[Q] anyone can help us to fix this problem?? - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi devs!!
please admins, don't delete this 3d!!
a few days ago, me and more other users had this problem:
when i shut down my DHD, it reboots automatically after a few seconds...this issue remains with all roms (sense, miui, CM7)... i've tried to reflash recovery, format all partition and reflash rom, change radio firmware but nothing!!
this is the Thread where we are trying to find a reason of this problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1014302
but we have no solution!
can devs help us to fix this problem??
this problem was appeared at the change of the hour, the 27/3/11.
more of us have changed rom, have root and engeneering bootloader, but this problem appears in stock DHD too.
thanks devs for all and for help and sorry for my bad english!

I'm surprised the thread has lasted this long...
I really do hope you find a fix for your problem but posting a link in here to a thread elsewhere will only annoy people. There's separate sections for a reason.

i know!!
but i think devs che help us to find a solution!!....in general section there are no devs!!!!!

Yep, I know most devs only look in here (they're busy making ROMs for us) but the mods will still enforce the rules. Why not PM a link to a couple of people you think might be able to help?

The issue is described in cm7's rc thread so the dev's probably know about this already. If they can help they probably will anyway.

I can't believe you abbreviated 'thread' to '3d'!

This problem does not let switch off your phone properly. I mean without disconnecting your battery. And this bug affects all users who flashed CM rom after 27.03.11. All that was proposed to workaround this is that you should set date before 27.03.11
I read in this forum that this doesnt affect people who didnt rooted their phones and didnt flash CM roms. But who did suffers from it even if reflashed original stock rom not to mention other cooked roms.
So there is no fix for that at the moment and no devs are looking to fix it or if they do they didnt came up with a solution.
So meanwhile may be this bug should be listed in first message of CM rom`s thread that if you flash that rom you would not be able to switch your phone properly or something like that...

Flash the OEM Stock ROM Before EVERY Upgrade?

I know people have repeatedly said it's best to flash a stock ROM before upgrading to your cooked rom, but do you do this before every ROM change? Wasn't sure of the protocol...thanks
Each and every time - normal procedure for me to avoid hard resets, etc.
Same thing for the wizards also.......
Edit - as corrected by other responses, not a standard procedure for flashing roms, just a procedure I follow due to hard reset issues previously.
Thanks for the quick reply!
I actually have 1 more question...does it matter WHICH rom you flash? like do you need to flash the rom that the cooked rom is most based off of?
I have been using this one before flashes: RUU_Hermes_CINGULAR_WWE_3.62.502.3_6275_1.54.07.00_108_UOOS_SVN05_Ship
but just realized i may need to have a stock rom that is closer to what i am flashing
That's the oem rom I've been using.....
Should someone respond with something better, then we both will have a new base for flashing.
Have a good one
ROM minus the radio
I believe someone had posted once that OEM ROM extracted without the radio...i'd like to find that so i'm not reflashing my radio too every time...
Is this really true? I haven't been to active on the board the last few months, but I don't remember seeing that prior to this. What's the technical reason behind it? I don't know how many dozens of times I've flashed my phone...haven't had an official ROM on it since the day I bought the thing.
I haven't and so far I have not had any hard reset with any ROMs that I have tried for the last year. My latest being MaRaHox 5.02.
I guess it is best practice to do so, best to flash with your carrier shipped rom, and then upgrade/downgrade your radio, then your desired rom that you wish to keep.

Yea it is true, if you had used a search before posting a new thread you might have found it! Here is the link!
The only time I flash a OEM ROM is if I am going from BIGSTORAGE to non BIGSTORAGE. Thats just me though and I haven't had any problems.
Fortunately, I never needed to flash the official. But it's the best thing to do for those having HR & Bigstorage flashing issues...
I use Vp3G 6.0 ROM as my baseline. It is close to the standard AT&T ROM. The biggest problem is goingfrom a big storage ROM back to a "standard" ROM. However, I baseline my device each time I flash a new ROM because it only takes a few minutes to do so.

You must be joking...
first of all - i am not an idiot, i know how to search, i just don't always know how to FIND - i did search...for like 20 minutes!! i couldn't find the exact answer to that question. Of course YOU knew where to find that thread cause u were posting in it earlier!
second - i don't see the reason people get SO offended over a repost?! of course if it is something that is asked EVERY day and it is your first post and u are like, which is the best rom...ok, you deserve to hear it...but people love to flame you over asking a question when it takes 2 seconds of someones time to answer and it could take me literally 20 minutes or more to find the specific answer i am looking for. Plus other people got benefit from my asking again so what is the bloody harm??
Third - you got me all excited and didn't link me to what i was looking for! I saw someone post the OEM ATT ROM but without the radio. So, Mr. Smart guy, please search your loving heart out and help me find it...please! Cause i have no clue how to find that file
EDIT: Whoops, ok i just read where you explained how to do the extraction...that does help actually thanks
Flashing an official rom prior to flashing WM6.1 roms may be a good a practice. however, on my part, i never needed to do that. I just flashed PdaViet's WM6.1 rom from Shaminix's WM6 rom and it is still stable and fast. No hard resets whatsover. I am also using an ATT 8525 handset.
It seems as though people are asking if this is standard practice or not... The answer is simple... It is not standard practice for everyone... It is completely up to the individual, if this is what they want to do....
I suffer from RFWS (Rom Flashing Withdrawal Syndrome) and due to my disorder, I usually flash several times a week and NEVER do I flash an OEM rom before flashing the rom I actually want... I also don't have any issues while doing it this way...
Now, with that being said, I can understand why one would flash when going from BigStorage to NonBigStorage or Vice-Versa, but that is about it...
/rantoff
I just flash the rom i want to try out , no official roms for me ,if it isn't an illegal rom it just doesnt't feel right
i used to flash everyday, but then the big white van with the blue flashing lights took me away to the big house

