[Q] Installing Quickoffice.apk on CM7RC4 - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I extracted Quickoffice.apk from the Stock HTC Wildfire ROM and want to install on Cynogen mod 7 RC4.
I tried installing the Quickoffice.apk in two ways :
1) copied Quickoffice.apk to /sdcard and tried installing through pkg installer
2) copied Quickoffice.apk to /system/apps
In both case when I run Quickoffice by clicking on the icon it gives error with a popup "The application Quickoffice (process com.qo.andriod.htc) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"
Request help to install Quickoffice.apk
I do not have adb installed on my computer.
thanks.

Quickoffice is a htc-app and can't be installed on a AOSP rom like CM7, it can only be installed on a htc-sense rom

YOu can get it from market. I have it in my cm7.

One from market is working well here , so have a look on it ;]

I'm also having the same issue as sdixit3 is, but on an HTC hero running CM7RC3. To try and resolve the force close issue, I tried the "Fix Permissions" utility in ROM Manager (v3.0.0.7), since that looked promising for FC issues. Nothing has worked thus far, unfortunately.
Sorry for being a noob, this is my first post and I believe I'm in the wrong forum, but I've been racking my brains trying to fix the same thing!

Check Post 2. The Quickoffice on the default HTC ROM is an HTC Customized App, and, it wont work on ROMs without Sense. It's the same with every other HTC Sense App like their Clock, Widgets, FM Radio, Dialer etc.

Definitely try this one, way better http://db.tt/mXgDCwv or the same one http://db.tt/d7DA2NX, but for flashing into the system

[Q]Htc desire HD Keyboard

has anyone got it working on the desire yet? i have been digging a little around, extracting the stock one, modding the Desire HD one, but nothing... it won't show in the "Inputmethod" dialog.
i have attached the HTC_IME.apk from the Desire hd, this is taken from Ownshere's port could you guys try and work your magic with it
EDIT: and i would just like to give a shout to the team that got the S-off working, so helpful in things like this
Settings > Keyboards then tick the box for it
But how did you even install it? Lol it has the same name as the stock one so cannot install it for me
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
i tried to delete the HTC_IME.apk, i tried to uninstall the original but that did not work and finally i tried to edit the xml files in the HD one, that did not work either :/
EDIT: Just tried editing it even more... now it can't install, it kicks my phone into a hot restart, then and adb just stops installing :/
Edit2: Creating a update.zip with the one directly extracted from the Desire HD rom, didn't work, nothing showing :/
Edit3: tried a update.zip with my own fail mod. I had to restore backsmali does not seem to decompile right...
I can install it ok using ROM manager, via clockworkmod
but it doesn't show in keyboard settings. I've used the keyboard on the Desire HD Rom, and the big improvement is the addition of cursor direction keys. Would nice to get this running on a more reliable Rom.

Swyped from my HTC Desire using XDA App

on my Nexus S
You can't install it, you need to copy to system and fix permissions on it via ROOT explorer.
here is how i did,
transfered contacts from wm 6.5 to android using outlook
and transfered all sms using
http://android.riteshsahu.com/tips/importexportmove-sms-messages-from-windows-mobile-to-android

Newer version
The old version here cannot receive the picture associated with the contact. I have attached the newer version that comes with HTC Sensation. I got it from the file "Stock Apps+ODEX.zip" at this thread: [APPS] T-Mobile Stock Apps & Stock Apps+ODEX Files
Also you may want to sign the application first. Then check the above replay by @maniacscorpio.

[Q] DHD Revolution 6.1.2 Marketplace Issues

Hi,
Firstly, sorry for undoubtedly posting in the wrong place but I've looked all over the place and I'm stuck.
Just updated to Revolution 6.1.2 and Marketplace 3.1.6 seems to crash/hang at loading screen when downloading every 3rd or 4th app from Marketplace and I have to kill it in task manager to be able to try it again. Normally this attempt after killing works.
Any ideas what to do or where to post is greatly appreciated...I'm a noob noob so please keep any explanations as simple as possible
Cheers,
CS
Does your language on the phone is English US or UK? If not ,change it - if its already selected, reselect it.
If it still crashing, try to reinstall the market app, clear cache..
I know there is also sop's permissions issue to be checked but first try the language issue
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using xda premium
I had the same problem with the new market (both 3.1.6 and 3.2.0) so reverted to the old market(2.3.6). It faster & smoother than the new versions.
Just flash the attached zip in recovery and you will get the old market.
but there's a problem, u have to stop it from updating. For that -
1. Using a root explorer(like ES File explorer)>go to system>app>delete market updater>reboot(not mandatory)
2. Freeze the market updater.apk using Titanium backup or similar apps.
3. if u can afford to reinstall the rom, open the rom zip file>system>app>delete market updater and replace the vending.apk with the attached vending.apk
I also had this issue but use language fix and permissions helped me.
The old market is good but we always want to see the future

