You could always just run a RUU and reroot.
If that is easier for you.

I believe in a fresh install.

That's what I suggested. You also suggested the added step of unrooting and rooting again though I think that's completely unnecessary and would be a huge PITB just to get the calendar back. There's no need to throw unrooting into the mix. He should just flash the (rooted) stock ROM.

Eh it just brings everything to stock, updates the radio and so forth, just gets it all done.
That's why I suggested it.

Actually he didn't mention if he flashed a custom recovery or not so he might have to run RUU if he can't flash the stock ROM. I didn't think about that.
OP, did you flash either ClockworkMod or Among RA recovery?

If you have the calendar.apk, is the option to install non-market apps checked under settings-applications-development?

You can't just install calendar.apk because its a system app.
You would have to push it to /system/app then run fix permissions.
Flashing the stock ROM through recovery would be easiest.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App

Assuming it's a sense rom, I would just download any sense rom, then push it via adb to the /system/app folder, chmod 0744 {filename.ext}. Done.
If it's AOSP, then same instructions, but grab an AOSP rom.

I would just reflash the rom you flashed originally. Wipe Dalvik/Cache and you should be good to go.

It says he's on stock ROM right in the thread title!

Ok, it's been a while since I rooted, but, when I did you had some form of a development rom and had to flash a different one right away. There were several "stock roms" to choose from.
It may be different now, so maybe I'm wrong. If so, get over it.
OP you have tons of options to correct your situation.. the thread police can surely help you out.

I have the same issue I installed a lock ring color and for some reason it kicked out the calender widget so I'm looking just for the calender widget if anyone has it. I truly dont want to have to reinstall this rom to get it back its just takes so long to restore my data.

Reboot bootloader, select recovery, restore a nandroid, or flash a rom. It wipes the kernel when you change hboot

word of advice, always make a nandroid backup before you do anything. When you change hboot you will have to flash a rom or a nandroid restore to get past hboot

If it is would someone be able to walk me through the installation. I am confused as hell!

[ROM]Stock 2.2.1 MT4G with ROOT [LINK UPDATED 3-6-2012]v.3

THERE WILL BE NO FURTHER SUPPORT OF THIS OTHER THAN IF THE LINK GOES DOWN OR THERE IS SOMETHING DRASTICALLY WRONG WITH IT, BUT SINCE IT IS COMPLETELY STOCK AND NO COMPLAINTS HAVE COME, IT IS DONE... TY FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!!
First i would like to thank football for posting the Stock ROM this is based off of!!!
This is nothing but the Stock 2.2.1 MyTouch4G MySense ROM with ROOT and slightly debloated!!!
The only reason i did this is as a request by a person on the site and i, on occasion like to go back to stock while retaining root.
Warning!!! I Am Not Responsible For Anything That Happens To Your Device!!!
I repeat, this is nothing but the stock rom that came shipped with your phone, but has root permissions added, no tweaks, mods, nothing added and SLIGHTLY DEBLOATED!!!
I have only tried this on the newest recovery, 3.0.2.4, and with that said, dont try this on any other recovery!!! JUST SAYIN!!!
Flashing Instructions
- Download the ROM and put it on the root (main folder) of your SD card not in a folder that you have to hunt down
- Boot into recovery
- Wipe data/factory reset
- Wipe cache partition
- Wipe dalvik cache (under advanced)
- Format system (under Mounts and Storage)
***Optional, but i do it every time, just cause it makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside*** Format /sdcard, then of course you have to mountUSB storage and copy the .zip over to your phone
- Install from zip / choose zip from SD card / flash it!!
- Let it finish booting .. it will take you to the setup wizard screen .. DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING! Wait 2 - 5 minutes and then hold down the power button and reboot.
<< do not turn on wi-fi until it says so in a couple of steps >>
- Once it boots up again, it will bring you back to the setup wizard. DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING again!! Wait another 2 - 5 minutes .. then log in to Google
- You may now turn on WIFI
HAPPY FLASHING
HOW TO REPORT A PROBLEM TO ME
IF YOU DONT REPORT THE PROBLEM IN THIS FORMAT THEN I WILL IGNORE YOUR POST DUE TO THE FACT THAT YOU CANT EVEN FOLLOW THESE SIMPLE INSTRUCTION
Recovery image:
Bootloader:
ROM before flashing:
KERNEL before flashing:
Did you flasch it through CWM or Recovery?
EXACT steps taken to flash(to the T)
OPTIONAL, BUT I RECOMMEND ITA LOGCAT linked to PASTEBIN if you have adb set up, it will tell me EVERYTHING I need to know
I dont see why I have to outline a format for the info I need, but there it is!!!
Downloads and Change Logs any changes will be minor and posted directly after the download link
Stock 2.2.1 MyTouch4G w/ROOT Permissions v.DEBLOATED just what the link says, Its DeBloated a bit!!! the list of things removed is in this post HERE

