Help! How to install Android on my Touch Pro 2?

Hi there,
First of all! Great forum! You guys have build a great community and I like it. But I hope you can help me with this. i know there are a lot of threads about this, but because all the different type of phones/android versions ect... I don't know what to do...
My question, how can I get Adroid running on my HTC Touch Pro 2 (Rhodium). I have the standart version, so not a branded one.
I've tried to install it but android won't launch. Maby one of you could create a mini tutorial or a noob tutorial, because I think there are more people like me (with less knowedge of phone tech) who want to run android on their phones. I hope you could help me!

Instructions for .cab:
Cab is only WWE for the moment. If you still want to try this build skip down to the .rar for any other language.
If you are installing this over an old version of android, and you do not format your SD card, make sure that you at least delete data.img file from your SD card!
Copy to SD card
Install: This .cab does install directly to your SD card.
Soft Reset your handset
Run Haret from start menu and enjoy!

Haret is part of the android program. (haret.exe)
You can either use a file explorer to navigate to storage card/android/haret
or with the .cab installs (anything after 2/22) you will get an icon in your start menu.

yea thanks i did a little digging and was finally able to understand that

i dont know why posts like this are started. its so easy to use this perfect cab file! nothing else to do. if people would read just 10 minutes in other threads all questions should be answered...

how could it be simpler?

Hi Thanks I've used that thread but used the wrong cab. Didn't know that rhod100 is the standart version
Thank you! It works now, but is it a known problem that you cant fill in the correct code (PIN code for your SIM?).
And second I can't charge my battery with the usb cable is this also a known problem?

Disable your pin in WinMo as stated in my release notes.

NO there is no android version with working wifi for rhodium yet...

I have Android installed on my phone and it works fine except one MAJOR thing. I messed up the touch screen calibration and now I can't use the touch screen in android and I cant figure out how to recal the touch screen in android.
Got it. i just deleted the ts calibration file from the android project folder and started android again.

Ok man maybe you can help me out with the problem im having. I go to file explorer and i launch Haret.exe and it immediately takes me to the linux booting page with the penguin at top. But it soon stops saying "Cant access tty. Job control turned off. And it doesnt move from there. What am i doing wrong?

delete all the contents from the .cab file you downloaded, make sure your memory card has wiped any remaining files from the original download, re-install and make sure you are downloading the correct .cab file for your handset, install to memory card and try again.

Someone else will help them out. It's not that serious. I can tell you one problem here that I encountered was a thread would be started and trail off into someting completely different never answering the first question. After reading pages upoon pages you get nothing. Some people like myself have real lives and real jobs and dont have time to sit here and read every post. If you take it so serious maybe you should sticky an informative how to guide and maybe that will stop people from bothering you so much.

I was actually on XDA for about 6 months, reading, before I finally decided to even MAKE an account, because I didn't want to be "That Noob". It was about another 6 months to a year before I posted anything at all. As you said yourself, most questions have already been asked a million times. This means that it is only a matter of reading, before you find someone that has asked the same question. In most cases once you find the question, and read a little further it leads you to the answer. He was smart enough to post in the correct sub-forum, which means he must have read through the forums a bit anyways. It wouldn't have taken much more work to read the top 3 sticky threads in that same sub-forum, and find the answer to the question.

I can get the whole thing to load however I cannot ever get the start screen (touch the androind to start) to ever let me touch it. The only thing that works is the keyboard input. Any suggestions?

[W O R K I N G] Kaiser-Buntu - Ubuntu on the HTC Kaiser (!UPDATED w/DL-links!)

Hello everyone,
I am happy to inform all those folks who waited for a full Linux operating system on the HTC Kaiser PDA that today a little bit modified version of Zubuntu finally booted successfully on my HTC Kaiser.
It is a really in the alpha-state but it works, let's see what do we have:
TouchScreen: works perfectly with calibration
Screen: looks good. but programs doesn't support Kaiser's small resolution. You can fix this by using INTERPOLATION, but this makes picture quality a lot worse. To try it out edit the default.txt, find the mddi.height and mddi.weight values and change to for example 480 and 360.
Keyboard: works exactly as expected, some fine tuning with the keyboard map will be done

Not tested/not working:
WiFi (MY #1 ISSUE, TRYING TO FIX): I extracted the wifi section from an Android rootfs, successfully modprobed wlan.ko, dmesg shows that the driver is loaded OK, but:

ifconfig tiwlan0 up
ifconfig: ioctl (SIOCDIFADDR): Can't assign requested address
TI's WLAN_LOADER program didn't work either, so now I am moving to the other driver (wl12xx)
Bluetooth (Driver is there, no BT programs installed, couldn't test it)
3G
Cameras
Phone (NO dialer, nothing, however perhaps gsm-libs can help us firing it up)

I wouldn't count on it even remotely fitting on the NAND. Besides, you'll probably have to have half the apps on an SD card anyway...

how about a build that will work with the new nomorootfs installers so hose of us like me can try it without going back to winmo, Would like to install to ext2.img files or sdcard partitions.
And is this remotely close to the MER Linux build that progress seems to be halted on I was able to get it to work

I wouldn't recommend installing it to NAND (it doesn't work so good, for example I didn't have time to test power/suspend).
Xwindows works perfectly (except the resolution issue).

