THAT said however... I'm currently NOT using it and decided to go with something slimmer ONLY because I've developed a habit of typing ONLY with Swype with ONE hand, it started when I had the Nexus ONE... and I got pretty good at it... The problem is... the GNex being bigger, Swyping with one hand is now more of an effort because I don't have big hands. WITH the Commuter case, it was simply more work... I'm keeping the Commuter for now, and would totally still be using it if it wasn't for the Swype thing.