Original OS of the Diamond

Hello everyone,
I hope I posted my first question here in the right area (if not, shame on me )
In the next few days my HTC Touch Diamond will arrive from Vodafone. I do not know if this is just in Germany but my last phone from Vodafone, a Sony Ericsson W810i, also had a "special" Vodafone-OS on it. On the W810i I was finally able to look up all the necessary information myself to make it a Vodafone-free phone. But as I read through all the available Wiki's, FAQs and other threads I am starting to see that this might be another level compared to what I have done before.
My questions concerning my new device are whether there is a possibility to change the "Vodafone-red-theme" to the original one which you also can see on HTC's homepage. Of course, the whole device should be in its original form, not just the theme, whereas the Vodafone-Services (SMS-Gateway and all the other service numbers which are needed to use the device). I think it is possible, maybe it has something to do with a "ROM-Upgrade" or so, as I have seen in a FAQ around here.
My other question is, of course, how to do that, what tools are needed etc.
In short, I need you to provide me the right link to a tutorial since here are so many and I do not know which one to take (and I do not want to screw up the device).
I hope that you can help me, if I accidentally posted this thread in the wrong forums might a moderator please be so kind to move it to the right section and notify me of my fault.
Thanks in advance and greetings from Germany (or Bavaria, to be more exact )
Zuzler
We'll let you off!
Yes, you are in the wrong section... you should be in the 'Diamond ROM development' section, but everyone is allowed one mistake (Except, myself... I have infinite mistake allowance!)
My device was vodafone branded when I got it, and that's the first thing I wanted to get rid of too.
First you need to 'Hard SPL', which unlocks the device so you can flash any ROM you wish. Then just flash your required ROM. I would highly recommend AZTOR's X2 Ultimate. He has the philosophy of keeping the ROM as close to the original stock ROM as possible, only better, stronger, faster... like the bionic man (I'm showing my age now!!).
Everything you need is in this tutorial. I followed it to the letter, and now my device is everything it should be. It's always very nerve racking the first time you flash your device, but what ever happens, there's some sharp wizard in this forum with the knowledge to get you out of the brown stuff... have fun
Hi grahamkdt,
thanks for you reply. I already thought after submitting that it would have been better to post this in the development area. I will contact a Mod immediately to solve that.
Thank you for the recommendation about the ROM, but there is still one problem for me:
Should I upgrade the "Radio" first, since in the tutorial you gave to me it is step B. Or is this just a prerequisite to not breaking anything? Are there also different versions?
Regards,
Zuzler
thread moved
now we are all happy
Wow thanks, I also contacted tnyynt for that
Can't remember...

I can't remember if AZTOR's ROM's include the radio. It might be worth flashing a radio first from here. I use Radio v1.09.25.23 (Quad Band) (52.51.25.26H) - no issues at all.
Or, you could ask AZTOR if radio is included in his ROM's if you're really concerned. Personally I'd just flash one first anyway...
Ok, I will ask him personally (just seen hes from Germany, too - might make some things easier)
Thanks again!

