[Q] Has anyone managed to root the Wildfire with the new H-Boot yet? - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

title says it all really but just wondering if anyone has found a software solution yet for rooting the HTC wildfire after you've updated to 2.2.1?

Its a good thing to look around in this forum then you would learn that nobody found a solution for to do it with software. The only thing that works is with a piece of hardware.....With all the new models i think the people who can do it are not so interested in the wildfire anymore. So maybe it stay this way........

Universal androot

I was wondering if anyone has heard of this? This app was highlighted in gizmodo, on weeks best apps. They said it was in the android market, but when I went to check it out it wasn't found. Any word on this app? Thanks in advance.

It's not the longest article...wondering how you missed the important part as an evo owner.
The bad news is that there are still some devices such as the HTC EVO 4G running the FRG22D firmware that are left out of the party.

Wow, I didn't catch that. I just saw that some phones might not work. Thanks for the heads up.

please guys, im needing to know so that i can root my phone...
Not to be an ass, but on researching how to root you could only find a four month old thread?
Google unrevoked. Works like a charm. Used it to root a guys phone yesterday.
^^He got to you before i did....and believe me he was nice about it. Unrevoked is just about fool proof. If i can read and figure it out, so can you!!!!
the poor guy he is trying to root an X10i as well. you may want to head over to that forum and check if there is an unrevoked for x10i or some other thread in the development section

[Q] So i have ordered a Desire, help in need.

So i just ordered a desire from Halebop with 2 years contract.
I don't know if the phone will be branded/locked but i think it probably will be.
I have read that some people have had problem with rooting branded phones and now i need to know if it is more complicated/risky than root a unbranded desire.
My Wildfire wasn't branded and i rooted it two days after i got it and within a week i had tryed "all" (there are like 3-4 good) roms available for wildfire.
I never had problem with it, rooting, rom changed etc was realy easy. (only android sdk took some time to learn)
Well to the point already...
Well how much more difficult is it to root a branded desire compared to an non branded wildfire?

[Q] Any chance getting root with 2.2.1?

Hi,
i got my DHD a few days ago, before I startet reading here at XDA. Unfortunately I installed all the updates before I was aware, what I was doing.
So I'm stuck with 2.2.1. Is there any way to gain root with it?
Hi there.
No not at the moment. Update wise, I'm in the same pickle as you exept i saw the warning and didn't react because i thought it only concerned permanent rooted devices. So you might understand why I'm feeling a tad stupid at the moment.
Only option right now is to wait for the developers to come up with a viable solution.
Regards
Elo.

Thx for info.

How do I downgrade HBoot

Hi all, i know im prob repeating a few other posts but im having trouble finding some clarity, I got a wildfire yesterday and it came with 2.2.1 on it which means hboot 1.02.0002, I really really want to get rid of sense and stick on cyanogen mod, is there anyway this can be done, I've heard I can turn the S-off and downgrade but I have no idea how to do that without an XTC clip, is there a software solution yet, or do i have to take it to a phone shop and get them to do it for me, can someone enlighten me to whats going on with the scene atm and if its even possible yet.
Take it to a phone shop and get it S-OFF'ed using an XTC Clip, No software only solution yet.
yeah, and stop being lazy and scroll through the forum first next time, it's not so hard!

My m7 is horrible now hoorid batt slow operation it needsmajor help guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
I honestly don't remember using anything called sunshine. But, that doesn't necessarily mean anything.
YouTube is your friend! ? im a very visual person when it comes to tech stuff. Search for "HTC One m7 rooting" and then filter it to videos from one year.
Watch them at least twice before starting to do anything. I highly recommend the ROMs by Santod. He has been around for quite some time, and is active in development.

For the VERIZON variant of the m7, to unlock the boot loader (which u need for root), yes u need sunshine. All other variants can unlock their bootloaders for free via htcdev, but vZw had HTC block all the vzw variants from Doing that. But the bonus is, Sunshine will unlock your boot loader AND gain u S-off. Which u definitely want if u plan on modding your phone. After Sunshine does it's magic, all u have to do is flash TWRP and then flash SuperSU, and you're rooted. Sunshine DOES cost $25, but it's the best $25 I ever spent...