The problem is that the rootfs is not for the Kaiser and the Xserver uses some hardcoded resolution (that means there is no config file for it) so circa half of the windows are too big for the screen. It is not a big problem because you can move them around so it is easy to get to one of the corners and resize them so you can see the whole thing at once.
Fixing this is on my To-Do list

Driver support is there, but AFAIK no frontend yet.

This intrigues me muchly, but why ubuntu/debian based?
There are other, (and imho simpler), bases to build on, slackware springs to mind, and there are some tiny distros out there, which may also be worth looking at, to say nothing of the likes of Familiar, an interesting candidate for a non-android htc-linux.

HTC Sense 2.5 weather - how to add custom city using PC

Hello everyone - just another way to add custom city to Sense 2.5 enabled PDA. This time via PC. I do not pretend that it the only way - just sharing what I`ve got.
You will need:
SQLite Administrator
homepage
file named 2330fc3c_manila - it can be found in /windows directory
Total Commander PPC
your city weather code (locCode) in accuweather.com database. For example, for Paris in France, Accuweather URL is : _www.accuweather.com/en-us/EUR/FR/FR012/PARIS/quick-look.aspx?partner=accuweather&metric=0
The locCode is EUR|FR|FR012|PARIS
Ok. Here we go.
turn off sense.
copy 2330fc3c_manila elsewhere to your PC, do not forgive to remove read-only atribute.
open 2330fc3c_manila in SQLite Administrator, do not forgive to check "all files".
find the city in your country you do not need - you will replace it whith your own city. go Tables->cities->Fields->cityName
and edit values correspondingly. as the matter of fact - only accuweatherCode is needed to obtain weather - so input it careful.
close SQLite Administrator
copy 2330fc3c_manila to your PPC /windows folder
reboot your PPC
enable Sence 2.5 and enjoy
Tested on At&t FUZE whith Energy.RAPHAEL.23569.Sense2.5.Cookie.Dinik.Glass.Jun.12.
here are good apps righten by JVH3 for weather editing in sense 2.5. I suggest to try it at first, because it is more easy way . besides JVH3 is sort of angry for me starting this thread

didn`t know about your apps, have try almost anything with latest energy rom - only method I mention above helps. AFAIK this is universal way regardless of sense version, but not the user friendly.

BTW - That thread has a ton of useful information in its 30 posts.
Once TouchFLO 3D 2.1 came out, nothing worked anymore, so I created the app at the link. Then I added support for Sense 2.5.

It already does that.
When you start the app, it shuts down sense or touch flo 3d.
Then, if it was running when you started the app, when you exit with the left soft button labeled Exit, it restarts it.

Post a link to the ROM you are flashing. I have an Extra Fuze, so it's no trouble for me to flash it and test. I'm guessing that there might be more than 1 variety of the Gen Y ROM.

You already test it - and say everything is good. so looks like problem on my side

PSAS 1.5 with TFS Browser (Samsung Modem)
PSAS can create folder.
BUT folder can't be delete.
Write protected. So maybe this is 1 reason why not possible in sTune...

Seems Original leaked Samsung stuff, but extreme old... 2001 or something.
Not really tested yet by me.
Maybe someone saw newer Version TkFileExplorer?
PSAS will soon offer few more features.

You can use mini commander on the phone to access all the internal files of the phone. its a java version..

mini commander sounds interessting.

I had a good play with TkFileExplorer. It should be able to connect with the Wave, but I was not able to make a connection stick.
TkFileExplorer isn't very friendly in terms of how to set it up, but I was able to get it to at least try and connect to the phone. However it times out afterwhile, and you see there's a new drive letter P:. But it disappears from TkFileExplorer as soon as you click ok on the error message screen.
I tried connecting it in Kies mode and also usb debugging mode. Still not sure which one it's supposed to be set to. But I did find some posts for older Samsung phones where they connected in PC Studio mode.
I'm going to try again on another computer as I think the usb drivers and such might be conflicting.
It might help to know what the COM settings are that WaveBackup and sTune use to connect to the phone. I've been leaving all the settings at default but there might be some trickery that needs to occur.

