A New One: Case for Spare Battery?? - Thunderbolt Accessories

Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for a case for the standard HTC battery for the TB? Because of the poor battery life, I have two standard batteries (the large capacity battery is too big for my jeans pockets). But I do need to need something to hold the spare in as the original package is falling apart. I was initially thinking of something like one of those plastic SD card cases...??

Use a cassette holder.

I cut and glued a Tyvek envelope and made a little pouch for mine. It's durable and low profile, easily slipping in and out of pockets. Are you looking for more padding?

i just put one in my wallet and carry it around with me everyhwere

I put mine in my sock,
Actually makes me run faster... Until it's dead of course than Im back to my normal sluggish self.

I had the same problem and I found a small velvet dice pouch on amazon lol that worked out perfect for my 2 spare batteries and enough room for a small screen wiper. Won't let me post the link but you can search for Medium Velvet Pouch on amazon should pop up.

I use one of those SanDisk zippered pouches designed to hold Compact Flash memory cards.
Two spare batteries fit perfectly inside and it even has a key ring if you don't want it in your pocket.
I've seen them for sale on Overstock dot com if you want to see what they look like.

I use a small business card wallet thing I found laying around the house. Fake leather W/2 pockets.

Actually, I went to the Container Store. They had the perfect case! $1.49. Now my spare is safe

I'm joining the spare battery club - just ordered an OEM battery. Are you guys worried about the battery door wearing down slowly each time you take it off?

If anything happens to it, you can always order a new one from VZW or some other sites online. No big deal, IMO.

They're on eBay right now for ~$22. They'll be less than $10 in a month or two. Not expensive enough to worry about, imho.

Platinum Series - Case for HTC Thunderbolt

I just picked this up at my local bestbuy. It is the same thing as the Seidio Innocase, just cheaper. I had one of these for my Droid X and loved it. On my X, I also ordered the Seidio Rugged add-on case, and the two worked perfectly together. I think that I am going to do the same thing again. Here is the link http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Platinu...uId=1974606&st=htc thunderbolt case&cp=1&lp=1
One more thing, when I bought the phone I picked up the Double cover from VZW, and it fits perfectly into the holster that I got with the platinum case....
I have the platinum case as well, trying to figure out how to mod it to fit my extended battery.

Yes, the one from BB is case and holder. The 29.99 for the Innocase is the case only.
This is identical to the Seido case and holster combo except it is alot cheaper. The case and holster is made by Seido and just branded for Best Buy. Just picked it up.
+1 Just picked this up @ Best Buy for 34.99
It is that nice black matte rubberized coating I love... Batman would approve.
So is this a durable case? Never used those cases before. Might consider this one.
The problem with that is you have to dremel through the lock tab that holds the 2 pieces together.

thanks for the info on this case going to get one now
I have this case. Its good, but the headphone jack opening could be a little larger.
Thanks to the OP for finding this. Don't know why Seidio doesn't put their name on it, but it's a great case. Nice finish, and a holster if that's your thing. Fantastic deal for 35 bucks plus tax.
Yeah there are a few rebrandings of that case. I also got it from BB. Works like a charm, 2 days after getting the case I was nice and drunk, dropped my phone from about 6 feet onto concrete. It landed directly on the corner and other than a little nick on the case the phone is fine.
I had to google how to get the fing thing off without breaking it though...Easy enough once I did.

How do you get it off? (Link etc.) That little manual that comes with is as useless as tits on a bull, can't read a damned thing. It's like the size of a postage stamp.
I got mine to replace my high gloss silicon case. I love it! Feels nice and durable, and the holster is nice.
To get it off what I do is:
1. Flip the phone over
2. squeeze the sides of the top part of the case, so that it bends in the middle (it's very slight but it gives just enough space to undo the lock)
3. Hold the bottom part of the case and push the seido branding sign down to unlock it and pull the top off.
It's definitely a little frustrating at first trying to get it off but once you get the hang of it, it comes off pretty easily. I've become an expert taking it off due to testing kernels and having to do a battery pull to get back to recovery lmao.
Geez, that was easy once you pointed it out. Good thing as I was planning on going to the music store to pick up a couple of guitar picks to try opening it up. I just want fast access in case the battery starts overheating.

here is what I was thinking...
If you could cut out a hole in the Innocase 2 Surface, then another hole for the Rugged " skin... would the Rugged "Skeleton? fit?
On the first one you'll have to cut off the locking mechanism to the case. You wont be able to securely snap it on. Assuming the locking mec is in the middle of the two pieces. The second one will require you to cut off everything above the kickstand so the bottom half will not have be attached to the two top corner. I'll just fall off.
I do not see why you would have to cut the sides at all, the beck extends out, not the sides.
I considered doing this with my Incredible but never pulled the trigger. I thought it might be possible. I didn't have the extended battery to try it out.

Agreed.
Are you sure you have to do cutting?
No doubt seidio will come along with their case that fits their 3500mAh battery. Honestly I don't want an even larger battery adding bulk, the 2750mAh is fine.
I did contact HTCPeida shop and they replied back that they are working on a case for the ThunderBolt with extended battery. Of course they did say "it will take some time, but check back often". In the word of offshore manufacturing and low costs in china how hard can it be to get a TPU case with an opening in the back. Not that hard or so it seems it is.
Here is the seidio Evo 4G case http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/bd4-hkr5hev4x.htm
I bought the seido case that comes with all the piecesi linked (three total). It fits decently without the first layer, the camera flap has tobe removed or flipped under the rubber layer, and the kick stand is a bit difficult to use.
I emailed Seidio about their 3500mAh battery and of cases that would fit it. All I got was the typical reply, we do plan on offering it, but we do not have an eta at this time.

