[Q]Problem with restarting-PLEASE HELP PHONE=DEAD :| - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i have a fully rooted DHD with Leedroid 2.2.2. my phone suddenly freezed.after it freezed i pulled out the battery and i tried to restart, when i tapped the power button suddenly it go's to the boot screen, normally you see the htc logo and after that it will power up...now that doesn't come and i can't even open clockworkmod recovery....WHAT MUST I DO??(pleease help someone....i can't restart the phone it always go's to the android bootscreen and when i try to go to recovery the screen go's black:\

After the battery pull, hold the volume up and power button to get to recovery.... if that works, reflash and be patient
If that doesn't work, I'd post in the leedroid thread, I've heard if this before

that didn't help.....even with battery charching it doesn't go to recovery but directly to the beautiful bootscreen...

Download cwm 2.5.1.3 rename it recovery.img put it to your platform-tools directory there should be fastboot.exe file also. That all should be done on your pc where adb shell is installed. Connect your phone to usb after putting it to fastboot. Then check if it is recognized by typing adb devices after changing to platform-tools. If it is then type: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
It should flash it. Then try going in to recovery from fastboot. If succeded try: adb push "rom".zip /mnt/sdcard
Place whatever rom you DL-ed instead of "rom" and proceed with CWM.
And about 2.5.1.3 there is a link to download it in leedroid-2.2.3 thread. I think you shoud inzip it to get recovery. img
And there is some kind of time bug on DHD so may be leaving it without battery for more than 8 hours and then doig all recovery manipulation, just a thought
And may be you should reflash bootloader also, I just don't know the proper steps.

I have the same problem
impossible have recovery mode
I flashed the cmw with fastboot, as said by kgulruh, but nothing... arggg!

Then it may be corrupted eng-hboot if I spell it right. Try to flash it also with fastboot. But don't do it without reading extensively first.
I never fiddled with bootloader myself so may be wrong.
Try leaving without battery first cause after march 27 it caused a lot of trouble to many of us rooted dhd owners. It will restore bootloader to the default state. Read about it in Q&A or general about CM7 restarted issue
Don't worry after all you not bricked it yet if it can go to fastboot it is still alive.
Good luck

There is one last resourt, and it is reflash the stock rom, what I mean is download ruu for your device 1.32 put it by adb push to the root of sdcard but rename it to something like PD98IMG before pushing. And after restart hboot will autoseek that file and if found will reflash the phone to the default factory state. Then you can proceed whith rooting all over again.
But read appropriate threads before doing anything. Ask questions if unsure

The problem for me is that I can flash the ruu 1.72 in fastboot mod
but the phone restart and stay blocked to the htc screen
i changed several times of sd card, but always the same htc screen...

Pullout the battery and after a while when putting it in hold vol-.
If it is autorestarting it should go to fastboot.
My dhd had been restarting and only way to go to fastboot was what I write earlier. But at least mine loaded correctly but never switched off.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App

mine load to fastboot mod too
i launch after instalingl a new rom, phone stay blocked on htc screen
I pull out the battery but nothing different

So you can go to the bootloader? What do you see there? Post what you see pls, should be something like ACE PVT ENG S-OFF at the first line. Post the whole text, this would maybe help to figure out whats causjng your problem

[Q] Q: Desire rebooting after OTa

I have revoked my Desire version, and it have worked excellent untill now
Received the latest OTA on danish desire, install and since then I cannot use the phone
What I can do is
Boot normally, and it reboots to the white screen with a HTC logo, continues to reboot
Boot into Hboot menu
In the Hboot menu, It loads and checks the PB99IMG.zip and drops back to the Hoot menu. I have tried stock roms here and the LeeDroid V2.3B renaming both Zip files to PB99IMG.zip
If I enter the Fastboot option, I can select:
Bootloader, and I returns into the Hboot menu
Reboot, and it reboots.
Reboot Bootloader, it reloads
Power Down does as intended
If I select the recovery menu, it goes directly to a screen with a nearly black image, with a red triangle
It can clear the storage, and reboots afer 5 seconds afterwards.
If i plug in the USB cable it says Hboot USB PLUG
IF I try to run the "Fastboot erase cache " from the SDK, it just waits for the device.