[Q] how to flash stk.apk (Sim Tool Kit) to AOKP

Hello,
I'm trying to install stk.apk on AOKP Maguro Build 37, first i used titanium backup on my Gummy rom to back it up so i would be able to extract it on AOKP but it didnt show up in the backed up system apps.
then i downloaded stk.apk and tried installing it, didnt work.....then i tried pasting it in system/app folder using Astro it didnt work as well. it gives me an error message.
if possible, I would like to know if i can install stk.apk on AOKP and if its not possible, is there a AOKP based rom that has sim tool kit installed in it that you would suggest to use?
Many thanks ppl
You need to remount /system with rw privileges
Sent from my i9250
Thanks, I hope it works..
If possible, may I know how to do that? Never had to fix permissions before. Thanks
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
Fix permissions is easy...
OPen ROM Manager, and scroll own to utilities, it's the first option
Or do it in the advanced menu, in recovery
If the rw method doesn't work, flash it via ADB
Code:
adb install <packagename>
Hi,
Tried fixing permissions, and tried flashing the Stk.apk via adb using gnex toolkit, it installed but doesn't appear.
I think maybe the Stk I have is either corrupt or maybe isn't compatible with aokp....
If someone can upload one that's compatible it would be great
Thanks
Same problem, used to have a working stk.apk (this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1408926) but it doesn't work with AOKP M3 or 4.0.3
Any suggestions?
use Root Explorer
I used this for AOKP Milestone 5, installed but it's not appearing in App Drawer, i put it in /system/apps and fixed permission too.
Tried root explorer....tried fixing permissions and adb installation, I managed to install it appears in installed apps but doesn't show in the app drawer. And can't open it.
No idea what else to try
Seems to me that STK.apk you were trying to use was compiled with
Code:
<activity
android:enabled="false">
which, if i got it right, does not show the app under app drawer.

I've also tried to add stk to aokp but with no luck.
I extracted the stk from foxhound rom(they have stk support) added to aokp, fixed perm, installed via db, etc. Didn't worked either way.
A working stk added to aokp rom would be perfect so if someone could help us...
Yes. Its strange when I have high end phone and must carry a dumbphone then I need my e-signature :-(
Sorry for my English.
You guys could try putting in another carrier's sim and putting back your sim, i got the sim toolkit this way on AOKP M5, sounds weird, but it appeared after i did the following to test out a system.UI mod.
I'm not confident that it will make the sim toolkit appear but you guys could give it a try.
Here is my stk.apk if you guys want it.

[Q] Process com.google.process.gapps has stopped... help!!!

First of all, sorry if this has been covered but I couldn't find any solution that seems related to this problem or phone (I get some search hits for the S3).
So I have been getting this message and I think sync is screwed up. I can't say exactly how but, for example, I used to get an email on the mail manager and the gmail notification would be gone. Now I get both and both stay on.
The only solution I found while searching is going to settings (and here's my probably faulty translation from S3 to the HOX) --> Apps --> -->all--> Download manager and enable it. Well, mine is enabled and I still get the error... Help???
Looks like gapps (Google play... ect) wasnt installed properly. Try reinstalling the proper gapps package for your rom.

Thanks guys!! :good::highfive:
process.google.gapps has stopped
Hi guys. I know that some of the proposed solution is to enable the downloads. For note 2 users this problems continues to happen. There is 2 downloads app for note 2 and both of them are enabled. I tried to disable the download app with the icon pointing downward and enable the download app with the Android logo. Fortunately, the process.com.google.gapps has stopped is not yet popping for two days now.
I hope this will help. Thanks!
Well, "downloads" says it runs in the same process as "download manager" and has access to contacts. I think it's the contacts sync that caused this one my HOX but I didn't get any more error messages after reinstalling the gapps package.
EDIT: Emails often gave me problems too and that was the worst of it as it syncs with gmail a lot more often than contacts do.
I think that this issue has few ways to be solved, because the process is related to some google apps and services. I tried almost everything I read, but finally the solution was when I deleted my Google account and readded. I think my phone contacts got somehow messed up and syncing crashed the process. So final for me - delete Google account and add again was the solution.