No. Look at the design of the extended cover, theirs is full and not just a little bump
I posted this else where but I figured it was relevant info to share here.
So, Ive been buggin the crap out of Seido with requests for them to make an extended case. Ive emailed them, dropped in on their thread here, and posted on their facebook. Today they responded to my FB post with this.
"Seidio commented on their Wall post.
Seidio wrote: "Hey, we're developing a rugged case for the thunderbolt. Let me get back to you later this week on extended cases for Surface and Active!""
Received this seconds ago:
"Seidio I got more accurate information for you. We are releasing a SURFACE extended and ACTIVE extended for use with the OEM extended battery for the Thunderbolt. You can sign up to [email protected] and we'll let you know when it releases!"
haha you just liked my comment LOL!
lol. So did Seido...lol
well heres hoping it releases soon because I am kind of concerned about the durability of my thunderbolt. also, my extended battery cover doesn't fit as flush as it would like. I wonder if I got a defective cover? go sharks!

Well, supposedly theres another one also coming out, and if they dont theres always doing the Frankencase.
Im thinking that the first batch of those covers sucked. Ive heard a lot about that but mine fits PERFECT even after I dropped my phone. My screen however cracked and pushes the need for one of these cases.
you cracked the screen? dang... i gotta be careful with mine. i assume your phone is still usable though?

What accessories do you use?

Just wanted to see what accessories people use. I use the seidio innocase surface II, stock battery and screen protectors from Verizon

black snap on case from best buy platinum which is just like seidio innocase and great anti glare screen protectors from amazon...also, does liquid thundersense v1.0 count as an accessory?
Platinum Series case from Best Buy. Awesome fit, comes with a quality snap-in holster. It's much higher quality than the Verizon accessory that I used on my Incredible. I'm just stuck on the whole car mount topic now. I don't know what to do.
Oh, and I'm using the screen protectors they shipped with my phone (Verizon).
Nekked - no case. C'mon people, just be careful with it. Of all the phones I have had the cases have served no purpose other to get crud underneath and scratch the phone up.
Car dock rocks - permanently mounted with all connections hardwired behind the dash. Nekked means no fussing with a case.
Desktop dock - charges while I am at work, automagically loads up disk drive access, and has slot to charge my 2nd battery.
Motorola S305 BT headphones - perfect for the gym, no wires to get in the way!
Rocking naked with an extended battery and a ProClipUSA mount for my car.
I want to pick up the desk dock at some point for work, but don't really need it because of the extended battery.

I respect your opinion and wanting a nice clean phone the way it was designed to be used, but when I had an Evo I had other people knock it off my desk, knock it out of my hand, sit on it, etc. and I'd rather protect it from external dangers than my own carelessness. You never know when you might be walking down the street and someone bumps into you (this happens occasionally in Chicago).
So, I use a $7 TPU case (rubber/plastic/gel material) and a $1 screen protector, both from Amazon.

Its here, but seems the seller is taking advantage of demand. I paid $25 inc shipping, no way would I pay any more. it looks like he has relisted them for $40+ Don't get me wrong - it serves my purposes perfectly, but it is not good for watching video because the phone is held completely vertical with no angle - so I would not expect it to be as nice (or as pricey) as the HTC dock that is forthcoming. That being said, the HTC dock is going to be $60!

Just realized that sounded a bit condescending - not my intent, sorry!
I understand the cases I guess, I just have personally never had a need. Keep it in my pocket and in the past the cases have done more damage than they have prevented. Never been a fan of the screen protectors either.

I am using the extended battery and I love it. I am overclocked to 1.4 and with moderate to heavy usage, the battery is around 15-20% when I get ready to fall asleep. I use it from 6:30am to 11:00pm.
Before the extended, I would have to charge it by 1 or 2pm even with brightness low, sync set moderately and the stock kernel and 4G off.

I modified the Ballist HC but its a lot of work and you risk damaging it. Also I have the Seidio ext rugged and like it. Its built better than the standard rugged and I don't have a problem using the notifications menu bar like I do with the Ballistic. I don't care for the Seidio holster though. Rick
I modified my ballistic as well but the sanding and grinding was more complicated than I thought so I just cut a hole in the back to fit the battery door and I can use my stock kickstand and it looks good with the silicon/ rubber case on top of it. I prefer the seidio locking clip to the ballistic, it gives me more security when I lock the phone in it, I wish the ballist had this.

P.S. good idea with cutting through the back, that would allow me to use the 3500 battery instead of the sprint 2600

Indeed, looking for a battery door/plate, not a case
my current battery back is starting to crack in the two places i have magnets (for the touchstone mod).
i'm thinking a softer back would be less brittle and thus less prone to cracking...
so i'd be much obliged if someone could find one on ebay... which won't cost me $30
You could consider the xtremeguard full body film. I just installed one today and the grip is dramatically improved lol. I got it on ebay for $5 shipped, its a 2 piece kit. Screen and back
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
If you want to maximize grip to the touchstone dock, attach the xtremeguard to your phone, and another piece to the touchstone. The phone will grip really well to the touchstone.
As a side note, I've done the touchstone mod on the stock Sprint door, and the international version of the door, and the international battery door doesn't seem to crack from the deformation resulting from the magnets.
I haven't seen a battery cover other than the plastic one, i think your best bet would be one of those thin back cover.
