[Q] CyanogenMod CM 7.0.0 RC3 and Gingerbread TV screen off animation - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I have question. few days ago I installed CyanogenMod CM 7.0.0 RC2 and I used that ROM till now (so far I have only noticed that alarm clock wasn't functioning as it should) but on RC3 if works perfectly.... I also noticed that on RC2, I had screen off animation (and old TV power off animation that exists in gingerbread 2.3), but on RC3 there is no animation, only standard power off screen without animation... Have developers moved that off or?, am I missing something?, something that I haven't found and option to turn this animation on again...? by default when I installed RC3, and when I clicked on power button to lock screen, animation wasn't there...
any info about this issue?

The animation was removed as it was seen to be a feature for phone that have a GPU and as the wildfire hasn't our dev removed it. It's still a feature on other phones though

I understand, but animation works on wildfire 100%, in my case, I haven't had any issue with it nor it was slow... I know that wildfire doesn't have GPU and every job that has animation, all the tasks do the CPU. but that animation doesn't require too much CPU power so, is it possible to add that animation again?

Yeah it was working perfectly for me in RC2. Bit sad to see it gone but I'm sure I can live without it!

It was removed because of the inconsistency. It was too inconsistent. (For the majority of users, atleast)

is it possible to unzip RC2 find the animation and other files that are required, and manually add them into RC4 or directly to htc wildfire using ssh. if it is possible, can someone write small tutorial (what is necessary for this animation) so the rest of us "that are willing to take chance with a stability of an wildfire phone" can put that option once again... sorry for bugging but this is one of those things that are too cool not to have...
cheers!

Thank you for putting this together! I'm downloading it right now! How did you make this one? Is it just a modded CM7 or Nexus S build, or is this a real AOSP build of Gingerbread?
That's what I've been lookin for is a complete AOSP build of GingerBread for the MT4G.
What Version clockwork do we need?
Can you post a link for it?
Thanks will give it a try.

I didn't change the GAPS, are you still able to go manually change the wallpaper to Nexus S live? I'm still working on getting the microbes wallpaper fixed I have it running but then freezing after a few times locking the screen. Hopefully I'll stumble across whatever it is causing the problems with the wallpapers.
im going to give this a shot im hoping it has alot of support im looking for a stock rom the cm7a has trackball wake/unlock working any chance of that being in your rom also this you can add this edit to your rom? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10339342&postcount=2671

There are some bugs left in rosie which can't be resolved until we're able to edit *.m10 files. For tempfixing some of them use this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26678197&postcount=3
When you want to connect to your wifi but the phone just says 'network saved' and doesn't connect, you have to check your mac adress. I don't know why but mine changed and I had to enable the new mac adress in my wifi router settings.
Again: I'm still a noob. If someone, who has more experience than me, could help, I'd be very thankful. As I'm still a student, I have many exams in the next weeks so I don't know how much time I can affort to work on the Rom. The more people work on the Rom, the faster we'll have a stable, bugfree Rom.

How about uniting? Also, I found that trackpad wake patch that was used in Primadonna's was working. However, Rosie did not rotate even if lid gets opened. I think that is related to framework problem.

Rosie doesn't rotate because rotation is disabled. I'll try to rezise the rosie properly then I'll try to enable the rotation.

I'm gonna look into this tomorrow.
I'll make an update tomorrow where more things are going to work than on this build (at least I hope so).

I already (successfully) added the Extended Quicksettings in a testbuild but I'm waiting for permission from j4n87. They'll most propably be included in the next release.
I'm starting to upload now. I hope it's finished in ~ one and a half hours.
If you still want to use the full rosie, I'll make a flashable zip later.
edit: Recent apps actually work but I broke them again in the new build. I'll release another update tomorrow.
btw: napior is right, some parts of the Rom are taken from 4.0 lite, like the rosie (only temporarely) or most of the framework. In the future more full parts are going to be added
edit2: unfortunately the upload got stuck at around 95%. I'm going to upload it again tomorrow. Sorrry I have maths exam tomorrow, I should got to bed now...
After 3 times getting stuck while uploading, it finally is available. Link added to first post, or you can download it here (http://d-h.st/SLB 445.79 MB.
Have fun
btw: recent apps should work, when you press the search softbutton. Maybe someone can test it, thanks.

Productivity need to be resized.
Recent apps are now working when long pressing the home button. I'm going to wait before releasing an update until I get more things working...
Good news:
Quinny managed to resize the full rosie (from an older base) and will include it in an update, he's going to release tomorrow together with some other fixes. Depending when exactly he will release it, I'm gonna make an update tomorrow or the day after.

