fin Rom ...what can i do? - Defy General

Hi , i'm new to this forum
1 week defy owner!
But i discovered that my defy has this rom:
3.4.2-145 Finnland Deblur.
I'm not satisfied of this rom, now what rom i can flash on this?
Is not downgradable i think?
thanks a lot.

Flash up to 3.4.3 -11 and use Pays Rom 5.1

Or you can flash 3.4.3-11 (latest and most stable one) and use LiquidArc by JBoogie
It's fast and beautiful!

Any original ROM?

What do you mean by Original?

The only Official 2.2 is the Korea ROM, but it has some problems to people outside of Korea. The most stable and tested stock rom is 3.4.2-155-002, the most used now as base for other roms is 3.4.3-11. Here are a brief list of custom rom's that i like
1 - xd1 and barebones: comes with almost nothing, extremely customizable and optimized, really quick, low on resources.
2 - Jboogie rom's LiquidArc (based on the launcher from Xperia Arc, that i feel a bit laggy, but changing the launcher the system is quick), BlurGinger (solid, stable rom, with beatiful personalizations, optimized, but a little average on resources since it uses Motorola Blur, best i have used for starters)
There are other interesting roms, like Pays 5.1, Froyo CEE Go Edition, DefyFroyoSense, but my experiences with them was not that good. At the moment i'm using barebones (was using BlurGinger since Sunday, changed today).

Taking the plunge!

Think i am ready to take the plunge to root my desire and also install a custom ROM. Just have a few queries that need some clarification and suggestions.
1. My radio version is 5.09.05.30_2 do i need to update this when when installing a custom ROM
2. Suggestions on Sense custom ROMs that have fast kernels with low battery drain. I have read a lot about Cyanogen ROMs which seems quite popular but its a non Sense ROM and would appreciate one with Sense. Kinda Like it.
Thanks in anticipation of the goodies!!
1. See what radio the ROM developer suggests and use that
2. I'd go all out and use the RCMixHD ROM - easily the best Sense-based ROM available and it's based on the Desire HD ROM...but that's just my opinion (wait for the LeeDroid brigade to chime in!!)
I'm far from an expert but i just flashed the latest radio onto my phone and went for LeeDroid 2.2f, which i've been running for a week or two, seems pretty stable so far. I was planning on trying a few ROMs before i get too settled into one.
which radio would that be?
For latest radio, see my signature. But as said, it's best to use the one recommended in the ROM thread if in doubt
LeeDroid seems to be quite appealing at the moment. Any known bugs for 2.2f
Don't know, not a fan of LeeDroid - don't like the custom wallpapers and apps that are used. Prefer mine to look as stock as possible
Which ROMs look as stock as possible?
Teppic's is basically stock with root access and optional extras
I haven't found any bugs at all yet, my current radio is 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27 which definately works fine with LeeDroid 2.2f, well it does on my Desire at least !
Any links to where i could get that Teppic's and is it stable with improved speed and low battery drain? Sorry am asking too many questions
Go look for it in ROM development - it's not that hard to do
What's LeeDroid like on battery?

VillianRom and PinkyDesire are both excellent choices.
LeeDroid Brigade here...... I have tried every ROM possible and the latest LeeDroid offering ,2.2f, is by far the most stable bug free ROM I have ever used. The RCMixHD ROM is very good, if you can live without the camera for the time being.

[Q] walter roms

Hi , wich differences are between these roms :
[ROM]MS2Ginger (19.10.2011) Android 2.3.4
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1140839
[ROM]Defy+ 2.3.4-134 DFP 74, blur, 720p,panorama, 1%
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1285007
im asking because i already use the second and i dont know if change it for the first one , thanks and sorry my english .
Hi eze
I also use the 2nd ROM you listed there, which i believe is a snapshot of Walter's STOCK Defy+ ROM (i have installed it on my regular defy and it's overclocked and running perfectly so far for about 2 weeks)
I know that walter mentioned in his main thread support for it would stop and he will be working on the MS Ginger stuff.
If i can get to use it with the existing 2ndinit + CWR mod 4.0.0.5 (i think) then i might do a nandroid backup and give it a whirl !
I too use the second of those ROMs, and have been doing for over three weeks. I did try the MS2Ginger ROM when walter released the new version but I switched back fairly quickly. It looked to me as if the MS2Ginger ROM was still based on the Chinese GB - the keyboard in MS2Ginger certainly seemed to have Chinese input as an option - whereas I thought his intention had been to use the German Defy+ GB as the basis for the new version of MS2Ginger. Based on a short trial of MS2Ginger, and reading the XDA thread, I think it is still a work in progress whereas the German-based one seemed much more solid. I haven't felt the need to ask walter for support for the German-based ROM so his decision to withdraw support hasn't been an issue for me.
I'll probably keep an eye on the MS2Ginger thread and maybe give it another go if it looks like becoming more stable.