any Idea on how to get my phone back to working condition?
Go into recovery mode and install a recovery.
RA-desire for example:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=839621
Pick any ROM you like and flash it using the recovery.
How do I do that? In recovery mode it just shows a red triangle? I have the SDK tools, and the RA recovery image, but I really don't get it how to install the RA recovery image, sorry

You might have to ignore a couple of the first steps as the guide assumes your phone is still working.
This is why it's been said good THOUSAND times NOT to flash an OTA on a rooted handset. PLEASE search before posting the same question

No Eddy isn't saying that at all. And I have to agree with him. Ur problem has been posted by countless other people and the solution too is on those threads. Just do a search here or on Google. You'll note that on those threads at xda, eddy himself has responded to most of them. It just involves resetting the phone to factory mode. Don't ask how. Search !

Let me close this thread once and for all.
Solution to boot loop on applying OTA update over Rooted Desire:
Do the following in sequence and proceed with each step if the previous fails:
Fastboot (Back+Power) > Bootloader > Clear Storage
Fastboot > Recovery > Wipe
Apply the corresponding RUU.
And for the RUU, kindly see the shipped roms>Bravo page.
A ruu's no fun it's like accepting defeat.

Thank you. I have tried that, but the RUU doesn't seem to reconize my phone. Unbranded desire. I hve tried with both the HTC drivers and with the Modified drivers, that are recommended by the unrevoked team..
Seems like it have to go back.

You dont need drivers for the PB99IMG.zip method. See my thread "How to Unroot-Guide for Newbies" in my signature. You didnt mention your software version. Create a goldcard and use a WWE RUU with a software version equal to or higher than the version you currently have on phone. Read that thread completely before asking qns.
and the PB99IMg method worked.. The trick I missed was to extract it from the RRU.. Tnx everybody!

Help! Stuck at htc logo

I spent all night downgrading to froyo, when I was finally at 2.2 I used the visionary method to get temp root, that worked fine, when I tried to get permanent root I couldnt get s-off so I started following another guide here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=835777
I followed all the steps and when I typed in reboot the phone rebooted and got stuck at the htc screen. I tried to turn it on with vol- and power and go into recovery but I got a black screen with a phone and error message, then it rebooted back to the htc screen and is still stuck there.
Please help! this is my only phone and I need it fixed asap
Thanks in advance!

what is your main problem
the problem is it wont load past the htc logo screen
Get a copy of the 2.2 PC10IMG.zip and reboot into your bootloader (Vol. Down + Power). If the bootloader can flash it, you should be able to boot normally. Go to the CyanogenMod Wiki and root using Rage/Gfree.

I put the PC10IMG.zip in the root of the sd card, turned the phone on (vol- and power) it found the image, there was a loading bar to the right, and then nothing happened after the load. Im still at the same bootloader and if I reboot it is still stuck at the htc screen

Okay, go back into your bootloader and flash the latest ClockworkMod recovery via Fastboot.
I assume I can find the directions on how to load clockwork through fastboot on here. If that does work and I can go into recovery would I be safe to flash a custom rom at that point

Since I will only have time to work on the phone tonight after work and I need it for tomorrow are there any other possible solutions to my problem or would flashing clockwork through fastboot be it?

For fastboot to flash recovery, the image needs to be on your comp. Open up your computer's Terminal, cd to the directory it's in, and type "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" (without the quotes).

nevermind got it
for people that are curious:
have the recovery.img (correct one! this was my problem) in the tools folder of the android sdk, open command prompt from that folder (hold shift and right click)
then run this command
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
also phone has to be in fastboot (vol- and power, then select fastboot)
I finally have recovery!
Im gonna try to load a rom now!

someone here who can guide my through my problem?
if more info is needed, please post
You tried flashing a new recovery via adb? Your recovery is still working though right? I doubt you'll need to flash a new recovery then. Try running the superwipe function in 4ext and then restore the nandroid backup. Also, if you don't restore the backup and just flash a new ROM instead, does it boot?

i can´t do anything at all. only boot into bootloader and choose fastboot. but nothing happens if i choose recovery. then the phone reboots and stuck at htc logo. i guess my phone "is completely naked"..
even updating through original ruu stucked at 20% "waiting for bootloader" or "update booting"
you say you tried to flash recovery via fastboot. maybe pd98img would work...
Yes. There is a thread somewhere in the development forum which has a link to download the stock ROM in PD98IMG.zip form. Search in all threads with 'RUU' in their title. That's the only type of file you can flash in fastboot. Only stock ROMs and radios work that way. Download that file, put it in the root of your SD card, boot into bootloader and wait. It'll detect it itself and ask if you want to flash it. That should work. You'll be back to stock though and will have to root and s-off again.