Yeah, i was really surprised it hasn't been dropped before this, but someone was asking about it so i figured i would do it, since i have to contribute somehow, lol. but hey, its the first thing out of my kitchen that has been released to the masses, and its been downloaded 30 times so far, so i guess there is a demand for it! i know it isn't much, but someone needed it, so i am happy!
Thank you for this .. I was really surprised that no one had done just a stock rom. It works great.
But ... The first thing I usually check after I install a rom is go to terminal and type "free" to see if it gives me the free memory .. Unfortunately this does not .. It gives error messages.
This is the same thing that happend to me when I first rooted the phone and something went wrong ...re rooted it and works now.
With that said ... Is there something wrong with this rom in the way it has root? Or is there something more to do for this like gfree method ..
Thanks for this and helping

[Q] Will 2.3.4 OTA break S-Off?

After searching the forum and reading many posts, it still is not clear to me if the 2.3.4 OTA (I'm being prompted for 4.06) will break S-Off.
When I rooted my Incredible using Unrevoked3, the custom recovery wasn't out yet or otherwise wasn't included. I believe that I am still running stock recovery (haven't flashed any ROMs).
If I do this update will I lose S-Off or lose root?
I know this topic seems redundant, but I haven't read a clear answer.
Thanks.
I'm wondering the same thing.
I just got the last issue on skyraider 4.3 working again, and I don't really want to start over.
This is answered in the q&a forum

If you are currently 's-off' the ota will NOT break root.

What if your phone is only rooted? If you update will you lose root? I don't actually own a dinc but my friends wife keeps asking me if she should update and if she will lose root if she does. Also if she has to reroot after the update do you know of any issues doing so?
I'm having enough issues trying to get everything working with rooting my htc vivid
Thanks for any help.

If the OTA actually can be accepted with your custom recovery (debatable), you would lose root IMO. I think what Stang means is that if you're s-off, you can reflash clockwork and superuser, and reaquire root easily. So it doesn't break your ability to root again.

[Q] Return to COMPLETE Stock?

Ok so i need to send my inc 2 in for a refurb. I am currently running AOKP build 37 with aeroevans v9ics kernel and an unlocked BL. How do i return to complete stock unrooted?
i've seached all over the forum and can't find anything. It was easy with my droid x2 because you could just run the SBF with RSD Lite.
I also have the new software version 6.1 if thats any help.

Your running AOKP right now right? According to your first post you are anyways. That means your not running the 6.1 anymore. In other words you should be fine.

Hmm. What did it say as it went through the process?
It didnt say anything. It found the PG32IMG.zip file, ran it, and then returned to the bootloader screen. I tried running it again just in-case something weird happened, but same result.
also on a side note im s-on, the 6.1 OTA doesn't allow s-off at this time

I didn't think about that. That could be the issue then. No nandroid backup of your stock ROM right?
I'm thinking the best you can do is find a similar to stock ROM and install that. Most times the service techs don't look to hard at a device to see that it is running a custom ROM.

Great! Use that and then download one of the apps that helps to remove root. One such app is OTA Rootkeeper. https://play.google.com/store/apps/...m9yZy5wcm9qZWN0dm9vZG9vLm90YXJvb3RrZWVwZXIiXQ..
Hopefully that will help.

Thank heavens for my overly cautious brain
Sorry about taking you down the wrong path before. Forgot about the S-off thing with the newer version.