You're welcome! I just uploaded Version 1.0.10 to my homepage. It has an option to add files and folders to a 'blacklist' so that they won't be copied in file explorer operations anymore.

Oh, sorry, you're right. Something must have gone wrong with the upload. I've fixed that now, so just download it again from my homepage (can't put external links here yet).

Version 1.0.12 of WaveBackup is up since a few days. I have done some smaller changes to stop annyoing owners of Wave II and 723 with that long error-message when connecting. Another change is that sizes of folders will be displayed now in explorer view, when the complete folder tree has been fetched. I've also fixed a few bugs.
Oh, and last but not least: Files can be copied now to the phone in explorer view (but still restricted to some special folders (<Appid>/Data for example)
I still can't post in the other bada board here, where the 'real' WaveBackup Thread can be found, so i hope everyone there sees this too!

I found a "new" version of TkFileExplorer - 2.4, it works fine with my Wave. TkFileExplorer is able to delete or rename folders and it is more stable than sTune.

[Android-DEV-testing] Panel power up fix

I'm opening another testing thread for android development.
This thread aims at testing the diamond panel power up / down code that I've reworked.
It has been already tested on my DIAM100 with a sharp panel but I need some more tests on different diamonds. From what I've seen, the diamond 500 do not yet have any panel code but I need some diam500 users to confirm that with a small log.
THIS THREAD IS FOR PEOPLE WHO KNOW HOW TO USE ANDROID AND ADB.
Any feedback is welcome. If you're experiencing problems, please attach a dmesg log so that I can analyze the problem, otherwise I probably won't be able to do anything to help you.
People who wants to help but don't know how to make a dmesg log should start by searching for a guide on the forum. Once you've got adb working and know how to make a dmesg log, then follow the small instructions bellow.

Logging instructions:
If you want to make a usefull dmesg log, then follow these few steps :
1/ Reboot your phone (that way, I can get the boot log, which contains tons of usefull debug outputs).
2/ Once the phone is booted into android, make a first dmesg log to ensure we have all the boot logging data
3/ Now, turn off / on 3 times the screen
4/ Make a new dmesg log
5/ Post the two dmesg logs along with a short description of the problem you encoutered (i.e screen does not power up or must be "forced" to be turn on by blind touching the unlock bar, ...).

Just an idea: wouldn't you get a much broader reply if you create an initrd script that does all that logging stuft onto the FAT partition automatically?

virus if we lower screen resolution of diamond l480 x 640 in to 320 x 240 we can gain speed i dont know how to do it like james which is doing rhalp nand project did in ralp n gain speed as 36.5 in neocore like huawe u8150 hav same processor as diamond n running on 320 x 240 resolution ?? i was wondering if this is possible ppl tried but they are unable to find data sheet od diamond if u could help in this helicopter88 did lower but he dont know how to scale ?

virus if we lower screen resolution of diamond l480 x 640 in to 320 x 240 we can gain speed i dont know how to do it like james which is doing rhalp nand project did in ralp n gain speed as 36.5 in neocore like huawe u8150 hav same processor as diamond n running on 320 x 240 resolution ?? i was wondering if this is possible ppl tried but they are unable to find data sheet od diamond if u could help in this helicopter88 did lower but he dont know how to scale ?

In fact, helicopter88 has already contacted me for this downscale but I don't have any clue on how it does work. Right now, my aim is not especially to get the diamond running faster but to improve the panel power on/off because I've got this fix for a long time now but before submitting it for the main tree, I must have some tests on different devices.
Maybe if helicopter88 or james have successfully reduced the resolution we can see how to make it available for all users if it really accelerate the global device speed.
Datasheet are not available for most of the components of our devices and qualcomm have protected all those stuffs with DNA and things like that. We have a few application notes but nothing really specific to one phone or one component. The only way we can work is with other official kernels and reverse engineering.

No datasheet for our phone,is really hard to find what needs to be changed to scale the display..

this one consuming battery as i think and screen is pretty gud thn other kernls

Nice work! thanks for looking in that matter ! That issue kept me from using android since it was quite a pain to wake the panel up !
Now the screen powers up pretty faster, even though i still see some glitches sometimes (but less than before) and seems like it's more difficult to power it on while it's sleeping (sleep mode is set on 1 in startup).
I'll do a dmesg later on, if I remember well, my diam has a toshiba panel..

Thanks very much for bundle. I had some problems with running haret (it always does softreset after start..) but it seemed to be problem of energy rom, I flashed back stock rom and it works fine.
I had also problem with calibration but deleting calibration file solved id.
Now, android is running quite well, but I can't download anything from market. (It always says after while that download was unsuccesfull). I have google account, synchronizing with gmail works fine but market not.
Can you help me with that?
