[Q] Root Wildfire (Foyo 2.2, Radio: 1.xx) - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi.
I am mobile wildfire and the ROM update to version 2.2 got Android.
Can not any of the methods it can root.
Whether there is a way to root it.

Please do search the board before opening a new thread. This question has been answered a million times already!
The only way to root a Wildfire on 2.2 and HBoot (Not Radio, they are totally different things) 1.xx is by getting S-OFF using an XTC Clip (A hardware box), and then rooting.

[Q] Rooting help

Hey, I'm gonna come with a really noobish question I gues...
I have an HTC Desire that I want to root, it has HBoot 0.92 and OTA Froyo 2.2, I don't think this is a problem anymore though?
Now, I believe my phone is unbranded/unlocked - any way to check?
And what radio would I need to use? I'm from denmark and the tele company is called Telia... Does it matter?
And since I'm from denmark, I can't buy any paid apps off the market, and it pisses me off, rooting will fix that right?
I'd like to use the OpenDesire ROM. But it's a bit confusing with all kinds of topics refering to eachother, and the "Ultimate guide on rooting" says that I need HBoot 0.80 and a current rom of 1.15 (or something like that), I have 2.2 >.<
Thanks in advance.

[Q] Rooting Questions

Hey, I'm gonna come with a really noobish question I gues... I've read alot of guides and such about this, but I still don't find anything that states it clearly, and it can get kinda confusing.

Go to Settings>About phone>Software information
If your phone has S/W 2.09.405.8 then you're on a generic Desire - which is a good thing!!
Next is to check the box specification - if it says you've got a 3.7" AMOLED screen then you can downgrade the HBOOT and root your phone. If it doesn't say AMOLED then you've got a bit more work involved and the information you need is in the ROM Development forum
Hey, thanks for the quick reply!
I got everything you said.
So that means I can just use Unrevoked?
And how about the market? That's one of the main reasons for me to root, so that I'd be able to access the full market?
Bump? Or something
there's no way to root a Desire with the Bootloader HBoot 0.92 known yet, which you got after you've upgraded to Android 2.2.
This means you have to downgrade the bootloader first, root it with unrevoked, ...
There are several guides out there.
But the important thing is, that you must downgrade the Bootloader in order to root your device.

Aye, I kinda wrote that
I'm interested in the market problem for me.

[Q] Error: Is your firmware too new? HELP PLEASE!!??

Hi everyone. Ok so I'm trying to root my HTC Buzz (Wildfire) using unrevoked V3.32, but it keeps saying when the phone rebooted :
Error: failed to get root. Is your firmware too new?
I've done a factory reset on my phone too cause I thought that might help; but it didn't...
I'm running Android version 2.2.1 on my HTC Wildfire.
Can ANYONE PLEASE HELP ME!?!?!
I really need to root my phone.
Also if there is another program that's better to use than unrevoked can you please tell me...
Thanks!
you can only remove security to root it with alpharev x beta

Remember though, there's no way to revert back yet, so, if you care for your warranty, don't do it, and, there's no other way to root.
Also, this is related to Wildfire Android Development?
@3xeno I don't know if this is really related to Wildfire Android Development; but I just really need some help. Ok I would really like to try it out; but I don't want to lose the phone's warranty...
Are you sure there aren't ANY other ways to root the HTC Wildfire without S-OFF???
I really can't lose the phone's warranty....
Yes I am sure, which is why I forewarned. Else I wouldn't. I would rather not see someone follow a post by me, then come back and ask "I want to revert for warranty... etc etc".
If you need warranty, you will have to wait for AlphaRev X to release the downgrader, which will remove their patched HBoot (bootloader) and restore the stock HTC one. But, there is no release date info on it, so, asking me when it would be released will be pointless, since I have no idea myself.
PS - Development is ONLY for development purposes. There is a dedicated Q and A subsection for these type of posts.
@3xeno Ok since there is no other way; I'm going to downgrade froyo to stock Android 2.1
I found a post explaining how to downgrade my Android. Do you think this will work???
My plan is to downgrade the android OS of my HTC Wildfire, and then root it using unrevoked.
No, it wont work, because its for Desire, and Desire is not equal to Wildfire. There is another thread in the Wildfire Android Development for downgrading 2.2 to 2.1, but its pointless for your purpose because it leaves the bootloader untouched.
As I have specified before, the only way for you is AlphaRev X. Looking at other phones techniques wont help because they are all pretty much unique, unless explicitly specified that it works on other devices.
Thanks for all the help.
Going to use AlphaRev X

WFS Root acces and S-OFF vs X-CLIP

Sorry for asking this but I come from Desire HD and things seem more straight forward there in regards to root and custom roms.
I see that WFS is rootable but then S-OFF has not been broken yet. What's the difference with XTC-Clip then?
From what I understood, the only way to root WFS is XTC-CLIP which allows you to have root access, install custom ROM and recovery but it will not allow you to install radio and kernel? Please correct me if I'm wrong.
My main requirement is to be able to install apps on sd and use apps like titanium backup to freeze/remove bloatware. What do I need for this?
I see that I can upgrade to latest 2.3.5 since it's not available for my region. If I do so, will it still be rootable or I will lose this and then need to downgrade like with DHD?
Again I apologise for asking all these but you see I follow a complete forum on DesireHD and I don't have time reading here as well. I want to complete this as fast as possible for my wife.
EDIT: Oh now I see, XTC-Clip is hardware. So apart from using this, WFS is non-rootable unless S-Off is achieved?

If you make your phone s-off with the XTC clip you can root your phone or flash anything you want..
You have to be s-off to remove bloatware by HTC.
You can upgrade to 2.3.5 and it will still be rootable if you s-off it..
Thanks. However, I'll need to buy that clip which I don't intend to right now so for me, it's not rootable until S-OFF is managed. Correct?
But there's a temproot http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1296916 here..
You can find a shop near you that has the clip and unlock it.

Rooting Orange DHD with Gingerbread and the AAHK

I just have a couple of questions with regards to using the AAHK with my handset. I've previously used it to root my phone, but after the ear piece became distorted I got it replaced and have a new stock handset.
I'm running version 3.13.61.5 of sense.
My understanding from reading the documentation for the AAHK, it appears it is necessary to downgrade the version of the rom to get perm root as temp root is only possible with the version I have. However there doesn't seem to be way to return to the stock rom (Orange branded) that is packaged with my phone, and I'd have to return to the unbranded HTC RUU. I want to ensure that I can claim under orange care if needed.
So firstly my question is, is there any simple way to do this with AAHK?
If not, is it possible for my to take a copy of the stock rom before applying the AAHK which I can then reapply if needed?