Yet another What ROM

I am interested in upgrading Mrs Dutchship's Green-eyed Defy as it has begun to occasionally misbehave. It has remained on the original UK 2.1 ROM since new around 13 months ago and needs a refresh.
The main criteria for a new ROM (in order of importance):
1. Stable / Reliable
2. Familiar (Moto style ROM with that Blur rubbish (although the Social Networking stuff is not used))
3. Needs Swype (is it possible to add this to any ROM?)
4. Not rubbish battery life (undervoltable would be great)
5. Easy install with no ongoing support required (for me)
I think the options are to either factory reset the current ROM, update it to a factory 2.2 ROM, to a dejunked Motorola 2.2 ROM (if they exist), or try a wholly custom ROM (CM7, despite looking at first glance to not be 100% reliable?)
If anybody could recommend any of these it'd be most helpful. Based on my experience with a Desire HD I'd go for a tidied up / improved stock ROM if possible, but would be happy to hear other suggestions.
Thanks in advance, and apologies for Yet another What ROM thread!

There are a few options available too you really.
1. Just perform the upgrade to the latest 2.2.2 defy froyo rom doing this will keep all the motoblur features.
2. CM7 Is a great aosp rom which is highly customizable i use it on all my handsets light, fast and stable. But no motoblur.
3. You can use a fixed sbf to goto 2.3.6 gingerbread with moto blur, and use the greenbread mod for camera fix, the reason i say use a fixed sbf is so you can downgarde back to 2.2 incase you dont like it, whatever you do, dont flash a full gingerbread sbf as you wont be able to downgrade.
4. Try one of the many custom roms in the dev section but i cannot give you any input on these as i only use cm7.

walter79's ROMs (modified motorola ROM's) are held in high regard here. You can check out a few...I personally don't not know which ones are good, but you can definitely tell by reading around a bit

[Q] miui v4 arc s

Hi, i have some quastions about the miui v4 roms.
-I am on stock sony ICS rom so do i need to flash a kernel ?
-Is it good for every day use ? (stable)
-How smooth is it compared to the stoch ICS rom ?
I posted it here because I can't post it the devolper section, because of the 10 posts.
It wasn't a question for devs section anyway....
All the indications are on the official MIUI page.
- I think that you have to flash a custom kernel.
- It is stable and quite fast. The overall experience comes from the number of apps installed....

-Naw. Miui v4 can be used with Stock kernel.
-Not from my experience. I tried it last weekend, and basically everything is slow.
-Way worse. I don't recommend using it. I recommend using GB MIUI instead.
Think I wait for a while, bootloader is still locked so keep that way until it works good. But thanks for reply's

Which ROM do you recommend?

I'm thinking about changeing ROM in my Desire, Right now I'm using MildWild 5 (from here) but it's missing few small things I need.
Which of GB ROMs do you recommend? Why GB? Because I would like to have Camera fully working (only one 4.0 ROM has it running, but that ROM is only in English and Chinese).
Looking for something stable, this is the most important for me, someting that doesn't have problems with battery and of course has camera fully working. Also it need to have more then just english and chinese language
Would be nice if it was something based on Sense ROM's with few adjustments. Have tried already LeeDroid and I'm thinking about using it once again, but wanted to know if there is something else worth to try.
Thank you

PS: to have a sense feel, use supernova rom
there is cool ex sense ics themed rom or you could try mildwild for a stock ,dont go for any sense rom base on 3.5 or higher found they lag like hell
any rom based on sense 3.0 and below works well .

If u want stable , u should go to stock rom
Mildwild is still my favourite since its fast and stable.
I tried ChromiumRom for its look but found it to be a little laggy for my daily usage http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2205516
MIUI-XJ was my first rom and really liked for its ability to switch up themes easily in 2.3.7 and its "iPhone-esque" feel but soon realised it was a bit heavy on resources and thus battery suffered.
Desire is getting old now so i would say go for the latest 'stable and fast' blend of ROM.
Presumably you are needing video camera to work fully, not just the still camera?
CarbonRom KitKat 4.4.3 and AOSB KitKat 4.4.4 - these are my favorites.
4.4.4 Beanstalk RC6
It's faster than GB!
Do you want stability and absolutely everything working? Then go for any (aosp preferably) gingerbread rom.
Do you want bleeding edge of development? Then go for the latest evervolv nightly based on 4.4.4 android. But you should forget video recording and expect some rough edges and no guarantees on stability.
It is a matter of choice after all.

There are quite a few Stable, GB Roms with a working camera, I am using Nlooooo's stock sense GB Rom with everything fully working (inc 720p Video Recording), its rooted, and has a2sd support.
Here is the link if youre interested, in my opinion its the best ROM ive ever had on the Desire. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1523325
All the best