HTC Desire JB by Vijendrah - Track Pad problem

Hi,
I do not have the access to post in that forum, so I want to just do a check here, does anyone have this similar problem.
ROM : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1945441
Problem: Trackpad no longer works in latest v3.0
V3.0 is all and good, the OS I have been waiting for my desire (for 3 years I dare say) However, the track pad is not working. Anyone have this similar problem or is there something I don't know about that I should be doing.
Thanks!
Hi anybody with the above mentioned rom care to chime in? The ROM is great FYI I have been using it for months. Been thinking about getting another HTC desire to flash it to this rom for my mom.
I don't usually use the track pad, but just tested and it seems ok

Sorry was busy for a few days, forgot about this thread, yeah I always do full wipe, not sure what I did but unchecking custom actions and then reboot... suddenly the track pad works again. I tried to recreate the problem by checking the custom actions, couldn't reproduce it... maybe it's just my track pad being dirty after 3 years? dunno. Anyway it works again, thanks for taking time to notify me.
Also... the link to the new work... I think I cannot test alpha builds... I really need my phone. but I will donate again if I move to new version haha, his work is great!
p/s anyone kind enough to explain what is the main difference at least between this new work and existing one? I'm kind of a noob and the last time I tried to read a cyanogenmod nightly changelog I almost fainted. Incremental builds from VJ I can understand, the rest... are totally alien to me, even finding the CM changelog was a challenge!
Just FYI I decided to try out the install a2sd from terminal with the Y Y Y command, and then when I tried to revert it back to the Y N Y setting, all my settings/sms/data was gone. So caveat emptor... or maybe you guys already know this, I for one did not.
Anyway now it's my HOME button that has lost functionality, the trackpad is ok... bummer... I didn't know how much I used it until it was gone. Even the settings under System > Hardware keys > Enable Custom Actions did now show a Home Key button (just has a Home key (long press) option)
er... help? I have restarted a few times... doggone it. I want my home button back!

I reflashed the ROM everything works now, I guess I was lucky never hard this experience before. I guess next time I should have a nandroid back up.
For anyone that just want an idea of what's the difference VJ has posted it himself. Please find notes below ty.
For actual differences between 4.1.2 and 4.2.1 google yourself.
But the improvements from my CM10 v3.0 to CM10.1 v4.2.1 is that:
1. The games which was not able to play in either any of the Jelly Bean version is playing now and better than GB ROM's.
2. Notification lights works
3. FM Works
4. Much Smoother
5. Video play back is very good (No more flickering)
6. Improved HWA
and find out yourself....
What's not working yet?
Same as Evervolv 4.2.1 (We fixed Bluetooth, Notification lights before them)
for me trackpad works fine

thx for the answer, but changed to CM10.1 VJ5.2..also nice Rom with nice features, only a bit slow and choppy camera app.
Think i be going back to MW8 or maybe MW9/9,5...(but hate the notification bar in MW9...not easy to use Quick Settings)
...or maybe just give up on the Desire and get a new phone?

If you use VJ 5.2 try using the Camera ICS app, which can be found in Google Play. It works fine for me. You can also try to set animation scale in the developer options to .5x and the transition effect under Launcher -> Homescreen to Standard to make it feel smoother.

GPS (mostly) not working on WFS

Hi,
I am having some GPS issues and I don't quite know how to fix them.
First of all, I have tried different ROMs starting with JellyKing, CM10.1, MarvellousCM10 and they all behave the same way.
The GPS simply does not get a fix, even when I let it sit outdoor for several minutes (I even left it 30 minutes).
There are times, however, where it gets the fix right away, it would work till I close the app that is using it (Endomondo, Runkeeper, for example) then it won't work again. I was not able to find any way to reproduce the "working" GPS.
The fact that it works, albeit rarely, makes me think it's not an HW issue, but I'm not so sure anymore.
What did I try already:
1) I followed this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1563226
The fix -supposedly- was tested with the Wildfire S.
Made no difference.
2) I installed FasterFix
The App simply did not work for me. Whichever server I picked, it said that an error had occurred
3) I installed FasterGPS
The app worked, in the sense that I selected a server and it updated the gps.conf file.
It made no effect though.
I have installed "GPS Status" to test it and I was (never) able to get a fix since I installed it.
All of the above was done with the rom from this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1878031) but I had the same behavior with other roms ...
Any suggestion?
None of those patches will help you. It's just a placebo.
However, GPS is not working on cm ROMs as it works on sense based ROMs.
It does work, but it needs a lot more time to get a fix, especially the first one.It takes around 10-15 min, or even less if you're under the clear sky.