MOD EDIT: BEFORE POSTING ANY THREAD IN THE DEVELOPMENT SECTION, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING:
If you have developed a ROM, or are working with others to do so, the development forum is somewhere to discuss and share ideas, post useful feedback and logs or crash dumps, and to discuss a common goal developers are trying to achieve.
It is NOT the place to post your question because it gets higher traffic, or because more experienced users frequent it. Doing this just annoys those who are working on the device, and drives them away. Developers don't want to wade through 20 threads of "Help me urgently" to find their threads for porting and fixing camera issues etc. Similarly, if a thread is designated as discussion for developers say, porting a camera fix, please do not post in there asking "When will it be ready?", "Can I flash this yet?" etc. This is both completely disrespectful to those working on the project (you evidently haven't read the important posts in the thread), and also is making it harder for developers to find comments from other developers or testers when required.
Similarly, don't make loads of "Thanks for your work here" posts in an active development thread. It's just as annoying to developers as asking when something will be ready. If a ROM is complete, then go ahead and thank the developer if you wish, but don't go into threads for devs only, and interrupt it to post "thanks". It's basically spamming, and is treated as such.
If you are posting in development, you should have read every sticky and notice there, and should be actively developing or helping in the development of something. Developing isn't installing a ROM, or using a tweak, it's creating a ROM or other hack or tweak. If you haven't read for several days before starting out on XDA, you are likely about to ask something already solved. I registered on XDA when I first wanted to post, and that was to join in a discussion on something. Sure, join up and ask a question, but read the information available in General and Q&A first, as your question will have been asked before. Search is your friend here, become familiar with it.
Regarding when to post in development if you are not actually developing something, there is one occasion where it's acceptable. If you find a leak of a new ROM, which isn't already posted, and you verify it's legitimacy via either running it, or based on the source you obtained it from, then this is assisting in development, and should be posted in development. If you want to ask when a leak will be available use search first, then if not already in discussion, open a thread in general or Q&A.
If you have a problem flashing a ROM, this is NOT related to development. It's up to you to determine if it is specific to a particular ROM, and post useful information in that developer's existing thread for the ROM. If it happens on more than one ROM, and isn't a known issue (remember you should read several times more words than you post), then find out what you are doing wrong. Check guides written by others, try to repeat the problem and see if it happens every time. Something needs to be reproducible to be fixed effectively.
Once you have identified what you need help with go to the device Q&A forum (general if device lacks one), and make a clear, informative thread that explains the issue, and what you have tried doing to fix it. Did you re-download the ROM? Did you ask a friend to flash it for you, to reduce chance of user error? What steps (exactly) did you follow? What errors did you see (exact wording)? Did you double check all the steps? Did you do a wipe or hard reset?
If you make a clear, concise, yet detailed post, you will find help forthcoming, and should get the problem sorted very quickly. If someone suggests you try something, report back on what happened, did it work etc. Then, next time someone has this issue and searches, they will find this and have a verified and tested solution.
So remember... before you start a thread in development, ask yourself what you are developing. If you can't answer, then stop, step away from the post button, and think about where you are posting. Would it be better in General or Q&A, or is some more time with your best friend, search, required?

[Q] n00b to nightly (cm7)

Few n00b questions.
Firstly, how do i flash a nightly on my phone? lets say im running ofw 2.2 SEA edition? Do i follow the same procedure as if to flash RC1... do i also need to flash gapps similarly.
Secondly, are the links on quarxs' CM7 for defy thread up-to-date? or are there newer versions of gapps and nightlies floating around somewhere
Third, i have noticed that there is an issue with network and wi-fi when i flash cm7 RC1 over the nordic sbf. when i go back to official 2.2 SEA there is no hassle at all. Since i live in India i was wondering if that was the issue. I can easily take care of the network problem using "baseband switcher for defy" but it still doesnt help the wi-fi problem.
My question is.. will using the new BOOTSEA nightly solve this problem? From the name boot"SEA" im assuming its built southeastasia specific (i may be wrong).
Fourth, ive used CM7 RC1 for a while and apart from the wifi issue i got problems with camera and video... it absolutely doesnt work, wether it be in potrait or landscape or whatever setting... the app just force closes. Any fixes for that.. ive got green lens.
please help!!! and i hope other similar questions can be added by members here so as to make this thread an FAQ for distressed users like me.
stop posting same questions in different threads!
i think someone has already answered ur question
oops... my mistake.
i had typed out everything last nite and as i clicked on post my notebook froze up... didnt realize the post was successful, so i got up to it again today.
sorry.. but how do i delete threads?

[Q] No Wifi after CWM9 Beta1 upgrade

Hi,
This is an issue which im not finding any answers too anywhere. My previous attempts all failed making me try again and wait hopefully.
After i upgraded to ics (= CWM9 Beta1 of course) i have lost my ability to use Wifi... that means that when i turn on my wifi on the phone it doesnt find my connection.
Wifi is a must and this is strange why there isnt an answer to this question. What must i do to get my wifi up and running or at least find where the problem lays? I asked my ISP support so that they MIGHT be able to help but the dude on the line said that it seems ics isnt very good at wifis... i dont know if he was right or not but this definitely isnt a wide spread issue since internet search didnt show me anything much and it doesnt seem to be a complex problem either (i might be wrong). So please help me if you can.
Thanks in advance
The general section is the right place to post this kind of question and I guess you've already posted there a thread asking on a "how to" and have replied a thread on where you can find tons of information.
Basically, you need to flash your phone to a better baseband XXLM6 or XXLM8 to which will help you fix your wifi problem. Find a stock ROM with that baseband. Use the given thread I suggested in your other post.
Sent from my GT-I8150 using xda premium
i didnt see any posts on my other thread, unless you posted after i left... i was waiting for hours to get this fixed.
So how do i upgrade? Does this mean i will lose my ics?
Nope. there is no topic which can help me there.