[Q] I bricked my One X

Hi there,
I have recently bricked my HOX by trying to install the latest BinDroid ROM.
I did root the device properly and I dont know what went wrong during the ROM installation.
Short story; the device stuck on bootloop and now runs out of juice. Is there any way to get it back to work or I just have to send it to HTC for repair.
What exactly did you do and when did it fail.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
If you have flashed the most recent recovery you can charge in recovery, I would suggest plugging in.
Turn on by holding power + volume down
If you get the white hoot screen go into recovery and leave it to charge.
Your rom is probably bootlooping because you didn't manually flash the boot.IMG that came with the Rom in fastboot
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
The problem is, I already relocked my HOX to install stock RUU, but the power is less than 30%.
Ok. I have done this in the past.
Plug phone in to wall
Power on.
Choose power off.
Phone will reboot
Repeat process many times.
While the phone is rebooting it is actually charging for a few second
You may have to do this quite a while to get above 30 %
Once there unlock and boot into recovery so you can charge to full
Learn the lesson and don't play with low battery

Hey I know you've already got it to charge but for other people's information according to the wiki and further to the other users comment you could leave the screen on the HTC quietly brilliant screen and it would still continue to charge although it doesn't appear to be. It really is.
Dno if you've fixed it but now you need to try either a nandroid back up and flash the boot.img inside that via fastboot on your computer. Or a custom Rom and flash THAT boot.img via fastboot.
I hope to god you've got one of those on the root of your phone storage, otherwise your last resort is a ruu

It's okay, everyone starts somewhere and i don't pretend to be a professional but i'll try help. And yeah the HTC quiterly brilliant screen was just incase you didn't have enough charge to enter fastboot
Basically a nandroid back up is a back up file created by a custom recovery (e.g. Clockwordmod), this backs up EVERYTHING, your whole system and rom (it's important to do these before flashing custom roms, incase anything goes wrong). But anyway, i doubt you've done that so moving on.
Basically our HTC one x's cannot be S-off at the moment, so because of this we only have access to certain parts of the system and boot files.
You need to find the rom you put on your HTC One X and put it on your computer (or download it from somewhere). Unzip it and find the boot.img. This process is sort of like the one where you unlocked your bootloader.
You need to plug your phone into the computer which has SDK tools and everything installed and enter CMD - and put your phone into fastboot usb mode.
Assuming you followed HTC dev method you'd copy the boot.img out of the rom folder you unzipped earlier and place it in C:/Android
Open command prompt (windows) or the linux/MAC variant
and type the following
cd C:/Android
then
fastboot flash boot boot.img
This will flash the boot.img for your rom
then type
fastboot erase cache (i think)
and reboot your phone through the bootloader. It should now boot.
:good:

[Q] HTC One V VM CDMA Boot Loop Help

Hello, I am In serious need of some help.
My problem is that my device boots up to the HTC logo with the red writing then the lightning bolt shows and the short boot video plays but the sound is all distorted and cuts out half way through. Then it reboots. This is an endless and annoying cycle so I hold power + volume down and run fastboot to get the shutdown option.
Here is what I did.
I was trying to root my device so I unlocked the bootloader. I then was going to use r1-primo-cdma-superboot.zip but my computer was having trouble downloading the file and I ended up getting redirected to Tweaked Stock Boot.img I then flashed the device with fastboot and that .img file and got a broken phone as a result.
Since then I have tried many things including the RUU but I wasn't sure what one to use so I tried multiple RUU files that sounded right however I kept getting "error 115 : Unknown Error" when trying to recover.
I am more than happy to provide any information and I understand some is needed to properly diagnose the issue but I am not sure what information is needed or how to access it.
Also I downloaded PACman v15.3 primoc inyourface09.zip and flashed the kernel. Before I did that I only got the HTC boot image on startup. After flasing the kernel the boot loop included the lightning bolt and short boot video with distorted sound. I could not flash the ROM though because the "/sdcard" dir is an internal directory and the actual sd card dir is "/sd-ext" so the bootloader cant do it. I also tried sideloading the PACman.zip with "adb sideload PACman.zip" with no luck.
Sorry to just throw all this out there but I really don't know what else to do I have been trying to figure this out for 3 days straight lol so I look forward to hearing any advice at all.