Poh. I left it more than 30 minutes on the balcony. Clear sky, completely open. Nothing.
Are you saying this is an issue with the CM10* based roms?
So if I try one based on CM7* should it work?
I really would like to move to JB and stay away from Sense ...but I need the GPS to work.
Thanks for your help.
Well, as I said, it does work, but it's much faster on sense ROMs.Don't know why you can't get a fix, I'd suggest downloading GPS status from play store, there you can see exactly how much satellites your phone is catching.
I think it's that way on every CM based ROM.However, I've never tried cm7, so, can't really say for it.

Hi FAtfcK,
how did you follow the 1st method, exactly?
I have installed ES File Explorer, then I downloaded the Google Specific, no SSL file and extracter gps.conf on the SD card.
Then with ES File explorer I copied the file in /etc (of the internal memory). It did ask me if I wanted to overwrite the existing gps.conf, so I figure it was the right location.
Rather than overwriting, I renamed the original one, then copied the new one.
I rebooted the phone (just in case) and waited ... and waited ... but no luck.
Did you do the same?
By the way, which Rom are you using?

In my ROM, you can select your region (Europe, Asia, Africa, ...) and aroma will pick a gps. conf for you.
And yes, first GPS fix takes about 15 min, but it should work fine after that.

DJolivier,
I'm sorry but that's not the case.
I flashed Marvellous CM7.2 and the GPS works perfectly. It gets a fix outdoor in 0.1s.
Even indoor it would get 4 or 5 satellites (not enough to get a fix), but it clearly showed that the GPS was working.
WIth any of the CM10* that I used the GPS was practically dead (did not see any satellite when outside): the GPS simply was not working.
I can't quite use CM7.2: I don't need many apps, but the few I do need don't support Gingerbread, apparently, which is a pity, because everything works in Marvellous 7.2 ...
Now that I know that the HW clearly works, I plan to re-flash a CM10 and try again the various options ...
Thoughts?
1) Take gps.conf from CM7 and implent it in any cm10 ROM
2) Try CM9. It's Android 4.0.4 ICS, I know that it works perfectly.

You can't say that GPS is not working on cm10 ROMs, when it is.You don't need to touch gps.conf, or to do anything for it to work.It does work.
I got fix from 12 satellites once when I was outdoors.Indoors, I usually get 5-7.

Hi FAtfcK,
how did you follow the 1st method, exactly?
I have installed ES File Explorer, then I downloaded the Google Specific, no SSL file and extracter gps.conf on the SD card.
Then with ES File explorer I copied the file in /etc (of the internal memory). It did ask me if I wanted to overwrite the existing gps.conf, so I figure it was the right location.
Rather than overwriting, I renamed the original one, then copied the new one.
I rebooted the phone (just in case) and waited ... and waited ... but no luck.
Did you do the same?

Haha. Sorry late reply. I did all the same but..... I think you forgot to set the permissions that's why and you should overwrite it

Nightshadow931,
I am sorry but GPS with any CM10 I have tried so far is dead. I had some random luck which I cannot reproduce.
I am not claiming that gps is broken on CM10, but for sure it does not work for me. Infact, I was under the impression that this issue was only mine, however, apparently, it is not and there is a "known" issue with GPS in CM10.
I have installed this morning Thunderbolt 2v0 (based on AOPK 4.1.2) and it works like a charm.
I did not try Djolivier's suggestion of copying the gps.conf from CM7.2 to CM10: I read the suggestion too late.
For now I am going to stick to this rom.
Gps issue isn't in AOKP because it isn't cm based

I have a MarvelC and have been running CM10 alpha since January. I had been having issues with GPS in all the ROMs I tried - and was told that unless I was using a sense based ROM - GPS would not work for long if I ever got it working.
In the Play Store - I found this App - Navfree USA: Free Satnav. It works most of the time. There are times I do have a problem getting a connection, but I don't know if that's because of the ROM I'm using, or because of where I am at the time and there is no satellite to connect to.
For the US version, you do need to down load individual state "maps" to use - but that has not been an issue. They also have other country versions.
It may be a "fix" for someone - give it a try.

Mamadanz,
I think I tried all the CM10-based roms for WFS and I was never able to get the GPS to work consistently. I suppose it may depend on the App that you're using: the one I tried (Endomondo, Runkeeper) don't work.
Using the AOPK-based Thunderbolt 2v0 (which is JB 4.1.2, but not based on CM) I have no problems, whatsoever, with the GPS. It's been a few days so far and I have been using it extensively.
The rom, in general, is good. Some things are in a "different" place than what I'm used to, but you have all you need.

Thank you Scardac - I did download your ROM. Unfortunately, downloaded the wrong GAPPS yesterday and didn't realize until I flashed everything while away from home. DL's the correct GAPPS very late last night so am still playing with everything. But so far - everything looks very good. I'll keep you posted.
Thank you again.
