I see they got it to boot on their Desires and are freakin out, rightfully so. I wonder if the G2s will get a port..if I knew anything about deving I would be over this like flies on sh*t, but alas..I know nothing..
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App

Thanks for the link. And I bet our devs would love to get it going. I've looked around and the vision seems to be one of the more buzzing forums in terms of development. And I agree, if I could then I would most definitely port it as well. It'll get working on our visions, considering our hardware is more accelterated and powerful than the desire. I know ill be getting the Sensation asap, but the G2 is a great phone and great for flashing roms, etc.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA Premium App

The original Desire got it booting? I know the DHD guys got it booting (without a touchscreen though).
If none of our devs take this up, which I doubt, I'll try port the DHD port of the Sensation. Which I'll fail.
Meh.

Dammit, it was the DHD guys :-(

Better than the Desire devs. Easier porting for us!

I hope a dev gets this to work....

Exactly.

Desire Z - with XDA Premium

RMK is taking a look at it, if it's not too difficult you guys may have a base to tweak off of in the next few days... don't quote me though... he did say he was looking at it though on IRC...

Eh.. don't really believe htc when it comes to this whole specs thing.. G1 shouldve stopped on cupcake.. and it can run Gingerbread.

I completely agree. If my old G1 could run windows98, Sense, and even 2.3 without much trouble then the G2 should have NO problem I would think.

Yeah I agree. I think that they just say that to completely knock out any questions people would ask. But we'll see of course.

30ma draw in standby

I have been running Desire S Port sense 2.1 Gingerbread on my Desire Z for about 5 days now and although it seems very reliable I cannot get the battery draw under 29 MA (using current widget) on standby. I have frozen most apps, tried 8 different radios, switched to GSM only and still cannot get better than 29 MA ?
I also use an inspire 4G and consistently get 1 to 3 MA while on standby.
Has anybody else worked on this with this rom? I have not tried freezing sense yet as that is one of the reasons I wanted this rom.
Any help would be appreciated.
I think your in the wrong section bro.

[Q] Most ROMS?

A question of curiosity, does the Droid Incredible have the most ROMs? If it doesn't which phone does?

OG Droid, first "droid" since Verizon bought the rights to use Droid in advertising for their Android phones.
G1 is the first Android Device.
And of course to answer the OP's original question, I'm going to say either the Nexus One or the G1. Both are known as true developer's phones. I mean, they have Gingerbread running on the G1!
What is the best ROM for the incredible , I am rooting my wifes phone and looking for a good rom. any help would be appreciated....

[ROM/PORT][11/17/11]BlackICEv1.23

Hello again haha. Here is another port for another phenomenal ROM.. I just love porting I enjoy the time people put into developing .
This is blackICE ported over from the Desire HD thread,I ported this a while ago but never got the chance to share also. It was an outdated port so I scraped that and ported it fresh over again..
I take no credit all goes to the Project-X Team and its Contributors for developing a aosp beast .

I do have 1 problem that I ran across, when I went to update 4ext on the market it said that the app wasn't compatible with my device. Is there something in the build.prop that its making the market think this is a different phone? I looked through it and couldn't see anything wrong.

Is this line in your build.prop?
ro.build.fingerprint=tmobile/htc_glacier/glacier:2.3.4/GRJ22/95282:user/release-keys
I ported a rom from the G2 once and i had to copy in that info from a mytouch 4G build.prop because the market thought my device was a G2.

I think HTC thinks Sense (2.1/3.0/3.5) won't run on the DInc. I also thought that Sense 3.5 was supposed to be the version that didn't require the hardware requirements that 3.0 required, so I would think that would've been the version they could've used instead of 1.0... At this point, I don't think HTC will release any more updates for this phone.
Sad really, cause it's a work-horse.

I think it was more along the lines of this was going to be the last official update so they were not going tto take the time to build 2.1 sense on a device they no longer support. They just wanted to update the base and interlace sense 1.0 and push it out. They did the same with the EVO.

HTC and most manufacturers out there seem clueless. I mean imagine a world where the UOT Kitchen wasn't something developers had to come up with over months of dissecting the phone, but rather a software program that came with your Incredible that allowed you to plug your phone into your computer and make simple color changes and things to personalize your phone.
It's sad really because HTC is so great in some ways - they did afterall, put out the Dinc to begin with. But they do tend to move on to new phones fast...
Thank God for XDA developers!

Google never released Honeycomb; besides, its a tablet OS so it really has nothing for phones.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Oh....I'm sure if google was to release it the devs here on xda can manage to boot it on the g2....I've seen a youtube video of the phone with honeycomb but its completly useless
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
Google did release honeycomb's source the day after ICS's source was released, No one has cooked it into a rom and honestly its not worth the effort.
dev's wouldn't bother building roms from source, when newer source is released.
Also, they would have the same issues with camera and fm radio not working in honeycomb if anyone tried making it, as no drivers have been made/released for our devices past gingerbread.
-Nipqer
If I recall the phone portions of the OS were completely borked anyways. Which is why the big G never released the code.
Did they actually release HC code with ICS release? I thought it was just that ICS included the HC changes plus everything fixed for phones.

Sooooo about these drivers does google have to release them or do we here at xda have to cook up our own because I believe the next ics relase should have a working camera right?
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
Google doesn't build the drivers, the manufacturers build drivers to make Android work with each different set of hardware. Its possible for the devs to do, but its very time consuming. HTC isn't going to make HC drivers for our device, since HC is tablet only. And effort (both HTC and devs here) is probably better spent on ICS for the reason that ICS is mostly HC but including phone functionality, and a few other features and optimizations.

Camera kinda works means, it has some functionality, but is far from perfect.
You can't do video capture, and the camera struggles with anything above VGA resolution. So nowhere near the 5MP the sensor can offer.
It is quite hard work to get this **** working fully, you should appreciate what they have done so far. So stop *****ing that it ain't perfect.
-Nipqer
I thought you need to run a camera app for the camera to work properly.
Plus I can live without the Desire's camera, not exactly that great.