Yes I did try that but it didn't work. I think the problem is that I don't have a ROM but I also have no way of flasing the ROM to the device because the sdcard mounts as "/sd-ext" but the bootloader will only look in "/sdcard"
Thanks anyway lol

I can access the recovery via the bootloader but as I mentioned the bootloader tries to find the .zip file in "/sdcard" and my sdcard mounts to "/sd-ext" also when I try to sideload via adb all I get is the adb help screen. Its like adb sideload <filename.zip> isn't the right command.

Sorry but this sdcard and sdext is confusing, access the recovery and try to install zip from sd card (or sd ext), always put the roms in your micro sd, if from the recovery you can see the rom, then you have no problem at all. Once you install the rom, you go in the bootloader and flash the kernel, but not from the recovery, you flash it via fastboot.

Ok this makes sense. So from what I can tell the device was soft bricked and the /sdcard would not mount. I saw a fix that required the stock recovery but I couldn't get it to work however I did fix the issue by flashing the TWRPrecovery.img and formatted to ext3. Now I can flash ROMs but they keep bootlooping.
The new ROM boots up and about 2 minutes after everything is done it reboots. I have tried a few different ROMs and always wipe the data and everyhting but I cant find any answers.
Any Ideas?

I believe this will solve my issue.
My only question is what RUU do I use.
I have a VM HTC One V CDMA
Bootloader shows:
PRIMOC PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.53.0000
RADIO-1.00.00.0928
eMMC-boot
YES!!! I finally got back to stock settings. Thank you so much for all the advice along the way. xda-developers saved my ass all the way!
The last post solved the issue
Glad I helped you out

What Rom did you use
what Rom did you use that finally worked? Or did you just use a working backup.
As far as I can see, no rom has a radio yet for 1.0.0.0928.
please help: boot loop after kernel flash/rom flash
okay i hope someone on here can give me specific details on how to fix this pain in the @$$ problem lol
i rooted phone unlocked boot loader but for some damn reason it'll boot up like it's booting up
into the custom recovery (which i have twrp) the htc brilliant screen with red text here are the problem
after i installed or flashed them
1.) after loading rom/kernel i would be stuck at the "htc quietly brilliant" screen w/ the red text stays there
or i get this issue
2.) the htc queitly brilliant with red text comes up then boots phone but goes through boot loop
phone make model:
htc one v (cricket) with htc sence
hboot version: 1.57.0000
s-on
radio-1.00.05.0929
again boot loader is unlocked and phone is rooted or at least was i did factory reset it a few times out of frustration and did full wipe of phone
any help would be greatly appreciated thanks please help.

any suggestions why it would boot loop continuously still?
kernel maybe? all i did was did a full wipe and installed BlueSensev1.0.zip file located on these forums

You have twrp in your working fastboot folder and the command 'fastboot flash recovery recovery.img' was used? Did it say sending recovery image in your command prompt?

You need an OTA kernel. I will do some digging and try to dig one up. I am assuming you are primou since you are using hellboy?
cant boot into recovery
Hi, dont know if im posting this in the right section, but i have my one v rooted and the bootloader unlocked. i flashed the boot.img over and it was successful. i at first kept getting the phone with the triangle and red exclamation mark then after using the all in one tool kit i recieved after trying to boot into recovery the white htc start up screen with "this build is for development purposes only". i have cwm and twrp on the phone and tried to flash the cwm boot.img if im not mistakin. i just need to know why i would be getting this and what steps i may have missed in the process would be helpful. thank you in advance.
